Guest Reviews
- Miles (2/5): Disgusting Service - Booked 2 Rooms & when we arrived the Host said she wasn't letting out Rooms anymore so we were stuck at 7.30pm with nowhere to stay. Having trouble getting a Refund from you.
Definitely wouldn't recommend.
- JOHN (10/5): - Nothing unique, so what? See previous comments for why we liked it.
- crawford (2/5): - Host cancelled due to COVID the evening before.
- Bob (2/5): terrible - When i arrived the property was deserted. neighbours told me they were away. the postcode was nowhere near the property. i emailed the owner and got no response. i had to find alternative accomodation late at night
- Keith (8/5): - This is a lovely old farmhouse away from the noise of roads and town. Barbara (and Fergus the Labrador) is very welcoming. Large comfortable bedroom with sofa, good breakfast, nice lounge/TV room to relax in and splendid views. If anything needs attention I would say that some of the bathroom fittings (taps, etc) will need upgrading soon but nothing to distract from a great 5 night stay.
- John (10/5): - it was execellent no complaints
- Rachael (10/5): Lovely B&B - Had a lovely stay at The Old Farmhouse. The people were really lovely and accommodating to us helping us out with having an early check in, quickly showing us to our room because we had to rush off to a wedding. Lovely full English breakfast, catering to vegetarians too with a view of the beautiful countryside. Would definitely come back again soon
- Clare (10/5): Lovely and peaceful b&b - Friendly welcome, helpful hosts, lovely rooms and lounge area. Stayed one night to break journey down from Scotland and it was peaceful with tremendous views. Breakfast was delicious. Would recommend.
- Rebekah (10/5): Absolute gem of a place - Fantastic place to stay, owners were lovely, couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Quiet location, comfy bed, great breakfast, huge bathroom, wonderful views from the bedroom window during the day, and the amount of stars to be seen at night was amazing
and also a lovely dog to welcome you back in each day. Really enjoyed my stay here, thank you.
- Ruth (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - Absolutely wonderful stay, they could not have done more for us
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The personal service - preparing me a take-away breakfast on the last day as I was leaving early
One bathroom was shared by three guest rooms which was challenging at times
- DAVID (6/5): Almost there - Lovely quiet location, although I had to wait for about 30 minutes to be let in.
Confused about what I could/couldn't use from the fridge which was in the public area. Alcohol was also in this unlocked fridge which would have been accessible to children. There were also out of date food items in the fridge.
Storing teas and coffees in an old, dusty, take away container doesn't look very nice. The old loo rolls on the window sill from one day to the next, likewise!
The breakfasts were good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is great and the place has that charm of a B n B you have seen in the movies. We felt very welcomed and were given great travel tips as well. Would highly recommend .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bed head board was broke pillow kept falling throw..apart from that all was good..breakfast very nice
- Rosemary (8/5): Farm House Stay - The room was comfortable and clean, but a bit cramped in size. The curtains were very light with no blind or otherwise to obscure the light. The view was very limited. There appeared to be rooms with better views which I assume were not available.
Overall the hosts were very nice and helpful.
Other breakfast options could have been indicated
- William (8/5): - 1 night stay to visit local attractions
Very friendly reception and service.
Room spacious and comfortable
And excellent breakfast
A few points to note however which are not intended as criticisms
1. Sat nav postcode location May not be
accurate
Search instead for address
2. Proprieter (at our time of visit) does not accept card payments - so prepare for cash or bank transfer payments.
3. In room amenities include coffee satchets with powdered milk - so if you want it black ask on arrival or bring your own.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Although we stayed the five nights booked, we would not recommend this property for a holiday to anyone. It was in a pleasant enough location but in places it was dusty, towels were sometimes provided but washed out and the proprietor operated in an unbusiness-like manner. No card or cheque facility for payment but was asked to do a bank transfer to an account that could not be properly verified by our bank. At £90 a night we would have hoped for the excellent standard we experienced at other guest houses visited during our holiday which were all at a slightly lower rate.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A beautiful location, in a character filled “Old Farmhouse”.
The Hostess, Barbara is a warm & friendly person, providing a wonderful welcome.
Full English breakfast was both tasty & plentiful.
Ideal base for Lindisfarne, Holy Island & Berwick upon Tweed.
- Debbie (8/5): Comfortable and friendly farmhouse - Lovely farmhouse on a working farm.
Barbara was very friendly and welcoming as was her morning helper too, sorry cannot remember her name.
Fergus the resident Labrador was a very friendly and welcoming addition, eager for a cuddle or 3.
Rooms were nice, the gold room was very spacious. Beds comfy too.
The tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms needed to be more Covid friendly.
The full English breakfast was really tasty, fresh fruits and with freshly made bread, this added an extra nice touch.
I thought it needed a good dusting, but maybe being a working farm, this was the reason. Definitely visit again as fairly close to Holy Island and Banburgh. This farmhouse is a good drive away to nearest pub/ restaurant, so transport is needed.
Would definitely visit again.
- Alexander (10/5): Good night's sleep. - Very comfy bed, nice spacious room and very peaceful. Had a very good night's sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - everything was spot on . and an amazing breakfast.very noticeable how big a standard this place is.spotlesly clean.will be returning.thank you.
- Fiona (8/5): - Glorious view of The Cheviot hills in the distance. Beautifully tranquil location with a gentle morning wake up call from the cattle outside the window, waiting for their breakfast.
Helpful hosts who made up a packed breakfast for our early departure.
- Tasha (10/5): - Lovely place & staff. Really friendly and gave good advice on where to go in Scotland. Thanks for having us
- Gary (10/5): - The accommodation is amazing, food is great and the view is amazing also the patrons are amazing will go out of there way to help you
- Bryony (10/5): Lovely rural retreat - Lovely welcome, I had difficulty finding the place via sat nav and they talked me in. Good breakfast with a lovely view and a comfortable room.
- Laurence (10/5): - Very friendly and a great base for lindisfarne and the Northumberland coast, breakfast was fab and our kids loved the jacuzzi bath. We booked at short notice but were very impressed. Would definitely book again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Remote farmhouse - OK, very remote, good if all you need is a bed.
A farmhouse & as such not as clean as a typical B & B.
Friendly dog in residence & evident by doggy smell but not in the room, which was a good size shower very good. Heating not on all night, which was need, so my head got cold.
Hosts available if you want a bit of a chat.
Will leave a take away breakfast if you start early.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fabulous view from the conservatory where we had breakfast. Really enjoyed sitting in the garden reading our books as the sun went down.
- Paul (10/5): - Mint place
- Robert (8/5): Extremely friendly and caring, but dated - Very welcoming and friendly. Rooms well looked after, good breakfast etc. However, quite remote location and the rooms are very dated in the end therefore not very comfortable
- Red (6/5): Handy for the A1 - We just needed somewhere to break a long journey. If you're coming from the A1 don't follow your satnav when it tells you to turn right near Oxford Farm. Keep going towards Ancroft until you see the sign which says 'Farmhouse B&B' (NB not 'Old Farmhouse')
You'll receive a warm welcome from owners & dogs.
- Simon (4/5): Incorrect information; disappointing. - Beware - there seems to be differences between the information they present on Expedia and that in place at the B&B itself with regard to check-in times (more limited) and payment methods (signs in room say cash only...).
Dogs are present in the house and clearly have accessed the guest rooms - this is not mentioned above.
It's probably a nice location if you actively want a remote rural farmhouse, with all that entails (wind, smells, accommodation within the main farmhouse).
- Liz (8/5): NICE! - Lovely old house, not posh but clean & comfortable. Proprietors were very friendly & welcoming. Breakfast was plentiful & tasty & whilst a shared bathroom is not my first choice it was spotlessly clean with a huge shower & humongous bath. There is a nice lounge to sit in with a super size TV but the room had a small set with Freeview. The base was broken but a little ingenuity with a teaspoon soon fixed it. The dining room looks out onto an amazing valley with views to enjoy & a lovely patio to sit in better weather. Overall for the price a really great stay.
- Stuart (10/5): Excellent - A most enjoyable stay at this picturest hotel. Would go back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very warm welcome. Greeted outside and as I was in a van, I was even guided in to park.
Warm staff, very friendly and helpful.
Lovely room, clean and tidy. Have everything I needed in the room.
Thank you Old Farm House for a very restful and relaxing stay. Just what the doctor ordered. :)
- Donna (10/5): Beautiful - really beautiful place to stay
- Michael (4/5): Tired decor, uncomforta poor low quality breakfast - The room decor is tired and it's shared bathroom except for the dbl room. Uncomfortable beds. The worst breakfast I had in some time. People were nice....but left allot to be desired.
- Louise (8/5): A lovely rural rest stop - Very friendly hosts and an excellent breakfast overlooking the fields. The place is very comfortable and was a bargain for the price. Make sure you know where this place is before setting out to find it as there's only one small sign directing you from the road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice B&B - Soft, comfy beds. Nice hosts. Great breakfast. It was difficult to find at first as my gps was confused.
- Alex (10/5): Great countryside experience - It was a great experience at an authentic English farm. There were cows just outside the porch which made us very happy. The service was really good and we had a nice time.
- Diane (10/5): Brilliant - Superb B&B accommodation. We had the Gold room with a very comfortable bed and the best nights sleep in a long time. Very friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
- John (10/5): A lovely hospitable B&B in a fantastic location! - Barbara, Fiona and Eric did their utmost to make us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived! We loved staying here and would happily book again for another weeks stay when we can.
This old Farm House seems remote with its beautiful panoramic views across open fields to the Cheviots from the breakfast room; what a delight to enjoy breakfast every morning with!
A full cooked and continental breakfast was available every morning for all of us and any special requirements were attended to.
My family and I stayed in the family room which shared a large bathroom, with jacuuzi and large shower cubilcle, with a single room however this didn't affect ourselves as the single room was not occupied during our weeks stay.
We made good use of the guest lounge which had a sofa and two chairs, large TV, tea & coffee making facilities and a large fridge/freezer for guests use. This proved invaluable for storing our packed lunches during the week. This room allowed us, as a family of 4, to completely relax and enjoy our meals on many nights.
The Farm House, although remote, was an easy 5 minutes drive from the A1 and this allowed us to visit various locations including: Holy Island (tides dependent), Cragside House, Alnwick Castle, Farne Islands and Kelso. Berwick upon Tweed was only a 10 minute drive from the Farm House which proved handy for visiting ASDA for supplies on an evening.
- jonathan (10/5): Lovely isolated farm in the countryside - Nice rural farm bed and breakfast in the country
- Philip (10/5): Lovely peaceful farmhouse B&B handy for local attr - A lovely peaceful location in good striking distance of Berwick and local attractions. Very friendly obliging owners.
- Paul (4/5): Pretty but difficult to find - We only found the hotel after ringing the owner for directions then when we got there the cups and kettle were dirty and there was no hot water. The owners were lovely and the room itself was fine but all in all it was disappointing.
- Louise (10/5): Friendly, comfortable night's stay - Location felt reassuringly remote although not far from the A1 and Berwick - ideal for a stay on our way to Scotland. We were made very welcome, particularly our children and the cosy Guest lounge was perfect after our long drive. Amazing views in the morning over a hearty breakfast - we all loved the sausages!
- John (10/5): Perfect Little Gem - The hotel was beautiful and lovely. A secrect little gem out of the way of the hustle and bustle. Great location and easy access to the A1 and within driving distance to places such a holy island and bamburgh.
Will definitely recommend and cant wait for another visit
- Richard (10/5): off the beaten track but worth it - Well off the beaten track, so far off sat nav couldn't find it.. but when we did a warm welcome was awaiting us, good nights sleep as so quiet and the breakfast, cooked to order was superb... would definitely book again...
- Verified traveler (10/5): A real getaway - Lovely host, lovely homelike atmosphere, very isolated from the real world.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Although difficult to find, this is a great place to stay. Good service and very good breakfast.
