Guest Reviews
- Ivan (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Thanks for your kind hospitality. - Thoroughly enjoyed the muffins - they were excellent! Our room was quite cool in the evenings.
- Grant (8/5): Somewhere I would love to return too. - Very serene and quiet. Next time I come I will bring someone to enjoy it with There was nothing lacking for what I expected. It met all my needs
- Anna (10/5): -
- Greg (10/5): Trip the Lodge Fantastic - The lodge was built in 1928 by the same folks that constructed the nearby Prince of Wales hotel - of world renown! Super enjoyable experience, very personable & friendly staff. Wonderful common areas, including a comfy sitting area & fireplace, outdoor wraparound deck on the second floor, and breakfast area where you are served coffee, juice and delectable homemade muffins! Like being in a B&B, really.
- Ann-Kathrin (10/5): - Very friendly staff and the living room is amazing so you have the chance to chat with other people. Muffins were also amazingly delicious!
- Wendy (10/5): - Everything was perfect.
Stacy was pleasant and accommodating. we give her at least a five star rating.
- Brian (10/5): - Very friendly. Loved muffins and coffee in the morning. Just a stroll from Cameron Falls.
- Jennifer (4/5): - Room was tiny. Couldn't properly stow suitcase and crowded even for a couple. Husband kept cracking his head on the low bathroom door frame.
Hot and cold tap were separate so difficult to regulate comfortable water temperature in the shower and sink.
Sorry, warm muffins aren't enough to give this place more than two stars for the elaborate nightly rate.
- Dave (10/5): - A fantastic and historic accomodation that makes you feel part of the Waterton ancestry.
- Karen (6/5): - Access requires you to drive on a single lane uphill road which leads you to a rear entrance & parking. Check in & Staff were helpful; however, you walk through the kitchen to get to the shared living room that's covered with bed sheets that have been washed & pressed followed by the front dining room which is cramped. Our room Bears Den - was sort of a bi-level lower unit where windows when open inward from the top to form a "V" shape are open or closed (nothing in between). Outlets are scarce with extension cords stretched across the room. Ceiling is low throughout but most noticable iwhen in the shower area. The price was reasonable, Cameron Falls is beside the property & a short walk (about 1/2 mile) to downtown Waterton.
- Judith (9/5): -
- Yiwen (10/5): - This lodge is very quiet, backed by mountains, and the night sky is stunning-perfect for photography.
There is a dedicated parking space, so no need to worry about parking.
Breakfast includes coffee, tea, juice, and muffins, all very tasty. The room is a bit small but cozy.
The location is close to everything and within walking distance.
We would definitely choose to stay here again.
- Kathy (10/5): Quaint lodge - Adorable and quaint lodge that is in the perfect location! Close to town, hikes and lake!
- Kim (8/5): - We found that the room was too small for us. We shared a shower with another room downstairs; our room had a toilet & sink. No room for luggage. At night we placed our luggage on the floor and during the day we placed our luggage on the bed. Also, Expedia said it was "self check in" and it was not. Site manager was there to check us in and give us the room key.
Breakfast muffins were excellent! Choice of 3 delicious flavors. Coffee, teas and juice available as well.
Cameron Falls very nearby and all of Waterton is a short distance for walking ( within 10-15 minutes).
Beautiful location. Next time we will choose a different room that has larger space and private shower.
- Ken (8/5): - Had historical features which we enjoyed and the host was very nice. Could have used a/c but aleast there was a fan. Also liked that our room had a private deck.
- Richard (4/5): - Location Room #8 was very run down
- Ryan (10/5): - Great place to stay close to
Town.
- Chaya (10/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Suzanne (6/5): - This is a great place to stay in waterton if you're in one of the rooms on the top balcony. Unfortunately we haven't figured this out. Despite booking in June, we were left with the smallest room on the basement floor ( and right under the washing machine which started at 6:30 a.m.). Beds are comfortable. Host is lovely and great to get a muffin and coffee to start your day. Great location if you're doing the akamina Parkway hike, a little less so if you want to be walking distance frm the Lake.
- Kevin (8/5): - Great place - host was excellent
- Bryan (10/5): - Great muffins and coffee for breakfast. Appreciated the history of the building. Clean and comfortable!
- Allan (10/5): - Peaceful stay in a historic lodge. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Delphine (10/5): Excellent - Maison à l’ancienne décorée avec beaucoup de goût. La dame est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle et ses muffins étaient succulents. Rien
- Michael (8/5): - Well kept and friendly staff.
- PETER (10/5): - Beautiful view Excellent management.
- Rachael (10/5): So cosy and comfy, a lovely place to getaway and enjoy nature. - It was really cosy, and very close to the start of hiking trails like Bertha Lake and Boundary Bay. Our host was so friendly and welcoming, and the muffins she made for breakfast were delicious!
- Michael (10/5): Special Place, Quiet Location, Great Ambience! Well Worth the Money! - We appreciated the quaint, cozy room. The common area was great. We had a Continental Breakfast included. The homemade muffins were excellent and went well, with the Coffee and Juice. The pressed, line dried, sheets and the Bed were very comfortable. It is a quiet location and the room had good air flow. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was there was some noise when a few people left on one of the mornings, as the way to the parking lot, is from room doors, that open to, the outside of the lodge. Since it isn't a really big place...this wasn't a big issue.
- Dale (10/5): - Fresh homemade muffins every morning that are excellent. Beautiful scenery beautiful classic house well kept up.
- dylan (10/5): - We loved our stay at Northland lodge. The property is small, clean and quiet. We enjoyed eating freshly baked, delicious muffins and having coffee while visiting with other travellers. Definitely would recommend!!
- yinghuan (10/5): - Hidden gem next to Cameron falls.
- Madison (10/5): - Such a cute place to stay! Great location and such kind hosts!
- Matthew (8/5): - The freshly baked muffins are outstanding which together with tea, coffee, juice and optional chats with other guests provides a vacation feel to the start of your day. The location was ideal for us, providing easy access to hikes and a comfortable walk in and out of town for dinner. We enjoyed the alternate private access to our room via the steps and veranda. We also appreciated the flexibility around checking in as it gave us time to organise our stay in our room - the Danish Tree House. The room is double aspect with a sink and wc but with no storage - ideal for a one or two night stay but really no more. Space is very tight around the bed as the room dimensions make it more suitable to a single rather than a double bed. A shower is provided but it is located downstairs between the kitchen and another private bedroom so some guests might feel uncomfortable using this facility. Due to the glorious surroundings and good weather, the friendliness of the other guests and the goodwill of the locals we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Waterton and would willingly stay again at Northlands Lodge but maybe not in The Danish Tree House.
- Wayne (10/5): - We liked it all. The horse was extremely friendly. The area was quiet and clean. It was a very short walk to watch Cameron Falls, which was wonderful. We would stay again anytime we are in Waterton.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elmer (10/5): Cute and cozy - Nice and cute historic cottage. Vey good for relaxing weekend get away
- Hamid (8/5): - Very nice people .
- Linda (10/5): Had a unique experience, my family loved the place, three kids ages-17,16,12 and they liked it - Manager was awesome accommodating, friendly, and the homemade breakfast muffins were the best Can’t think of anything
- Joanne (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, thank you very much
- Robin (10/5): - Quaint, cozy B&B in a perfect location. Rooms are on the smaller size, but it fit our needs just fine. We walked into town and to the marina during our stay in Waterton. Would highly recommend!
- Dianne (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff The ambient sound was quite loud
- Herbert (8/5): - We really appreciated the ability to drop off our luggage early. Actually, they had our room ready for us when we arrived! Also, the muffins are delicious!
- Robert (10/5): - Highly recommend...super friendly staff!!! Will book again
- Haykaz (4/5): - The history, the staff, and the area were incredible. A 10 min walk to the town. We had lunch on the balcony upstairs and it was so peaceful. The only downside was the room we had (the cowboy) was very small. And for the price we paid we could have gotten a better place that is bigger and more modern.
- Jarrod (10/5): - Wonderful short stay. The staff was wonderful and helpful!
- Sandee (10/5): - Jeanie was awesome! Helpful in guiding us to wonderful places. Muffins quite tasty and served with juice, coffee and tea.
- Danielle (10/5): - Very cute and great location
- Kylie (7/5): Good -
- Heather (10/5): - My room was cozy, comfortable and had a lovely deck area to sit with coffee, breakfast or supper. Fresh muffins, coffee, juice and tea for breakfast and the options of soups, bread and treats for supper. Walking distance to everywhere and convenient parking area. I will stay here again!
- Anthony (8/5): - The Location is excellent, with a friendly host. The morning coffee and muffins were delicious.
Our room however was very small with a shared bathroom on the floor below us (not ideal)
- Linda (10/5): - hominess, staff
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Pedersen (10/5): It was a wonderful rest! -
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoltan (10/5): Charming property with stunning views and amazing hospitality - The property was extremely charming and the hospitality was unmatched! Stacy was very, very kind and her muffins were the best muffins we have ever had! My wife and I will definitely come back and visit again. Nothing - everything was excellent!
- Kathy (10/5): - This was an amazing property! It was lovely and relaxing
- Patricia (6/5): - Older cozy cabin. Convenient to walk to the town and waterfall. Quiet area, comfy beds. Muffins and coffee/tea for breakfast. It would be nice to have more than 1 plug in each room. It had its own entrance for the room we were in so you could enter through the lodge or via the deck. There was a common area with a tv, dvds, books and fireplace.
- Nancy (10/5): - Jeannie, the property manager was great! We loved her muffins and to opportunity to talk with other guests at morning coffee.
- Myla (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay for 2 nights. Staff is friendly and always asking if we need anything. I like that there's always freshly baked muffins served in the morning and boy oh boy the muffins were so delicious. It's a quaint, quiet and clean lodge and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
- Tanner (10/5): - Estelle was wonderful. It was so quiet and great view of the mountain and the stars. Room was clean and the robes were super comfy. Muffins for breakfast were made fresh and my wife said were some of her favourite muffins shes had! Very homey.
- Jens (4/5): - After a thoroughly-enjoyable visit 1 1/2 years ago we regrettably encountered a hick-up that forced us to cut our stay short: Our room (#3) had a non-locking external door, a non-functioning heater, a leaking toilet flapper valve, and a leaking west-facing window that could not withstand the October gusts, letting in cold air that overwhelmed the provided portable heater every time the wind blew. We were apparently the first visitors that brought these issues to management attention.
All that said, this is a darling property with two very friendly hosts that were poorly served by their handy man.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Dona (10/5): - Northland Lodge was an excellent place to stay while exploring Waterton Lakes National Park. You could walk to many of the trailheads from their accommodations, as well as area restaurants and shops. We enjoyed sitting in the cozy living room conversing with other guests about the trails they had taken. The morning breakfast was a great way to start our day and the homemade muffins were delicious. They offer a wonderful soup and salad dinner that's ready for you after a day of hiking. Our host, Stacy, was always willing to chat about our adventures and the wonderful area we were visiting.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Clayton (8/5): - Lovely old property with a lot of interesting history located in a quiet area.
Easy access to walking or bicycling into the village, the lake or Cameron Falls.
Small cosy room but still adequate & was clean & comfortable.
Nice outside sitting areas.
Delicious muffins for breakfast.
Enjoyed our 2 night stay.
Thank you Stacey!
- Sandy (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel S. (10/5): - This is the perfect place if you want great access to hiking trails, falls and shopping. The hostess is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and welcoming. Breakfast is a muffin and juice/coffee. We met some very nice folks staying there as well. House is 100 years old so it is very cozy and not a lot of room if you have a lot of luggage. We enjoyed our visit very much!
- Julie (10/5): - Charming place!
- joseph (8/5): - Needs to be cleaned behind night stand in Room 8.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Spencer (10/5): - Our stay at Northland lodge was one of the highlights of the whole trip! The host is absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The lodge is well maintained, well run, and great location. And the homemade muffins in the morning are incredible!
- Linda (10/5): - Perfect place to stay when visiting Waterton National Park .You can walk to a waterfall and hear it from the lodge. Within a 3-4 minute drive to the Waterton small town that has all the restaurants and shops and bike rentals. Fresh baked muffins and delicious coffee served in the morning. A great place to stay.
- Cameron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful time in Waterton. - Muffins for breakfast were delicious. Great coffee. Nice area to look at the mountain, and start the day. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated, comfy. No complaints.
- Birgit (10/5): Beautiful historical lodge with staff that treat you like their favorite family members - I loved everything! But in particular the kind and informative owner that told me all about the history of the lodge, (the Louis Hill built it for his family, builder of great lodges in Glacier Park and Waterton), then lent me a big fluffy towel when we said we were going swimming, plus provided delicious buttery muffins with coffee in the morning. And the quiet but near to town location with a few mule deer wandering around. And the very comfy beds and adorably decorated room.
Also check out the photo book the author wrote! I loved everything
- Gary (10/5): - Jeanne was a wonderful and inviting host. The property is a quiet B and B close to town but not in town. Her fresh baked muffins every morning were wonderful as was the Saskatoon pie!!Jeanne was very welcoming and accommodating and made us feel at home. We would recommend this B and. B to anyone visiting Waterton
- Amanda (10/5): - Wonderful stay at Northland Lodge. Jeanie our hostess was the best! Great place to stay and walkable to town and the marina for a boat ride.
- Mclaren (10/5): - Lovely friendly property, owner knowledgable and the muffins were excellent. Property has a very relaxed homely feel.
- Thorhildur (10/5): Great place to stay in Waterton - Great location and loved the historical vibes of house and of course the owner and her personal touch, including her famous muffins.
- Donna (10/5): It was lovely and we will definitely be back sometime. - The place was clean, staff was welcoming and friendly. We stayed 2 nights would have liked longer . If your looking for big hotel stay this is not for you. If you are looking for a quaint personalized stay then this is the place. Muffins and coffee homemade every morning. We had one extremely cool rainy day and the homemade soup that was available for lunch was delicious. It has the feel of a very friendly bed and breakfast. Our room was quite small it didn’t bother us at all , it was cozy. But as I said if your looking for a large hotel type stay this is probably not for you.
- Orlando (10/5): A nice relaxing time away from home. - Location was great. the hostess gave some great tips , and the muffins were delicious, we had a great stay. Would recommend
- Judi (10/5): - Close proximity to town and trail heads!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Way over priced! - Our very tiny room, with an even tinier bathroom (sink in the bedroom) had neither closet nor chest of drawers into which to unpack. Although listed as a bed and breakfast, the morning “meal” consisted of muffins and coffee. Starting a day of hiking with neither protein nor fiber is just not smart. And the majority of guests were serious athletes. The bed was uncomfortable, and the room was stuffy — inadequately cooled by a small table fan. For perhaps $150US, this would be an adequate accommodation. BUT we were charged $315US per night. Highway robbery. Definitely would not commend.
- james (10/5): - The only reason we didn’t give it a 5 for property conditions and facilities is that stairs were required to access the room we had. Admittedly we made the reservation without asking that. Otherwise a unique and delightful place to stay.
- Muhammad (10/5): - Very clean and great customer service
- Peter (10/5): Best Location - Our stay was awesome! We stayed in the cowboy room around the back of the lodge on the ground floor. The room is on the smaller side but had everything we needed ( queen bed, bathroom, small fridge and fan). Our favorite part about staying here was the fresh muffins and jam every morning (also served tea and coffee) and that the lodge is a 5-10 min walk from the downtown, could not ask for a better location. It is also in walking distance to quite a few trails/hikes and water falls, so convenient! We could even hear the Cameron falls from our room. So happy we stayed at the Northland Lodge.
- Roger (7/5): A room air conditioner would have made our stay much better. - Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. It never occurred to me that a room at this price would not have air conditioning. Our room was too hot during the day and did not cool sufficiently until after midnight.
- Trevor (10/5): - Great staff! Would stay again. Nice little B & B
- Paul (10/5): A Wonderful Place to Stay - The Northland Lodge is a great place for a nice, quiet getaway, and it just happens to be in a remarkably beautiful place, Waterton Lakes, Alberta Canada. We stayed 4 nights while visiting the park, and it just couldn't have been better. The lodge itself is nearly 100 years old, and is well kept and very enjoyable to stay in. We were in Room #2, which is on the top floor overlooking the town. The lady who runs the place, whose name I very stupidly have forgotten, is just as nice as can be and very friendly. She also serves the most delicious muffins every morning. We very much enjoyed staying here, and hope to be able to return sometime in the future. And by the way, as long as you're here, don't forget to see the park. Waterton Lakes is an amazing place. Just incredible. I am attaching 4 photos, 2 of the front of the lodge, 1 of the rear parking area, and one taken from the front of room #2.
- Lois (9/5): Wonderful! - The owner is wonderful. She cannot do enough for her guests. The lovely warm muffins and beverages she serves in the morning are such an added touch. We would definitely stay there again.
- Ashley (10/5): - Very cozy and in the perfect location!
