Guest Reviews
- Alice (10/5): Cozy and comfortable stay in Paterson! - Easy access - and Nicole was super friendly and accommodating! None!
- Rick (9/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): Well worth the visit - Friendly staff. Lovely the quirky decor within the wonders of the historic building. Place was fantastic.
- Skye (9/5): A lovely spot, will come again! - Quirky and cute, it had everything we needed, and there was a great cafe across the road for morning coffee and banana bread. We arrived late and it was a bit tricky to locate the entrance of the building. Once we were in it was fine with all rooms having key combo locks.
- Victoria (8/5): -
- Trista (9/5): Easy and nice. - Great location. Easy to access. Not able to get food at the property.
- collette (9/5): -
- Louise (6/5): -
- J (9/5): Charming unique stay. - Great atmosphere. Perfect location to pubs. Rooms were kept original. Bathrooms were very clean. Easy to access. Loved the history. All communication via text message on how to get into our room was easy. The place was unattended but there was a phone number on a text if we needed someone. The bedding sheets were old and pilled. The pillow cases and spare pillows could do with a wash as they smelt of being used a lot and not washed. The fans were really dirty. When we put them on, dust landed on the bed.
- Therese (8/5): - A couple of things I would like to mention, was that there was no hand towel or napkins in the breakfast room. Also, the outside toilets were locked, so you had to go back to your room to use a toilet.
- Amy (10/5): What a gem! - This place was truly exceptional! Everything was clean, the decor was stunning and the bed was so incredibly comfortable. The old bank vault was such a surprise! There was nothing i would change about this place
- Cathy (9/5): Fun off the track bnb - Wonderful unique bnb. Fun decor comforably set up for couples or groups. A lot of care and attention has gone into the set up.
Light breakfast available. Bed softer than we like but still slept well after 8hrs driiving.
- Jane (10/5): -
- John (9/5): -
- Shelley Georgia (8/5): Lovely property in Paterson, close to 2 pubs, great for a 1 night stay - The property was as advertised, room was clean and comfortable and the shower was great No brochures about the town. Perhaps the addition of what to do, where to go, local attractions and places to dine would’ve been a bonus
- Charlotte (9/5): Comfortable stay in beautiful old building - Beautiful old building, comfortable bed in spacious room with views out to the countryside. I didn’t seem to receive a text prior to arrival with details on how to check in but the woman I called was very responsive so it was all fine
- luke (6/5): - Had a function just down the road so was handy. Pub downstairs was closed. Room was a little tired looking but was clean. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean. Worked for us.
- Jaroslav (8/5): -
- Kelsie (6/5): Great country vibes. - The location was excellent, and has a lovely country vibe. Great for a short stay. Found the room was a bit dusty and many cob webs. Could tell it was clean but had not been used in a very long time. Also I had booked a balcony room but we got moved downstairs which was a little disappointing. If there had been communication of this change it would have been appreciated.
- brooke (10/5): there is a reason we keep coming back - great location close to the pubs etc.
Clean and very comfortable nothing it’s great
- Heather (10/5): Beautiful stay in the heart of a small country town in a old bank building - Very easy accessible, private parking, rooms were clean and cute, place was very quirky and fun but super lovely
- Emma (10/5): - Such a beautiful building, all the small details, so nicely decorated. They thought of everything, the bed was so comfy, cold water in the fridge and breakfast ready in the morning.
- Wendy (8/5): Once only stay experience. - Stately old 2 storey building, formerly a Bank, with scenic country views. Convenient location. Off-street parking. Mansfield room was a generous sized bedroom, with massive bathroom. No staff to be seen on Saturday or Sunday. Paid in advance. Supplied with room code via a text. Really basic continental breakfast. Running out of raisin toast. No juice at all! No small plates. Be prepared to walk up many steps and random levels. No elevator of course. Too pricey at $250 for one night in a small country town.
- David (8/5): Great. Will go again? - Old school A little cold in the room
- Brad (10/5): - Nicely restored old world building with charm
- Linda (9/5): - Great location. Rooms were well equipped and bed was comfortable. The breakfast available was good. Choice of food available was very nice, cereals yoghurt, fruit and toast with multiple spreads. Coffee and tea
- Ian (8/5): Great location , staff and rooms are nicely appointed and very clean - Breakfast was ok , just standard cereal fruit etc . Location is good , only downside was how loud the train crossing is at night . Staff were great and super accomodating . As it’s on a corner , the street facing rooms can be a little noisy .
- Danielle (9/5): -
- Melinda (10/5): -
- Trent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle T (10/5): - This place was a real "find" in the area. Conveniently located in Paterson village with good off road parking, good access to the building and friendly operators
- Deborah (8/5): - Lot of truck and train noise
- Kerrilyn (10/5): Thanks to Nicole at this accommodation who drove us to the wedding we attending, and was so friendly. Her hospitality ma - Very comfy bed & wonderful shower all in an historic building.
- Peter (8/5): - Good convenient stay.
- Kite (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kylie (10/5): What a great little gem this B&B is, highly recommended - Loved the property, the room was lovely and comfortable and a great location nothing
- Lianne (10/5): Wonderful little gem. - The room was just perfect with access to the verandah. The room had lovely touches that made you feel you were in a bedroom in a friend's home and that you would not find in a normal hotel room, books on the fireplace mantle along with vases and lots of throws. Just beautiful. The breakfast was fresh, hot and very tasty. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- Trevor (6/5): Very nice people, loved the stay, however value for money wasn’t worth it ! - Location for a wedding Lack of attention to the guests regarding beverages in the room, had breakfast in the morning No salt, pepper or any other condiments on the table….tea pot just had enough tea for two !
- Gavin (8/5): Very good - In spite of the property being located on the main street, it was easy to enter and exit the car park.
The room was comfortable, quiet, and private. We would certainly stay again. Nothing comes to mind.
- Catriona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Crane (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Pauline (10/5): - Nicole and her staff were very accommodating and so welcoming. We were in the area for a Wedding and Nicole even suggested a member of her staff drive us to and from the Wedding venue . The Rooms were divine , comfortable , cool (it was a very hot weekend) and everything you need for a couple nights stay in this beautiful area of the Hunter Valley.
Highly Recommend
- Kate (8/5): Pleasant and relaxing - Loved the historical authentic feel, comfort of the bed and the extras supplied were really thoughtful The property was still in set up mode. I’m sure the place will be tops once it’s done
- lisa (10/5): - Hotel accommodation with a B&B feel. David & Nicole go over and above to make you feel welcome. Amazing attention to detail is obvious everywhere you look. A lovely, homey feel yet artistic and creative at the same time!
- Katie (10/5): - Lovely clean, homely accommodation, welcoming and safe. Friendly and lovely owner.
- Cherrys (4/5): - First of all we couldn't get into the building...once we did it was completely dark we were shown to a room which was extremely disappointing..NOT at all what the pictures indicate the bedding was extremely not what you would expect in a Bed and Breakfast. I was really looking forward to staying but couldnt. I have stayed in many B&B's and have always been happy but this time...the pictures show a bright environment in all rooms I found them dark and oppressive.
- Darren (9/5): Awesome getaway for a weekend. Comfortable rooms and great breakfast in the morning. - Great location and friendly staff.
- Vanessa (9/5): Lovely old property with nice rooms and comfy beds! - The building has been beautifully done up with cozy rooms. David communicated well with us before check in. We stayed in the Mansfield for 2 nights and our ensuite was huge. The view from the wrap around verandah was lovely. A bit noisy early in the morning which is OK if you're an early riser. Breakfast was delicious!!! and coffee nice, but wasn't aware it was free until checking out, so cost us $ unfortunately. Unfortunately communication on arrival at 4:30pm was minimal. Shown to our room and told breakfast at 8am but that was it. Worked out ourselves how to get back in after hours. Found out we didn't have to pay for breaky only when we were leaving. But all too late! If we'd been told on arrival we'd have spoken up. I'm guessing they thought we'd come in off the street and not down from our room so my tip is to mention it just in case. That's all....PS Breaky and stay was still LOVELY!!
- Jessica (10/5): - The property and staff were lovely. I liked the quirky decor and the sweet cat that greeted me on arrival. The food was very tasty and nicely presented.
- Teena (8/5): Very good -
- William (10/5): - A fair bit of money has clearly been spent on this property. You won't get many authentic heritage accomodations as nicely done as this.
- Judith (6/5): We were disappointed as the property’s rating suggested so much more.. - Room was comfortable and spacious plus access to balcony good , bathroom ok The downstairs was dark and unwelcoming.
We chose the property because of location and reviews of excellent breakfast thus paid for a higher price.
Unfortunately breakfast was very basic . For our second morning we decided to not have breakfast as choice was toast.
- Lucas (9/5): Great place to visit - Great location and staff were amazing . Organised a free courtesy bus and could not be more helpful . N/a
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Gareth (10/5): - Superb stay. We were attending a wedding at Tocal Homestead about 4km away. After checking in we were driven back to the reception and dropped off, with a card to call when ready for pickup, then when we texted later that evening 15 min later our car had arrived. Great character, friendly staff, lots of breakfast options and really nice personal touches. For anyone staying in Paterson for a Tocal wedding, this should be your first and only option. Thanks for everything!!
- Amy (9/5): Stunning property and staller hosts! - The place has an authentic feel with some quirky but stylish aesthetics spattered all around the place. Everything felt very considered. The dinning table area felt a little underwhelming compared to the bar. We preferred eating by the fireplace. Those couches and fire were our fave.
- Lynette (10/5): A delightful stay in a most convenient situation to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley - The large, comfortable room opened onto the covered verandah running around the upper floor of this beautifully-restored building.
The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was huge, and everything was provided for a very pleasant stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful and cooked a delicious breakfast each morning from an extensive and generous menu.
- David (10/5): - Lovely historical building, wonderful rooms. Helpful staff. Will stay again.
- Bec (10/5): - My stay at KnQ far exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like part of the family. The food was next level and the atmosphere throughout was just perfect. The pics online just don’t do this place justice and the 2 open fireplaces and big comfy lounges in the bar are just perfect for enjoying a local wine or two on a cold night. If you’re looking for a funky, friendly but sophisticated place to stay, you won’t find better.
- Joyce (10/5): I look forward to staying there again. - I was made to feel welcomed. The staff were very friendly and extreamly helpful. I couldn't ask for anything more. I so enjoyed my breakfasts, they were delicious. A lovely heritage building and staying there. Thank you so much Nichole, Dave, and Jay. I look forward to staying there again. I could not fault them.
- Patricia (10/5): We had a lovely stay and Jay and the other staff all gave exceptional service. - Breakfast was lovely, we were very happy and coffee excellent.
- Peter (7/5): Good - Breakfast included but not received packed lunch not given. Not ready to take guesrsy
- Maddison (5/5): Wouldn't rush back there but the room is fine. - Very helpful with travel to and from the wedding venue There was no one available in the morning to check out with or to provide breakfast which was included in the price. Had to call 7 times in the lead up to staying there before someone answered the phone and no email response.
- Andrea (10/5): - We had 4 rooms booked to attend a wedding nearby. It is a historic building with beautifully decorated rooms. A friendly and generous host.
- Miranda (6/5): - No access to communal rooms/lounges as glassware and cleaning products etc stored. No wood for the open fire.
Strange breakfast of sweet mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon all chopped up with overcooked scrambled eggs- no toast nor coffee/tea.
Disappointing for the high price paid.
New owners….
- Chelsea (10/5): - The stay was perfect! The room was spacious and very tidy! The bed was really comfortable & the complimentary breakfast in the morning made it even better! We would definitely stay again!!
- Cefai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Larene (10/5): - We had an amazing overnight stay for our wedding anniversary, at this beautiful property.
An incredible cheese platter and a bottle of bubbly, sitting on the verandah taking in the wonderful views over Paterson.
A great night sleep , then a delicious breakfast brought to our room.
Our host was so friendly and helpful.
Thank you for our very special visit.
- Sharon (10/5): - It is a gorgeous place to stay, would have liked to stay longer. Safe were excellent. Highly recommend staying. Hope to return.
- Steve (10/5): - Great historical building.
Balcony access from the rooms.
- Noni (10/5): - I loved my short stay at Paterson. It's a really pretty town north of Maitland. Train from Sydney. Accommodation was lovely, a former bank.
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorothy (10/5): - Everything was wonderful about this experience. The hosts were helpful in every way. Highly recommend.
- Ellemareethompson (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (8/5): Fabulous old building but all the mod cons you could need. - Great location right in the centre of town and close to the railway station. New owners had only been there a week so a little bit of learning as we go happening but didn't detract from the stay. Room and en-suite were spacious, clean and comfortable. Cafe was closed but pre-booked breakfast was honoured at a local cafe. Wifi was a bit in and out and the TV was connected via a different network so couldn't cast to it. Needs a bit more grunt.
- Catherine (10/5): It was great! Beautiful accommodation close to all we needed. - The location was great! Easy access to shops/cafes/pubs.
- Hamish (7/5): Good - Friendly staff and very flexible as well as accommodating to our every request.
Highly recommended to all who need to stay in the area.

- Geoffrey (10/5): Wish we could have stayed another night , both pubs were very good. - Everything about our stay Nothing
- william (10/5): Overnighter - Stayed here overnight for the rail motor open day, trip to dungog and back. Good size room, and pretty quiet out there. Everything within walking distance, which was pretty good to. And a good breakfast to.
- Posseypie (10/5): Lovely historical building, comfortable and quiet. - Well located historical building. Very comfortable. Although close to busy road, surprisingly quiet. Welcoming staff. Included breakfast was excellent. Very reasonable pricing. No hesitation in recommending and we will definitely stay again when next in Paterson. Suggest another mirror in main sleeping room.
- Julie (10/5): Excellent! - Spotless! Wonderful hosts and outstanding breakfast. A really enjoyable stay ina meticulously restored building - very impressed. The trains were a little disturbing but then, we had the doors open all night.
- Heidi (10/5): - Baeutiful heritage style bed and breakfast. The owner is friendly and accomodating and the room is clean and inviting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast and coffee was on point.. highly recommend!
- Ross (9/5): Very enjoyable and great value - Perfectly positioned for our needs, well
Established and the breakfast package was delicious The noise from the train
