• Minnie (1/5): - It was lees than 5 minutes from the big south fork railway The office smelled like a little box The hostess had on dirty clothes The room had dirty sheets and the blanket had literal jizz spots all over it.. The toilet had poop on the inside of the lid. A lot of poop. The floors hadnt been swept in a very long time. The bath tub had a ring around it. Fly infested. Booking.com is featuring a trap house by advertising this place on their sight.

• Payton (1/5): Staff was nice, the room must not have been used in a while the staff member had to go in and plug everything up before - Pet friendly, my service animal was welcomed I was bitten on my right ankle by a spider, my ankle I had two puncture wounds and was sore,swollen and a large patch of skin was discolored, now I have a permanent discoloration around the area the two puncture marks were.

Room stunk, sheets were stained, bathroom not clean and bar of soap left from previous person. And to top it all off got people living there in adjoining room (crack heads). Didn't feel safe or worth taking the risk of how filthy it was.

• Guest (1/5): We decided NOT to stay the night at this place - When we arrived to our room I always check for bedbug or any thing else as soon as I turn the covers down there was blood spots on the comforter and a bed bug I told the manager they did offer another room but after that I just didn’t feel comfortable staying there so we turned the key in and left.
• Marie (4/5): Waterfall Tours Passing through KY - I should have read more reviews before booking for 2 night's. The staff was very friendly. The main thing was the bed & bathroom was clean. This is definitely not your normal hotel stay. There was no hand/bath soap or hand towels or bath mat, or hairdryer which i asked for on arriving.There was 2 wash clothes and 2 bath towels, 2 packs of 1 cup coffee and cups. They did give us more the next morning but although the open sign was on OPEN no one was in the office, so rang bell and met someone walking back to room who asked did you ring the bell. What room # and husband told her and she replied oh Y'all owe for damages! Excuse me?? There's just us 2 in room and I know we've not caused any damages. She was still asleep and said oh im sorry it was before you in that room. Not sure if they had just taken out the carpet and put in other flooring but it was sticky and dirty and the room had a musty odor which i was prepared for with air freshener. Outside on arrival was trash bags and trash around multiple rooms. Ours had ants everywhere from trash which I picked up the one bag by our door and took it to the dumpster and reported the ants to maintenance man that was later outside but other trash still there upon leaving. The stay before this was about the same price and much better accommodations. Lesson learned.... read more reviews.

• Jessica (1/5): Not worth the price difference to the other place - Location was good and owner(guy) was cool The 1st room was disgusting the bedding was dirty It was infested with ants. I asked the lady for a clean bedding and she was like we clean and sanitize everything and we have no other rooms available so the first night there was ants that got in the bed and they covered the table beside the bed. I called to get a refund where they said they had no rooms available. The owner seen me outside and he made her change rooms. The second room smelt like straight wet dog once the floors dried. No wash clothes was brought to the new room so we had to go buy some to use. they put white powdered stuff along the wall for ants people was outside our room and was talking loud and partying all night. Tried to call the office because the Wi-Fi was not working so we cannot watch TV. No answer. I highly recommend spending the extra money to stay somewhere else.

• Glenna (2/5): Skip this place - I arrived around 9:30pm, not sure why but my gps took the long way - I drove down from Cleveland, OH. Since I had prepaid for the room, I didn’t feel it was necessary to contact the property. When I arrived, there was a note on the door that gave a phone number to call, indicating they were cleaning rooms. The woman said the owner gave my room away because I was a “no show” because “most people check in around 2pm.” When I said that I had already paid for the room, she quickly said she would refund me, and I asked where I was supposed to find a hotel in the middle of no where at 10pm. She then said she would clean a room for me to use but it would take around 30 minutes. I really needed a bathroom and she said there was nothing to use because the room was dirty and the office didn’t have a public bathroom. The room had no lamp, just an overhead light plus the light over sink & bathroom. The sink & bathtub were either dirty or very stained. The towels and bedding were clean and the bed & pillows were comfortable, although two pillows had no pillow cases on them. The refrigerator worked.

The knobs fell off the lower drains for the faucet also fell off inside the tub could not use the shower cause I cannot control the heat. Water was too hot with stalled. You reported it said they would fix it. The next day came back the next afternoon, it was not fixed so I ended up spending two days without taking a shower
• BARFESSER (2/5): It's not the worst place we've stayed but it's very close. - Location is great for the Big South Fork Scenic Railway. That's the one good thing I can say about this motel. We booked this motel for two nights but only spent one. We had to call for access to the office for both check-in and check-out. The walls had been painted multiple times with what I believe is simple flat paint and never sealed. You can still smell the cigarette smoke leaching from the walls. The room was not clean. The lady was pleasant but that did little to persuade us to stay a second night. Our door was lock checked in the middle of the night and someone sat outside our door for awhile. We left the TV on at the index screen to play music. At about 2:30am we woke up to a phonographic show. No smoke detector, no door stop plate for the chain. dirty towels, no carpet, no discount. Management said they were remodeling but what it needs is a total gut and replacement by reputable contractors.

Office smelt like a cat litter box. The lodge does NOT look as on website! The pool was unavailable for Saturday to guests of lodge due to private party. Room was dirty! It was dirty, the toilet had remnants from the last people that stayed there. there was no one there to check us in, it needs quality repairs, not a bandaid, we paid for 3 people in our room and only had 2 towels. When we asked for another towel we were told they didn't have any... the pool was closed, the game room was closed. If you're looking for a place to stay for a reasonable price, stay in your car, it's probably going to be cleaner. I like to support small business, but, if you're going to run a hotel, it must be clean and professionally ran. There were several people that appeared to be living there, it was not a safe or inviting feeling.

The toilet paper roll was empty. There was no coffee or cups for the coffeemaker (I went to the office, rang the bell, and got the needed items.) Staff was very pleasant, but they are woefully understaffed.

The property was dirty and felt completely unsafe. The parking lot had individuals who appeared to be drug heads hanging around, which made us very uncomfortable. The overall uncleanliness and lack of security were so concerning that we decided to leave immediately. I consider this a learning experience and strongly believe that Booking.com should not list this property.

I slept under the sheets. Not too clean. When I pulled back my sheets, there was a dead roach. I have bite marks on ankles.

I won't be staying here again.It has gotten NASTY!

McCreary County is a beautiful, scenic place with few places to stay...we were lucky to find this wonderful little oasis. Room did not have a telephone, which was not needed anyway. I wanted to write a positive review quickly so that this great place gets as much exposure as possible. The hosts are very kind and helpful. We hope this little business succeeds....it certainly has the market! Blessings to its success and to all that needs a quiet rest for a weary soul...

• JERUSHA ANNE (6/5): - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I didn’t bring my cat as I felt that the fee of $100 was excessive for this property especially compared to 4-5 star properties who charge way less, and then I arrive and there are cats everywhere. If you are allergic don’t stay here. I love cats and enjoyed it, except for the male cat spray smell in our room. When I was signing in a cat jumped up on the counter beside me and as an owner of cats that told me there’s cat on everything there. Again, I love them and so it didn’t bother me but plenty of people wouldn’t be able to stay. I thought the property was cute but it appears people are living there with their children and there was a broken down vehicle parked at our building. Inside the room, I could tell someone had cared to decorate it nicely and it was mostly clean. However, there was hair on the bathtub and the bath mat in both our rooms was horrific with stains. Not one or two but the entire mat looked filthy. We had two towels and two wash rags in each room, no hand towels and upon arrival someone was sent to our room to “plug stuff in”. The ice machine is broken. The shower in one of our rooms didn’t work so they had to come over and use ours. Overall I was a little disappointed because I thought we were paying for the room that is featured in the advertised pictures but if you look closely that is a Deluxe room only and you won’t get the little kitchenette in the other rooms.
• Hughesml123 (10/5): Fantastic experience - This place was amazing. Glendon in the front office couldn't have been kinder or more accomodating. I called late the night before thanksgiving, after packimg up at an unexpectedly terrible HipCamp and he gave me a dog friendly room (two big labs) and a nice quiet spot where they wouldnt bother neighbors if they barked (which they didnt because the hotel was SO QUIET!!!) The room was spotlesss and smelled better than many chain hotels ive been in. I couldnt recommend this place enough if youre headed to Big South Fork or Daniel Boone for some recreation. Thanks again Glendon and Big Sputh Fork Lodge for beimg exactly what i needed after spening a week camping in the woods. Oh and the mattresses were really nice!
• Murphy (1/5): Our stay was a great disappointment but it was just for one night. - The location was great. The plumbing in both rooms was below acceptable. The commodes in both rooms were child sized. Tried to shower and both the faucet and spigot fell off. One room didn't have a TV the other didn't have a remote. There were chip and breaks in the laminate flooring. There was dust everywhere. I knew when booking that this was an older motel and I was not expecting the amenities of a chain, but clean and repaired would have been nice. When traveling with children you book for convenience of location after traveling a distance. I read the reviews and looked at all the pictures, but not sure how long ago these were taken. The motel needs a lot of attention.

• Tina (4/5): Overpriced. Very dated facility. - Very dated. They did make an effort to make it nice, but it was like putting lipstick on a pig.
• Erin (6/5): Okay for what it is - Rooms were generally clean and bathrooms were in good working order. Rooms were also surprisingly quiet. This was a good stop before we hit the Sheltowee though. Beds sloped at an alarming angle. We also had several house flies that buzzed us all night long. Comforter had cigarette burns. TV didn't work as there was no signal and the Roku wouldn't connect to their wifi.

• Anonymous (3/5): Poor - Location Was dirty. Sheets, pillow cases and the blankets were all stained. Shower over flowed into the floor due to it not draining.
• David (6/5): - Very rustic. Looks like they are trying to improve the inside of the rooms. Had some issues with the shower and the towels were clean but stained.

• Robin (4/5): It met the need of a bed for the night at a cheep price. - Location good for park area. Staff was kind. Mattress comfortable. Price was good. Shower didn’t drain. Only one of us got a shower. Light cover looks like about to fall.
