Guest Reviews
- Sally (8/5): - The welcoming and helpful staff

- The G-Man (7/5): Would recommend - although still room for improvements. - Great location for exploring Brecon. Having a gym and pool/spa onsite is a plus. Lovely food, friendly staff. Electric car charging. (Domestic) Minor repairs and maintenance need to be addressed. These thingsWoul make for a good score, rather than a great score.
The mattresses on the beds need an upgrade. Fully sprung and you will feel and hear it when you move. Coffee and Tea facilities in the room feel like an afterthought as elements needed were missing.
- Robert (8/5): - very nice service noise of the fan in the bathroom
- Geoff (8/5): -
- Judith (9/5): A delightful stay in lovely surroundings. - Our room was great, spacious and clean on the ground floor. Only one or two additions would have completed the stay - would have been good to have a foldaway suitcase stand, a beaker in the bathroom and a soap dish in the shower. Breakfast was very good, perhaps some fruit would have been nice, if only prunes!! Nothing
- Adrian (8/5): Great time away with family in perfect location - Great friendly staff - great food
- Ian (8/5): - great room, nice food, excellent staff, good leisure facilities left a pair of expensive running shoes in the room on departure by accident, apparently housekeeping failed to find them, despite them being bright orange and the only thing in the bathroom, several phone calls and nothing, no phone calls or emails despite being told I would receive them. My fault entirely for leaving them, but definitely the hotel's fault for whoever serviced the room not owning up to finding them. This overshadowed a lovely one night stay, I should take better care of my stuff, hopefully they weren't thrown out, but someone gets a PB using them🤷
- ALISON JANE (7/5): - We have been numerous times. Enjoy location and staff. Dinner always excellent Television in room not working. Hotel looking a little tired. Window sills were filthy.
Breakfast room far too hot to enjoy food.
- Anthony (5/5): A beautiful location but alot of easy ‘wins’ that could be implemented throughout the hotel to improve and elevate the e - The location was perfection for hiking The Brecons Unclean Spa, stingy tea facilities in room (no teaspoons even), tired and dilapidated inside
- lee (5/5): Great location and food but hotel needs a refurbishment - The location was great and the staff were very good. It was clean and tidy everywhere with good food aswell. It is looking old and dated with lots of repairs needed and updates . Missing tiles and sharp edges in the jacuzzi actually make it dangerous to use ,pumps hardly working . All doorways and walls need a freshen up . We had a double room that was just two single beds pushed together making it uncomfortable and moving apart.
No shower in the room.
- Ellen (6/5): Working progress but showers should be a priority over everything. - Great location and food fab. I just couldn’t understand why are 3 x twin rooms couldn’t have been at least on the same corridor considering how long in advance I booked it, Non existent showers in the room. Dirty and cheap public leisure centre style showers in the health suite too.
- Gregory (5/5): A hotel with great potential that is clearly being run badly, with poor oversight on cleanliness. - The location was fabulous and the grounds were nice - decent surroundings and peaceful. Most of the staff were friendly and were all very helpful when we had questions. Free parking was nice and the bar section looked cosy. The pool was fantastic, the best bit of the whole place and the only bit that felt clean and tidy. Our booking stated that we would have a view and a bath. Our room faced a dirty flat roofed area with noisy kitchen extraction units running until 9pm, and had no view. There was also no bath, just a shower - the bathroom was grubby and dusty. We asked to change to a room that matched our booking and were told that it was an error on the booking and that they were fully booked and had no spare rooms. The breakfast was mediocre, with tough bacon and everything was over-salted. We were not keen to use the restaurant as we had originally planned, and ate in Brecon instead.
- Lucy (4/5): -
- Tommy (8/5): Adequate for what we were looking for - Good food… rooms dated but comfortable…spa facilities could be better Jaquzzi not very good
- Joseph (10/5): Will return again and again 👍 - Have stayed here several times over the past year, very nice spot with kind friendly staff
- Omar (7/5): -
- Jayde (7/5): - Quiet Bed was 2 single push together
- Shelagh (5/5): Location great and grounds beautifully maintained. Decor tired and dated. Food and staff excellent. - Location Mattress needs to be renewed, very saggy. Lamp shade had a rip in it. Decor dated. Nails in wall with no pictures.
- gregory (3/5): Very poor, very dirty ,the bed was broken the draw handle and cupboard handles missing .there loads - Just location The whole place was dirty, the sink fell off the side , shower pole rust dripping, toilet back keeps coming off ,the room and place very tried the spa it's falling apart I was sit on the glue not the tiles I was glad to get out from there very poor don't stay there
- Claire (10/5): Valentines evening - Loved everything Nothing
- Richard (10/5): - Very clean, and friendly staff, ideal place to stay to explore the Breacons
- Steve (8/5): Great place to stay but in need of maintenance and refresh - Great setting and staff Looking tired and dated in need of a refresh
- Justine (10/5): Excellent accommodation beautiful area loved wales - It was a nice place to stay the staff was very welcoming and ideal for location
- Bridget (6/5): - Lovely spa & restaurant The bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in.
- CHRISTOPHER (8/5): -
- Kyle (10/5): -
- Megan (9/5): -
- Kerry (8/5): Great location to explore. Friendly and good facilities - Great location to explore the Brecons especially Pen Y Fan. Good pool and spa facilities. Good sized room. Nice breakfast selection. Friendly staff. Beds too soft and dipped in middle. Only one bedside lamp which didnt work. No walks directly from hotel.
- Deborah (8/5): As enjoyable as ever. - We stay here frequently and always enjoy the lovely, freshly cooked to order breakfast. We also like eating in the restaurant in the evenings, but it's expensive, but that does reflect the quality of the food, which is excellent. The staff are really kind and friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable about the dishes. The hotel is very quiet, being set well off a main, busy road and most residents are couples. There is no phone signal, tho internet connection is free, but if you need to make a phone call, the landline phone in the room is free to use. The bed isn't very comfortable, I think the mattresses need updating. I've heard the same complaint from other residents. The issue really needs to be addressed as staying in a hotel, even if it's just overnight, a good night's sleep is essential. Overall, the decor looks "tired" and the hotel needs some tlc.
- Deborah (8/5): Another lovely break! - We stay here regularly so the staff are like friends. We love it! It's not easy to get to without a car, but it's therefore very quiet, set well back from the main route from Merthyr to Brecon. The food is excellent. Overall, the hotel could do with some tlc. A big hole appearing in the ceiling in the dining room and it's almost got a shabby air. We don't use the spa or gym, but we know people who do and know non residents who spend a lot of time there.
- Colin (10/5): A wonderful stay in the Welsh countryside - Our room was extremely comfortable and clean the view was fantastic I was able to park my car outside the door the pool was warm and clean the steam room and sauna was very pleasant all the staff are extremely polite and friendly the food was fantastic especially the eggs Benedict was was cooked fresh every morning the buffet which went with it had more than enough choices it was a shame we had to leave we will definitely be going back Nothing
- Felicia (8/5): - Overall the hotel was good value for money.
- NADIA (8/5): It was an idylic, peaceful stay - The hotel was set in a beautiful location and had a beautiful charm with added benefits of a spa facilities and gym. The breakfast was nice although being vegetarian limited our choices. Our superior room was spacious and overlooked a stream which was nice to listen to at times. overall all it was a nice stay. Unfortunately the only issue we had was the beds. We were unpgraded to another room as the bed on the ground floor was less than adequate. You could feel the springs, it was soft and made noises when sat on. We we were upgraded to another room and the bed once again was not adequate however better than the first. This was our only complaint.
- Kelly (10/5): -
- James (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great location and great food - This place is in an ideal location if you like your walking and hiking.
Comfortable, clean and very friendly. The food was amazing too. Highly recommend 👍 Nothing
- Chris (6/5): -
- Gareth (9/5): The food was top notch but the wonderful staff made the stay. - The facilities were excellent, the food exceptional , the staff were first class. We will definitely return. I slept well enough but my wife found the bed noisy and the mattress uncomfortable, will get single beds next visit, needs to invest in a maintenance programme as tired in some areas, but overall a fantastic stay.
- Scott (8/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - Separate bedroom and sitting room Slight bit of damp around some windows and whole room needed modernisation
- Diane (8/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay at Nant Ddu Lodge and would definately return. - We arrived at approx 5.15 pm on Saturday 20/03/2026 and were greeted very warmly by the lady on reception .
Our room was a lovely size and very clean.
Breakfast was excellent, as was our evening meal on Saturday 21st March (Main Course and Dessert.) It was the first time my husband had eaten Pheasant and he enjoyed it so much he had it again on our second night .I had the Sirloin steak (medium rare ) which was cooked to perfection. The dessert was the best we had eaten in a long while. It was the Apple and Rhubarb Tart with Creme Anglaise and Ice-cream.
I have to give a special mention to the staff in the Restaurant who were very pleasant (especially the breakfast staff) and all were hardworking, nothing was too much trouble. The Evening meal on Friday 20th March from my perspective (I had the lamb stack in jus ) was a little dry and in my opinion needed more sauce and was luke warm).
Shower in our room was not hot enough, too fierce and could not be regulated.
I would also suggest a new mattress be considered as ours was not very comfortable (Problem with the springs very lumpy).
- David keith (8/5): Brilliant location and fundamentally great facilities and dining. - My partner loved the pool and spa It would have been nice to have functional wifi. The green exit light in the room (on all night both nights) was almost bright enough to read by and made it difficult to sleep until I wedged a towel over it.
- ♡Emily♡ (10/5): Beautiful, Comfy & Great for the money. - Loved the Location! Surrounded by beautiful scenery. out of the way & peaceful.
The Pool was the perfect temperature.
The staff are all very welcoming & Happy to help with anything. Breakfast was spot on! I wouldn't change a thing!
- Romano (4/5): -
- johanna (10/5): Perfect - Location fab staff lovely
- Aaron (10/5): -
- STEVEN (10/5): -
- Jr (4/5): Passed a thousand times, looked lovely, but was very disappointed to say the least. - Good location, food was very good, Booked a double, got two singles pushed together, mattresses were poor, not joined, no mattress topper or cover, bathroom was dirty, check out the air vents!!! Tired tired tired, even the doors look dirty..TV signal was bad…..don’t go for a relaxing stay
- Ross (10/5): -
- John (10/5): -
- Colbeck (7/5): Wonderful staff and food, but sleep was a struggle - I was very happy with the location and the room itself was actually quite nice. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was very good. The bed really let down the entire experience. The mattress was worn out and very uncomfortable, and the frame was so creaky that it made it impossible to get a good night's rest. In fact, we were so exhausted from the lack of sleep that we ended up leaving before breakfast. It’s a shame, as everything else was great, but the quality of the bed really overshadowed the stay.
- Isabella (8/5): Really great stay - Really welcoming staff. Lovely comfortable bed. Good spa facilities. Interior decor was a bit dated and there were a few cobwebs in the dining room that needed a clean. Hot tub was nice but no one could figure out how to use it. Really good evening food. But vegetarian breakfast was not the best quality.

- Darren (6/5): Convenient location for our plans. - The leisure facilities were open until late evening. & the property was warm.
The receptionist was very polite and informative and was greeted with a friendly, happy spirit. The walls had evidence of damp running down them, Tiles missing from jacuzzi which was rather off putting and refrained from using.
we had a 1st floor bedroom and the floor boards were extremely squeaky which were frustrating.
Overall the property is crying out for investment/refurbishment
Sunday morning breakfast the waitress was extremely abrupt and had an attitude like she didn’t want to be there, she wasn’t very welcoming!.
- Row (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Evans (9/5): Will return - Location, ambience and friendliness of staff, the food was superb, and log fires made it so cosy, thanks once again Del & Ian
- Patrick (9/5): Perfect location for trips to the Brecon Beacons - After a long drive and a full day of hiking in the mountains it was a like heaven to get there take a bath and crash out. Id been travelling for a log time before checking in so skipped dinner and went for breakfast. Amazing food and great service. I do like a hotel with tea making facilities in the room, always a plus for me .I'll be back here again soon. . The room looked a bit dated but that wasn't a showstopper
- Mari (8/5): Our first visit left us impressed and we’ll be going back. - Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Staff were very friendly throughout the hotel. We would definitely go back for a return visit. Spa area slightly tired. Used towels piled up in changing room - although clients should have placed them in the large container in the corridor, they had clearly not done so and I would have expected a staff member to check this on a regular basis. Our room needed some maintenance tweaks eg the windowsill . Although the bar area was cosy, it felt as though it needed some fresh eyes to make it more pleasant for a drink after dinner.
- Kaur (10/5): Beautiful location - Staff is really good and breakfast was delicious Nothing
- Anthony (4/5): U - Food was ok location is nice! Updated in the sweet old and dated no fudge to store cold drinks or refreshments ! Jacuzzi was broken bits falling off not working properly!
Staff did not know their own menu and was left waiting ages to be served or seen to at the table so not very professional at all
- Luke (9/5): Great stay overall will visit again in future! - Pool area Tv didn’t work but it was down to the weather
- Luis (9/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Sue (8/5): The staff was outstanding. The property is somewhat shabby. - breakfast was excellent
dinners were outstanding. Kudos to the chef.
the pool was lovely. THANK YOU! the showers in the pool need to be replaced. the room was a bit shabby, but clean and adequate.
It was difficult to take our luggage up the narrow stairs--we needed help both up and down. (thankyou, terrific staff!) It was a bit odd to walk through the dining room in my bathing suit and towel...
- Diane (8/5): Lovely area - Breakfast: good, but quite late to be served
- Amrinder (3/5): -
- candis (8/5): Very nice stay. The breakfast was the best - Breakfast was beautiful. The cute pub was cosey and pleasant. Our room was good. The only thing we noticed was we found someone’s ribs takeaway from the people before in the fridge. I know it’s minor but maybe check the fridges next time :)
- Samuel (6/5): - Breakfast was good, location was beautiful, very near Brecon, Pen Y Fan and the four waterfall walk. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Considering how low the price is compared to other spa hotels can't expect much more. Generally the facilities looked like they need some investment, all a bit dated/worn e.g. tiles come off in the jacuzzi and the steam room, lights in the sauna not working and the panels look like they will soon need to be replaced.
- Jonathon (10/5): Highly recommended - Great hotel, great facilities and amazing food both breakfast and dinner
- Gemma (7/5): Happy with stay. - Friendly staff, enjoyed the small onsite bar and use of pool. Bedrooms comfortable and clean. Lovely breakfast included in stay. Great location.
- Joanne (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very much - Excellent location for hiking, enjoyed the spa and gym facilities, very good breakfasts and dinners and friendly staff decor a bit tored
- Bill (9/5): Great location and facilities for our short break, would come back again. - Location and food was excellent. Nothing
- Jill (7/5): - Position A bit tired!
- Quentin (9/5): -
- Morgan (9/5): -
- Terence (8/5): Beautiful setting in Brecon Beacons but close to Merthyr and A470 - Good size pool No shower in room other than bath tap fitting with no screen, curtain or wall mount.
- Jack (10/5): -
- Bobbs (9/5): - The restaurant food was lovely the staff were lovely its a nice place N/a
- James (7/5): -
- Corbett (10/5): Lovely hotel, staff were brilliant, we always come the same time of year in hope of snow. - Breakfast was amazing, staff were really friendly and great with my 3 year old A menu with more choice
- Josh (8/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Overall a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to those visiting the area . - The service and breakfast was excellent . Bar staff very helpful. The pool is a good size There was a hole at the bottom of the pool and the jacuzzi could have been warmer .
- Sasha (1/5): -
- J (8/5): -
- Josh (1/5): Overall, the stay was okay, but I would not return - The breakfast was very basic, but it was okay After I checked in and upon arrival to my bedroom, it smell of cigarettes like somebody had been smoking in the bedroom. The latch that normally stops you from opening the window fully had been broken, indicating someone had been smoking in the bedroom. When I had a shower, the shower rail fell apart and the showerhead was leaking.
The hot tub was freezing cold, the swimming pool was also freezing cold would not recommend.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Beverley (8/5): -
- Dylan (5/5): Spa made up for the noises room - The pool and breakfast Noises cold room (room 3) there was a plant room underneath us that made an awful racket at 06:00 every morning , hot water was dangerously hot, I hope they Cary out temp checks as required it was scolding hot!!!
- Chris (10/5): Definitely recommend 👌👌👌 - Evening meal and breakfast Everything was really nice
- Ligia (8/5): -
- Tom (7/5): - The food and restaurant was lovely, and staff were cheerful and friendly. It feels as if it hasn’t been updated or looked after properly in over 20 years. There was no where to hang coats in the room. The “king size” bed was two very well used mattresses put together. There was urine left in the toilet when we first checked in. The swimming pool had holes in the bottom of it. The jacuzzi had little to no tiling left, and the buttons didn’t work. There is nowhere you can get to by foot, everything is only accessible by car or the rare public transport.
