Thilomi (1/5): Disgusting stay - Location and nothing else The room was shocking- when I arrived no one helped me with my luggage and reception staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. I went up to my room on my own to find that there was shit in the toilet, the glasses were filthy, the floor was not vacuumed as there was broken biscuit crumbs all over, the TV did not work, 2 lights did not work, the aircon was not working, the glass divider at the bathtub as a gap between which means when you shower the water floods the bathroom floor, when I was checking out I was asked by Brandon if I enjoyed my stay - when I said not at all he made no effort to ask me any questions even if it was for improvement. On the first night when the maintenance manager arrived at night to look at the tv and aircon even he was shocked that the room had not been properly checked.

The WiFi reception in most rooms switches from unbelievably terrible to unavailable. Luckily it's located within walking distance or a short ride from many amenities so you can leave your zero-WiFi room & go experience & appreciate the outdoors like your ancestors once did.

Sock Hoon (7/5): Good location - The location is good, with malls and eateries around. It's within walking distance to the city Sightseeing Ticket Office (Bus Stop #5). There is a free shuttle bus to and from VA Waterfront every evening from 5-10pm. The room is spacious, with complimentary sparkling apple juice, water, chocolates, tea and coffee, and cookies. The bed is comfortable. The building and the interior/furniture look old. Only a rain shower is available in the bathroom so a shower cap is required if you don't plan to wash your hair. The pillows are too soft. The shower seemed to run out of hot water on one of the nights. On another night, we experienced a momentary blackout and though power was restored after a few minutes, we continued to experience intermittent power outages throughout the night. As this hotel is located in the city, traffic could be quite bad, especially in the mornings. Do cater time for your uber ride to arrive to pick you, especially if you are going to the airport.

Emma (8/5): - My stay at Southern Sun Cape Sun was truly enjoyable. The staff were warm and friendly, making me feel welcome throughout my visit. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff were always helpful and went the extra mile by assisting me with taking my car out of the basement parking, as it was too steep for me to manage with a manual vehicle. One downside was the lack of warm water in the early mornings. When I wanted to shower before going to the gym at 6 a.m., there was no hot water available, and it only became warm after 7 a.m. Additionally, the toilet in my room was leaking, which was inconvenient. There was also an unpleasant smell in the basement area that could be improved Another issue was that the in-room refreshments (snacks, milk for coffee, and water) were only provided for two people, even though we were three, which was a bit inconvenient.

Alison (9/5): Stunning mountain views, lovely staff - Very warm welcome from the GM Ruan. Fantastic views of Table mountain from our room. Attentive and friendly staff. Onsite, secure underground parking was a bonus, as was free shuttle bus to the Waterfront. Good selection at breakfast in Riempies. Looking forward to seeing the hotel after the upcoming refurbishment, a coffee machine in the room would be great (it did have a kettle etc.)

Bradley (9/5): Cape Sun - great stay, again - Location excellent for Cape Town Cycle Tour. Great sea view from our room. Room was spotless. Concierge was really helpful too. We have stayed there 4 times now for Cycle Tour, always good The hotel was very well built in 1980 by Sun International. It really does need a refresh in 2026.
Johan (6/5): Ok - Location good. Bike storage option. Good buffet. Rooms very dated. Shower too small for someone taller than 1.7m. Even though labelled a non-smoking floor, there was a constant smoking smell.

Ike (10/5): Amazing stay in Capetown at the Southern Sun cape sun. - The hospitality, breakfast and the cleanliness. The central location was amazing for hitting town and getting back in good time. I could easily hope on the bus tour. Not being able to access other floors as a checked in guest. I was staying in the hotel with 4 other friends and we had to keep going to ground to meet up.
Matthew (8/5): Aged and you get what you pay for - Easy to find. Great location for our needs this time. Hotel is becoming aged, corridors are dim, service by the staff is not exceptional in any way. In other words don't expect them to go the extra mile.
