Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): Amazing! Quiet, Clean, LOVED the shower and outdoor lounge area. - This Villa saved our trip! It was a last minute need due to the previous hotel we booked was so dirty we couldn't stay the night. This Villa was like an angel dropped out of the sky and saved us! It was lovely! No laundry service
- Robert (9/5): Nice and relaxing. - The villa was a great good location just far enough away from the hustle and bustle The mossies fly screens would be a great addition
- Waade (8/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful and the villa is located in a quiet area only a short walk to the beach.
- Deon (8/5): Bey good Staff great - Open Plan
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect place for us to unwind and relax - Great size for two people, very clean and a lovely relaxing feel to it The only thing was the noise some days from the building work close by
- Kevin (8/5): Lovely private villa stay in a quiet neighborhood with access to the best of Sanur. - We love the privacy and quiet of both #1 and #2 villas. Very comfortable and all the amenities we like. Full kitchen, huge bathroom w/ tub and shower options. Easy deliveries for food, etc and close to the best of Sanur restaurants and an easy walk to the beach. We booked #1 and received #2 - #1 pool does not warm up as nice during the day (less sun). Mosquitos in the bedroom, had to plug in a provided anti-Mos device. A/C in bedroom was limited power, did not cool as well and began dripping last 2 days of our stay.
- Helen (10/5): Couldn't fault them. The host went above and beyond. Spotless. Beautiful and well maintained. - Location...5min walk to cafes, ANDAZ, and beach Nothing!!
- Judy (7/5): Villa is well maintained and Yogi, the agent in charge of the Villa was very helpful and responsive. Only set back is th - The private pool Far from the beach and to get there need to walk through a lane where there are dogs - though the dogs are not threatening
- Kerrie Ann Elesa (10/5): Romantic stay in Sanur. Don't miss it. - It's completely private so you can enjoy the facilities without the normal hustle and bustle but is an easy 5 minute walk to the main shopping street, down tiny lanes (taxi can access to within about 150m at a cost of a couple dollars).
The pool is gorgeous!
The Vila itself is very comfortable with a really well stocked kitchen and comfortable couch. The bed could be a little softer but better than many I've encountered is Bali. It's all spotlessly clean and maintained by excellent staff. The management are very helpful and assisted us with drivers and motorbike hire.
Many great restaurants are within walking distance and are worth visiting. Don't miss the shopping. Blink jewellery is amazing.
Currently the sidewalls are all under reconstruction thus making walking a bit of a challenge but doable if you take your time and watch your step. It would be very difficult for wheelchairs or strollers.
Whilst not in easy walking distance, don't miss Curry Traders restaurant (south Sanur). The best Indian food you'll ever eat.
All in all I give an 11/10. The bed was a bit hard for me

- Chloe (9/5): Amazing Villa! Highly recommend - This villa was a last minute booking due to weather changing our plans however im pleased it did, the villa is amazing, the large pool surrounded by the gardens are beautiful. The villa itself is also lovely and clean, as well as spacious and has everything you need.
We didn't use the kitchen much but seemed to have everything you would need.
The team created a WhatsApp group to keep you informed and access to report any issues etc, this was really helpful. We did report that the wifi wasn't working but we believe that was due to the storm we encountered so couldn't be helped. Just a word of caution - there's quite a few geckos hang about in the garden/alley access, even one living in the front room so if you're scared of those maybe not the best option. Personally I thought they were so cute!
- lily (10/5): Lovely romantic getaway to n sanur - Nice and private, very roomy, lovely pool, very clean Pillows were too high
- Allan (8/5): -
- Chris Shaw (8/5): Perfect little bolt hole to step out of real life for a week - Pool was good and bed was extremely comfortable. Hosts were really helpful and responded to any queries immediately. Villa was spotless !! No complaints !!
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Dave (8/5): Brilliant and relaxing -
- Gaylene (10/5): Great Villa in good location - It was nice and spacious. Pool was big for a one bedroom Villa. The internet was always weak signal.
- Angie (9/5): Gorgeous, light and bright Villa - Villa One was modern, it was bright and light with natural day light in all rooms - the exterior and interior of the villa looked welcoming from the moment we opened the front door. The bedroom was large with ample storage and a safe, bathroom was so good as it had natural daylight flooding in so you can actually see yourself (some villas we have been to are so dark). Loved the full sized mirror, comfy sofa, TV was loaded with apps, strong WIFI, modern kitchen with enough cutlery, there is also a selection of books, which I had added to upon departure. Nice touch with the freebie cold soft drinks and crisps which came in handy particularly as we were hungry when we arrived at midnight.....
The outdoor area was beautiful with a very clean pool, beautiful maintained gardens, a covered lounging area, long chairs and a cafe setting - even better was a section of the garden area which had all day sun (yaiiiiii) - we could enjoy getting a tan in private and diving into the pool to cool down. The pool was one depth which was too deep for me to stand in - I'm over 5' 1"
We were at the Villa for 3 weeks - I would definitely recommend Villa Athena One and will look at booking it again when we next return to Sanur. Just wanting to mention we had a small issue with the keys which were held together with a padlock (never seen this before) - we asked if we could remove the padlock to separate the 4 keys + electricity key card but apparently this is what the owner has now put in place (to avoid hefty electricity bills due to aircon being left on when visitors are out) - fair call however keys were too big to fit in the lock box and inconvenient trying to fit them into our small bag when going out - hope they can figure out a different system.
- Teresa (9/5): Relaxing and fun, a great start to our trip. - It had everything you need, pool area is amazing. Nothing really, it was great.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - We have stayed at a villa managed by Star Villas back in 2022, and we know they are renowned for quality and attention to detail. As for our recent stay, Athena One is well appointed, service was first class and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Khalid (9/5): that was one of those things, read what we didn't like. - that was one of those things, read what we didn't like.
Everything was really well organized. The villa is top-notch, everything was handled very well. Location is great, service is excellent and yet it is only an average rating. The owner cannot be blamed for this but we as guests were the ones who suffered. There is construction going on directly opposite the villa. During our stay, the construction workers were standing on the roof of the new building, which ruined the private atmosphere. The construction noise starts at 8:00 a.m. and goes on until 5:00 p.m. The workers take a break on Fridays and Sundays. The owner of the Athena is certainly not to blame for this. However, we believe that he should draw attention to this before anyone books. I cannot judge how long this will continue. I feel very sorry for all the neighbors.
- Gerard (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (8/5): Friendly, very helpful staff. Nice villa. - Friendly accommodating staff
Privacy
Outdoor shower
Daybed
Pool
Equipped kitchen Unfortunately, the couch/lounge was very uncomfortable.
Noise from the construction on one side of the property and noise from the dogs on the other side of the property. This was heard from the inside as well.
We were advised in advance about the construction noise, however, the works were due to end by end of September. We arrived 19th October and the works were still going until we left 29th October. It was 7 days a week and often until after 8pm.
- Andrew (7/5): Good - The solitude gorgeous gardens colourful well maintained
Location was ideal despite the narrow lane ways accessing
Good facilities
Gorgeous outdoor shower Poor wifi dropping in and out constantly
Electricity very intermitten some days hours without power
Out dated decore furniture
- Robert (10/5): A home away from home - Everything about the property was better than expected. Peaceful, good location close to the Beach and Restaurants. The privacy of the property let you forget about your worries. Well equipped if you wanted to cook. A quick Grab ride to the new Icon Mall. It would have to be one of the more enjoyable stays in Bali and I have been coming here for 20 years.
- Stella (10/5): perfect - Beautiful Villa, clean, well maintained, comfortable bed. Lovely Made. leaving
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Jeannie (10/5): Great stay. Lovely hosts. Quiet location, short walk to the beach. Loved it. - Homely feel. Private. Wonderful pool. Roomy. Great kitchen and all we needed was there.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - This property is a definate WOW.
The staff could not have been more helpfull, especially "Made" our daily cleaner.
Gede the transport person was so very good and he helped make our holiday in Sanur a very special experience. Nothing would improve this property.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqui (10/5): Lovely villa with everything you need for your stay - Lovely villa with every amenity you would need for your stay. Great pool, lounge area and amazing bathroom There is building work going on nearby which you can hear but it was only a slight annoyance. The location means you have to walk down narrow alleyways which are dark at night, to get to the main road
- Kate (10/5): comfortable, relaxing and beautiful villa - clean, beautiful and attentive staff wish we could have a humidifier in the room (air conditioning made me and my baby sick) but that’s expected!
- Roger (9/5): Superb - The proximity to shops and restaurants Initially the lightly lit alleyways to the main town centre but it was perfectly safe and the people down them were very friendly...so not a negative
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Humphreys (7/5): Wonderful to have your own villa and private plunge pool, relaxing when the builders weren't around. - No breakfast included.
The villa was located not far from shops and beach but meant a lot of walking so we hired bicycles for the entire stay.
It would be a nice touch if the owners provided bikes as part of the deal.)
The villa was lovely, great layout, big bedroom and beautiful bathroom. Nice to have your own little garden. Did not like the dark alleyways and roaming, barking dogs that we had to navigate each day to and from the Villa.
The villa could do with a thorough clean. New toilet seat required. The bath takes ages to fill, very slow tap - don't bother.
Building work right next door, the workers were looking down on us from the roof (this was not mentioned when we booked. Disappointing.)
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Kathy (9/5): Great location and beautifully clean villa, pity about the noise from next door building site. - Great location, nice clean villa everything we needed for a nice stay. Host Made and the Gardner were great and happy to assist us where ever needed. Unfortunately the building site right next door was very noisy spoiling the otherwise beautiful serenity of the location, hammering, power saws noise was from 8am to 5pm for all of the eight days we were there. Also the construction workers were working on the second storey so were able to look right through the large gaps in the bamboo screen. This definitely impacted our time spent outside and made us look for reasons to go out everyday to get away from the noise.
- Gielens (10/5): Exceptional - Great villa with reasonably well equipped kitchen & plenty of storage
Ideal for cooking & very homey.
Very private & easy access to shops & restaurants.
Walking & biking distance to the beach with some great shortcuts.
Our Villa attendant was wonderful, so helpful & friendly.
Would definitely come back & highly recommend.
- Binningup (9/5): Superb -
- Shayne (10/5): Excellent villa. Highly recommend. - The swimming pool was great. Bedding excellent and villa very clean. A short walk to cafes and beach. Very quiet area and villa completely private. Nothing
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Collene (9/5): Superb -
- Brad (9/5): Superb - Very clean and comfortable Nothing
- Drjen (10/5): Perfect. Loved the garden, the outdoor gazebo and the pool. - Location was just what I wanted- private, quiet, no traffic noise whatsoever but still a very charming 5 minute walk through little “gangs” to the main road and across that to the beach. Couldn’t fault it - was everything I wanted.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Grant (8/5): Sanur is wonderful - Clean and comfortable. Nice pool. Dogs barking constantly. We love animals. But dogs howling and barking from 7am gets irritating.
- Rebecca (9/5): Great place to stay! - Everything!
- Kevin (8/5): Delightful villa with a private pool for your romantic get-away in Sanur. - Privacy is amazing and quietness of the surroundings is very lovely. Relaxing and enjoying the time at the villa were some of our favorite memories.
Convenient access (walking) to Sanur and all shops, restaurants and beach walk. Mosquitos in the bale and inside the villa at nights.
Water temp in the pool a little too cool due to it's positioning (not enough sun exposure) and the season we were here.
Flooding in the alley making walking in/out difficult immediately following hard rains.
- Linwood (10/5): Fantastic Stay - The location was excellent. Quiet and within walking distance of shop and restaurants. 10 - 15 mins walk to the beach.
Made the housekeeper was lovely, ready to help, and always with a smile. The villa was very well equipped with fresh drinking water on tap. A lovely private villa. A late checkout was very easily arranged as our flight was in the evening. We would happily recommend the villa and would come back on our next trip to Bali
- Nigel (10/5): A really pleasurable stay in Sanur all the more with such a first class accommodation. - Such a spacious villa with its own pool and large bathroom. Really clean and had all the amenities we needed. The only slight downside was the route to Sanur and the beach was down a couple of alleys. Generally this would have been fine it’s just that it got dark at 18:00 so we used a torch for these short walks.
- Alan (9/5): Quiet & relaxing, just what we needed. -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Peace, privacy and tranquility in a well appointed villa, minutes from all you need. - The design of the villa and the plot itself is great - we really liked staying here. Peaceful and tranquil - just what was required. Made the maid is available daily and is swift and efficient - although we only needed her for one visit halfway through our 8 day stay. Condition of the villa matches the pictures you see on this site precisely - well maintained. Wi-fi good. Delighted with efficient aircon and the fact that fans were also installed giving options. Management company of villa very easy to contact and responsive - good communications upon booking and as our stay neared and throughout. Pool was a necessity as 1) it was hot and we needed to cool off often - it was well used ! 2) and it makes up for the vast beach at Sanur being a little disappointing in cleanliness and colour (not white as some online guides would have you believe). Villa proximity to beach is about 10-12 minute walk, and to main shopping/eating street about 6-7 minute walk - and its worth getting to know this as we used it a lot for restaurants (huge choice- of particular merit was the Japanese restaurant KUU at the Maya), a good supermarket and of course Spa treatments (Cosmo is the best). Despite disappointment with the beach, we really liked the vibe in Sanur, and were happy with our choice to stay in Sanur, and in particular at Athena. N.B There really is nothing we didn't like - these two suggestions are to help owner consider minor tweaks only.
-TV selection is poor/odd (but this may reflect local availabilty) and TV in bedroom is not connected to anything. Not that it mattered much as we don't watch much TV anyway.
-As is always the case in rental villas, knives were blunt (always dangerous for cutting). This could be easily remedied by the inclusion of a knife sharpener in the cutlery draw. Otherwise all equipment was in good condition and comprehensive.
- Roslyn (10/5): Great property to stay in -
- Danielsson (7/5): Good - There were bugs and cockroaches.
- Douglas (8/5): Very good - The property was equipment for short term stays (a few days only). We booked for 21 days and would have appreciated a better equipped kitchen - more appropriate poolside dishes, a blender, better range of sharp kitchen knives, a large water pitcher, more linens etc. A couple of more comfortable outdoor chairs would have been welcome. In addition, for longer term stays we would recommend pricing reductions for weekly and monthly stays.
- Theresia (8/5): Very good - it’s clean and quite place . we stay over a week in here . the downside is they still use an old tv that can’t access Netflix or YouTube . should maybe install the good tv . the tv channel didn’t work for the whole stay .
- Karen (8/5): It was our second stay and it did not disappoint. - Enjoyed the quiet location, privacy and the plunge pool.
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional - Nice relaxing break in beautiful villa - could have stayed longer All good - couldn’t fault :)
- Cooper (8/5): it was a quiet and relaxing place to stay - clean, comfortable, quiet, relaxing a little bit far to walk to the beach
- Esmond (10/5): Highly recommended! Will definitely come back! - If you are staying in Sanur, this villa is perfect. It is extremely quiet, only a five minute walk to the main road, and even a pool cleaner twice a week! Our host made it very easy and we will definitely come back.
- Maxwell (8/5): Very good -
- Jiawei (10/5): Very good experience, highly recommend! - Good location, fast wifi, short walk to local cafes, shops, restaurants and beach! quiet area, we had really relax stay in the property. Nice pool, the house cleaner very friendly and keep the place clean everyday :)
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful Villa, nice area. Nothing
- Sally-ann (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): Fabulous, amazing, restful setting in Sanur - close to everything and we can't wait to come back!! - We absolutely loved the class and privacy of this villa! The complete kitchen and spacious, open rooms made it a joy to relax in and the large glass windows really make it a special and beautiful setting for a great, relaxing vacation. it's difficult to get back into due to size of the alley-ways to drive or be driven too. No broom provided, had to wait for the maid to come sweep at times,
- Geoff (10/5): Athena Villa is a slice of paradise. - The villa is really well appointed, the bed is comfortable & the pool is fantastic !
The lady that comes in every day, Made is so lovely & she is so discreet.
The location is a short walk to a number of good restaurants & the taxi drivers had no trouble finding it either.
We are very glad we chose to stay in this beautiful villa, it was everything we were looking for. Nothing !
- David (9/5): we would recommend the Villa no complaints - staff location and peaceful security would be great but not that we need it
- Peter (10/5): Awesome place to stay for relaxing by the pool in your own garden of Eden - The villa is in a quiet area, very well appointed and comfortable (with a full kitchen, large TV, hifi system and air-conditioning x 2). A lot of thought has gone into the building and its set up, the bath towels were soft and luxurious. We loved the pool, it was deeper than any we have had before and a nice temperature. There are various restaurants, shops, massages and the beach all around 10 minutes walk from the villa (Warung Kecil on the bypass road has great cheap food).
Made the housekeeper met us at the villa to show us around and handover the keys. Made did an awesome job in caring for the villa and our daily housekeeping needs. We stayed an extra night and so glad we did. Terima Kasih! We had a power outage but one quick call and Made was able to get the problem sorted
