Guest Reviews
- Otto (9/5): Very clean units and beautiful resort with friendly staff. -
- Nienke (8/5): -
- Birte (10/5): Schöne Unterkunft mit Pool, gut geeignet auch für Kinder - HOT TUB Qualität des Restaurants
- Michelle (5/5): Beautiful Setting, Fantastic Quad Biking, But Comfort & Value Fell Short - Africamps is set in a truly beautiful location — lush, scenic, easy to find, and the communication leading up to our stay was excellent. One of the absolute highlights of our visit was the quad bike experience booked through the venue, which we thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend.
I would also like to specifically mention that the maintenance gentleman who assisted us (whose name I unfortunately did not get) was exceptionally friendly, professional, and eager to help. His positive attitude and willingness to assist were truly appreciated and made a noticeable difference during our stay. Unfortunately, several aspects of our experience were disappointing and significantly impacted our overall stay. Prior to arrival, I specifically booked and paid for two braai baskets for Monday and Wednesday evenings. The payment process through the website was frustrating and took hours, although payment was eventually confirmed. Despite this, upon arrival we were told we still needed to pay for the braai boxes, which made for a frustrating first impression as I then had to return to the unit to provide proof of payment.
When the braai boxes finally arrived, all four were delivered at once instead of on the evenings I had requested. More disappointing was that nearly everything was frozen solid (except the salad), despite the website stating these need to be ordered 24 hours in advance. This felt misleading, especially considering the food clearly came straight from a freezer. For R275 per person, the quality and quantity were underwhelming — the steak was more of a minute steak, the boerewors was very thin, and the chicken sosaties were inconsistent in size. The contents looked nothing like the promotional photos online.
There were also several maintenance and comfort issues that need attention. The hot tub water was dirty on arrival, and we had to request maintenance to clean it. A small pool net in each unit would be a practical addition. The braai grill was unstable and in poor condition, and there was no light near the braai area, leaving us to cook using cellphone flashlights. The tent itself also needs maintenance.
In terms of comfort, the accommodation felt quite basic and not especially relaxing. The furniture (bench, chairs, sofa) was all very hard, as was the bed, and the blankets were thin. We also experienced a severe fly infestation in the tent, yet there was no fly swatter provided — a simple but necessary item in this kind of setting.
Aanrader!
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Sideeqah (9/5): -
- Julia (9/5): - Kids loved it, tent was beautiful and clean, people very friendly. Bit expensive though especially for SA standards.
- monique (8/5): Great stay - AfriCamps at Kam’Bati is the perfect escape if you’re craving nature without giving up those little luxuries that make a stay truly comfortable.
Set in a peaceful and tranquil environment, it offers a genuine sense of calm from the moment you arrive. The safari tents are beautifully presented and thoughtfully equipped, with everything you could need for a self catering stay, including full kitchen utensils, crockery, comfortable bedding, and fresh towels. It strikes the perfect balance between outdoor living and modern convenience, with hot showers, electricity, and a fridge to keep everything fresh.
Each tent also features its own braai / bbq facilities on the deck, making it easy to enjoy relaxed outdoor meals while taking in the surroundings. The setting itself is stunning, with a serene river running through the property, ideal for a spot of fishing or simply unwinding by the water. There are three swimming pools to enjoy, two of which are perfect for families. One is especially suited for younger children, with shallow water and fun slides, making it ideal for toddlers and babies.
There’s plenty to keep everyone entertained, including a bouncy castle, mini golf, and canoes for exploring the river. Each tent also comes with its own wood fired hot tub, adding a special touch to your stay and the perfect way to relax in the evenings.
There is also a lovely on site cafe that serves pizzas, chips, ice cream, and a variety of cool drinks, perfect for an easy treat or a relaxed meal. The shop at reception is well stocked with essentials, offering snacks, water, and firewood, which is especially convenient if you plan on using the braai or heating up your hot tub.
Overall, it’s a fantastic getaway that combines relaxation, family friendly activities, and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a memorable experience from start to finish. The pool designed for babies and younger children could use a bit of maintenance, as some areas of the pool floor are beginning to wear and feel slightly rough underfoot, which may be uncomfortable or cause injury to little feet. Also, one of the larger slides was out of order during our stay, which was a little disappointing, especially for the kids who were looking forward to using it.

- Lawrence (10/5): Should have stayed another night. - Lovely setting near the river with Mountain views. Super friendly and helpful staff. Tents are really well equipped and so comfortable.
- Lindi (10/5): - Every small touch they added in the tent stood out for us and was noticed. From a plant in "pot" to a ribbon around the toilet paper. The test and everything inside was immaculate
- Andrew (6/5): Had the potential to be a great stay, but failed due to where our tent was located - Great facilities for kids Despite being fairly empty during our stay, we were put in tent 6, which is the furthest possible tent from the pool, reception, restaurant etc, and next to a service road which had constant traffic which was very noisy! Tent 6 is undoubtedly the worst position on the entire property!! There were (unoccupied) tents along the river which must have had a lovely view, and been nice and peaceful - sadly ours had neither of those things!
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Timo (9/5): -
- Andi (10/5): -
Also neben dem Haus.
- Edward (8/5): Lekker ontspan!! - NA NA
- Suzan En Yuri (8/5): Leuke glamping ervaring.
- Sonja (8/5): Glamping - Schöne Anlage, super ausgestattete Zelte Poolbereich wirkte ungepflegt, insgesamt zu teuer
- koos (9/5): - Alles zeer fijne ontvangst allee vriendelijkst -
- Jonathan (10/5): Very relaxing and toddler friendly. - Great options for food at our tent and on the property
- Alida (8/5): -
- Henriette (9/5): -
- Faizel (7/5): Overall was good and enjoyed the quadbikes - Setup was good but seating could be more comfortable with cushioning on seats The fact that the neighbours music was loud till late at night and could not sleep
- Jeremy (8/5): Was a delightful experience - The tent and the way it was fitted out
The hot tub Having to buy wood and then having to transport it to your accommodation ourselves.
Would be nice if we could preorder and have it delivered
Previous places with hot tubs gave you wood
Almost like a gas job and you need to buy gas
Small thing in greater picture x
- Almiri (10/5): Amazing, relaxing, adventurous - Excellent service, very relaxing we really enjoyed the location and the set up. Nothing
- Steffen (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Enjoyed the stay and lovely unit - Tranquil and peaceful. Beautiful views N/a
- Dean (6/5): -
- Megan (10/5): - Family orientated, and good clean facilities.
- Francois (9/5): -
- Oliver (10/5): -
- Dennis (8/5): -
- Helen (9/5): Lovely family resort - Perfect for families with kids. Pools, slides, art with Anré, quad biking and kayaking with Essau (extra charge) & lots of safe space to run. Well maintained and clean Africamps tents with everything thought of. Very comfortable beds and white linen. Well managed & good communications. Minor items: one or two kitchen staff were smoking near the pool, occasionally older kids were doing dangerous jumps and slides in the pool, and sometimes the noise (pre the 10pm cut off) was a little loud. But nothing that would stop us from returning. Only item I thought might be provided but was not was shower soap but this was in the shop so no issue. On the river there is a platform that I would probably block off because the water is not so deep and there are rocks so a heavier jumper could get injured, but that would be at their own risk either way.
- de Necker (10/5): - For longer stays definitely a bigger fridge.
- Tazkia (9/5): -
- Rutger (8/5): -
- Heidi (9/5): We loved it! -
- Fatima Badat (10/5): -
- Geneve (8/5): Relaxing family getaway - The staff were great and the pool facilities were tidy & well maintained The bedding - specifically pillows - need replacing.
Pigeons roosting above tent 13 are particularly active at night which is quite a disturbance.
- fabian (9/5): Kurz, aber schön! - Schöne Ausblick, nette Personal, cooles Ambiente
- Fuad (10/5): -
- Arthur (8/5): -
- Kayleigh Van Dyk (10/5): - Beautiful stay with an amazing view
Nichts
- Jenny (9/5): Great overnight stop while doing the garden route - The tent and hot tub were fabulous
- Marisks Lindsi (8/5): -
- Azola (8/5): -
- Mike (6/5): Just ok - .. Service
- Janie Du Toit (8/5): First time experience with Africamps - It was a family oriented accommodation with a lovely view and a lot of space. It is quite expensive for 4 adults for one night and there is nothing "fancy" about the accommodation.
- Mogamad (8/5): - Camp feel. Nature. Well appointed tents. Bird variety. Seclusion. Friendly and helpful staff. No initial / starter/complimentary wood for hot tub. No chilled water on arrival.
- Suwaybah (10/5): -
- Khan (10/5): -
- Lauren (7/5): Good - Great facilities for kids Little cockroaches in the kitchen
- Chrissie (9/5): -
- Sally (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): -
- Mulligan (10/5): -
- Petersen (7/5): -
- mikayla_b (9/5): Amazing family getaway - We had a wonderful, memorable time at AfriCamps - it was very comfortable and the tent had everything we needed. It was a very peaceful place to be, with plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. A highlight was the hot tub and all the pools and waterslides. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that the putt-putt course was an extra cost and it is very poorly designed on such a slope that it is impossible to enjoy. It should be a free activity, open to all guests.
- René (9/5): -
- Toni (8/5): Family friendly - I loved everything about the place. Accommodation was great, the facility were amazing and kid friendly. And the staff were helpful and friendly. I would have liked them to offer complimentary bags of wood since the hot tub is heated up with fire and it uses a lot of wood.
- neil (5/5): Good place - shocking service - Location was good. Very poor reception! I had to shout halooo to get lady pop up behind the desktop and off her phone. We were told very briefly that they have ice and water and wood. We were never told there was none of this at the tent! So we went back. Very expensive wood ,water etc . The goodbye lady was sparkling but the reception was shocking. After many africamps experiences we will not return here.
- Heather (10/5): - Stunning location, the hot tub on the cold evening and the luxury of the tent.
Kids loved the geese and bird life. Nothing
- Janine (8/5): - Great family weekend. Please note it is important to mention to bring fire lighters [a lot], they are pretty expensive at the camp site and you need a lot to get the fireplace and tub up and running.
- Martine (10/5): Absolute Gem, Highly Recommend! - Outstanding stay, one of the best AfriCamps in SA! Highlight recommend for groups of friends, or family with children. Great stop on a Garden Route Roadtrip. Well equiped, beautiful tents, modern, clean. Highlight was the hot tub on a winter evening, and the beautiful scenery. We will be back! Not applicable.
- Karlien (10/5): Magnificent! - The jacuzzi is a treat!
Nice and cozy size, just right.
The inside fireplace was great.
The views🙂
Heated beds The time to heat the jacuzzi🙂
Shower door was loose
- Dockrall (7/5): Good -
- Peter (10/5): Peaceful. Amazing to just unwind from life's rat race. - Beautiful setting, tranquil.
- Imran (9/5): Superb -
- Thetravellingsteve (10/5): Did not want to leave this slice of heaven - We spent most of our stay walking around the property, taking the kids swimming, playing putt-putt and when they were finally passed out after a busy day we spent some time stargazing in the jacuzzi! Not much to dislike, if you looking to relax, spend some quality time with your family or visit any of the local attractions this is the perfect location.
- Laylani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (8/5): For Something Different - tent style accommodations, friendly staff, beautiful location we got there around 1500 but the couldn't get ice cream or fries. But we were off season. Dirt road to get there (on bicycles)
- Brian (7/5): Had a great stay. too many flies for that period and the bar was closed - Location good - too many flies Flies and the bar was never open
- Hafsa (5/5): Passable - The tent is comfortable and equipped with what you need. Even though they have a "no excessive noise" policy, our neighbours were loud throughout the night and next day playing music loud and shouting ruining the peaceful experience we thought we were going to have. Another downturn is that you basically have to pay for everything once you're there including drinking water. You have to buy firewood which is quite overpriced at their shop, you don't even get one complimentary bag. They have a list of amenities on their website but you have to pay for it all like the putt putt.
- Jean (6/5): It was nice but did not enjoy the fact that the bar didn’t open and could not get basic things like tomato sauce at the - Nice setting and the tents were very comfortable The shop was not well stocked and the bar didn’t open for the weekend
- Hall (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henri (9/5): Superb -
- Matilda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pottas (7/5): Good - Size Geyser was broken so had to use another cabin’s shower. No hot water
- Susanne (9/5): Superb -
- Chrissie (10/5): It was exactly what i expected - Everything was neat and clean Could consider covered parking for the cars - car port would be great
- Susanne (9/5): Superb -
- Stefani (7/5): Good -
- Romina (7/5): Good - Lovely setting The flies unfortunately and the fridge/ freezer is extremely small.
We couldn't fit most of our food in it.
- Una (10/5): Perfect - No iron
Yes it's camping but like to look decebt
- Lalla (7/5): Good -
- Val (9/5): Fantastic stay with lots of opportunities to interact with nature. Just wonderful. - Fantastic location. Loved the kiddies swimming pool area. Walks along the riverbank. Really fantastic Perhaps its the season but there was a massive amount of flies everywhere in and around the tent. Perhaps plant mint trees etc to ward off the flies.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Sanette (9/5): Superb -
- Janine (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed it - Did not order the breakfast.
Location was amazing Cocroaches
