- matt (8/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Excellent - Everthing was excellent, so much so we have booked for next year Nothinh
- Sharon (6/5): - Friendly staff, lovely food, good beer, great atmosphere. Rooms very clean but are tired now particularly the bathrooms.
- David (9/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): Excellent! We will definitely return again. ☺️ - We loved the accommodation, and all the staff were extremely helpful and lovely! ☺️ As a wheelchair user, the car park was very difficult to push on due to the stones. Unfortunately there isn’t an accessible parking space.
- Jill (10/5): Excellent stay. - Fresh milk and cake in the fridge in our room. Warm room. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Nothing.
- Helen (10/5): Perfect . Food in restaurant was lovely and very good value. All in all a great stay - Lovely converted barn in annexe garden area Nothing
- heather (8/5): Lovely place to stay, nice pub food and a good breakfast. - Lovely quiet room just away from the main room, nice comfy bed. Excellent pie on pie night and breakfast was lovely. Friendly staff and very dog friendly The bathroom floor was a bit grubby in places and the grouting needs a bit of attention.
- Richard (9/5): This was our second visit and it was just as good as our first. - The staff were exceptional, the room very comfortable and tea, coffee and fresh milk and bottled water were provided in the room. The breakfast was superb with everything you could possibly want from fresh fruit and yoghurt to a full-blown cooked breakfast served by the charming son. The bar, dining area, bedroom and bathroom were impeccably clean. We were very impressed. The only thing wrong was the poor lighting from the back of the property to our room.
- Young (9/5): -
- Ruth (8/5): -
- Mike (10/5): - The breakfasts were excelent the room comfortable and the dinner was also excelent
- Guest (10/5): -
- Mendes (10/5): Just great! - The food here is fantastic and everyone was super kind and helpful. The bedroom was just lovely too! Comfortable, with a selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate, milk and cake! Just fabulous! TV worked fine and overall we were very pleased! If I had to say something I'd say the door sometimes rattled a bit with the wind, it didn't bother us at all though! I'd say it's probably an easy fix too
- Bennett (9/5): Great cosy country pub - Nice country pub, cosy room, great food, friendly staff. The room was cosy. The only fault we had was the bathroom wet room. The room seemed too small to be a wet room. Once the shower was on, everything got soaked. The toilet, toilet paper the whole floor.
So the rest of the visit had a cold, wet bathroom floor. That's all.
- Brenda (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Staff and pub food excellent. Large room and warm.
- Malcolm (10/5): Gorgeous food and would definitely recommend - Brilliant Wasn’t there long enough
- Steven (9/5): Stamford mini break - Comfortable surroundings, very good food, bar prices & the bedrooms. Fan in bathroom not really up to the job
- Christine (9/5): Good location for us, with parking. Excellent breakfast. Room quiet and located on ground floor. - Breakfast was faultless. Excellent service and food quality & presentation. Room lovely and warm. Only negative was that the mattress was very hard. Not good for older folk with arthritis, aches and pains!
- Guest (6/5): We stayed to celebrate our 53rd anniversary and to visit Stanford. - Room was clean and comfortable everything we needed was there lovely clean bedding and towels. We thought that evening meals were going to be available but were not which was very inconvenient as we had to travel to find places to eat. The breakfast was excellent. No evening meals available this was not on the website when we booked everything else was good
- michael (9/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Friendly welcome on arrival, lovely room with character. Evening meal was excellent, as was breakfast the next day. Our second visit and will definitely return again. Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Great staff, great food, perfect location and always made to feel extremely welcome. Brilliant. - Breakfast - I came down a little late, 10 minutes after the breakfast sitting was supposed to be over. The chef could not have been kinder - and said no problem. Then proceeded to cook a wonderful breakfast. 10/10!
- Jonathan (8/5): Warm comfortable stay in an attractive and interesting family run village pub. - Beautiful clean bar, dining areas and bedroom with a high standard of decoration. Hard pressed but very friendly and professional member of the family team on duty. It was disappointing that we could not have our usual morning cup of tea because the milk in the fridge had gone off but a full apology and excellent breakfast made up for this.
The booking.com website makes no reference to the lack of evening meal provision on a Monday and Tuesday nights and we think this should be made clear before any booking is made.
- Chris C (9/5): Really, really pleasant experience in a beautiful country village. - Room was unexpectedly comfortable as was the bed. All mod cons including a refrigerator, TV, fresh milk and snacks. Floor of walk in shower a little uneven and shabby. Rest of bathroom spotless and well appointed.
Skylight which opened but no outer wall window.
- Philippe (10/5): Very nice place with excellent food served by very friendly people. - Everything Nothing
- James (9/5): -
- Sandra (9/5): - Lovely individual room. Friendly staff and generous breakfast.
- Kershaw (10/5): - Plentiful friendly staff.
Comfortable, clean, room with nice touches such as books, magazines, fresh milk, even a slice of cake.
Evening meal and breakfast were great - thanks Andy.
Would stay here again without hesitation.
- powell (10/5): Thank you a little gem - The Bluebell was definitely a great place to stay room was clean having a small fridge was an excellent addition.Everyone was so friendly and helpful especially as we had a car problem nothing was too much trouble thank you .Breakfast was excellent best full English for a long time. Nothing a great find
- Robert (8/5): Very enjoyable, we have stayed before and we will stay again - Good Food, rooms basic but comfortable and dog friendly No hot water on one day
- Elizabeth (10/5): A great stay - Comfortable, dog friendly, assessable en-suite room. Delicious breakfast . Ate one evening on Pie night. Members of family who lived in area joined us. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. In a quiet area . Would definitely stay here again. It was very pleasant. Met our needs for a short stay.
- john (7/5): Nice people and a comfortable stay - Although the service is a little hectic at times the quality of the food is fantastic Nothing
- Peter (10/5): The stay was excellent, very helpful staff, a good room and excellent food - The Food was excellent, The Room was a good size. Bathroom was excellent, facillities in the room was extensive Wifi could have been better it worked outside but not in the room
- Steve (8/5): - The food was excellent, although we had a long wait for our breakfast
- Edwin (10/5): Geweldige locatie voor overnachting - Alles. Lieve gastvrouw. Gezellige sfeer. Eten en ontbijt super Niks
- andrea (6/5): The room and facilities sadly didn’t live up to what I was expecting and I felt it was expensive for what was provided. - Free parking. Friendly check in. Comfortable bed and duvet. Nice touches in room like cafetière coffee and cake. Lots of cobwebs, dust, and spiders in the bathroom and around lights and beams in bedroom. Cracks in the bathroom floor and dripping shower. Bathroom was small with no natural light. The main door to the room was drafty as is was directly connected to the car park, so it was hard to control the bedroom temperature. Very little natural light in room and none in bathroom.
Kitchen closed during the length of my visit which I wasn’t aware of, which meant there was nowhere to get dinner and nothing else in walking distance.
- Susan (8/5): Good food, good pub, good sleep. - Good value for money with excellent food both for the evening meal and for the freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly staff worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. Parking on site. Bed was comfortable and drinks provided included rare hot chocolate sachets. Also gave us cake in the fridge in the room. The pub was popular and had a great atmosphere on the Friday night we stayed. The bathroom was tired and had many cracked tiles and the spotlights needed a good dust in the bedroom, but we could overlook that for the price and the good quality food.
- Gill (9/5): - Friendly, comfortable, great food and good value for money.
- Dawn (8/5): Lovely welcome, friendly team and great food - Lovely welcome from the pub team, arrived around 2pm and were checked in to room 3 ‘Carpenters’ (note: pub closes in the afternoon so if not early enough, check in is after 5pm). Our room was across the courtyard outside. Lovely little touches of fresh cake, fresh milk in a mini fridge, tea, coffee & hot chocolate. Bathroom was a wet room style. Wifi worked great. Lovely food in the pub with great service. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning, with cereal and yoghurt choices. Local area is nice. We walked to a nearby pub (1.5 miles The Golden Pheasant) as the Bluebell was closed in the afternoon I had a very poor sleep, I found the mattress too firm, and the pillows too flat. My husband found is ok, although agreed the bed was very firm
- Madeleine (8/5): A warm welcome and delicious food at this pub - We received absolutely lovely hospitality from everyone. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived early but were welcomed and let in our room. The evening meal and the breakfast were both delicious. A bit more hanging space in the room would be nice.
- Guest (9/5): we would recommend a stay at the Blue Bell - Service was excellent very friendly staff
- David (9/5): A real pub. - Kenny cooked us superb breakfasts . Our single beds were not the best.
- pinebreeze (9/5): -
- Joanne (4/5): Nice room but the lack of hot water wasn’t good - No hot water the whole weekend No hot water
- Marie (9/5): A comfortable overnight stay,in a quiet, country location. - Although we arrived on a Sunday afternoon when food finish at 4 pm,the chef prepared the nut Sunday roast for me at 7pm ,which was very hospitable of him. The young lady who I saw when booking in left us to find someone to help but never came back.
- Dawn (9/5): - The Bluebell is a lovely place. We were there to visit the John Clare museum and this was next door ,which was ideal. Nothing.
- chris (3/5): Below par service - Location I would have given this a much higher score but breakfast took over half an hour at which point I had to leave for work.
Second, no food was served in evening
Third the owner watched as I stood at bar waiting a long time. Finally I have requested a VAT invoice 3 times without a response
- Pauline (7/5): Friendly, clean, would stay again - Good parking, rooms clean, well presented, everything we needed Breakfast on one day was very slow, waited over an hour for hot breakfast, only one person serving and cooking so orange juice not topped up and long wait for food including a slice of toast
- Zoe (10/5): We’ll be back. - We stayed in the Carpenter’s cottage. It is small but gorgeous. Staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome.
Breakfast was delicious.
Thank you Team Bluebell.
- Judith (10/5): Great location, perfect pub with rooms with a Team who have guests at the heart of what they do. - The team at the Bluebell were so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were both fabulous, can’t wait to return. Room was very warm but there was a fan. Bar/restaurant closes early on a Sunday.
- Sue (8/5): - Quiet and clean, great shower.
- Jane (9/5): Perfect country pub stay - As always fantastic staff staff so friendly & helpful
Room comfortable & love the mini-fridge
Great food (big portions)
Perfect for our annual girl's weekend Wandering showerhead 😆
Spiders🕷
- tony (7/5): Would stay there again if all meals were on - pub was good but they didn't do evening meals on the days we were there so had to go out good car journey away No hot water in the sink but the shower was good. Something went wrong in the kitchen for breakfast as the could only do eggs on toast but plenty of coffee and more toast it was ok
- Peter (8/5): Pleasant stay in Helpston - Breakfast was very good
Location was in a charming area, close to Stamford and Peterborough
- jason (8/5): -
- StuartS4830 (9/5): Comfortable room, good food and ale. - Breakfast chef was outstanding, very helpful to some other guests who had not been told of breakfast times. Some communication issues between staff and other guests. We had no problems though.
- Huibert (7/5): - Lovely friendly staff and cosy atmosphere in pub. Nice touch to find some brownies and water in fridge in room on arrival. We were there on Pie Night, a yummy treat! Bed extremely uncomfortable! Really needs a new mattress or perhaps a topper on it. (Room 4) Cobwebs literally hanging from the rafters above bed and hanging off the wall in bathroom. Requires a spring clean.
- Ruth (7/5): Lovely but a surprise party - Always friendly and dog friendly too.
Really clean and comfortable. No advance warning of the 60th birthday party on Saturday night. We weren't bothered by the music, but would have appreciated a warning. It did mean no restaurant that evening and we couldn't get back into the car park after going out for a meal.
No fresh fruit at breakfast.
- Jones (8/5): Very pleasant. - Very nice place to stay. Pleasant staff and friendly welcome The shower head kept lowering during the shower.
- Jane (8/5): Great value for money and lovely welcome for us and our dog. - Lovely rooms. Great welcome. Food service was quite slow
- DavidKnightOz (10/5): A genuinely good find. - The room was wonderful, and far better than we expected.
Set inside old stone buildings; the room was full of charm.
The staff were outstanding and friendly, we felt more like we were staying with friends than a hotel. It's not a criticism, as there is nothing that can be done about it; but the property is remote. But that is also part of it's charm!
- Dennis (2/5): Would not recommend! What has happened?? - It is in a lovely location. Lovely village. Friendly locals Totally dis organised
Arrived 4.50pm. Shown to room
Informed 'its pie night' did we know? No
I asked any other menu? Yes limited. OK. Only to be told when we went into bar, No only pies!! Bar staff checked, confirmed, only pies!!??
Shower in room, rubbish. Housekeeping say they have given up asking !! This place is going down hill fast!
Went to breakfast first morning at 9am. Doir was locked ,chef came out, breakfast is 7.30 to 8.30??? Didn't we know? No!! He cooked saus sandwich.
Second day, went in 8am. Only saus, bacon, egg tomatoes on menu??
We paid extra for breakfast, no offer of refund!!
Dinner on Thursday night, 5 of us. Waited over hour to be served. Pies burnt, wifes beef n rice burnt. No mixed grill ,sold out??.7.30pm
Son had gam n eggs , plastic supermarket ham.
Awful
Never again. Manageress drove off As bar opened?? Never see her?? David, owner, never see him. Lost interest clearly
- Jayne (10/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): - Dinner was very good.
- Vine (8/5): - Lovely rooms. Friendly staff. Great breakfast but only a 1 hr window
- Selby (9/5): - Staff went out of their way to help, room was excellent. Couldn't have done more
- Paul (2/5): Not coming back - Breakfast was full and tasty The service from the daughter of the owners was insolent, arrogant, inconsiderate and rude!
- David (9/5): - From the start the feeling was good. We were early arriving but got our room immediately so we could prepare for a wedding. The room wasn't big but was very clean and the bed comfortable which is all you need really. Value for money it was great especially once you stuff yourself with the breakfast in the morning! Carry on!! Nothing we saw
- Guest (8/5): Ideal overnight stay to break up a long journey! - Lovely quiet location. Really friendly staff. Good breakfast. Room very hot (difficult to secure the windows half open). Bathroom could have been cleaner. Other than that room fine and would stay again.
- Margaret (7/5): - Lovely, quaint village. Cosy and rustic accommodation. Really good breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful but service is really slow..Maybe short staffed but if that improved it would be great.
- karen (10/5): Fabulous! - Comfortable, clean and super friendly staff. Dinner in the pub highly recommended! Nothing!
- Lisa (4/5): Disappointed - Lovely breakfast Restaurant was closed - nobody told us until we turned up for dinner!
We had a room with no air conditioning or a window so couldn’t sleep because it was so hot - We couldn’t even leave the door open because the bed is straight in front of it.
Will not be returning.
- Michael (9/5): A lovely place in a nice location -
- Guest (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Nice people, great room in pub courtyard. -
- Susan (8/5): - Location was good
- Lisa (5/5): Not impressed! - The breakfast was good! The family that run the pub are really nice! We paid for a deluxe room but it definitely wasn't! The bathroom was particularly poor! It It was supposed to be a wet room but it was just a shower without a shower cubicle! Not a proper wet room! The floor and toilet got soaked and was really dangerous! I wanted to complain but it's virtually impossible to get hold of Booking com!!! Not impressed!
- Gillian (5/5): Still waiting to hear about compensation - The property was fine just no water so we could not shower only cold running tap No hot water
- Joyce (9/5): Fabulous the owners are amazing I can’t wait to go back and very close to Burghley House - There was everything you could wish for and a fabulous pot of fresh coffee ☕️ cooked a great breakfast under very difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, for the owners they had problems with the hot water so we were unable to book an evening meal. I can’t wait to go back and maybe have an evening meal next time.
Nothing was to much trouble for the owners I loved it We had water just unfortunately not hot water, but the weather was amazing a cold shower was very invigorating.
- Yuri Eleonora (10/5): -
- Thalia (10/5): - Lovely staff...very homely... Nichts
- Julie (8/5): Overall, a very pleasant stay at the Bluebell. - Facilities in the room were really good, with mini fridge; real milk and bottled water topped up daily. Both breakfast and evening were great. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were not able to contact property directly to inform them that due to several bad traffic delays we would be arriving much later than planned. Only got answerphone or had to leave a text message. A text reply would have been reassuring that message was received.
- Elaine (10/5): Beautiful place, had a lovely stay. - Attention to detail in the room, excellent breakfast for vegetarian and meat, friendly staff, beautiful character property. Nothing
- John (10/5): Staff extremely friendly. Great for one night stopover - Lovely old English pub Nothing
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (5/5): - Clean room with all amenities that we needed. The check in process. You can’t check in until 5pm, however if you arrive on a Sunday as we did you are unable to have an evening meal as they shut kitchen at 4pm. We were staying on the Monday evening also but there is no food available at all that day which we probably should have checked given we didn’t eat the evening prior. I booked the hotel on the reviews about the food but only sampled the breakfast which was good.
When we did check in the woman behind the bar was not very welcoming, merely asking name and saying we owed money. However, the 2 staff doing breakfasts were very friendly, helpful and professional.
- Els1973 (7/5): Cosy nice hotel - What a nice hotel in a beautiful setting. Very friendly owner...ideal little hotel for spending a night during our trip. Breakfast was perfect! Although the room was very nice, it was very warm at night. Bedroom was very little.
- Derek (8/5): -
- Lizzie (10/5): Very comfortable stay in a traditional pub. Excellent service and delicious food. - Lovely traditional village pub with rooms in the out-buildings. We had an evening meal on ‘pie night’ and it was delicious. The room was very comfortable and decorated nicely. Breakfast was just perfect with a very lovely host. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.
- Douglas (8/5): -
- Jenny (9/5): - Lovely room opening onto a small courtyard and carpack. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and all staff
I met were friendly and helpful
- Karen (10/5): Warm friendly greeting and value for money. - Friendly staff
Accommodation was clean and had all the amenities that you would need.
The breakfast was lovely
The stay was definitely value for money. Nothing
- Clare (10/5): Spot on in every way!!! - This wonderful place knows exactly how to run a fabulous pub/b&b. What a find! From the fabulous music on the patio, the delicious bbq food to the warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Staff were genuinely lovely. Room was gorgeous with fridge containing milk, water and the most beautiful slices of lemon cake. Breakfast was delicious and good quality. I can find no fault whatsoever with this place, so pleased that we found it and will 100% be coming back and bringing friends! Well done The Bluebell, spot on in every way Nothing!!!
