• Maximilian (6/5): - Excellent location, very calm, good value for many but the reception was notooccupied, no dishes although we had a kitchen, the promised luggage storage was not available.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay, in Kyoto, is a bit of a walk from the nearest bus and not close to many train lines, so your stuck taking the overly packed 206 bus. The place was nice, lots of space luggage. Laundry situation was good, however there wasn’t any laundry soap, or hand soap. Dishes could be purchased I believe through the hotel. All in all I’d recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Kyoto.

However, if you are not able to go up the historic steps or have trouble carrying your bag, it may not be an ideal location to stay in. There are no elevator as well. The AC unit also smelled bad in room 2001. Overall, fine stay, cheap price, so you get what you pay for.

But the room and the bathroom were not clean, full of dust. The corridors are also very dirty and do not give a good impression of cleaness. The location of the hotel is okay during the day but at night it is very far from any place open for eating

The next day we saw another couple with the same thing. So signage could be improved. Otherwise it's a great location and quiet night.

• Sarah (10/5): Amazing location...once we found it! - Relatively basic self-contained apartment but had everything we needed, including a small kitchen and washer / dryer. Located perfectly in the old town in Kyoto which was amazing for our stay, and roughly a 30 minute walk to a subway station.

It's in an exceptionally busy part of Kyoto however it's off the main Street and amazes us how quiet it was considering its location. Our mini apartment had a bathroom, kitchen facilities and washer and dryer. It was spacious. It's great it you're looking for something basic to rest in. Friendly staff and easy self check in and out. It's no hassle to find either. Just use Google maps.

No weird smell. - There was a washing machine in the room (no dryer, but you can turn the bathroom into a drying place by turing the heater on), - The guesthouse is in a wonderful place in Kyoto. My family enjoyed our evening walks. - It was surprising quiet during the night. We did not hear the people above or beside us. - You can borrow umbrellas (and bikes I think). - I loved the shampoo there. And the small tv in front of the bathtub. Cons: Nothing. For the price, you can't ask for more. Note that this is not a hotel, so don't expect someone to clean your room.
• Jacob (10/5): May 2018 Stay to Explore Kyoto - My stay at Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Guest House was fantastic. The rooms are exactly as they appeared in the pictures and each room is basically a mini-apartment, with its own range, mini-fridge, microwave, and clothes washing machine. The shower room has a drying function that dries your clothes in no time. The beds were comfy, the A/C worked very well, and the service I received was always very friendly. The check-in and check-out processes were very easy and the front desk even allowed us to check-in an hour early with no additional cost. If your room is not ready, however, they will happily hold your luggage for you in the lobby until check-in time. There are laundry detergents and various other items available for purchase at the front desk at very reasonable prices and a vending machine in front of the building with coffees, sodas, water, and teas. The location is not ideal for traveling around Kyoto or to other cities like Osaka, as the Hotel is up a steep hill and is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus station and a ~15 minute walk to the nearest subway station. That being said, if your focus is on exploring Kyoto, this guest house is located right in the middle of a historic district and its very pleasing to walk out of this hotel each morning and be greeted by throngs of people exploring the beautiful stone streets lined by wooden architecture. Overall, I highly recommend this guest house for long or short-term stays in the Kyoto area.
• Kenneth (8/5): A nice, reasonably priced place...will stay again. - The Inn family owned and located a wonderful 20 minute walk from Kiyomizu Temple. It is Japanese arpartment style, utilitarian and spare. I rented the dbl plus to twin bed unit - spacious for sleeping but just a couple of chairs at a small table (you won’t eat in the room in Japan). Please note to have the phone number and address handy for your taxi driver...this place is located in a very dense area and up a hill. Be ready to walk!!! Recommended!

• Donald (8/5): Great locatiion, village setting - Great location that accommodated late checkin. Modern amenties. Comfortable, quiet, walkable to village and many area shrines. Helpful staff. One problem: utensils/dishes were only available for renting during the very restricted office hours and therefore not available when needed on the top evening of and following morning of our arrival. No English tv. Wi-fi good for email and also for internet searches.
• MJ (6/5): Good enough - When we booked this place we knew that this would be the smallest place we would be staying at during the entirety of our trip. It’s a small three story guesthouse with apartments really close to the Kiyomizu Dera temple. When I say really close, I mean a five minute walk. Really really close. On the other side it was also only a 15 minute walk to the heart of Kyoto’s geisha district; Gion. In our case we didn’t so much care about amenities as much as we did location so it worked out perfectly for us. The room was small, yes. But there was plenty of storage space with a closet, an extra hanging rack and because of the twin sized bed also just enough room for both of our suitcases. The room was apartment style, which means there’s a small kitchenette. I will say though, that the bathroom was a little too small. The shower was good enough, but the actual WC (toilet) was so close to the door that our knees would touch the door when sitting down. Now in all fairness my husband and myself both measure over 5.8, but this is something to keep in mind when looking at this place. Kyoto is pretty expensive and in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at in Tokyo and Matsuyama this was way more expensive and nowhere near the high quality standards we are normally used to... But that being said, the location truly is amazing and very convenient and it is after all just a place to lay your head down after a nice long day of sightseeing in an amazing city.
• Verified traveler (10/5): A great little place - We stayed three nights. Everything was terrific, however, on the down side, the beds were saggy and the pillows too high for us. That was the only complaint as the room and it’s facilities were otherwise very good. Cutlery and cooking utensils can be hired, and there was a washing machine. A drying system for wet clothes was in the bathroom and it worked well. 6 speed bikes were available for hire as well. A great little place
• I-HUI (4/5): 糟糕的入住經驗 - 位置在清水寺旁邊，所以拖著行李不太方便。房間在三樓，沒有電梯，不方便。 因爲下午5點之後就沒有服務人員，住宿前沒接到入住通知(通知放鑰匙保險櫃密碼)，電話不好打通，也沒有其他聯絡方式，最後雖然入住，但是整體入住感覺非常不好。下次除非沒地方住，否則不會選擇這裡。

• Mary (10/5): Great spot - The guest house was perfect for us. the self-check in was very easy. We loved that the hotel had a luggage service that transfer your luggage to an office in front of the Kyoto station. Very convenient and cheap service.
• Sini (10/5): Upea hotelli kuumilla lähteillä! - Yövyttiin yksi yö tässä upeassa hotellissa, joka valikoitui sen punaisen sillan vuoksi (toiminut esikuvana Henkien kätkemä -elokuvan kylpylän sillalle!). Huoneemme oli perinteinen japanilainen huone, johon työntekijät kävivät petaamassa futonit ollessamme illallisella. Huoneen hintaan kuului illallinen ja aamiainen (ei herkkävatsaisille!), jotka kuuluivat osastoon fine dining. Saimme myös käyttää erilaisia kuumavesikylpyjä (olleet käytössä 300 vuotta, mikä tekee kylpylästä myös yhden Japanin vanhimmista). Ostimme lisäksi erikseen mahdollisuuden käyttää yksityistä kylpyhuonetta kuumavesialtaallaan, mikä oli ihana kokemus!

In Kyoto ist jeder Tempel mühelos zu Fuß oder mit dem Bus erreichbar. Wir waren in der 1. Januarhälfte hier, hatten meist Sonnenschein um 0 Grad aber oft eisig und es gab nie Schlangen vor den Tempeln. Super Reisezeit.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Efficient self service guesthouse - It was difficult to find by the taxi. Once you know the location, it is easy to navigate. Very convenient bus route. However, there are not many breakfast places in the neighborhood or any convenient stores. Dinner in the neighborhood stops around 8pm.

The hotel is at the center of a lot of tourist sites. It was so nice to just walk around and see the neighborhood. Room was very comfortable and having a washing machine in the room was such a bonus. Would definitely stay here again!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable, wonderful value - I loved this guesthouse;. It was more of an apartment than a hotel room, It had a kitchen with cooktop, refrigerator, sink, clothes washer, cabinets and adequate pans and utensils to prepare a meal. The beds were comfortable, soft and cozy. The best part was the bathroom. The separate toilet room featured the typical wonderful Toto washlet toilet with a hand-washing basin at the top. The bathroom proper had a nice shower, plenty of soap, shampoo and conditioner, and a lovely soaking tub with a built-in TV. Frankly, while soaking after a long day of hiking is nice, I get a little bored just lounging in a tub full of water, so the TV made it for me. The location was very nice and convenient for us to get the bus to the Rohm theater, which was our primary destination in Kyoto. It's a little far from downtown, but the area around the temple is fascinating and lovely. The only negative was that we had a lot of trouble getting the desk-top TV to work (the one in the bathroom worked well). It doubles as a computer monitor and getting the settings right was really difficult for us. But we didn't really come to Kyoto to watch TV, so there you go!

• Yeon Kyung (8/5): 청수사근처편한한 숙소 - 버스정류장에서 10분 정도 걸어 올라가야하는 위치지만 공기좋은 자연속 청수사 근처에 위치! 산넨자카 바로아래골목! 직원은 영어나 한국어가 가능하진 않았지만 일본 숙소 치고는 넓은 방과 폭신한 침대매트리스가 너무 맘에듦! 방에 세탁기와 간이 주방이 있엇음 !
• B (8/5): Convenient apartments near Kiyomizu Temple - The apartments are situated in a quiet tourist area just near Kiyomizu Temple. I was surprised at how well equipped the apartments are, and would have no problems staying there over a long period of time. Very good cost performance!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Great location. - Stayed for three nights in the winter. It was a great location. Just around the corner from a couple of the most famous spots in Kyoto. Perfect for seeing what life is like after the tourists have gone to bed. Room is mini apartment studio. Busses , taxis easily accessible. But feet are the best way to feel the city.
