Guest Reviews
- Deidre (8/5): - Clean and comfortably
- Theresa (2/5): - I am writing to express my disappointment with the condition and service of the motel I recently booked. The rooms were unclean and had a strong mold odor. I had reserved a room for $99, but the individual at the front desk had an unprofessional attitude. He informed me that check-in was at midnight and check-out was at 5:00 am, which I found unusual. He attempted to show me an alternative room, but it was equally unsatisfactory. Unfortunately, he did not offer a refund and instead walked away, leaving us standing there. We had traveled from another state, and I was particularly concerned about the motel's safety due to a prior incident. Additionally, I have a medical condition that requires the use of a machine, and I felt that the environment was not suitable. I would advise against booking a room at this establishment unless you are seeking a short-term booty call stay. I was forced to dispute the charges, and I regret not taking photos of the rooms before returning the key.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Good
- Gilbert (8/5): - There were no other options in this area. The stay was satisfactory over all.
- Johnshawn (10/5): - Will stay again
- Patricia (4/5): - First of all, even though the Hotel itself wasn't that great. The customer service was great. The owner was professional and friendly. I won't describe why I wasn't all that happy with my stay, but I will say to Hotels.com that you guys are scammers. First I was quoted a 300+ total bill and when I checked my credit card you had charged me 490+ dollars. I know you won't miss me not ever going through your company again, because I won't and I will tell all my friends about my experience with Hotels.com you guys aren't worth crap. I hope you be honest with the rest of your customers. I'm sure you've scammed many others. You might not see it now, but karma will get you back one day. Taking people money.
- Edward (8/5): - I wanted to check this place out because the price was good, the venue was clean. I get very concerned when I see Indian owned businesses. The family running this venue is doing it right. The major chains that have Indian franchisees are over their head with operating a hospitality business. I well stay there again no issues.
- Angelia (10/5): - Everything was nice as always.
- Margaret (8/5): - This property is a classic motel - park right outside room, dated but comfortable room with crisp linens on bed, spotless bathroom, even a refrigerator and microwave. Traveling solo as a female, I had no safety concerns on property.
- George (6/5): - Nice
- Joseph (6/5): - I didn't expect anything other than a basic room for one night. But, really, no hot water?
- Catherine (2/5): - Bed bugs in rooms
- Margaret (10/5): - It was a clean place the owner was very nice and friendly the neighborhood and little town was very interesting if you are interested in visiting little older towns that could be revived. I hope they stay like they are,😎😎
- Esther (8/5): - It's a 3-star motel. You get what you pay for. It was what I expected. I have stayed in 5-star hotels as well. I was in town for a funeral and this is the only hotel in town. It wasn't bad. The staff was nice and accommodating. It was as clean as it was going to be. It didn't smell. The bathroom was clean. I disinfected the room just as I would any hotel room I stayed in. My son and I were fine and felt safe.
- Robert (8/5): Close to perfect - Since I was there last trip, the Microwave had been replaced and the TV had premium channels added. The room was clean and comfortable as always. The only other changes I would love to see are: (1) have the ice macine fixed and (2) add a three pronged plug by the desk so that you don't need to bring an extension cord to plug in ypur computer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean enough
- Jean (6/5): - Older hotel but it was clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): About what was expected - It is about what is expected for the price. Nothing fancy, just a place to sleep on my business trip. The bed was very comfortable. However, the water pressure was horrible.
- ROBERT (6/5): - This property was very Spartin. The room was clean, with plenty of hot water, and the bed was comfortable. on the other side, the room is very small, there was no convenient outlet to plug your computer into, there was no coffee maker in the room, and the TV channels available were a joke
- Charles (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful owners/staff. My room was clean and comfortable. It was equiped with a mini fridge and microwave. If you're looking for a luxurious beach resort with fine dining and room service, you're in the wrong area. If you're looking for a clean and comfortable place to get a good night's rest, I have no problem recommending it. The area is rough on the economic scale, but everyone with whom I had interactions were kind and friendly.
- Alan (10/5): - It was a clean well run motel. Nothing fancy but lacked nothing.
- RENARDA (8/5): - This is a good option for limited stay in the area. Property was clean.
- robertoI3559IO (8/5): Decades of Staying here - To Whom it May Concern:
I can sum-up Voyager Inn in Aliceville, AL as safe, clean, hospitable, continually maintained and updated, and very reasonably priced.
I have stayed at this motel for literally decades now. What is left of the old family farm is nearby, so it is very convenient for us.
The exterior is well maintained from the roof to the parking lot. They always seem to have some type of upgrade or cosmetic efforts in progress.
The rooms are well maintained and cleaned daily. I have always found the beds to be comfortable and they appear to be new, or recently replaced.
The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They will go extra mile for their guest, and yes that how you are treated. As an appreciated and respected guest.
- Kristin Renee (8/5): - My husband and I booked this hotel for the Tennessee Vs Alabama game. The room was very clean, The property was nice. This hotel is in the middle of no where. And there was alot of drug deals going on next door.
- Hank (6/5): Meh, nothing great - you get what you pay for. - Clean room. Very, very little comforts.
Lots of damage area on walls that were patched but not painted. Shower curtain rod was broken.
Had two wash cloths, two towels - no hand towels. Had microwave and mini fridge but NO COFFEE MAKER!😩 TV had only a couple channels.
It was a comfortable bed, and sheets, floors, bathroom were clean, but probably would book there again.
- Van (10/5): An Enjoyable Stay at a very Hospitable Facility - My wife and I were visiting the Aliceville, AL area as a potential spot to relocate upon my wife joining me in retirement in 2022, where we booked and stayed two nights at the Voyager Inn... the only motel within 30 miles of the community. Despite of the limited availability of other motels, especially that of other name brand motels our stay was enjoyable and the facility very hospitable. The only downside, although not a dealbreaker for the wife and I was the lack of the expected and usual amenity of an iron and ironing board.
- donald (10/5): Great stay - Staying here for work for time being. Nice place to just stay for that. No problems at all..
- Zach (8/5): Great Place - This is your only option to stay within 20 miles of Aliceville. I accidentally reserved a smoking room the first night and had to work early the next day and the owner moved my stuff into a non smoking room for me. The place was clean and it has a King size bed with direct tv. It was a pretty nice stay for $60 a night.
- Frosty99 (4/5): - Price was low & facility reflected that. No hand towels. Would recommend spending a bit more and get a better room
- Suzy (6/5): - Had no clue it was in the middle of nowhere. No coffee or amenities. Bed was horrible.
- Donald (8/5): - The reception person was friendly and efficient the rooms were clean. The property seemed a little unsecure from the rest of the community not gated.
- Francis (8/5): It's ok for sleep. - Older motel, but was there for business and it was close to job location. Room was very small.
- Willie (10/5): - It were very clean and in A good location. It were quite and no one lottering in parking lot. I plan on staying there everytime I go to Aliceville.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was comfortable and clean. Very quiet and met my expectations!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Locatiin for gettung in to Carrollton AL early the next morning. Good location right on the highway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its a great place to stay when visiting someone at the federal Bureau of Prisons there about 5 miles away
- Walter (8/5): - The property is very simple and basic, good for one or two nights if you are in the area. It is very old but it has been remodeled well. Most everything is fairly new and in good condition. It was clean and all was in working order. The customer service was very good. Tbe ice machine is still not working but they kindly provided ice for us at the office with a smile.
- Natalie (10/5): Great - People were wonderful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the property was easy to find.
- pat (8/5): - I had a positive experience. The only thing I would suggest is that each room have a small coffee maker in it, as well as an iron and ironing board.
- Karen (10/5): - Very comfortable and clean room. Great value option than staying in Tuscaloosa for a football game.
- RickMz (8/5): - Clean room and property, good location. Exceeded expectations.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - My room was locked before my checkout time and the staff hovered over me as I got my things together to leave the room
- Verified traveler (8/5): Don't judge a book by it's cover. - When you drive up, it looks like a run down mess of a place. But, the rooms are in excellent condition. The rooms are cleaner than other hotels/motels that are 3 times the price. No dust anywhere. You could sleep on the carpet. The tile floors are spotless.
- Mike (10/5): Great experience. You get that for which you pay. - Very clean, very cheap, easy access and great customer service. Not a single complaint to be had!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad for a roadside inn. - Rooms and beds were clean and the AC worked fine. Price was right so overall not bad at all.
- kp (10/5): - Very clean with friendly staff. Fast WiFi! Will stay again when I'm in town.
- Loretta (2/5): Afraid to stay - I would not get out of the car. People around the motel scared me. I did not feel safe. The front window of the motel had a drawer that at night you had to use for service. I figured they had problems of safety at night. Would not suggest this motel to anyone.
- Helen711 (6/5): Clean and adequate - The only motel in Aliceville, located on State Route MS 17 on a sharp curve. Surprisingly large parking lot in good condition. Everything is adequate, but there wasn't a coffee pot. Quick check in. When my husband went to the office to ask for an additional pillow, he got it with no problem.
- NOLAGirl_50_11 (10/5): Pleasantly Surprised - I was coming up to visit a friend at the Federal Prison, which is unpleasant enough to see her in that horrible place, but my stay at the Voyager made it easier. Free WiFi, small fridge and microwave, and the non-smoking room was actually non-smoking. I had a flat screen TV with DirectTV and a very comfortable bed. I really can't say anything bad about the place. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value! Very Clean! - My room was very clean which was extremely important to me. It is an older hotel but was well maintained. The air conditioner was a little noisy but tolerable. For the value, it was great to be able to avoid the drive from Columbus or West Point. I will be staying here again when I am in the area.
- Dick and Carol (10/5): Very well kept motel with helpful manager - We are a senior couple bicycling from Mobile to Cincinnati. Good lodging has been hard to find on our route, so this comfortable motel was a welcome find.
- Eduardo (10/5): Hotel perfecto para ir a Aliceville - El motel se encuentra en excelente ubicación, tiene la facilidad de comunicar a todos los destinos para conocer, es cómodo, accesible, el servicio es excelente.
- George R. (10/5): Quiet and exceptional service - The staff were amazing. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will stay at voyager again when we are in town next.
- Terrie (10/5): More Than I could Have Expected! Very Clean - I was visiting family for the 1st time and was very Pleasantly Pleased with the condition of this hotel. It was very, very, very clean and I highly recommend staying at this Inn
- Bridget (8/5): Worth the stay - Arrived on a Sunday evening. Our visit to Aliceville was for the purpose of visiting a relative at the Aliceville prison (about 8 minutes away) on Monday.
At first appearance, the Voyager seems like not a safe place to sleep at. The inn is located in the impoverished part of seriously tiny Aliceville. Our room's window appeared to have once been tampered with by someone who might have tried to break in; the caulking was missing on one side. Or maybe it was just old and falling apart. Aside from that, everything else was fine. The room was surprisingly clean, there was hot water for our showers, and the owner/manager was helpful and pleasant. And there was no noise from the close neighbors so we slept well. (But maybe it's a different story on a Friday or Saturday night.)
My husband, with the bad back, complained that the bed was too firm but, for me, it was fine.
There are only about 6 restaurants, maybe 4 gas stations, and 1 grocery store (Piggly Wiggly) in Aliceville so be prepared with your own cooler and food.
When we got to Aliceville the Piggly Wiggly was already closed (at 6pm). Thankfully, Subway was open; it was the only healthy option (for vegetarians, too). The nearest cities with more options were about an hour away; but we were too tired to drive.
- bd8212015 (8/5): Not a Star Trek - It is no Star ship but It is very clean and wit a very good price. Double room with double beds, TV, Frig, free wifi, average rate 65.00 a night. 4 miles from the Federal Prison in Aliceville, Al. with very friendly operators. That is the best parts of staying there and I use it each time we go.
Problems: Subway is the best place to eat unless you plan to cook outside; which is allowed, as long as you clean the area afterward. I was not impressed with eating at the Jack's. The food was half cooked the one time and one time was enough for us that we eat there. It you want something other than Subway or Jack's, you will have to drive 30 miles to Columbus, MS. Aliceville is a small town that closes at sundown. No movies to go to or other places near for a night out. But if that is okay for you and your visit is for a few days only; this just might be what you are looking for.
I have used this Inn once a month since September 2015, and I have not had any problems with this establishment.
BDW, from North West Florida
- jal0827 (10/5): Very much acceptable - Is this a 4 or 5 star hotel? No but I have been treated much worse at a higher rated hotel. To begin with, this is a motel but super clean, very reasonable and the owners are very nice people. Over the last 2 years, we have stayed here many times. They know us and treat us extremely well. The biggest drawback is that the town is very small and doesn't offer much. We bring our own food and look at it as a weekend of relaxation. We have always felt safe here and the town of Aliceville seems to be peaceful. We will continue to stay here for as long as there is a reason to go to Aliceville. The rooms have been update recently and are very comfortable.
- darrelly2014 (8/5): Nice Family Business - Super Friendly Service - This is a nice place to stay if you are visiting a love one that is incarcerated there since it it is only about 4 miles from the location versus driving 64 miles a day back and forth from Columbus, MS. It is located close to Piggly Wiggly, CVS, Jacks, Gates Restaurant, Subway etc. The Wifi operated without any problems, a small refrigerator and microwave are provided, You can get an iron from the rental office but there is no ironing board, you have to use the table. It is a nice little establishment, I am going back to visit my loved on this Thursday and am staying there again,
- 780ch (2/5): Voyage the Heck out of this place! - This place is ridiculous! First off, good luck trying to understand a word the front office people say. Second, pay no mind to all the contradictory signs. 'No pets' - unless you want to stay in a crappy room that the smokers use. 'Check out at 10' - or 11, or 12, but no later than that. I would have gladly paid the extra to stay at the bed and breakfast up the road.
