- Randy (8/5): - Hotel was clean. Room was small but this hotel is almost 100 years old and is in good condition. Has a moth ball smell that my wife didn’t like.
- Hazel Marie (10/5): - It is a very unique place. I would strongly recommend staying in this hotel. Keep in mind dining room is open from Thursday-Sunday. Excellent food. Staff was so friendly. Roo was so clean, and a lot of history in the 100 year old building. Awesome place!

Everyone on staff that we encountered was friendly and helpful and we found the other people who stayed there to be delightful. The bed was extremely comfortable! The only complaint I had was there was music playing at least until 11:00 pm. It then resumed early the next morning. I think it was coming from their beautiful back courtyard?

- Brandy (10/5): - Ok, this is a mixed review for all the couples out there. We accidentally found this place. I am a history nerd and I absolutely fell in love with this place. I made 8 different videos, walked the halls over and over, sat in the study and read the newspaper clippings of the history of it, visited the dining room, chatted with people in the cafe kitchen, and sat in front of the fire in the morning. This was a literal dream vacation stay for me, at a phenomenal price. My husband, he hated it. To him, I booked us an old, haunted hotel. He loathed every single non-modern amenity from the “community a/c” to the closets and doors and cast iron bath tub. There is a TV, electricity, an in-room fridge and an A/C vent - so it’s not like you’re at the turn of the 20th century, but it might as well have been to him. I seriously thought we might fight. lol. In the end, we both slept phenomenally. He said it was the best night’s sleep he had in a hotel. We we had gone to the dollar store the night before and picked up a cheap mini fan and it all worked out. So the final verdict - if you love resorts, and ultra-modern, probably keep driving. If you want a one-of-a-kind stay and you’re an easygoing type or love history and charm, you are going to be in heaven.

The bathroom is very small but had been renovated so it was nice but we couldn’t get hot water and keep it. It just wasn’t worth the money we paid to stay there.

Our room, while small, was very clean and comfortable. I had read comments regarding road noise on road side rooms but our room which was on the road side was quiet. We enjoyed our stay and plan to stay here again.
- Jose I (8/5): - The property is a 1927 mansion in a very good condition. Operated with a minimal staff. Very elegant restaurant and bar, open 3 evenings per week. The breakfast room is nice and clean with reduced options for low calorie eaters.
- Francisco (4/5): - In Florida a properly functioning AC system is a must.. the Thermostat to the up stairs rooms are in the hallway and control a total of 4 rooms at a time. I figured this out only after alerting the staff that it felt like 80 degrees in my room. After speaking to the staff about this issue I was prompted to change the thermostat in the halfway but the AC never cooled down significantly. I read about this issues in the reviews so it’s on going thing.. it’s truly a shame because otherwise the hotel is very nice with an old Florida feel. The staff members are very friendly and the hotel and rooms seem very clean.

We did have a room facing the highway, so it was a bit noisy, however, considering the age of the property, and single glass windows, it is to be expected! Overall, a great stay.

- Mike (8/5): Unexpected but liked it. - Unexpected. Picture of the front of the property was realistic, but the hotel was 'quirkier' than expected. Not the standard template for a modern hotel. Breakfast was not just serve-yourself, but also cook-yourself! Lots of eclectic decoration around, with original, unrestored furniture in the small but clean bedrooms. Excellent food and even better service in the restaurant.

My only suggestion would be to refresh the breakfast and snack area. From Friday night check-in to Sunday morning, nothing new was added and nothing replaced. We would stay here again. Also enjoyed the casual seating areas outside, watched peacocks, Guinea hens, cats, squirrels.

- Richard (2/5): Give Putnam Lodge a miss. - Picture looks great but reality is very different. This is an old property in need of redecoration. The room was okay but bathroom very small. Unfortunately the restaurant and the bar was not open on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Breakfast consisted of help yourself to small selection of breakfast items, microwave a breakfast sandwich and eat in your room. Not at all good particularly as ths 2 and half star hotel was £148 night!

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner on the veranda will a guitars singer provided atmosphere. The outside grounds in the back could use some work. Probably we should have made reservations sooner to get a bigger room

- Thomas (6/5): Be careful - Said it had breakfast but it’s just a room with very few things to eat and was never replenished during our stay. There is also nowhere to eat. It also said they have bicycles to use on property but that is NOT true. The walls are very thin and you hear everything from upstairs and all the rooms. It is out in nowhere so be careful there are no good restaurants near by. We did not try theirs but probably should have. The ground around the hotel were very run down. This is way to expensive for what you got.

Staff was more than helpful and quick to share the history of this hotel. Management was on top of the operations. It was like being in a relatives' home for the weekend.

- Cathy (6/5): - Breakfast was about what you would expect at a Super 8 or Motel 6. Nothing fresh. Room was very disappointing. Mattress was good but the sheets were awful. The whole place is very much in need of an update. Won’t stay again.
- Norma (8/5): - The property was a little worn, or in the midst of repairs. Staff was very friendly and check in was easy. Comfort was great in our room. The only negative was that we chose to eat breakfast in the restaurant which had an extensive wait (nearly 40 mins) for a very simple breakfast which was highly over priced for what was provided. I would stay again for the accommodation, but would choose another location to eat.
- Steve and Jane (10/5): - We spent one night here to break up a trip from Tampa to Pensacola. The Putnam Lodge Hotel and Spa is delightful in everyway. The history behind this hotel is so interesting. The owners have done an excellent job of keeping the old and yet offering modern amenities. The room was spacious, clean and charming and the food in the restaurant was outstanding. The grounds are so peaceful and the owners go out of their way to make you feel like family. It is just beautiful inside and out. A hidden gem for sure but those traveling on the Hwy 19 corridor should make this a stopover. You won't want to leave!

- Carole (6/5): My Opinion - It's a very old building and could be quite lovely with some refurbishing and upkeep. The room was sparse . It contained a bed, tv, end table, lamp and refrigerator. In today's society people need chairs and desks and more than two electrical outlets in a room. The toilet was very low to the floor and a bit difficult to navigate as a handicapped person. Shower are tiled, large and accessible bars were available. Grounds were charming, however as I said, could use some maintenance. Breakfast was "continental". Arranged in a dining room/kitchen which was quite homey.

Our rooms were clean (we had 2 rooms), comfortable beds, delicious food, and beautiful grounds. It was such a wonderful, unexpected surprise. We will be back!

- Verified traveler (8/5): Quirky but really nice & comfortable. - Nice historic facility, so expect some outdated furnishings, but it was very clean & comfortable. There was a shortage of outlets for those that need to recharge devices. The 24/7 breakfast was a welcome surprise as we were leaving very early for a bike ride. Nice selection of food. Dinner was amazing, well prepared and presented, & delicious. The garden and grounds behind the facility were a nice place to relax.
