Claire (8/5): The Ultimate Disconnect - We had a very enjoyable stay at Kakul Villas, the rooms were spacious, comfortable beds, pool & pool area was clean, room service was prompt, the restaurant was a short beautiful walk through the resort away and the staff were friendly and helpful. A beautiful spot to escape the busy life and enjoy tranquility in your surrounds. Our villa in particular wasn't very accessible and required jumping up a large step from ground level. Access to the pool area was similar (which was good for us given we had a toddler). Location was quite isolated which is good for those looking to switch off and relax. There were only a few cafes within walking distance, everything else required transport.

Jia (3/5): Poor - The staff were friendly and checked in our our flight status as it was just a day after the volcano eruption on 18 June There are two main issues. Firstly, the property was not private. There were two entrances - the main entrance and a back entrance linking to a back road and the whole entrance was open. It was dark at night. Our villa was near the back entrance, so anyone could have approached us at night and the front desk staff wouldn’t even know. Secondly, the toilets in the villa open out to the nature which is not well-maintained. We had all sorts of bugs around the shower area and that’s actually not great, especially at night. Also, there were ants in the room which we could not keep out despite following the instructions given by the hotel to keep all doors shut to keep the bugs out of the room. What’s more horrifying is we woke up to find tons of ants under the blanket after a night’s sleep. We ended up checking out a day earlier, forfeiting a night’s stay so that we can shower and sleep with a peace of mind somewhere else.

The staff is very helpful and the getaways that the company is offering are very good. Thank you for the warm welcoming to Bali. You may improve the organization of some of the services, but overall experience is great

Kind hotel staff The pictures are a bit misleading as some parts of the hotel look different/ some pictures are not taken here. Overall it was a good stay but the music starts playing early (around 7am) and since everything is super close you will hear everyone at breakfast or who sits outside. Sleeping after 7am was mostly not possible for me. Other than that it was good!

Jasper (1/5): Dangerous, not clean and unfriendly sums up this stay. - During our stay there were several issues, first of all the air conditioning leaked which made our room all wet (including stuff), for this we were given an alternative room which had the exact same problem, resulting in slipping and falling on the back of the head with 8 stitches. Kakul did not want to take responsibility for this in any way and indicated that this was our problem and was bad luck. Besides that, the rooms were not clean with visible stains on the beds. Unfriendly staff using an unusual words towards guests. Very unpleasant. Cheap comes with a price....
Pascale (8/5): lovely relaxing few days in our villa retreat, would recommend. - the property was beautifully decorated and had all the amenities you would need for a few days away it was slightly out of the way from the main town of Ubud and so we had to taxi it in every day. The property was also was very hot as parts of it were out in the open and the AC didn’t touch the place. however we asked reception about the AC and they brought a standing fan to our room without any questions, so for that we were very grateful.

Nice staff also If you get one of the pool suites, you will be right in front of the pool and restaurant, so you don't get much privacy, I couldn't open the blinds / curtains and you would get a 7am wake up call from people at breakfast (which is fine, I'm an early riser). The room also had a strong mold smell and the pool wasn't super clean. Shower was also a handheld one.

Breakfast ans dinner choices are good ans tasty All about the hotel is perfect The hotel is not in the centre of ubud which was perfect for us - as we wanted a calm stay with no traffic noice - that is what we got Only the way to the centre is a little tricky It is a 20 minute walk … and the last few meter from/to the hotel don’t have a sidewalk on a busy road … I walked with my phone flashlight on so people would see me … I am not an anxious person so I didn’t care but for someone who is - you should keep that in mind - I wouldn recommend to take a taxi/gojek because we did that once and the discharge of a 20 minute walk took us an hour
Kuo (5/5): Passable - Villa is very spacious and bright. Swimming pool is very nice. Air conditioning works very well. The bathroom smells really bad at night time, because there is a farm with chickens behind our villa. There is not enough hot water if you want to take a bath in the bathtub. Other than these, the villa is great!

Mark (4/5): Not good - So the welcome was nice. We stayed in the little wooden sheds behind the back. Well... The accommodation doesn’t look anywhere near the pictures. The bathtub was dirty. Filled with insects. And ofcourse construction. So we stayed one night of the two. We asked to get a refund for the second night and we came to an agreement for less then one night is worth. Well never heard about it again. I don’t recommend this place

Varun (9/5): Great place to Stay , Friendly and warm staff - Vey Nice Indonesian decor and vibe in the Living . Clean beds. we were a family of 6+2 and took the 5 Bedroom Villa for 3 nights. Staff at reception and kitchen were great. No complains during our stay Breakfast options were good and were served hot a the restaurant Minor feedback - The main door to villa could not be latched/closed and hence we often saw people from other villas/room coming into our villa by mistake. Too many mosquitoes in/around villa due to trees and hence recommend to use a repellent.
Lucky (10/5): - Friendly Staff. Great quite property with private pool. We book 5 bedrooms, the main building has 3 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are located on the adjacent building. All bedroom has attached private bath. All the bathroom shared the same hot water heater tank hence if one has used up all the hot water for the bathtub than other need to wait for hot water regeneration otherwise you will get cold shower. Staff delivered welcome drink and fruits to the villa when we arrived and also delivered breakfast to the villa in the morning. Since the Villa is located at the end it is very quite and we can lock the gate to the villa. Unfortunately we did not get the chance to use the full facility since we were out most of the time.
Harriet (10/5): Perfect retreat on outskirts of busy Ubud - We have stayed in maybe 20 different homestays, villas and hotels in Bali and this was our favourite. The location is so good, just outside of Ubud and very quiet. We volunteer at BAWA so location is perfect for that. The room was incredible we booked a superior room and we could access the pool from our back door, we had a mini kitchen which was fantastic and a fridge. The staff were really lovely and you get a choice of 10 items for the included breakfast which we've never had before. They cleaned the room every day beautifully. We will definitely be visiting them again 🙂 Nothing - it was perfect

Sulastri (8/5): Blissfully quiet gem of Ubud - The room was spacious and it’s a great feature to have a kitchenette. It’s in a quiet area south of Ubud about 10-15mins ride from Ubud city centre. Room I booked came with breakfast. Breakfast is high quality and very satisfying. It’s nice to know that you can have breakfast served to the room as well. Iron is available upon request from the reception. Room wifi is good quality - I could watch Netflix without a hitch. First floor rooms has a door that exits right out into the pool which is a nice feature. I only wish there was a small table and chair so I can have breakfast there! Really good value for such a spacious place with breakfast and I’d be more than happy to come back! Nothing!

Ravinder (8/5): It was a very pleasant stay as we booked Three Bedroom Villa with private villa. - There was no food option for pure vegetarians(who don't eat eggs as well). so you guys should have separate menus for them as well and if possible separate kitchens. There were so many spiders around the bed and in the bathroom, and I know you are living near to nature but some people are very scared of them. it wouldn't kill the owner to clean all the villa and make bug free them.
Kacio_ (7/5): Good stay - Close to Ubud center. Good to have AC, fridge, pool + there is also cooking area on room. Possibility to keep luggage at reception and pool usage after checkout. Too much humidity on room compared with other stays. General smell from humidity. Our room "Rose" in corner and too dark inside.

The cabana is open in some places, so the air conditioning “escapes” enough when the heat is very strong and as it is open in certain places, many animals enter, such as mosquitoes and cockroaches. I killed several cockroaches that were on the bed and I had to buy two devices to scare away mosquitoes.

Sabine (10/5): Wonderful stay near Ubud! - Wonderful staff, always made sure we had everything we needed and went out of their way. Very clean rooms and comfortable beds. We used the pool to wind down and refresh after adventurous days. Coffee place nearby with outstanding latte. The location did not lend itself for walking, needed to drive to places for shopping or simply taking a walk.

Food was great No insulation in the building doors slamming loud loud loud can hear everyone talking in the rooms - a rat trap was put in my room and I found a live rat stuck to the glue in the trap under my bed and the rat was suffering, it was deeply upsetting.

I like big room, nice lightening of lamps and decoration in whole! Very nice staff. Nice pool, feeling of relax. Nice kitchen on the air. Several sofas to have a rest. Nice bath! Only two things - telephone from reception in our number was very good hearing and night (very loudly), and a light from the outside the door, but we d create to switch off light.

Klaudia (8/5): Recommend for the group stay. - The villa was amazing, a great place to stay with the group. Some of the bed sheet and towels were dirty. The rooms weren’t well managed. The breakfast was mediocre.
Silvia (6/5): Not the safest stay - Only stayed here one night. The pool had dirty water, the villa was not properly cleaned and there were so many places that geckos and other insects could come in at any time of the day or night because there were big gaps the size of a few fingers between the bathroom doors and the outside which to me is an illogical engineering thought to begin with. So needles to say we found numerous geckos coming in and out of both bathrooms while we were taking showers. This can be easily evaded with a few silicone seals in my opinion. There was a dog that was let loose to roam around the property and when we started having dinner it sensed that and stood at our door for half an hour so we could not go outside as we do not know if it is friendly or not. This is a problem for people with small children or afraid of dogs, it should not be able to just walk around peoples "private villa". They had welcome fruits in the fridge for us at arrival which is the only good touch I can point out unfortunately.

Bláha (3/5): Kakul Villas - We were given a room with a strong musty smell, which the staff very willingly exchanged for us. The pool is awkwardly located opposite the reception, next to the restaurant, and several rooms have direct access to it from their terrace - which, in my opinion, is a problem regarding the smell and dampness on the lower floor. Breakfast was very good, the staff tried to be pleasant, but sometimes overly intrusive. Occasionally, there were water outages and sometimes the water didn't get warm. -
Lauren (9/5): The best hotel during our travels in S.E Asia, a slice of heaven which was peaceful and private with the most lovely sta - The staff were extremely kind and helpful for the entirety of our stay. They were a joy to be around every day. The hotel itself was a little slice of heaven, we especially enjoyed the pool and the restaurant was lovely for both breakfast and drinks/snacks/dinner throughout the day. We upgraded to a suite during our stay (for an extra £12 in total!), the room was lovely, with an extra comfy bed! We also really loved the activities they offered and the ease with which we were able to arrange these (we want to give a special shoutout to our excursion guide Jaya who was just the loveliest man during our full Ubud day tour, he even went above and beyond and helped us out with our laundry, picking it up and delivering it back to us!) Kakul hotel was an absolute pleasure to stay at and it exceeded our expectations! Would recommend to anyone visiting Ubud. The only minor issue we would note is that we had a lot of ants in the room toward the end of our stay (I think this was due to the small gap under the door which led out to the pool) but this did not affect our stay.
Ilka (9/5): A great place to stay away from the crowds. - - not right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the main road - very clean - towels get changed every day - I requested to change the room after one night because my room was quite dark and in the corner, the staff was very nice and accommodated my request :) - fridge in the room - great breakfast - the pool is right in the middle of the rooms and the restaurant - no sun beds and not a lot of space to relax in the sun comfortably

Villa was beautiful and very peaceful, exactly what we were looking for a bit away from caos of center. outdoor bathroom was nice but it had a pretty bad smell, like a dead animal.

Grete (9/5): Nice quiet place to stay in Ubud. - We stayed at a three-bedroom villa, with each room featuring a double bed and a private bathroom. The living room area was nice, and there was a cozy garden with a lovely pool. One side of the garden was open, giving the feeling of being in a jungle. The location is not far from Ubud center, but it's not ideal for walking due to the traffic. However, it's very easy and cheap to order a Grab taxi through the app. Occasionally, there was no hot water in the shower, but overall, it was a great place to stay.
