Guest Reviews
- Jean Paul (9/5): - The place is beautiful and Miles was a very gracious host. The location is a bit inconvenient.
- Nir (8/5): A unique, home-like stay with exceptionally caring hosts. - This is a very special kind of hotel experience. More than anything, it felt like home. Most of the time during my stay, I was either alone or barely noticed other guests around, which felt a little unusual at first. But Adriana and the owner, Miles, were incredibly attentive, communicative, and thoughtful throughout the entire stay. They communicated constantly, made sure everything was taken care of, and created a level of personal trust and care that is very rare to find today.
Miles and Adriana genuinely made sure everything was perfect and that every need was taken care of, including allowing me a very generous late checkout, which I really appreciated. The hotel is in a great location, though there are a couple of tradeoffs that come with it. The area used to be more active, and today it feels a bit less secure than the main business district. Also, because the hotel is close to a road, there is noticeable traffic noise so make sure to bring earplugs.
That said, the warmth, attentiveness, and personal care made this a memorable stay.
- Dimitar (10/5): I had a very comfortable stay at La Coupole. It is not at a walking distance from most attractions but you can use UBER - The hotel has a great style, a decent location, and a welcoming host.
- Durán (7/5): -
- Sucre (8/5): Bueno - Las habitaciones No había TV cable
- Cem (10/5): Beautiful hotel, amazing staff - This was an exceptional stay; the building is amazing, our room was very comfortable and the location is great. The staff went above and beyond to help us for our one night stay, like putting out early breakfast before our tour start. The hotel is very close to the artisanal market for picking up hand-made gifts and there are a number of nice restaurants in 5-10 minutes walking distance. We did not hear any neighbors, but with the floors it seemed possible that noise would travel across rooms.
- Delgado Huajardo (10/5): El hotel más encantador - Nos encantó el hotel. Limpio, acogedor, todos muy amables. Increíble y muy recomendado. Es un hotel muy encantador. Sentí que fue mi casa.
- Jacques (9/5): Great quiet location in beteeen hotspots. - The place has a whole is great, the owner takes great care of the property and his guests. It is a unique hotel which gives the impression that it is part accommodation and part art gallery. Beds were very comfortable. We wish there were more breakfast options available.
- David (10/5): Nice place - Comfortable bed, great shower, friendly staff, and pleasant building made for enjoyable stay. I was a bit surprised at surcharge for paying with credit card.
- andrew (10/5): - Helpful owner.
- Tatiana (10/5): A beautiful house with cool art, warm welcoming host and a great location. - The renovated house is a magical palace of art and cultural gems. Miles is a lovely host and excellent value for a comfortable stay in Quito.
- Michael (10/5): La Coupole suits us in every way. Thanks also to the Moon travel guide for its recommendation. - Miles is an excellent host who has shown tremendous care in restoring this beautiful building. He has been helpful in every way we have asked. He has excellent taste, which shows everyone. Most of all, he is a kind man who cares about his guests. Not a thing.
- Sydney (9/5): Very enjoyable! We would stay there again and recommend La Coupole. - The hotel is beautifully designed and very charming. We were upgraded to a large suite which we appreciated. The bed was exceedingly comfortable! The owner was particularly helpful and we enjoyed chatting with him.
- Matthew (10/5): - Such a pleasure to stay at La Coupole. A beautiful mansion turned into a boutique hotel. Miles, the owner, is a gem. Well located walking distance to the Metro.
- Mcmahon (10/5): Exceptional - Massive 3 room suite with private balcony. The gated property was very secure, and the owner/staff were amazing. The owner speaks multiple languages and will show you around the neighborhood. Getting in and out of the gated property is a breeze with your gate fob. Great coffee.
- Ray (10/5): Exceptional -
- World (9/5): Great value for your money! - This small boutique hotel has a lot of charm, a courtyard with a wonderful garden and tiki, plus I was upgraded to a suit for free! Huge bedroom and bathroom. This boutique hotel is a converted mansion, the owner has done a wonderful job, very welcoming atmosphere! Walking distance to nearby attractions and restaurants, and very secure. The neighbourhood at night is a bit sketchy, precaution, in general, walking the streets anywhere in Quito at night.
- Brittney (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable stay! - Beautiful property. Really kind staff/ host. Clean. Fantastic shower!
- Michael (8/5): I loved the beautiful details of the building and the grounds are lovely - Very helpful and pleasant staff. Need to improve the breakfast offerings. Otherwise it is a very nice hotel very poor breakfast
- Heber (10/5): One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in Quito that’s for sure - Very cozy, excellent staff Nothing
- Kim (7/5): Good - Breakfast was offered, our room was upgraded to hen we arrived. Website states free parking but we were charged $7
- Kenton (8/5): A remodeled private mansion, now a boutique hotel with lovely grounds, well worth considering. - Breakfast was not available, though complimentary good coffee and croissants were at 6:00 a.m. We were directed to the Mercure Hotel, which was very nearby, that had an excellent and inexpensive breakfast in its cafe. Also, the room we had on the second floor was very large, nicely appointed, with a separate living area. The proprietor, from Toronto, Canada was very helpful and personable. The television did not work, a minor matter
- John (10/5): A wonderful place filled with art, architecture, and character. -
- Lesley (10/5): Home from home in the centre of Quito - La Coupole is a home from home. From the moment we arrived we felt like guests in a beautiful home with a charming and attentive host. Importantly we felt perfectly safe and secure at all times. There was nothing we did not like - hence we returned later in the summer!
- Lesley (10/5): Beautiful house, fantastic host! - It was lovely to return after our visit earlier in the summer. All the staff greeted us like old friends. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sumeeta (9/5): Superb - Miles was so kind to work with. He provided us with breakfast and coffee despite us having extremely early departure times each morning we were there and made us feel very welcome! We did not spend much time at the hotel because of the activities around Quito that we had planned but it looks like a lovely place to be able to relax and enjoy the serene scenery in the hotel complete with relaxing jazz music that we heard playing in the main area. Nothing
- Eduardo (9/5): Very good - Excellent service No restaurant
- Ross (10/5): Very happy with the hotel. - Beautiful hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Would have liked a breakfast for the price.
- Eduardo (10/5): Excellent - Very comfortable, large rooms well decorated. Not much to eat
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Paola (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (9/5): would definitely return to this property if we come back to Quito - It is a beautiful unique boutique property, very tastefully restored in style with quality furnishings and which blended well with the surroundings, the rooms wowed us . The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Nothing, but it was a bit noisy due to being near a busy night life area
- Depue (10/5): Kind , helpful owner - Beautiful hotel -great breakfast A little noisy, but it is in a large city
- Jari (10/5): My stay could not have been better. HIGHLY recommend! - Staying here was like staying in a high-end French accommodation. The decor was exceptional, the room was more of a suite than a room and the owner was onsite virtually full time.
- Tiffany (9/5): Superb -
- Kelsei (10/5): Exceptional - The decor and vibe was so chic and adorable and elegant. The staff was so helpful and accommodated our unexpected late arrival and helped with our post amazon experience laundry very promptly. Great quiet location as well and good spacious room.
- Helen (9/5): Fab first few nights in Ecuador- great place to start our trip - Unique / historic property with various areas to relax in - great location close to a recovering (post COVID) Mariscal area and with many other sites walkable. Tasty freshly prepared breakfast - something different every day. Friendly owner - great staff. Traffic noise during the night - you do get earplugs which is great and we haven’t stayed anywhere quiet in Ecuador…
- Orca711 (7/5): Cute architecture and nice room, limited breakfast and overly friendly staff - The room was relatively quiet and nice. It's a historical hotel newly renovated, so the beds and floorboards creak. The remodel looked nice though, combining a modern and historical atmosphere into one. The hotel was overall cute, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. We had a couple of early day tours and needed an early check out time. They were readily available at all times of the day, and they worked hard to make sure we had a satisfying stay. The room was clean, and it had plenty of hot water, place to hang our wetsuits. Neighborhood felt reasonably safe, and it was a couple blocks away from several fast food restaurants and other local restaurants including the popular night club plaza. Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay. We felt neutral on the location. Breakfast was very limited. We had a small muffin, yogurt, juice, and coffee. We also had some awkward conversations with the host including some political commentary that we did not care for. For the most part he was pleasant, it was just near the end of our stay. We had also originally booked the suite, and the host knocked off the credit card fee at the end for downgrading our room due to a hotel guest that kept extending their stay in the suite. The other room was fine. Walls seem thin in Ecuador, so there was some street noise, but perfectly manageable.
- Sean (10/5): couldn’t have chosen a better place in Quito - fantastic boutique hotel with old world charm, the proprietor was extremely hospitable and a great conversationalist nothing
- Yasmina' (8/5): Comfortable stay - Staff were really friendly, and it felt very private and safe. We were upgraded to the suite which was lovely :) rooms are super clean and spacious can get noisy at night but earplugs are provided which help
- Paul (10/5): Great bed and breakfast in a restored historic mansion - Wonderful hotel with a convenient location, nice location and a very welcoming staff.
- Manish (10/5): - Miles and the team were great during my 3 night stay. Highly recommend the hotel for quick access to central Quito.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I can't say enough great things about La Couple. The owner and staff were exceptional and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. It's a short walk to a park that had craft vendors set up and food is close by. Breakfast at the hotel was also great. The rooms and common areas were very clean and enjoyable to spend time in. The owner and many of the staff spoke English, which helped us immensely. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We'll absolutely book here again if we're ever back in Quito!
- Katie (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, good WiFi and great breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The styling of the property inside and out is distinctive. The common area is inviting and comfortable. The breakfasts excellent. Miles and his staff made our stay memorable. Many thanks!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everyrhing was excellent, staff attention, installations are beautiful, great location!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent and friedly staff. Very comfortable rooms and bedding. Very spacious. Made to order breakfast. Friendly cat! Very good location. Excellent value.
- Sandra (10/5): - We absolutely loved staying at La Coupole - interesting historic building beautifully appointed with stylish furnishings, art, gardens and the best cat in Quito. Breakfasts were delicious and abundant. Miles was very helpful and kind suggesting sites to visit and keeping our luggage before our flight home. Next time in Quito I will definitely stay there again. Much calmer and quieter than old town and close to park and musems.
- Joe (10/5): - Franklin, along with others, are incredibly warm and welcoming. Miles was thoughtful, and was willing to collaborate with the guests and their needs. Franklin worked at night, and he was extremely helpful. He was on point from getting something as simple as ice to arranging the best deal rides to the airport and other places. The facilities were nice, but I would go back solely for the warmth the staff provided!
- Kendra (10/5): My new go-to! - La Coupole was lovely. The building and my room had so much character and were very well maintained. Service was phenomenal and the wi-fi (essential for my work!) was very strong. I highly recommend reserving here and I will certianly be coming back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel had a really great atmosphere. It's beautifully renovated while preserving all its historic charm. It's also in walking distance of most of the life of La Floresta! The staff was really friendly and helpful. Bonus for the cute little cat who loves being pet.
- mark (4/5): More house than hotel - Located in a neighborhood with big, old houses converted into hostelry. Certainly a good idea in some places, but does not work in this part of Quito. Renovated, sure, but with antiquated (err, original) windows, all the busy street noise in right in your small. And the rooms are small here, stuffy, badly ventilated. Did not care for the vibe here either.
- Colleen (10/5): - Great Location, Beautiful boutique hotel. Staff is attentive and friendly.
Room is nice, great bathroom , large balcony, Light and bright room. Have stayed twice before . Feels like you are at home.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owner was very helpful with our plans and organizing drivers, pretty safe location.
- Laurence (10/5): Wonderfully unique - Very friendly. Treated us like family. Wonderfully unique hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay in Quito. - The staff is really friendly and serviceable. The bedrooms are nicely renovated. The common areas could use an update, but overall a great place to stay in Quito.
- Kathy (8/5): - Very comfortable room with bathtub which is unusual in most older hotels.. Lovely property with lots of character. Nice breakfast room with hearty breakfast. Provided much needed laundry service. Parks nearby with an artisanal market (not sure if it is there every day - we were there on a Sunday) and another park where we watched locals playing volleyball and local dancers. Close to Bascilica if you like walking.
- Kaley (10/5): Looking Forward To My Return - The location of the hotel was perfect! Walking distance to a great local market, park, restaurants, and even Pizza Hut. :) The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and always ensured we were happy and comfortable. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and extremely well-kempt! I will definitely return to this hotel and have already referred several friends and family looking to visit Quito.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable place to stay for a few days with comfortable beds, clean facilities, delicious breakfast. Consistent HOT water for showers! A walkable distance to Plaza Foch and the artisan market. The only negative would be night time noise due to Plaza Foch, but we live in a city and are accustomed to noise on a daily basis. We will definitely stay again when visiting Quito.
- Julie (10/5): Surprisingly close to town - We booked this hotel for 1 night prior to leaving on a 7 day dive trip. The owners picked up at the airport and were very accommodating. We had interior/garden rooms in this very pleasant little hotel located on the edge of town about 8-10 min downhill into the town. Taxis are plentiful and very cheap, so don't let the seemingly far distance discourage you from booking this hotel. It was priced very reasonably and included breakfast. The owner allowed us to tour the town in the morning of our last day and dropped off our luggage at the pier for us right before we were scheduled to board the cruise boat. Great service.
