• VERONICA (4/5): - Leaking water from the toilet, I informed the front desk but no 9ne showed up to fix it. No hot water to shower, let the water run over 10 minutes, but still no hot water. The light's were not working properly. I let the receptionist know this issues while checking out, she only said we will have someone to take a look. No apologies at all.

• Luis (6/5): - I understand the country has blackouts, but the hotel doesn't have a backup power generator; not even for the reception; therefore, there is no lights for the Wi-Fi. The hotel obtains the water from the water well by pump; therefore, because there is no power, there is no water for the toilets, showers, etc. The hydromassage pool water was cold.

Villas need better ventilation to control humidity in the rooms. Bathrooms needs to be upgraded. Sinks and showers' doors are acient, they leak, and smell.

If you go to baños and you’re looking for an accommodation I can recommend you stay in this place. It’s close to the city and markets. You can do a lot of activities and visit a lot of places there.

The personal was very friendly the place was quite it. The best thing was that you can saw the beautiful volcano.
• David (8/5): Peaceful retreat in Banos, Ecuador - We stayed two nights at Casa Giralda. Things we really enjoyed: close proximity to hot springs/baths (walkable); two-room unit with 7 beds made it very comfortable for big family, complimentary breakfast was excellent; the one jacuzzi, sauna, and hot steam room were great; location is a little above town so you get great views and more quiet/little traffic on road. Things that need to be improved: two of the four jacuzzis were out-of-service, and one of the two pools was closed. Overall, the property is on-par with the higher end hotels in Banos, but has greater amenities and a superior location if you want peace and quiet.

They have everything you need for a perfect stay: two spacious swimming pools, saunas, restaurant and even billiard and tennis tables! The property is located outside of the city which is great to be closer to nature. Rooms are big and clean, personnel - polite and helpfull. Totally recommendable!

Las piscinas el agua es helada, hay un hidromasaje que tiene el agua templada. No lo recomendaría, la noche $40 dólares definitivamente se puede encontrar mejores opciones.
• jhonm776 (4/5): Could be worst - We came for a 3 night stay with our 3 kids. The rooms are small but enough to sleep. The service was great from many of the workers there, but the one in the day we were about to leave, changed my whole view on it. My kid fell in our way to the restaurant in the morning because their walkway is tiled, with no grip. Just walking... I fell also but not that hard. I took my kid to the front desk. Receptionist showed no urgency to help nor any empathy even though my son had a bloody bruise on his head and was screaming in pain. I told her what happened and her response was that “we been having a lot of complaints about it”. I asked her to help with some ice, she then told me to go back to the restaurant. With a screaming child, through the same walkway to the restaurant for ice. I would also write about the mediocre massage with latex gloves but i think this is enough for now.

• Alexander (10/5): Muy agradable experiencia - El hotel es un lugar muy agradable, sus espacios de esparcimiento cómodos y las habitaciones limpias. El servicio del restaurante fue bueno, el desayuno buffet delicioso y fresco, pero no espere grandes platos después de las 9 de la noche, aunque las salchipapas estuvieron muy bien, su sanduche mixto deja mucho que desear, pero se compensa con el servicio a la habitación. La piscina y los hidromasajes son bonitos y uno la pasa bien en la parte cubierta, y el turco y el sauna compensan en caso de que el clima este un poco frío. Y los contactos del hotel para las actividades ayudan mucho, como por ejemplo el alquiler de bicicletas (de mejor calidad que las del pueblo). Finalmente aunque sólo estuvimos un día y medio el descanso pareció mucho más

• ElaBizz (8/5): Nice spot, quiet and wonderful staff! - We stay for 3 nights at the hotel. The rooms are small but did the job. Everything was clean. Comfortable beds, nice pillows. It was changing weather and we were comfortable even if one of the nights was cold. It does smell a bit humid but opening the windows does the job. The staff were super nice, went out of they way to answer all our questions and even baked a BDay cake as a surprise for one of our friend. Breakfast was good, we had special requests and they were nice enough to accommodate all of them. We did not eat at the restaurant beside our breakfast. We took tours at the front desk and had a great time doing them. You can walk down to the village or take a taxi: 2$ ride. We also went to the El Salado pool twice in our stay. Go early it gets crowed around 10-11am. Nice place with a few pools, hot tub made with natural stones and mineral water pool.

• Gigi (8/5): - It was all I expected. Very nice facility, it may need a little upgrade, but overall great. The cabin was comfortable, location is perfect, close to everything without being in the middle of town. Staff super helpful and kind. Good breakfast.
• C5882IYjohnf (6/5): Way too loud! - We recently returned from a month in Ecuador and spent four nights in Banos staying at the Casa Giralda. I had reasonably high hopes for this place but I must say I was disappointed. I purposely chose a place that was a little bit out of town on the hopes that it would be quiet and I would be able to get some sleep but this really didn't work out. On the first night there was music booming around the pool despite there being no one at all out there. One phone call and two trips to the front desk finally got the horrible music turned off at about 11pm. The next two nights were ok but on the last night there was a large group staying there and they partied long and loud. If you want to get a good nights sleep look elsewhere. The other issue was that we really had no hot water. We asked at the desk and one morning had about 30 seconds of hot water but basically it was four days of cold showers. For the price I expected better. The good news is that the hot springs is a short walk up the hill and we really enjoyed that. The front desk staff was also very helpful in their suggestions re things to do and see in Banos. Overall, not worth the price for too much noise.

Veldig hjelpsomt personale, spesielt Andrea som hjalp oss med den minste ting og hadde rikelig med anbefalinger. Ligger kort vei utenfor byen, rolige omgivelser med flere bassenger.
• Jemski_B (8/5): We had a great stay - We almost didn't book at Casa Giralda because of some of the reviews on this forum but took the risk and we had a wonderful stay. The staff were extremely helpful, our room was spacious enough for our family of 5 and good value compared to other places we considered in Banos, we met friendly Ecuadorian families vacationing there and the breakfast was plentiful. The kids loved the pools and the venue is up and out of the city but still walkable into town. Thanks for a great stay.

• angelfish2222 (4/5): Damp & musty - We stayed one night here en route to Tena. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst hotels we stayed in during our trip to Ecuador. Firstly, the rooms stink of damp. Three of us squeezed into a little cottage (near the restaurant) which had 2 double beds in one room and a small bathroom. There was barely room to store our bags on the little desk & 'wardrobe' crammed into the room. I had to insist on leaving the doors and windows open as long as possible as the whole tiny room smelt musty. Other members of our group had the same complaints about the smell in the rooms. They just need to be aired out. The bathroom was at least clean, although again, a bit run down with some damp spots around the shower. Our toilet didn't always flush either. On the plus side, it is very quiet there. breakfast in the morning was fine. Food tasted ok, although the servings were not generous. Our problem was with the coffee. We found out afterwards that Ecuadorians tend to add a little drop of coffee to their cup & then top it up with hot water. We didn't realise this as in Europe we're used to a large mug of strong coffee. Anyway, on a table of four, we were given enough coffee for two people. We kept asking the waitress to bring more coffee but she effectively refused. She was trying to serve 4 tables of people and seemed very disorganised in her service so items for all tables got forgotten and it came across as rude. There was a language barrier there too, but we got the impression she didn't want to be there or to serve us. Overall, a hotel well past it's prime. Its close to the centre of Banos (walking distance) but I wouldn't recommend it. It's probably better to stay in town where there are more restaurant options as the restaurant, despite being advertised as open online, was actually closed in the evening we arrived.

• Nir Baruch (6/5): - En las habitaciones de más al fondo se escucha al gallo de los vecinos que no deja dormir desde las 4 de la mañana - pero para la segunda noche nos cambiaron de habitación. El hotel es lindo pero está bastante descuidado. La limpieza en la zona de la piscina deja mucho que desear. Los de la recepción y el encargado Andrés son muy buena onda y hacen todo para que los huéspedes se sientan cómodos.
• Michael (8/5): Rustic charm in the town of Banos. - The hotel is very rustic and charming. For the price it was great. When the sky clears you have a spectacular view of the tungurahua volcano a few miles away. A great free breakfast, jacuzzi, dry and wet saunas. Great location!
• Die_Weltenbummler01 (6/5): Its glory days have passed - The hostería has a bit of a 90s charm, as does the whole town of Baños. It offers various pools, thermal water jacuzzis, sauna, steam bath and an excellent breakfast buffet. The little cabañas are a bit dated but the rooms are very clean, beds are comfy and the showers medium warm. All in all good, maybe a little overpriced, easy access by car but probably too far to walk into town.

• donomar2017 (10/5): A highlight of our vacation! - We never expected such a beautiful place...my grandchildren's eyes said it all! I would travel to Ecuador again just to stay in this hotel...I cannot recommend it any higher! The restaurant and food were beyond excellent...it was very fancy! It was magical to look out our windows to see and be part of the mountains...I have to stop writing now because my bags aren't unpacked yet and I'm tempting myself to just get on the next plane out!

• N1605JTannab (4/5): It was poor. - We spent money on food here at about 3pm the rice dishes were horrible and we paid about ten dollars for them each, we are not particularly picky eaters. The grounds are definitely not up to date and the rooms did indeed smell like mold. The staff were very friendly though!
• JuanCarlosA1518 (10/5): Getting bettet - Returned to the hotel and they are still at the top level in town. Good service, nice breakfast and quiet room and environment. Great place. The have a tempred mineral water pool that was really relaxing and helpfull for a back pain i had.
• C3317ROandresc (10/5): Fun, Quiet and Rustic - Loved this place. This 40 year old hotel has individual cabins with usually 2 rooms in each, one upstairs and one downstairs. It's far enough away from town to relax with pills and hot tubs add well as a hot spring near by, but also 5 minutes from town by taxi. I recommend staying here. Nice people and pretty view of the mountains!

The rooms were not clean enough, there was spider webs behind the furniture and even sand on the beds. Although the breakfast was buffet, you were not able to serve yourself and the amount of food were limited and not so wide I do not recommend it

• PFugax (6/5): Run down but nice front office staff - Honestly, when we first arrived we thought we were transported into The Shining. Very large hotel complex that was completely empty. Over the next couple of days towards the weekend more families arrived giving it some life. Only the manager spoke English but everyone was polite and helpful. They were proactive about making us bagged lunches when we left early in the day and would miss breakfast. In terms of the facility itself, it looks like it was frozen in time circa 1990. Cabins were clean although the bathrooms/showers leaved much to be desired. Worn old towels, brown water coming through the pipes when we first turned them on. The pools were also quite surreal. Too cold to swim in it and a old decaying water slide that looks like it might remove a limb on the way down. Location-wise it was great. A nice walk into the town and just up the road from the fun but very run-down hot spring.

The grounds of this little bungalow casa village are in general really lovely, mountain style cottages, the pool areas, cozy lobby area and so on, yet it is really quite run down and would need a good make over, spa area, hot tub pool, sauna, bathrooms in the rooms etc. were quite a bit flawed, peeling paint, broken towel or toilet paper holders etc. It is seemingly small things, but added on it made the place look in desperate need of an overhaul. We travelled in a very low season, so it was also kind of empty there which made the place in its state even moreso a little "sad and lost" looking. The rooms were overall okay, very small though, but the beds were extremely uncomfortable. We are not spoiled travelers and backpack a lot, but this was a big flaw for four nights, as we had active early morning schedules set up in Banos. The location itself is great, walk to town or a Dollar cab ride, and the view to the mountains is very lovely. The staff was exceptional and very friendly and made up for any flaws in the buildings.

• 217sandiev (10/5): Friendly place - We originally had reservations at a different place for our weekend visit to Banos and we were not able to find it. As we were looking I passed a very large sign on the side of the road for Casa Giralda. I pulled into the drive and we were welcome with open arms. No reservations, no problem. The general manager Andres was on shift when we arrived and he was a fountain of information. He explained clearly directions to all the attractions that my son and I wanted to see even writing down the road names and marking them on a city tourism map for us. While we paid for 2 nights, we ended up checking out after the first as my son was home sick and worried about his dog.... Andres was not there when we checked out but the lady at the desk phoned him as she spoke little English and wanted to make sure that we had no issues with the hotel. They were genuinely concerned that there was something they had done. After assuring Andres over the phone that all was well he thanked us for our business and invited us to stay with them again, and we will anytime we return to Banos!
• BoominNZ (10/5): Great service and perfect location - We stayed at Casa Giralda for 4nights and our entire experience was exceptional. Prior to arriving in Banos, we contacted several large tour agencies to book adventure sports but didn't get any responses. We reached out to Andres, the hotel owner, who helped book the activities with Wonderful Ecuador including hotel pickup on our behalf. Casa Giralda is located on top of a hill just outside of the city center. However if you take a short cut, it is a quick 10min walk in to town. Or a $1.50 taxi ride. For food, Andres gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants such as Amarelo (our personal favourite! Order the beef medallions) and Chevere. The rooms are cosy but it is a very comfortable stay with hot water and cleaned serviced daily. The breakfast buffet is also excellent. We would definitely stay at Casa Giralda again.
