Guest Reviews
- Rona Liza (2/5): - NEVER again.
- Tejinder Paul (4/5): - Very convenient location, You get what you paid for. Rooms can use renovations.
- Etienne (4/5): - Hotel location directions confusing.
We're tiny room.Toilet and shower space inadequate.
- Verified traveler (2/5): What a dump - The place is a dump. They post signs that they accept credit cards but don’t. The manager had no idea I had a reservation. The room was moldy. It was buried deep in a building, and getting to it was like walking through a third world neighborhood. After 2 nights we relocated to a much better place for the same money. I want a refund for the 5 nights I paid for but did not stay. There was a dead rat by the elevator.
- Yan (2/5): - Staff not good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 洗手間較骯髒
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was not nice to stay. Many of the rooms were worn out and upgrade very expensive
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Apart from the size of the room and the lack of channels on the tv for the price i couldnt really complain.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Everest guest house is unfit for family - This is the horrible place ever I have stayed in my history. Very tiny room and bathroom which is unfit for family stay. Long queue is always waiting for lift. The building is not hygienic and maintenance was ugly. Health will be badly affected. Only advantage is the location and centre of kowloon. Easily accessible from airport and all other places.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible . No room service . No hot water . Smelt of smoker .
- Verified traveler (4/5): Maybe consider other options before this hostel - I’ve stayed in some run down places to avoid paying the high bill. And out of all the hostels at Chunking Mansion, this had the best reviews. However, I’d look into the other hostels. The first night they were overbooked and so we were given a room with some bugs and a cold shower. The second night was back in the main hostel and we had hot water (thankfully) but still a bit of an issue with bugs (not bad, just here and there) and stained bedding that at least seemed to be clean. You can hear everything. So, people are coming in at all hours and you can’t really sleep. However, Hong Kong is great about its public health regulations so it wasn’t too bad considering the area and price. I’ve stayed in hostels that have cost significantly less and been better. So, from someone who isn’t a picky traveler...I’d still recommend that you consider other options first. If you do decide on this hostel, it could be worse...no bed bugs, no cockroaches so there’s that.
- LEUNG (8/5): - cheap price, tidy room, good location
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wouldn't stay again - We arrived at the Everest guest house and were told there were no rooms and we had to go to the Everest hostel which we had seen online was cheaper and rated worst than Everest guest house so we refused. We could see there was an empty room but the manager refused to give it to us because it was a triple and we'd paid for a double. He didn't seem to understand that was their fault - if they didn't have rooms, we shouldn't have been able to book. Eventually, he said we could have a double room but we couldn't check in until 6pm. We've stayed in a few guest houses in Hong Kong and this one felt unclean - particularly the bathroom and the staff were the most unfriendly. The only good thing about it is the location and that it's on the third floor so you can use the stairs. But if you're moved to the hostel, you'll have to get the lift to the 16th floor which takes forever.
- Curtis (10/5): Stay here for sure - Outstanding place to stay. Staff attentive room clean.
- Imelda (6/5): Good location - This hotel situated in a very good location, nearby to shopping mall, MTR & bus stop to airport.
Recommended for those with tight budget on hotel, otherwise can stay at other place which have bigger room & better environment. Our room : hot shower, hair dryer, water & air-cond ( all GOOD except the room space very2 small).
- Audrey (6/5): Single room hostel in Kowloon - Hostel 1 single bedroom on Nathan Road, great location, the building is full of cheap hostels, it took me at least 15 minutes to get into the lift each time, as there is a big queue to get in the lift.
The room was tiny, more like a box, single bed was fine, but measuring 160m my feet were almost coming out of the bed, so wouldn’t recommend for tall people.
As for the shower/toilets, that was a first, you take a shower on top of the toilets! With cold water as well... I is overpriced for that kind of room but HK is so expensive, cant really complain...
- Verified traveler (6/5): guesthouse in the heart of TST - very, small room--as expected in HK. You get what you pay for. Expect to wait a while for the elevator as many guesthouses are in the building and many people use one elevator (one for even number floors and one for odd number floors. It may be very hard to get down to ground floor if you live on a lower floor (elevator fills up easily). The ground level is actually the Chungking Mansions, an international marketplace. It may take a while to find block D if you enter from the big Chungking Mansions entrance. You could find a closer entrance to the right, according to the google maps directions on the site. Very nice people, very accomodating.
- william/Katrina (2/5): Worst hotel in Chungking Mansion - Everest hostel is the worst place you can stay at. Their description of there hotel in Expedia is totally false. There 3.7 out of 5 is impossible. Granted the rooms are small but Everest rooms are below average with Hong Kong standards. My wife and I booked there because of there ad in Expedia. They said premium bedding. There idea of that is a 3" thick mattress on a platform is premium. Also they said there rooms have city views, if you call looking out your window down an alley then I guess it's a city view. We were there 4 days until we had to ask when are they going to clean our room? They won't clean or change the bedding unless you ask them. And the whole 14 days we were there, they never cleaned the shower or filled up the shampoo or hand soap containers. There is black mold in the corners of the shower walls. I have pictures to prove it. I called Expedia and complained about room conditions and I was given a $100.00 coupon for our next trip. They also said they have cable t.v. there. In the morning there was English for 2 programs and then again late at night shows. No cable channels. If you like those kind of conditions, then by all means this place is for you, but for everyone else avoid this place. The 2 best places in the Chungking manor are. Hotel sky city and Australian hostel.
- J.W. (10/5): - For a good price you get a clean room with bed, shower and toilet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice mini hotel - The hotel is located in the heart of Hong Kong and is designed for people who don't have a lot of money to spend and don't need a lot of wasted space. Every thing you can possibly need is less than ten minutes away.
- Chetri Wilson (10/5): Perfect Location - wow really i was shocked once enter the building, it was a nice experience for me to have stay like this multi language and multi country people. Indians mostly are very friendly. After i reach the property it was so good new decors and nice looking bed sheets, towels are very clean.
