Guest Reviews

- Sheila (7/5): Good looking hotel - The hotel breakfast was very good and the evening meals also. The bed was comfy and they have a lift.
There was water bottles but no glasses and no decaf tea in room. The room was small for a double and bathroom was tiny. The only view was top of extension which was disappointing. This was room five.
There seemed to be lack of staff so had to wait ages for meals and drinks.
- Jackie (8/5): Wedding anniversary stop over . - Stunning property keeping its olde worlde charm and character set back in lovely well maintained grounds . Short walk into town centre and promenade . We had sea view room which was spacious and clean . Nice bar area to relax in . Staff very pleasant and helpful . Overall a very clean well looked after hotel and very relaxing . Breakfast was buffet style , we don’t like this style of breakfast personally , however the food was good and well cooked . Unfortunately our room was above the inhouse gym which opened at 6.30 am , we were woken to weights being banged about and dropped harshly it really was loud in our room , we got no further sleep as this went on for over an hour .
- Georgia (10/5): Brilliant stay, would definitley stay again. Worth visiting 100% - Beautiful property with lots of history, the grounds are also beautiful and well kept. In a great location, staff were lovely, rooms are lovely. Nothing!
- Scott (3/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): A very good hotel in a good location - The location, the property and garden, good car park, meals, ambience and welcoming atmosphere My only concern is (and it was the same in a different room during a previous stay there) that while the main lighting in the bedroom was very good, the bedside light was so dim it was impossible to read in bed without keeping the main lights switched on then having to get out of bed and cross the room to switch off the lights and before settling to sleep. This should be an easy problem to rectify and hope there will
Be an improvement before I return for another holiday there.
- Toby (5/5): Nice location and building staff were great, but inside room wasn’t very clean, view of the chefs smoking area was disap - Lovely outside but for the price I paid the inside was like staying in my granny’s spare room Hairs in bathroom, stain on towel, had a view of the chefs smoking area.
- Sven (8/5): -
- Dixon (8/5): - Location was lovely staff very polite Shower hardly any water
- MALCOLM (7/5): Would visit again - Location was great Choice of menu, basic
- ana (8/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): We will return. The staff were exceptional, accommodating every need. - fantastic ambience in the panelled rooms Nothing
- Anthony (10/5): Beautiful surroundings, receptionists were friendly and the breakfast was great. - Location is stunning. Room was lovely, breakfast was great. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Service at the bar was very poor.
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Pleasant spa break - Location, gardens, sea views
- Holt (9/5): We had an enjoyable and relaxing stay in this stately residence in a superb location. - Comfortable bed, great views from the room.
Dinner and breakfast in a spacious dining area with excellent views.
Food and Service very good. Access to the pool areas a bit pricy for paying guests.

- Asad (9/5): Nice and cosy vibe, good parking and nice views, very clean - Was in a good location, has a very nice view, and was cosy, rooms are clean and staff were friendly, had good car parking spaces Spa is not included

- lady Tina (3/5): - Breakfast Fire alarms at 1:30am demanding a refund as poorly dealt with
- lady Tina (4/5): -
- Stephan (9/5): Will definitely come here again - Lovely friendly helpful staff Nothing I can think of.
- Pam (8/5): A very comfortable hotel in a beautiful location with wonderful staff but some areas need a make over. - Beautiful location. Excellent staff . Good food and service. The bedroom did not match its description of being ‘superior’. Part of the bedroom had been made into an en-suite for the bedroom next door and unfortunately the noise from that en-suite was intrusive.
The bathroom & shower were small.
- Maxine (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and for the night we were there, we felt fully relaxed. 100% recommended - 1. Mattress was so comfy we need to find out the make so we can buy one for home (Netherwood please feel free to message the details of the mattress in room 29!)
2. Breakfast - excellent selection and the hot buffet was of good quality and plentiful
3. Room facilities - plenty of coffee & tea, biscuits, bottled water, large TV which we could pause, excellent internet connection.
4. Fluffy towels, loads of hot water and good toiletries
5. Building itself - so beautiful and full of character
6. Staff - couldn't do enough for you. Friendly and approachable
7. Peaceful, excellent food all round and the location is spot on
We noticed little trays in the coridoor with extra bottles of milk, coffee, tea & sugar. These little touches add to the experience for us We enjoyed everything
- Paula (10/5): - Beautiful location. Large rooms with comfortable soft furnishings. Food was lovely
- Bex Gregory (10/5): 10/10 - Gorgeous location with great views over the bay. Staff were so friendly and helpful and lent me an umbrella when we got caught out with the rain! 2 for 1 cocktails were lovely and the meals in the dining room were so tasty. Our room was in the Rock House with a view right over the water and was really clean with a comfy bed. No negatives!
- Victoria (6/5): - Location and views fantastic - lovely spa
- Helen (10/5): Great stay - will visit again - Great service and cosy interior. Superb location
- Fiona (7/5): - Beautiful building. Lovely spa. Dated decor, strange locations for light switches and sockets. Needs an update
- Susan (10/5): - So chilling and a beautiful old building,
Just takes you back in time, open fires and lovely coffee ☕️
- Shirley (10/5): Peaceful just wonderful our second visit - Breakfast was excellent. Any you could think of was there. Location views breathtaking location to town and promonade excellent Nothing everything excellent
- Swales (2/5): - The food was nice The spa wasn't clean and some facilities weren't working, no water available.
The rooms were all full of dust. It needs a good clean, not worth the price i paid for one night, stay over
- Paul (9/5): Lovely stay in grange over sands - The hotel is beautiful and the spa was clean and reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast and evening meals were excellent and reasonably priced. We didn't stay in the hotel but in a bungalow which was clean and comfortable but lacked the character and feel of the large hotel.
- Wendy (7/5): Nice weekend quite relaxing - Building is beautiful Very dark outside to go to our room in the rain , not hardly any lighting.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Brian (10/5): -
- Robert (5/5): Nice hotel, poor food. Great prom. - The room was good. Comfortable and the view of the bay was excellent. The hotel was warm even in the depths of winter. The breakfast was good. The dinner was very poor obviously precooked and delivered in a van. The standard was poor quality pub food. It ruined a otherwise enjoyable stay. We won't be back.
- Tenzeela (10/5): Great stay! - Was an amazing stay. We booked the chalet which was very spacious. The staff were very friendly. Would recommend. Nothing
- fiona (10/5): -
- Dianne (10/5): Relaxing - We got a deal which included B & B spa and afternoon tea was all so lovely and relaxing The beds were very hard
- Vaidas (7/5): Great stay, but with some minor issues. - We liked the hotel overall, it was just the fact that our room was completely separated from the main hotel, yes it was shown in the picture, I realised it when we were being checked in. The location was great, right on the seafront, the food was great too. As previously mentioned we didn't get overwhelmed by the fact that the room was away from the main hotel. In that room there were no signs about the boiling water from the tap, my wife burned her foot!
The light sensor at the balcony was going mad as soon it gone dark, so the light kept going on and off all night ( no switch to turn it off). Even though the thick curtains we were able to see that light show.
Small things like lubing the door hinges wouldn't harm. Furniture in the balcony needs an upgrade (like the one next door) it's covered in grime because of the humidity, no chance to sit down with cuppa and soak in the view.
And here goes the grand finale: SURPRISE FEE!!
When I was making the booking there was no mention about some credit towards the dinner (£35 p.p) it was straightforward HALF BOARD, to my unpleasant surprise I had to find out this during my dinner when I've seen it at the bottom of the menu. No such information was given through the booking site (Booking.com). I believe this would be very helpful to know.
- Gillan (5/5): -
- sandra (6/5): Disapointing - Fine Needs up dateing
- Clare (9/5): Lovely restful night away - Beautiful old hotel which has kept its charm
- McQueen (3/5): Won't be returning any time soon. - Our accommodation was surprisingly located in an annex separate from the main hotel, a fact that was not disclosed at the time of booking. My room had visible rising damp on one wall, and access to the main hotel required walking via an external pathway which, given the heavy rain, was far from ideal.
My colleague, who was also housed in the annex, was kept awake throughout the night due to a motion-activated security light positioned outside his room, which repeatedly activated with no apparent resolution.
On arrival, despite having prepaid for a full breakfast, we were informed that breakfast did not commence until 08:00. As we had a business meeting beginning at 08:45, this made breakfast impractical. A request for a refund of the prepaid breakfast was refused.
We also inquired about using the spa facilities, only to be told that the hotel does not operate the spa and that it was closing at 17:30, which was again disappointing and misleading.
Prior to dinner, we waited 15 minutes at an unattended bar with no staff present. After approaching reception, we were told staff were “probably busy,” and then had to wait a further 10 minutes before being served. Dinner itself was unremarkable, with food quality well below expectations.
On departure the following morning, we discovered that reception does not open until 08:00, requiring us to settle the account by telephone. When expressing our dissatisfaction, we were told the hotel “does not cater for younger guests,” a remark I found both inappropriate and puzzling, particularly as I am 65 years old.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. Service levels were consistently poor, communication lacking, and flexibility non-existent. The hotel felt more akin to a retirement facility, and staff need to significantly improve their approach to customer service. I would advise prospective guests to manage expectations carefully before booking.
- Liam (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): - Stayed here for my wifes birthday just before Christmas, very atmospheric entrance, was like stepping back in time with the wood paneling and fire crackling away. Decorated lovely, especially the archway into the bar area. The receptionist was fantastic, ( Rachel) we almost couldn't make the dates of our stay and she went out of her way to help us, was greatly appreciated. Food was fantastic and service great along with staff who I couldn't fault. Will definitely stay here again.
- Sandra (10/5): It was our first stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it - we will be back - Its location
It’s relaxed ambience
The facilities N/A - we loved the property
- Angharad (9/5): -
- Lauren (9/5): -
- Sabrina (10/5): -
- Jane (9/5): Enjoyable . - Food and staff were both great. I requested a room near the lift as I'm disabled, and they gave us one and with a walk in shower. Pillows on the bed were very flat leading to a poor first night's sleep. Staff at reception the next day sent two more pillows up. Whilst the room was near the lift, it was also over the kitchen door and staff arriving for for the early shift and taking breaks were right outside our window which caused some noise disturbance as well as the constant hum from the refrigeratoration units.
- Christopher (5/5): On this occasion, because of the lack of facilities in room - The hotel is very good, stayed before rating very good. On this visit we stayed in the rock cottage, the room was cold, during the night my wife woke up freezing cold she could not find any extra blankets in the room so she had to use pillow to keep warm.0
- Lorraine (7/5): Bedroom disappointment apart, we did have a very pleasant couple of days in a good location - Would have preferred the buffet breakfast food to be hotter as our sausage and bacon were cold.
Poached egg ordered were delicious and selection of cereals, yoghurts good.
Had Gammon and chips from the bar menu which was delicious and very good value for money.
Ella our breakfast server was excellent and
very friendly. Bedroom was disappointing. Wish we had upgraded for a bigger bed and better view.
- Courtney (6/5): Generally ok but I don’t think the cost can be justified. Spa was ok but even that there were a couple of things not sai - Beautiful views /land and lovely from the outside! Some of the staff weren’t overly welcoming, they answered questions etc but didn’t overdo it and the thing is little things like that do make a difference to your stay!
- Bronwen (8/5): Enjoyable - Views Squeaky floor boards
- David (5/5): Nice location, shocking food - Location was amazing Food was the worse I’ve had in years…. Shockingly bad. Mash potatoes were from a packet, seafood from a frozen packet and veg bad
- Aileen (9/5): -
- Suzanne (5/5): Disappointed - Location For the price would have expected breakfast, cooked to order not a buffet. Poor choice of cooked items.
- Aikaterini (10/5): -
- Jasmine (10/5): Beautiful stay - very peaceful - We stayed in room 25 with bay view and it was absolutely perfect. We had our meal at the hotel as well as the breakfast which was outstanding. The spa WOW was gorgeous had it all!
- Ian (7/5): Still enjoyed out one night stay - The room was good, but a little further away from the main building than i expected, dinner and breakfast were good, breakfast hot food plates need to be a little warmer, then food placed on the plates also stays warm. The dark walkway to the room late at night, think it could be possible to lighten the walkway a little better.
- Adam (6/5): - Breakfast was excellent and room was pleasant, good location to see the lakes. The hot water was not working which was a shame. I was only there for one night so I must have just been unfortunate.
- Chris (8/5): Very enjoyable. - All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Travel by taxi to and from the hotel was poor. This seems to be the case in the Grange over Sands area.
- Peter (5/5): -
- karen (10/5): -
- Cathy (9/5): Most enjoyable, exceeded expectations. -
- Eileen (8/5): Relaxing and enjoyable. - The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. The location on the edge of town made access easy to shops and sea front. There were great views over the sea.
- Peter (10/5): Lovely! - Excellent food and accomodation!! Lovely gardens. Close to the centre of Grange for easy access to the town. Great staff and very comfortable, i will visit again! Nothing!
- Kevin (5/5): Disappointed as booked for special occasion but letwould not stay here again - Good location, looked great from outside Tiny room classed as standard; view from window was a brick wall that you could touch from the window; shower wasn’t very clean; a couple of rude and unhelpful staff; customer service.
- Carlina (8/5): -
- Alicia (10/5): Perfection in every way, the staff, the property, and the food were all exceptional! - Gorgeous property and grounds. The staff were incredible and the food was amazing. I couldn’t recommend enough, we had the perfect birthday trip. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Ian (7/5): very good as all ways - view from room over morcomb bay.nicely fitted out outside lights on all night
- Richard (9/5): Lovely romantic stay around Christmas time. Great food and drinks - A beautiful kept historical building with a lovely atmosphere, particularly at Christmas
Lovely grounds and easy flat walks accessible along the coast Nothing
- Dean (10/5): Amazing hotel and lovely staff - The property was beautiful and the chalet was exceptionally comfortable. Loved the hot tub and the bed was enormous. Nothing it was great
- Lucy (10/5): If you want to feel like you’re a princess living In a castle stay here 😂 - Wonderful stay with my fiancée & dad. Everything perfect the room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had in the lakes The only tiny disappointment was the Christmas options on the menu. The turkey Christmas dinner was not great - I think microwaved maybe as most of it was soggy. Anyway such a minor detail as the meal we had the night before was exceptional.
- COLIN MICHAEL (9/5): -
- Miles (9/5): We come back time and time again - Wonderful relaxing break It’s old school cosy
- Francis (8/5): -
- Will (8/5): - the rooms were very clean, the only problem was we could hear the neighbours, so we were woken up to the sound of a crying baby. Drinks menu could have been better too The menu, seemed like it was doing too much, could have been simpler
- Wayne (10/5): -
- Hayley (10/5): -
- James (9/5): Great hotel, great visit! - A great hotel with character and charm, excellent service and food. My room was spacious and warm, the bed comfortable, Real log fires in the lounge and the foyer add to the feeling that you are in a country house, I ahve stayed here several times over the last few years and this hotel never disappoints. Nothing
- Graeme (9/5): One night stay, great evening meal, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. - The old country style of the hotel was lovely with lots of history. Great views over the bay The bathroom needed a little updating and the shower pressure was terrible
- Jagdeep (10/5): -
- mike (9/5): Very enjoyable - Great! Personal attention from staff to my dietary needs Everything was satisfactory
- Julie (10/5): We all felt very relaxed and superbly looked after by excellent staff. - Very attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and service in the restaurant and at breakfast. We'll appointed rooms.
Loved the Christmas decorations.
A very relaxing environment.
Also, not forgetting the comfy bed and instant hot water. Some of the pillows didn't give sufficient support.
Everything else was great including decor and furniture all contributing to a lovely ambience throughout the hotel.
- Liam (10/5): -
- Carmichael (9/5): -
- stuart (10/5): -
- Rafal (9/5): - Beautiful grounds, lovely fire in lounge, good food, you can bring dogs You can't use the spa at anytime, would have been good if there was an outdoor hot tub
