About the “Chitra” feast your own eyes on the beauty. Bullet points you would need to make a choice (as we needed) are~ • Homely (best) • Affordable (can travel broke too) • Roof top ambience with apt music and air • Hath Roi fort (Pinteresty girls this is your sign) • Try their food , just that they prefer slow (read end of their menu) but trust me worth the wait and meanwhile pick up any board game, 3rd floor is all yours. I booked looking at rating but it's a very bad decision. 1-charges Rs. 550 extra for my 5yr old kid because I missed to add while booking the hotel on that they didn't allow for breakfast I requested them to cancel and refund the money but they denied. I showed them the app, if I book again with adding Kid, it's not changing the price but they ignored and asked me to talk to owner but he was not answering call in multiple try. Rooms are very dirty with no ventilation, floor is sticky with bad smell. Breakfast, they took 20 mins to prepare 4 puris and 1 cury only. I have paid approx 400 for breakfast but the quality and quantity won't be more than 50-100. Not sure, why they don't mention these details which misleading customers The person sitting at Reception is rude to customers. Avoid booking this hotel. It's not even 1 star, there are better options available nearby.

- ronensinghn (10/5): A great stay!! - My family and I had a great stay at Chitra Katha towards the end of 2025. The place offered us the quiet and relaxing stay that we were looking for. The building with its appealing yellow exterior, artistic interiors and located right next to Hathroi Fort sets the right mood for a Rajasthani vacation. The central location with most of the city-based attractions about 15-20 minutes away was a big positive for us. The rooms that were allocated to us were clean and well maintained and equipped with amenities to make our stay comfortable. The terrace is probably the highlight and the most happening place of the hotel. The rooftop restaurant, a mini library, a view of the locality, the occasional bone fire and the host Anshu’s unique story sessions, provide a relaxing environment after a tiring day of legwork exploring the city. The restaurant offered a good variety of options with the Laal Maas dish not to be missed if you are a non-vegetarian. Overall, we spent a highly enjoyable and relaxing few nights at Chitra Katha and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Jaipur and looking for a blend of comfort, warm hospitality, and a peaceful stay within easy reach of the city’s main attractions. A real value for money.

It has a lovely decor and ambience. The food is good, tad expensive though. It is a standalone building, so no kids play area or anything. However, there is a lift so elderly people wouldn't face any issues. There are different categories of rooms, from very small double room to four-bedded and six-bedded ones. Rooms are cosy and comfortable, however, for a place whose walls are adorned with classy Prabudhha Dasgupta photographs, the rooms could have been a little bit classier. Basic things such as electric kettle (the did provide after asking), tea/coffee sachets, face towels can be included in the room tariff. The location is bang opposite Hathroi fort, very imposing. Our four-bedded room had an adjacent terrace , perfect for a group getaway. The staff is helpful and polite. They did fulfil myriad demands of our heterogenous group. An interesting stay, with certain scope of improvement.

Because of iqbal we were able to explore jaipur as a local like kallu chacha the leather shop, rawat the sweet restaurant and the historical places. I would suggest rather than exploring jaipur with your own car try Auto as you don't has to worry about parking and all. I highly recommend iqbal who is working with chitra katha.

The next morning, we met Anshu ji, the owner — a wonderful storyteller whose warmth and vision truly define Chitra Katha. His love for art, literature, and contrasts is reflected everywhere — from the decor to the atmosphere. I still remember spotting a portrait of Charles Bukowski right next to Mahatma Gandhi on the wall. The warm and hospitable staff along with neat, clean and cozy rooms with an artistic vibe and dim yellow lights are a perfect getaway for a recluse artist like me. With a view of the Hathroi Fort and its surrounding greenery, this hotel is quiet place in this growing and busy town of Jaipur. Food is up to the mark as well! Do give it a shot. PS: The collection of some old classics (books) at the rooftop library is a must see for litterateurs.

Amenities are minimal and were not replenished during my stay — no housekeeping was done even on the second day. Do not opt for their breakfast, lunch, or dinner packages — they’re completely useless. The ₹500 cap per room is a joke considering the food is overpriced, poor in quality, and portions are tiny. Breakfast options are alarmingly limited and far from satisfactory. To make matters worse, maintenance work is currently ongoing, causing additional inconvenience. I’d heard from others that Anshu Sharma, who runs Chitra Katha, is not just a hotel owner but also a poet and writer. When you stay here, he always has a story to share. The hotel has a great vibe peaceful, welcoming, and full of character. The food is delicious, and the ambience makes you want to just sit back and soak it all in. Anshu and his team are genuinely kind and make you feel at home. We stayed for three days, and it was such a good experience. If you’re in Jaipur and want peace, good food, and maybe a few stories along the way, Chitra Katha is definitely worth a visit.

The rooms were clean and comfortable with a historical feel too them. Including with hand painted ceilings and a view of the old Hatori (elephant stalls) from our window. The host gave us a quick history lesson and hand drew a complete map of the must visit places around Jaipur. Thanks to this map we were able to see almost every sight worthy thing in Jaipur within 3/4 days, with still time left for extra adventures. During our stay we enjoyed the roof top restaurant and ate most of our meals there. Every diner had a delicious taste and was surprisingly affordable . Overall we found the stay and costs of the hotel to be very good considering the location, facilities and service. And we are very grateful for te nice week we had here.
