• Marites (8/5): - Situated in the medina, very convenient for shopping and dining. The room was clean and the bathroom too but there is this sewer smell which is understandable because it’s an old riad and could have come through the open window from outside. The manager’s hospitality will make up for whatever structural lacking. Nordine welcomed us with mint tea and helped us arrange for our day tours, walked us to tour meeting place. He recommended a very nice place to dine called Chez Hakim where staff are friendly, good eats at good price. Breakfast offering served in the common area was good. He got us this amazing tour guide Ahkmed, who is not only knowledgeable with the area and an intellectual with lots of historical insights and commentaries. Akhmed picked us up from our riad and showed us the medina like we were his students and family, he even accompanied us to the outside medina tour. Very kind, did not treat us like some random tourists of the day. He took us to this great family ran restaurant Zohra, where the food is delicious and the folks are great. In summary, you wanted to be in a place where you are well treated as guests. If you are looking for luxurious stay, go to a resort.
• Nahema (10/5): - À deux pas du souk de la talaa, le riad est bien placé avec aux alentours restaurants et boutiques. Les hôtes sont accueillants. Prix très abordable, Chambre au calme avec sdb, on se sent comme chez soi. Grande Terrasse en partie couverte. Merci pour ce chaleureux séjour.

• Agueda (6/5): Sólo salvo su ubicación - El Riad está muy bien ubicado, en pleno corazón de la Medina, pero la limpieza de la habitación e incluso momentos del trato dejan mucho que desear, el baño tenía un olor insoportable constante y las ventanas no encajaban dejando atravesar el frío, lo mejor sin duda el desayuno.

Solo es optima la ubicación que se encuentra muy cerca de la puerta azul y de multiples restaurantes y comercios. Es un alojamiento que no recomendaria por su falta de limpieza

• Verified traveler (4/5): - El recibimiento bien, la limpieza y mantenimiento no se corresponde con las fotos y Nordine a pesar de que se porto bien no reacciona a los comentarios se limita a decir que la medina es antigua y el precio es barato, el primer día te dan ganas de irte pero al día siguiente limpio un poco mas, el desayuno aceptable pero no sé porque no mejora las instalaciones se ve que está acomodado y no hace por mejorar, el precio es barato pero se saca el sueldo en comisiones con los taxistas de las excursiones y de los traslados, en general no volvería a hospedarme ahí
• acia83 (4/5): Nice structure, well decorated, but lack of cleaning - The property is located in the heart of Medina, which is very convenient to do some tourism and enjoy the food in good restaurants (although, not the best at night). The rooms and common areas are nice, spacious, very well decorated, with a beautiful style. The staff was helpful to arrange excursions airport transfer. Breakfast was tasty and rich of traditional food. The price is very reasonable. The only issue (and a big one) is the lack of cleaning. The bed was full of stains and very hard to sleep on. Dust was everywhere. The bathroom was nice but as toiletry there were small already used soaps. It is true that the price is convenient, but this doesn't mean that cleaning has to be neglected. Regardless the price, it is crucial to have a clean space.

• joaouniverse (4/5): Meh - When we got to the riad we were welcomed by the host and he was really nice, offering us tea and we talked a bit. He tried to convince us into taking the tours but we said we already had plans so he was not too persistent. Although one strange thing happened. We had already paid the room entirely through booking before arrival and the host said they have problems with booking and asked us to pay again at the end of our stay and we find that reaaally strange. We said we had the payment confirmation and ended up paying only the tourist tax The riad is nice, but it's not great, not even close. The rooms don't have light bulbs, we only had a big light that was annoying to keep turned on at all time during night time since it was really hot and was too much light. One bed was rock solid and the other looked like a water mattress lol. Cleaning was good though. They gave us no towels throughout the whole time, the "mini bar" probably doesn't work since 1970 and was all dirty and rusty. The room had no view whatsoever, no a/c, not even a fan. The only good thing was the location and breakfast. For the price, there must be A LOT of better options
• sergio (4/5): good location no more than that - The beds and pillows not good at all. The bathroom and the shower walls and curtains you can tell, days or weeks without cleaning them. My wife had to clean the toilet when we came. No soup...we have to ask for some, and the host kindly gave it to us. The noise was too much for us. Inside the riad and outside. The mornings are quiet on the opposite side...but the noise up until 1 or 2 in the morning...

The bathroom smelled like sewers and had mold, but no toilet paper. The building is quite old and authentic, so you get to see the interesting architecture from inside. The location is great, in the Medina, but close to the Blue Gate, ATM and everything you could need.

• 433anderss (4/5): Not recomended - A horrible sewer smell came from the bathroom, which made it hard to sleep. The bathroom weren't so clean as well. The staff was rather noisy and prevented any relaxing during the day. Since it is cold in Morocco in January, I asked for an extra blanket, to which I got a rather mad no. The wi-fi was good though, and a hot shower was also a plus, for the dorm. Would not recommend this place.

• M. (6/5): Nettes kleines Riad mitten in der Medina von Fes - Wir haben den vom Riad angebotenen Shuttel für 15€ genutzt um entspannt und komplikationslos unseren Kurzurlaub zu beginnen. Der Fahrer wartete bereits mit einem Namensschild am Ausgang des Flughafens, in Fes angekommen wurden wir vom Hotelbesitzer persönlich abgeholt und bis zum Riad geführt. Beim Einchecken bekamen wir direkt einen Tee angeboten. Der Riadbesitzer war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Am ersten Abend zeigte er uns ein Restaurant in der Nähe. Das gebuchte Doppelzimmer war geräumig aber durch die alte Bauweise bedingt recht dunkel und hellhörig. Das Badezimmer hat etwas nach Abfluss gerochen und vor der Toilette war eine Pfütze, aber mit einigen Handtüchern war auch dieses Problem gewissermaßen lösbar. Unsere Reise war im Januar und dementsprechend zu einer kalten Jahreszeit, doch die Klimaanlage des Zimmers diente auch als Heizung und machte des Aufenthalt damit angenehmer. Es gab auch eine Dachterasse, die vorallem im Sommer sicher sehr schön ist. Das Riad selbst war sehr schön in marokkanischem Stil eingerichtet. Zum Frühstück gab es Weißbrot, eine Art Blätterteigpfannkuchen, Honig, Marmelade und Butter, Oliven sowie ein Glas Osaft. Ein typisch marokkanisches Frühstück, wenn auch auf Dauer etwas süß. Wir nutzten auch eine vom Riad angebotene Tagestour nach Chefchouen. Ein persönlicher Fahrer brachte uns mit zwei anderen Gästen in einem komfortablem Auto hin, stoppte bei Bedarf auch auf dem Weg und wartete um uns Abends wieder mit zurück zu nehmen.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Sehr gut versteckt - Ohne einen einheimischen der sich uns sofort aufgedrängt hat würden wir glaub heute noch nach dem Riad suchen. Zu verwinkelt und eng sind die ganzen Gässchen. Angekommen war es doch recht schnuckelig, im Januar ein wenig frisch da keine Heizung vorhanden - aber das lässt sich mit 1-2 decken zusätzlich locker ausgleichen. Schade das es kein warm wasser gab. Zu den eh schon frischen Lufttemperaturen wurde jede Dusche zu einer kältefolter ;) Überlebt hat man trotzdem und im Sommer würde ich das Riad auf jeden Fall wieder buchen.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Find another accommodation - On the plus side: The manager sent an email offering transport and warning about scammers who will try to redirect you. If you are coming by plane, bus, or train, take him up on it. I suspect it is a real challenge to find any riad in the maze that is Fez. If you are driving, park near the Blue Gate for about 5 USD daily and arrange with the manager for someone to come and get you (and make sure you have a way to be certain the agent is really from this Riad). WiFi was good; breakfast was simple but very nice. My room was on an upper floor and the staircase is narrow and dark, with uneven steps- downright dangerous. The room was poorly lit but the bathroom was well lit and there was lots of hot water. The mattress was old, thin, and lumpy, making for a very poor night’s sleep. There was also a bad odor- a combination of dampness, cleaning supplies, and poor plumbing. Had to repeatedly ask for a some supplies. This next comment is not the fault of the Riad but just a general piece of advice. It is in the market area-fun to walk around but extremely easy to get disoriented. I clearly look like a tourist and was constantly approached by people looking to separate me from my money (some of whom became nasty when I didn’t fall for a scam). Know where you are and how to get back to the Riad.
• Ralph (8/5): Tolle Lage und super Frühstück - Tolle Lage in der beeindruckenden Medina von FES und super Frühstück und das zu einem super Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Hervorragendes und freundliches Personal. Alles bestens, wir würden wieder buchen.
• Aloisimhimmel (8/5): Hübsches Riad, tolle Lage und sehr nettem Personal - Diese Unterkunft bietet ein Super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis mit gutem Frühstück. Die Lage ist toll gelegen in der Medina von Fes und ca. 400 Meter vom Bab Boujloud entfernt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und sehr bemüht alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Wir würden wieder buchen.
• David (10/5): Very friendly staff. They went above and beyond - I really bonded with the staff members. I went to dinner with one of them at his recommended restaurant, I went shopping with another (he helped me get non-tourist prices) and one even drove me up to Borj Nord for a beautiful sunset view over the Medina. They were very flexible over breakfast times, which is good if you want a lie in! They had lots of recommendations of places to go in the Medina. My recommendations are the Jnan Sbil gardens (beautiful and peaceful, good place to chill and get some sun) - La Terresa cafe at the Blue Gate for the view. Hotel Cascade's roof terrace. Chez Hakim for food. Or Cafe Clock if you want something more touristy.
• Pozer (4/5): Bad offer - The lobby is ok, but the room was ruined down. Even I had to fight for it, as it was given to another passenger. He wanted to give a 4 bed room, which was even worse then the booked. I do not suggest anybody to use this riad. Next day I moved out.
• claudia (4/5): Pure Enttäuschung - Unser gebuchtes Zimmer war schon vergeben und wir wurden in ein Hostel gebracht. Dort war es extrem unhygienisch und dreckig. Die Toilette war defekt und das Frühstück weder frisch noch lecker. Am zweiten Tag hätten wir in das eigentliche Riad zurück wechseln sollen, aber wir haben uns dann für ein viel schöneres Riad entschieden (Riad Al Amine Fes). Können dieses Riad nicht weiter empfehlen.
• Hubertus (6/5): Soweit ok - Das Hotel war ganz in Ordnung. In der Dusche war etwas Schimmel und der Abzug im Bad hat nicht richtig funktioniert. Die Dachterasse ist jedoch sehr einladend für einen Spieleabend oder einfach zum relaxen nach einem Tag in der Medina. Die Lage des Hotels ist auch perfekt. Man bekommt von dem Trubel in der Stadt nichts mit ist dennoch nach 5 Schritten mitten in der Medina. Das Hotel Team war immer da wenn man sie gebraucht hat. Nach Toilettenpapier und Handtüchern müsste man zwar gesondert fragen aber das sind wohl Luxusgüter da :D eine tägliche Reinigung gab es auch nicht.
• Anja & Rainer (6/5): Hostel im Zentrum der Medina - Vom Riad Dar Al Ouali sind die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt fußläufig zu erreichen. Lage ist ausgezeichnet. Unser Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel mit WC, Dusche und Klima ausgestattet. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig. Besonders freundlich und zuvorkommend ist der Besitzer! Alles in Allem sehr empfehlenswert für einen Kurzurlaub, um den Zauber des Orient zu genießen!

• boudis214 (10/5): Best hostel ;) - Its very clean, calm with a great atmosphere. The place is in the middle of the Medina which is perfect to discover it all. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he showed us restaurants and other stuff we had a great time with him laughed and danced a lot ;) The breakfast is more than enough and very delicious and of course the prices are just great. Will definitely recommend the hostel!
• claudio (2/5): ASSOLUTAMENTE DA EVITARE - Sembrava tutto fuorchè un RIAD, sporco, una tremenda puzza di fogna in tutti i locali, disordine e suppellettili datate e logore. Impossibile dormire in questa struttura da parte di qualsiasi utente medio europeo. A mio avviso dovrebbe essere immediatamente tolto dalla prenotabilità di un sito serio come EXPEDIA. Consiglio ai dirigenti EXPEDIA di mandare un Loro rappresentante a valutare quanto da me dichiarato. Gli basteranno 2 minuti per guardarsi in giro e confermare quanto da me scritto.
• 990gc (2/5): Terrible, horrible, awful! - We were deeply disappointed by the hostel and the staff. The room we stayed in was dark (only one lamp that didn't really help), the bathroom was very dirty and the toilet wasn't fixed, so every time you sat on it you almost fell. We had cold water the first night. Bed for two was anything but a bed, it was like sleeping on concrete floor. Horrible! Warning: Do not take offers from the hotel manager/receptionist! We wanted to stay in Fez only one night and then drive to Merzouga by night bus that would take 10 hours. The manager lied to us saying that if we take the taxi the next day in the morning it will only take us 5 hours and we will see everything that is interesting on the way to Merzouga. In the end it took us 8 hours of driving, we didn't see anything interesting and we had to pay 150€ for the drive (3 times more than if we had taken the bus). To continue, before coming we reserved one room for three and the price was 9€ for three people, including breakfast and tourist tax - when it was time to check out the hotel manager charged us 9€ per person + 2€ of tourist tax! Instead of paying 18€, we paid around 66€ (almost 4 times more!). He didn't give us the receipt and we were only able to pay by cash and he said that Booking made a mistake - of course, that way he could keep the money and now we have no proof of how much we actually paid since it was with cash without receipt. And that is not the end - we paid him 80€, he counted the money (we counted with him as well) and put it in his pocket. After we told him that we want the change back he pretended to be surprised, counted the money again and gave us 10€ back saying he didn't count the money before and didn't realize he hadn't given us the change back. After that we told him he still owed us 4€ that he needed to give us back but he acted as if we had given him only 70€ in the first place and while we weren't looking he hid one bill in his pocket because when he counted again, there was only 60€ in his hands - wow, magic! To top it all off, then he told us we shouldn't be angry and started talking about how happiness comes from heart and not money. Ironic, huh? This was the worst treatment we've ever gotten in any of our trips and our advice is to avoid this hostel at all costs!
• laura-elle-1 (2/5): Horrible hostal - Everything is dirty. The rooms are super expensive for what it is. The terrase is a nightmare. The breakfast is not good and when we see how dirty is the kitchen, better not to eat it. The rooms doesn't feet with the pictures. Not to go.

• Verified traveler (6/5): on en a pour le prix... - vu le prix qu on paie on ne peut pas demander le grand luxe. neanmoins , les prises et interupteurs qui pendent sont dangereux , ainsi qu une lumiere en applique dans la douche! l interieur est sombre , et les escaliers pour les etages TRES abrupte. bien placé , et personnel acceuillant.
• J818VFam (6/5): Perfectly located, needs updating - I booked this riad for myself my toddler and mum. We got a good reception from the owner (a young guy runs it alone) we were shown to our initial room but after climbing the ridiculously high and narrow staircase and noticed too many flaws with the bathroom we changed rooms the next day, owner didn't make a fuss. The riad boasts traditional Moroccan decor but unfortunately needs maintaining by the owner. Things like dim lights, loose bathroom fittings, limescale buildup. The rooms don't have any cupboards/wardrobes but it does have a questionable mini fridge which helps when you have a toddler. The breakfast is the usual Moroccan breakfasts; jams, honey, pastry, yogurt. Having stayed 7 days it gets boring so we bought our own eggs which they kindly scrambled for us along side our breakfast. Location was great in the heart of the market, bab Boujloud literally 5mins walk, all other attractions in walking distance also! This was a big plus for us. I'd recommend this place for couples, backpackers but probably not families especially young children.
• ipohman2003 (6/5): Medina stay in Fez - Riad is well located in the Medina; however, it is managed by one person who could do with some help. Room was satisfactory although a few things required fixing (lights not working, shower outlet, etc) Manager was really helpful although early breakfast (before 9am) is the exception. Lots of stairs to climb to get to room on top floor.
• Janet (4/5): Good price but with good reason. - A budget accommodation. No towels in room and only a little toilet paper. Shower in poor condition. Room not overly clean. Friendly helpful staff.
• rachell307 (6/5): Good host,rooms and reasonable price - I arrived at Fes late. So fortunately the host picked up me near old medina. The host was very kind. Thanks to him, I could buy good argon products. Anyway good accommodation. Also the place is good just 5 min away from blue gate.

And guy from Sahara is very kindly like my season!jajaja..... So you can enjoy for you fist visitor and final visitor like you wan't. Enjoy you're trip and you're life. Hasta siempre.

• spirosk591 (8/5): very honest riad and very helpful and caring staff - Modest room, very cosy everything you needed after a long day getting lost in Fes and the staff was a lifesaver with advices and the do's and dont's in the city. great riad for a budget travller who doesn't want to sacrifice some "lxuries" as a nice hot shower at the and of the day and a nice breakfast in the morning.
• mirkkm (10/5): Chilled atmosphere & cheap prices inside the medina - Really good hostel, chilled atmosphere, located directly in the medina. The prices are really cheap. If you're three people, I'd even recommend you go for a private room instead of a dorm. We paid 200 DH per night for a 3-beds-room, including breakfast and a freaking AIR CONDITIONER in the room. The dorm on the other hand doesn't have AC. Also, the roof terrace is nice with lots of couches and blankets to chill. You can also hang laundry there. The guy running the hostel is a good man too. Like everybody is fes he might offer you some tours to book, but he's really chilled and usually genuinely helpful.
• Lilah14 (6/5): Good value for money - This dar was good value for money and in a great location. It was nice to be in the Medina but down a quiet and safe alley. The host was nice but seemed very disappointed that we already had travel plans (and therefore would not be booking any tours) and was a bit funny about us leaving our luggage after checkout, but otherwise all great. The place is fine, could do with a bit of a spruce up and good clean. Our room was a generous size, had it's own bathroom and a mini fridge, which was very helpful. Bathroom had a bit of a funky smell but othewise fine. Breakfast was the standard bread, jam, yoghurt, olives but always in generous portions and ready whenever we were ready. Overall as backpackers on a budget this place suited us.
• Katrina (6/5): Comfortable and clean - The room was very clean however the bathroom/ensuite should have a door for hygiene purposes also the smell from the drains can be quite ever powering - but this I believe is the case in all hotels. The Manager was very helpful and there was a nice chilled out vibe there which made it comfortable and welcoming. Overall we enjoyed it here and will go back.
