• wjkeene4 (10/5): A beautiful place to reunite with friends - Our family of four, along with some of our closest friends, recently spent an unforgettable week exploring the stunning coastline of Roatán, and every moment was thoughtfully curated by the exceptional team at Xbalanque. From snorkeling vibrant reefs and scuba diving in crystal-clear waters to deep-sea fishing and sailing on a catamaran tour, each excursion was seamlessly arranged and unforgettable. The resort itself is a sanctuary of relaxation and luxury. The decor that Mrs. Patsy has collected from around the world sets such a unique and tranquil setting. We took full advantage of the on-site amenities, including the well-equipped gym, serene spa, and the open-air pavilion where we enjoyed yoga and a rejuvenating sound bath. Its prime location made it easy to stroll along the beach to West Bay or stop by the nearby nature park to visit with the monkeys and macaws—much to the delight of our kids. Every day brought a new adventure shared with our children and friends, but some of our favorite moments were simply spent lounging by the pool and beachfront. The team at the Lotus Restaurant took phenomenal care of us, serving up delicious meals with warmth and attention that truly made us feel at home. The chefs even prepared a red snapper that we caught while deep sea fishing right off the coast of the resort! Our suite was cozy and beautifully appointed, with a breathtaking view of the sun setting over the ocean—a perfect way to close each day. We are already counting the days until our next visit. Xbalanque captured our hearts, and we will most definitely be back.

• Adventurer631191 (10/5): Xbalanque Resort, Roatan - Probably one of the loveliest resorts I've been to. Wonderful setting where the jungle meets the beach. Fruit trees abound - coconut, banana, mango... The rooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated. The restaurant on site, "Lotus", offered a delicious coffee and breakfast each morning. Never had a bad meal. The proximity to "West End", minutes away, made Xbalanque a treasure to enjoy. Can't wait to go back!!
• G2693MMkatherinel (2/5): Avoid at all cost - Stay elsewhere. Largest issue is that after 10pm you are left to fend for yourself. Needed assistance at 11pm and had to go to the hotel next door. They were kind and the security guard helped us move hotels after food posioning from the hotel restaurant. Xbalanque resort on the other hand couldn’t assist and the security guard was not even on property. One thing to stay at a guesthouse and not have assistance but when you spend almost $300/night it’s unacceptable. property. Even before the incident, I was going to leave a poor review because The rooms are horrendously far from the beach. While you can get a golf cart it’s a pain and this was not disclosed in the booking process. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

We went with two other families and the staff accommodating for everything. They were all so kind and attentive. The food and drink selection on the resort was also amazing. Tasteful amenities like quality live music, sound baths, yoga, spa time. I will be bringing my extended family here, for sure!
• A1940TEsarahj (10/5): Trip of a Lifetime - Our stay at the Xbalanque was absolutely amazing! We visited with our extended family and each stayed in different suites. The suites were perfect for each of our individual families and had beautiful views of the ocean. The location was perfect, walking distance or a short water taxi to both West Bay and West End. We enjoyed visiting both areas but were so happy to return home to the Xbalanque each afternoon to enjoy our own private beach. Sunsets were amazing! The staff, especially Patsy, made us feel right at home. They treated us as if we were family. My kids loved playing on the beach and swimming in the pool. They had kayaks for us to use to take out to the reef for snorkeling. The meals we enjoyed at their restaurant, Lotus, were fabulous! The staff helped us arrange a snorkel tour one day and a catamaran tour another day. They provided information on visiting the Mayan Jungle where you can see monkeys and sloth and zipline. Nothing but great things to say about this place...can't wait to go back:-)
• I4675OYericb (10/5): Peaceful and Relaxing Stay @ Xbalanque Resort - Highly Recommend! - My wife and I were visiting Roatan for a friends and were able to spend the last few days of our vacation at Xbalanque. This resort was in a great location in Turtle Beach, nestled in between the West End and West Bay. We really enjoyed how tranquil and relaxing our stay was. The staff is very friendly, the hospitality was great. Thank you to "Roatan" Randy, Jamie, Chris and Mike. Food at the Lotus was great, lovely Caribbean homestyle food that was delicious. The room was nestled amongst the trees, really pretty and quiet. Slept really well, the AC in the room was fantastic. Would love to try out one of the larger suites on the beach when going back to Roatan as they looked really nice. Overall would recommend this place for any couples or families travelling to Roatan.
• Judyenewengland (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Oceanfront Resort - This serene boutique resort checks all the boxes for a peaceful escape. Our yoga group just spent five nights at Xbalanque. The beauty of this special place cannot be overstated. The aesthetic of Xbalanque is defined by a gorgeous combination of natural wood, stone, tropical flowers and plants, and spectacular art. There are many places throughout the resort to eat, swim, relax (in sun and shade), have a massage, or swing in a hammock on the dock. Some of the qualities of Xbalanque that stood out for us: the attentive, friendly staff, the food, the comfortable beds, the filtered water everywhere!, the gorgeous jungle yoga palapa, and the overall beauty of the grounds. Our group snorkeled and saw the amazing coral reef and fish that Roatan is famous for, one person went fishing and caught enough fish to feed our group of 14 for dinner one night! Patsy, the owner of Xbalanque, has created a lovely oasis for her guests, she treats her staff like family and their attentiveness to guests is a testament to her appreciation for them and for those of us lucky enough to experience this uniquely beautiful place.

• VacationDMB (10/5): Exceptional resort in the perfect location in Roatan - We just returned from a week stay at the Xbalanque resort and cannot say enough good things about it. The owner, Patsy, was extremely gracious and very responsive. She answered all of our questions in advance of our stay to ensure we were well prepared for the trip. She offered us ground transportation to/from the airport which gave us great peace of mind. Danny picked us up from the airport and offered us a grocery stop, which was a huge help so that we could have snacks/drinks in our room. Edder gave us our return trip back to the airport and several rides to and from our excursions throughout the week. He was awesome. He was always punctual, reliable, and fun to be around. The front desk stay was great and helped us plan excursions for every day- some of our favorites were the dolphin action swim, zip lining, scuba diving and the fishing/snorkel trip. What I loved most is that the resort was in the perfect spot on the island. No crowds and very private and serene. But there was tons to do if you wanted to do excursions. And almost all of our excursions were private which was extra special. We stayed in the sun room which was extremely spacious. There were two bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room and beautiful outdoor deck with ocean views. We travel a lot and This was one of the best family vacations we have had. Huge thank you to the entire Xbalanque staff for making our stay so enjoyable!!
• kathrynaW781JG (8/5): Private resort experience? Yes please! - Would definitely recommend a stay at Xbalanque! Shoutout to Mike at Lotus Restaurant. He was such a joy and even agreed to serve us dinner when we showed up 10 minutes before the restaurant closed. The food was also delicious. We ate there at least 10 times during our 5 day stay and in particular I need to RAVE about the BALEADAS at breakfast! Soooo so good. The seafood risotto at dinner was also delightful and both desserts on the menu (key lime pie and tres leches cake) were a must-try! I did have reasons for docking the hotel by 1 star. First of all, we were the only guests at the entire resort for the first 2 days, which was awesome! Private pool, private beach, private restaurant! However, our room was not in the main building (the one shown in all the photos) and we had to walk up a very steep hill in an overgrown path to get to a series of buildings on the street behind. I think they could have advertised that the room was not in the main building at time of purchase, and definitely could have upgraded our room to a room in the main building since no one else was there lol! So from that aspect, customer service wasn't so great. Also, the receptionist left at ~2pm every day, so she said we could call a golf cart if we wanted to get back to the restaurant in the main building at night, but she wasn't there to call it or help us plan activities! However, it was so peaceful and I would stay there again. It came recommended to us by Roatan Divers, and they even picked us up from Xbalanque's dock numerous times, so if you're a diver I would recommend this as well.
• T6727LAjosephb (10/5): The Perfect Roatan Resort - This is an excellent place to stay in Roatan. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. EVERYTHING about Xbalanque was amazing. The rooms, location, beach, pools, staff, food, drinks, - everything. It's a few minutes from the reef, a short 5 minute water taxi to West End, and an easy 15 minute walk to West Bay. Despite that, it is a very quiet, peaceful place. Perfect, perfect, perfect.

• LT-Bethesda (10/5): Amazing boutique resort with friendly, helpful staff - This was our first trip to Roatan, and we did a lot of research before deciding where to stay. We wanted to avoid crowds, and Xbalanque seemed perfectly situated for that. It didn't take long after we arrived to decide that we had chosen the perfect location for us. We were able to walk to the far end of West Bay Beach in about 15 minutes, and we could hail a water taxi at the resort's dock to take us to West End. Every time we went to either of those locations, we were so happy to return to the serenity of Xbalanque. The staff we encountered were all fantastic, from William who met us when we arrived (we got there later than anticipated) to Christopher who was our server at several meals. And of course I have to give a big shout-out to Mike, who was always on hand with a smile when we were ready to eat or order a round of drinks from the bar. He was a pleasure to interact with and helped to make our trip special. The grounds and facilities at Xbalanque are top notch. The restaurant, Lotus, is a beautiful space, and we enjoyed several meals there. The freshwater pool is amazing, and somehow we were often the only ones using it. We stayed in the Del Mar Suite and it was perfect for the three of us. We will definitely return to Xbalanque and will recommend it to anyone we know considering a trip to Roatan.
• T1555ENkellys (10/5): Paradise in Roatan - We celebrated our daughters’s 10th birthday in Roatan and had the pleasure of staying at Xbalanque Resort. This immaculate and secluded property sits on a private beach. The well appointed rooms are above and beyond. The food was perfection. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The owner, Patsy, was present and the perfect host. They made every effort to ensure we had a lovely trip…. Right down to a surprise birthday cake for our daughter. We will cherish the memories we made at Xbalanque forever.
• 637queent (10/5): I'm ready to go back! - The Xbalanque hotel is tip top notch. I love the art all throughout the hotel. The gym is nice with nice views. The pool is beautiful and a nice size as well as the hot tub. They even have a very nice gift shop which is where I purchased a new nude bathing suit and a cute long Moo Moo and some earrings. The ocean views are breathtaking any time of day. The staff are so helpful, patient, social and so nice.

The place is immaculate and the quiet secluded beach and pool was just what we were hoping for. Patsy was a fantastic host and made us feel comfortable the whole time. The Lotus restaurant food was delicious and they were super helpful to point us to water taxis to go to West End and West Bay for snorkeling as well. We stayed in the Sun suite which was spacious, clean, and true to its name full of sun. Cant wait to come back!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel moderno con areas de mejora - El hotel es bonito y moderno pero con mucha area de mejora. No hay recepcionista despues de las 4 pm. Hubieron varios incidentes que requerían atención de alguien del hotel (caida en escaleras porque no hay elevador y tema de limpieza). Los camastros, alberca, cubiertos, tina sucios. Hubo una alita de pollo (chicken wing) flotando en la alberca dos dias seguidos. La tina de la habitación sucia. Varias ventanas en las habitaciones sin persianas, por lo tanto te despertabas a las 5 am cuando pagas por un hotel para ir a descansar.
• Steven (2/5): - Uninspired rooms in more of a dormitory-like building not by the beach. Limited hot water, and horrible water pressure. Wifi password was nowhere to be found and the phone system wasn't working. Overall it just seemed a bad value and certainly not a luxury experience. The road to the resort was just a series of holes with exposed steel rebar.

Wonderful experience! - We traveled with friends in June of 2023 and had a very memorable experience at the Xbalanque Resort. the furnishings, staff, food and other amenities were tip rate! The Resort picked us up from the airport where we were met by the owner in front of large mahogany doors that led into the tastefully furnished foyer with with cozy chairs, teak tables and unique art pieces. The Lotus Restaurant, overlooking the gorgeous pool and spa, provided of our delicious meals and the bartenders whipped up unique cocktails for us. Our well-appointed two bedroom/two bath suite had plenty of room and included a sitting room, dining area, bar and a beautiful full-sized kitchen with a magnificent view of the Caribbean Sea and beach. The sunsets were stunning. Each bedroom had an entire wall with built-in mahogany wardrobes. The bathrooms had double sinks and plenty of shelving for towels and toiletries. The Resort arranged all of our on-site massages, golf outings, boating, fishing, snorkeling trips, zip-lining and rum tasting trips! We stayed busy, but enjoyed relaxing on the beach, sitting on the pier and lingering at our dinners under the stars while listening to various music artists. This is definitely a place you cannot miss.

They raved about a lesser known destination that offered great snorkeling/diving, fishing, zip-lining, food , safety, and lush accommodations. Xbalanque Roatan provided all that...and more. This exotic boutique hotel is nestled away from the more crowded areas and easily accessible from the airport where they greeted us. A short 10 minute walks gets you to the tourist bars, beaches, and restaurants...did this once just to say we did. Had no desire to return there since Xbalanque had everything we wanted without the crowds. Water and land taxis are quickly summoned. Patsy the owner made our party of 9 feel at home from the time of arrival. The rooms are tastefully decorated, large and the layout of the resort was easy to navigate. ..even after a few too many Monkey Lalas made by Randy the bartender. The grounds were manicured daily. Some of our crowd played golf nearby and some had massages at the resort...both arranged by just asking. The Lotus restaurant and bar was highly rated and we ended up eating most all meals there...couldn't be better! First class food and great service. Janine the manager was the sweetest...so eager to please us all. After a week of being relentlessly spoiled by the staff and the relaxing atmosphere, we returned to our normal lives. But we all agreed to return again soon. Xbalanque is a treasure!
• Voyager56721322490 (10/5): Xbalanque Resort, ONE OF THE BEST - If you are looking for the perfect spot to vacation away from the crowds and in one of the most beautiful places in the world, consider visiting Xbalanque Resort. Owned by a couple from the US who planned it with the utmost of care and friendliness, the owners are often at the resort and give it a family friendly atmosphere. Incredibly, it has capacity for only 42 guests so there is never a time when you feel crowded, rushed or cramped. The rooms are luxurious and large and have all of the amenities of the luxury hotels without the hassle and bustle. There is ample seating room in the dining areas, adjacent to the hot tub and the infinity pool. One of the highlights of our trip was the excellent staff overall, especially those that ran The Lotus restaurant. These workers are like family and get to know your name if you stay there for more than two days. They are kind and caring and the food is exquisite and we mean anything you order. Not one less than excellent meal (many of the recipes were concocted by the owners!). On the beach there are areas with shade or with direct sun for all sunworshipers. Over the ocean there is a walkway to a covered deck over the sea behind the resort where the marvelous ocean breezes can keep you cool even in the heat of the middle of the day. Many excursions are available for all including snorkeling, deep sea fishing and just meandering around the beautiful island of Roatan itself. We had never been to this island, but it has now become one of our favorite vacation sites as you might be able to glean from this review. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, Xbalanque gets a 20 from us. Don't miss a chance to visit this as soon as possible.
• webbf2023 (10/5): Roatan is a great place and Xbalanque is the place to stay to maximize your enjoyment - Great resort with wonderful amenities. Spacious accommodations. Excellent restaurant. Extremely accommodating and friendly staff. Wonderful snorkeling and diving right out the back door. Also deep sea fishing is available and right off shore. Beautifully landscaped and well maintained. I stayed a week; lots of tuna (which the kitchen cooked for me) and wonderful snorkeling with turtles, snappers, groupers, etc. I will return.
• dorief313 (10/5): Best Vacation Ever - My husband and I just returned from Xbalanque, for a weeks vacation with friends and rate this resort as one of our top vacations. The staff were spectacular, the accommodations were superb, and the rooms were comfortable and very clean. If you chartered the boat you could snorkel and deep sea fish in the same trip. The resort is centrally located in West Bay and easy to get around. A very stress free vacation. Loved it and would recommend this resort to anyone and will definitely return. Thank you, to all the staff for making this such a great vacation.

• juliehE7442CG (10/5): Last minute wedding - We reached out to the owner and asked if she would host 18 of us for a wedding in just a few days. She bent over backwards to accommodate all of us. Offered to prepare any certain meal we’d like, make a cake, get flowers, anything we needed. She actually gifted us a suite for the evening to get changed and have champagne in. The manager , Janine helped with everything we needed and offered even more. The evening was beautiful and exactly what we wanted it to be. Thank you for the lovely staff and flawless meal service. The food was the very best we had in the island. And we ate all over that island. The resort is gorgeous and on a very quiet part of the beach with nearly no traffic. I highly recommend this resort.

• haroldtorresz (10/5): Love everything about this resort - I’ve been in the island several times but since I stayed at this resort I felt the real reason why roatan is a jewel in the Caribbean. The views at our suit were amazing. I’ve appreciated a perfect sunset from the private beach sitting on the sand that’s more like oats mixing with the unbelievable turquoise blue ocean. Janine and her staff are lovely efficient people that make us feel welcome and well cared. Time is not enough to enjoy all the beautiful things this resort has. A private pier with hammocks while the ocean breeze sings, relaxing pool and a delicious cuisine ar part of the amenities. All the facilities and suites with a Modern design, super clean with all the comfort needed and expected for a perfect vacation.

The Lotus restaurant onsite has really good food and drink; the sea bass was probably one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. You won’t be disappointed staying at Xbalanque!
• biddyp87 (8/5): This review was updated. - I place a review which was out of frustration and the way this hotel charges you extra processing fees on top of your suite charges. However, I feel to review the great service that the staff offers here. The restaurant could use an update but the servers are great and my wife liked their breakfast. We were sick throughout the trip and this may everything difficult. I believe Patsy should allow other payment methods like WIRE TRANSFERS, but it doesn’t reflect poorly on the hotel and employees. The hotels looks great, my wife didn’t like it much and the fact she tried placing a reservation and her request was totally ignore. This could be due to many reasons; like room availability and other factors. I should give them the benefit of doubt. The hotel staff and restaurant servers were very kind so tip them well, even the cleaning staff did a great job.

• Jessica (10/5): - First of all- let me say that i did not miss home whatsoever! I loved everything about our stay from our luxurious room to the hotel staff! We were treated like family and enjoyed the pool and beautiful beach, we COULD NOT find better food off the resort. We tried. Asked for recommendations from everyone and just realized we had it good at Xbalanque. Huge perk was that it was empty- we had the whole place to ourselves! We specifically chose it because it said adult only, but found out that kids to frequent the hotel. Wasn’t an issue- just making any of you aware that want nothing to do with kids. Couple of concerns/notes: nightlife is nonexistent. If you want entertainment, go somewhere else for that then come back to the hotel. There was a singer for live music night on Saturday that was SOOOO depressing. Killed the fun we were trying to have. Also make sure to bring cash for the water taxis. And all the bug repellent you can get your hands on. It would be nice if they could plant some citronella or have tiki torches to ward of some of the bugs. Inside the rooms is fine but as soon as you open the doors, the mosquitoes are waiting.

• Karen (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel - The staff at Xbalanque were super helpful and always friendly. They were attentive and always looking out for the guests. They helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations, and also transportation to and from restaurants - making everything really easy. Our room (one of the lofts) was very spacious and comfortable - we were there for a week and we were grateful to have such a beautiful and comfortable space to come home to every day. The grounds, pool, hot tub & dock are beautiful and well kept - a great spot to stay if you're looking to get away from the commercial / touristy spots of West Bay. The hotel / pool / restaurant never felt crowded. Our diving outfitter (Roatan Divers, also highly recommend) picked us up from the hotel's private dock each day making staying here even more convenient.

However, West Bay is about a 15 min walk along the beach and West End is 10 min by taxi. The property is small and intimate. Perfect for getting away and forgetting about 'real' life for awhile. The dining room (Lotus) is top notch and probably one of the best places to eat on the island. The staff (Genesis, Robby, Randy and William) are all excellent and attend to everything. If you are lucky enough to be there when the owners (Patsy and Dennis) are there your stay will be even better. You will definitely not be disappointed when you stay here.

• victoria (10/5): Beautiful hotel in a idylic location - I recently visited Roatan and stayed until this hotel for 3 days. From the moment we got picked up in the airport we were felt welcome. The hotel is simply beautifully designed and extremely well appointed. The staff were eager to please, very helpful and made us feel at home. The location was ideal as it was seclude and private but at the same time close to the island amenities. The hotel restaurant have good food well priced and there was plenty of activities to do such as kayaking snorkel or scuba diving .... Although we were happy to just relax and enjoy the scenery! I would like to thank the staff and the owner for make our stay so special. Overall it was a wonderful experience and wished that I could have stay more time. I will definitely return!

• Reg (10/5): Beautiful resort with friendly and attentive staff - We stayed at this resort for one week. It is on the beach front with 2 private piers with lounges and hammocks. The suites are large, modern and attractively-decorated condominium-styled units. The two pools, bar, restaurant, small gym and lobby areas are inviting and spotless. Massage services are available in a new beach-front enclosed gazebo. We spent a cocktail hour beside the gas fire pit. All of the friendly staff were very accommodating. We were fortunate to be at the resort when the owner, Patsy, was there. She went out of her way to ensure that all of our needs were quickly and efficiently looked after. The resort has a highly rated restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and specializes in local fresh seafood and other tasty dishes. Walking distance to either West End or West Bay, or you can take a water taxi. Nice quiet beach front.
