Guest Reviews
- Tracey (10/5): - Very quiet, clean, and peaceful
- Terrious (10/5): - Great
- Terrious (10/5): - Peaceful stay !
- Dawn (2/5): Wouldn't let my dog sleep here - I can't stay in this filthy, roach infested place. It's now 3am and I have to go find another room some place else.
- Deronda (2/5): - If I could give 0 stars I would! This place is absolutely DISGUSTING & should not be in operation!! There were holes in the wall, stains on the bedding, floors, EVERYWHERE!! Exposed lighting in the ceiling (no light fixture). The lightning in the back parking area was dim, w/trash & other large items discarded. There were also several sketchy looking individuals hanging around. You'd do better off sleeping in your car! I didn't feel comfortable & ended up leaving.
- Mary (10/5): - Sam & Sushma are well mannered people. We are all the People of the United States of America. Royalty loyalty Self awareness and kind words of gratitude 🙏❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ and a lot better now I replenish back to my Self Antonio & Mary .. #BigLuLuTony
- Mary (2/5): - Ghetto
- Lynette (2/5): Worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in - Towels were old, threadbare and stained. Bathmat had big black stains on it. Only one trash can by the door, not by the bathroom. Toilet paper holders had no cylinder thing in them on which you put the roll. There were 2 half used rolls of toilet paper on the toilet tank. Furniture was old and rickety. Toilet backed up after the first flush. When I checked in it took a long time because the clerk didn’t know how to use the computer system. They charged $3.75 if you used a credit card! Everyone uses credit cards now! Who pays in cash anymore?? They wouldn’t give me a receipt until I checked out the next day. When I went to check out, nobody was there. I had to use their call button to get someone to the front desk. I asked for my receipt and the clerk told me that I wouldn’t get a receipt because I paid online. I had to tell her that I paid in person last night with my credit card. She then looked it up in the system and then finally gave me a receipt. There was no channel guide on the remote or any printout with the channels on the TV. I would NEVER go there again and WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone else!
- Mary (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Melinda (2/5): - The safety lock on the door was broken off, like the door had been kicked in. They said their credit card machine was broken so you could use the convient ATM in the lobby to get cash. And on the secomd floor above us the family had a violent fight with children screaming in terror and someone saying 'they would take care of things" at 2 am in the morning.
- Jameson (2/5): - Room smelled like mildew and smoke, in a “nonsmoking room” as soon as I walked in and my clothes still smell like the room. After turning the AC down from 80 to 65 the mildew feel went away but the smoke smell remained. The sheets had weird stains possibly skid marks and Im pretty sure there was mold on the pillow cases.
Besides all the trim and paint coming off the walls the mattresses was comfortable and the AC did work at least. If you don't mind the smell of smoke in your nonsmoking room this is the place for you.
- Zlonda (10/5): - It was nice
- Michael (2/5): 6.4? NOT!! - Clerks were friendly enough. We arrived just after 11 pm. I forgot to ask for a ground floor room. We parked just below our 2nd floor room. Noticed there WAS parking available there. Returned to the check-in, asked if we could have a ground floor room. (My wife has issues with stairs since surgery to remove a kidney - currently cancer free 🙏)
Discovered tiny flies around the hand sink and a spider in the tub.
Back to the office. Manager gets a can of bug spray and some Fabreeze. Not a great way to start.
Only 1 trash can. Only 1 Facial tissue in the box. TP "loose" - no holder.
Room was dirty. Towels & linens didn't look clean.
Freezer had a 1/2" 'plate' of ice. I left it turned off and open with a towel to collect what thaws.
In the morning noticed a good amount of light around the door. (Not sealed well) The top door lock was not a matched set and - therefore - non-functional.
Slight smell of lingering smoke (in a non-smoking room) The manager was willing to let us keep the Fabreeze until morning - as long as we returned it!
Rm #105
Sunset Inn going on our "Never return here" list
BUT - we are heading to see our new grandson and our kids!
- Tommy (2/5): Wouldn't stay again - This was Incredible terrible for cleanliness
- stephanie (2/5): - There were bugs crawling in the bed.
- Shania (10/5): - Nice quick and convenient
- Cuwanda (6/5): - It was ok
- Christian (4/5): - Floor was soaking wet with fabuloso could barely sleep with our nostrils burning.
- Stefanie (6/5): - The staff was excellent, I will say they could use a little updating on linens, but it was clean and cheap. The beds were comfortable, a/c is cold, and the showers hot. Definitely recommend for a 2-star place, you get more than more expensive options in the area.
- Trindell (10/5): - Nice place
- Nicola (10/5): - The lady that checked.e in was very friendly and helpful.
Floor could have been cleaner.
Bed sheets and towels were clean.
I will stay here again.
- Lawell (2/5): - Check in scheduled for 1pm but they informed me it as still not ready and to come back at 2.
- Michael (2/5): most terrible experience - my stay was horrible, the room was dirty. couldnt get another room. the remote wasnt there. people outside smokimg weed and drinking all night hanging out. no hot water. front desk wouldnt help us. holes in wall. filrty filty floors. i would never ever stay or referral ever.
- David (8/5): - We've stayed at this motel on several occasions. This stay seemed less than excellent. Our room was not quite as clean and had no toilet paper. We had booked a non-smoking room, but our room smelled of stale cigarettes. We were disappointed but not to the point of discontinuing our stay. The room rates are budget-friendly and we've never experienced these issues before.
- Shavon (10/5): Nice stay! - Very affordable nice staff home away from home. Thank you
- Lillie R (2/5): - The door would not shut properly.
- t (10/5): - The clerk was very friendly. She saw I had a guest with a foot injury and asked if I would prefer downstairs..she was wonderful and great attitude.
- Diana (10/5): - I have stayed here before and I always enjoy my stay. The place is clean, safe and the staff is attentive. The hotel is also reasonably priced and the service is great. Thank you for making my stay comfortable and enjoyable.
- Jared (2/5): - Extremely dirty floor. Broken curtains for people to see inside. Faucet that drips non stop. Numerous stains on bed. Purchased a non smoking room, gave me a smoking room instead with smaller beds than original purchased. If something was possibly of going wrong, it went wrong. Avoid for your own good. When you pay for cheap, you get an absolute trash of a hotel like this
- Vanessa (6/5): - It was ok
- Keneisha (4/5): - They placed us in a nasty room, tiles peeling off the floor, counter and microwave nasty... Stains in the floor... Broken AC unit
- David (8/5): - Bed was comfortable and linens clean; nice room for overnight stay. No breakfast available on site but several dining options close and convenient. Our only disappointment is no in-room coffee maker.
- Melissa (2/5): - There were multiple roaches in the toom. Every thing that was white was stained yellow. No water pressure. Toilet wouldn't flush properly. The staff wouldn't do anything to accommodate.
- mark (2/5): - worst place i ever stayed at
- jacklancaster (2/5): Don't stay at Sunset Inn!!! - My wife and I stayed one night at the Sunset Inn, 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, West Memphis, AR 72301 on August 22 – 23, 2023. This was our first stay at this motel, and it definitely will be our last!
The first problem was with our check-in. The motel employee was in an enclosed room where you had to talk through a metal grated speaker system. The employee appeared to be fearful of his customers. We booked our one-night stay through HOTELS.COM. Our booking sheet showed a one-night stay would cost $44.99 plus $6.63 taxes, for a total of $51.62.
When I entered the check-in room, there was a hand-written sign on the glass window that said: “CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL BE CHARGED $3.25”. Nothing on HOTELS.COM mentioned this charge. When I complained to the clerk, he told me I had no choice but to pay it. ($3.25 is a 6.3% markup of $51.62.) This is simply a way to disguise the TRUE price of the room!
Our next two problems were once we got to our room. We discovered that half of the door safety latch was missing, so there was no way to use it.
Next, we looked up at the ceiling and discovered the smoke detector mount ring was in the ceiling, but the smoke detector was missing!
- David (8/5): - The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was not the cleanest but was OK. The bed linens were clean and the mattress afforded a very good night's sleep. We needed a place to stay nights during a move and this budget-friendly motel met our needs.
- Stephen (6/5): Beats staying in Memphis it seems - probably better options but overall worked for what needed to do - was close to highway so that was good
- Delores (2/5): Miserable all weekend - This was the worst hotel stay I ever had in my life,,first got in the room a smell coming from one of the beds ,the spread, then, left couple of hours felt like we was still in the heat, call clerk, man came say close bathroom door. Then tuck curtains. The air never got cool we had to go buy a fan it was the wordt 2 nights, tun wss stopped up full of hair, beds had hair in it. Never stay here sgsin
- Kathy (8/5): - Great stay, clean, comfortable!! I did ask for an earlier Check in, they didn’t check the note and did not accommodate, and there was not an ashtray in our smoking room. Other than that we had a good experience here!!!
- Krystal (10/5): - It was clean
- tyroner259 (2/5): Sunset front desk lady is very rude - I’m here now at the sunset inn hotel on 300 M L king rd in west Memphis the rooms are nasty, the front desk lady attitude is very nasty. This is my second encounter with this lady and she really needs to be fired. The rooms are gross no cups no ice bucket no blanket for the bed. The floors are wet microwave and the Refridge are filthy. This place should be shut down immediately that lady that works the front Desk at night has a very very mean attitude and it stinks bad I have nothing nice too say about this place and I will be leaving this dump ….bathroom smells like straight piss can’t do another night here
- Debbie (8/5): - It was an ok experience the room was clean but they left dirty towel in the bathroom my 3 year old picked up and they had attitude when asking for more towels
- Brandon (10/5): - Great place!!!
- Melissa (10/5): - Everything was great
- Melissa (10/5): - Everyone was nice. Everyone clean. House keeping was fabulous.
- douglas (2/5): - they wouldn't honor your code.
- Hosea (8/5): - Affordable
- Hosea (8/5): - Convenience
- JOEL (6/5): - You get what you pay for, overall not bad. I asked for a non smoking room and they gave me a room that smelled strongly of marijuana and cigarettes so I have to chatrooms once, but the new room smelled alright
- Ashley (6/5): - The property itself was good but the beds were hard to me needed more towels there was 4 people in one room and only 2 towels
- Stephen (8/5): when in Memphis area - was a good enough place to stay. was a nice location. close to highway
- Stephen (8/5): - It's a value proposition. For this price, it's fine. You don't get things like shampoo or a coffee maker (and yet there is a giant TV). I don't have any regrets about staying there but wouldn't pay much for this either.
Inside it was a little worn-out and there was hole in the bedsheet from smoking, but felt clean enough.
- Michael (8/5): - Good
- Julie (8/5): - I liked the prices & dog friendly. Bedding could use replacing has holes in them. Floors could use a good cleaning/mopping
- Lisa (4/5): - Nothing to like, nor unique at all. Floors so dirty me feet were BLACK!
- Demetrius (10/5): - Great
- Eliel (10/5): - What I love about the Sunset Inn Hotel was super phenomenal, & awesome! because the room was cheaper and it was easier for me to have a ride to go to the national civil rights Museum, and downtown Memphis, and all over the city of Memphis Tennessee!!
- Katrina (6/5): - Room was good for the price. Fridge was frozen solid, but still cool enough for what I needed.
Location is very close to the speedway... Good if you're visiting for the races, but you can hear them, so not good for light sleepers or those with sensitivity to noises.
- Nicola (8/5): - It had exactly what I needed. Bed, toilet, shower, fridge and microwave. Great price and I felt safe.
- Chelsey (8/5): - It was very clean for the price
- Stacey (2/5): Wet sheets and no refunds - We really are not a picky group and just needed a place to sleep during a 20 hour road trip. Really, I mean not picky, we are campers who don't mid staying just about anywhere.
When climbing into bed I discovered that the sheets were very wet. When I asked for another room, I was told there were none (No refund available). At that point I pushed back and was told there was only one smoking room left.
The smell was not pleasant but that was ok. Both rooms smelled of smoke. I am a smoker myself but prefer to step outside.
Very run down, I would not recommend!
- Josaline (2/5): - I didn’t like how ran down and dirty the mattress was for 70 a night more like 50 or 55 should be at the most snappy woman
- Masatsugu (10/5): - Reception staff was so kind and friendly.
- Peter (8/5): - Old
- Frank (10/5): - La carpeta esta muy vieja y uele mal
- David (8/5): - This was a nice overnight place to stay. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower provided plenty of hot water with good pressure. Our room had a microwave and mini-fridge, but unfortunately no in-room coffee maker.
- Michael (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and the room was acceptable. The sink faucet kept leaking whenever I turned it on in rm #204. But no complaints. Really quiet at night.
- Anssy (2/5): - Poor condition
- Joseph (6/5): - Place was nothing more than adequate. Not especially good value wise. Strangest thing I noticed was the floor was perpetually wet.
- Floyd (8/5): - It was okay nice room I had no smoking but I had book a smoking room by mistake but I had a ball can use some improvement too but it was okay
- Michael (8/5): - Property looks ok from outside, but they need new bed covers, towels and clean the floors. Maybe resurface the tub and it would be great. The area is quiet and convient to downtown, walmart, casino, gas station, restaurants. The little things would make a huge difference.
- TAMMY (2/5): - It was beyond dirty. We pulled their covers from the bed and used our own. Unfriendly staff there was 2 dirty looking towels in the room. There was 4 of us. We ask for more towels were firmly told no.
- Tamara (10/5): - Friendly staff, comfortable beds
- Heather (2/5): - Gross
- 470kimberleey (2/5): Service report - There were stains on the bed they let food in the fridge and hair on our towels and bad customer service and would not give us back our money back. Never go there and we got 2 rooms and it was horrible
- Monique (2/5): - This property was filthy, dead bugs in the room. The bed had been slept in, ie: dirty sheets, cigarette ashes on the pillow and sheets, Used towels trash on the floor
- cyndi (8/5): - Was great to stop there. Floor was really dirty. But great besides that 💙
- Michael (10/5): - Available
- Madeleine (10/5): - Not the cleanest motel but the rooms are fine and it's not far from downtown memphis, just across the bridge
- Mija (2/5): - The property had blood on the bed sheets. There were no mattress protector and huge stains on the mattress.
The chairs were black with stain. The bathroom was filthy with used towels.
The management said I get refunded because I did not stay then lied to the Expedia representative making a refund difficult.
The place is a biohazard, do not stay here!
- Jenny (10/5): - Great
- Omar (2/5): - Garbage. Looking for a roof under your head not this is the place …
- Jessica (6/5): - Ok
- Rickey (10/5): Beyond Van Gogh - All I need is a comfortable bed to sleep on and a clean bathroom to take care of those needs and that’s what I got! I’ll stay there again also easy access to I-40 and 55 to Downtown Memphis.
- Valeriya (2/5): - the deadbolt didn't work and there was no way to close the door. super dirty room! i requested non-smoking and was giving something that smelled like smoke shop,
- LaDaren (8/5): My review - For what I paid for the room was cool. I had an early flight in the morning. Needed something for a few hours to get some rest. The bed was a little uncomfortable but I made do.
- Jamey (2/5): Don't stay here - They put me out ut for having a service dog and then I left my wedding rings and they stole them the lady in the office is very mean and just keeps saying her house keeper is there I just want my rings back plus they have roaches and the room was disgustingly dirty
- David (10/5): - This was our first stay at this motel & with mixed reviews, we were a little nervous. We were so glad we gave it a try! Our room was clean & appeared to be remodeled. The bed's firm mattress was comfortable & afforded a good night's sleep. Towels were adequate; the shower/bath had been updated & water pressure was good with plenty of hot water. Microwave & mini-fridge were in good working order. The decor may not be trendy but was pleasant. The desk associate was polite & efficient. This motel satisfactorily offers what travelers need for an out-of-town stay at prices that are very budget-friendly without the extra frills of more expensive accommodations. We will stay at Sunset Inn when in the West Memphis area in the future.
- Madeleine (10/5): - Bathroom was very dirty and the room smelled bad when I walked in, like mold.
- Crystal M (6/5): - Had a great experience!
- Mohammadreza (6/5): - .
- steven (4/5): - The hotel had roaches and very dirty
- Meika (4/5): - Tge management is very hostile
- Audrey (6/5): - The room was not clean and the blanket on the bed had cigarette burn holes. The bathroom was not clean, the microwave was not clean. The room is a little outdated.
- Rochelle (8/5): Emergency stop - It was convenient and the price was perfect
- William (10/5): Clean, convenient and affordable - The room wasn’t fancy, just comfortable and clean. Looks like an unfinished construction project in the room but it didn’t hinder my stay.
- Bobbi (2/5): - I can find nothing good to say about this motel. The staff was rude. The building was filthy and in serious disrepair. There were layers of filth. We saw bugs. There was a pervasive scent of urine. The pillows were flat and weren’t even in pillow cases.
Learn from our mistake. Do not book here.
- John (4/5): - For a non-smoking room, there were a few too many cigarette burns on the bed clothes. I’m not too prissy, but I feel like the sheets should at least be washed once a month and it… didn’t look like they had. The shower curtain was mildewy, which almost prompted me to go to Walmart and just eat the $6 and replace it for them. When I noticed that the show curtain rings were scant and they themselves were moldy, I decided that this borderline impressive organism did not deserve to be so unceremoniously replaced. So far, I’ve only been itchy for 48 hours after my stay, so I’m hopeful that subsides this week!
- Marquita (2/5): - It was the absolute worst motel bed spread sheets at the bottom of the bed was filthy nasty and dirty, manager and his wife both rude make up their own policy or rules, had the big dog running through the parking lot, call the cops three times in one week absolutely terrible service, smelled like mold in the air conditioner I coughed badly in my sleep
- Dustin (2/5): - I didn’t even get to check in we needed the room the night before
