- JACQUELINE (2/5): Will not return and was not value for money. - There isn’t a breakfast included although it is advertised as such on the board outside It was a Saturday night with very loud live music directly below our room up to 11.30pm.This meant that sleep was impossible.
There was a fair outside with very loud music also from 3pm until 10pm so not restful at all.
Toilet flush was inadequate.
No parking near hotel.Had to pay for a 24 hour car park.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): This was an ideal location for us to be able to get to the places we planned to visit. - The property is perfectly situated to access all the local amenities. - Julia (10/5): Excellent very friendly local pub with great rooms, good beer & nice food in a very good location. - The room was large with a nice comfy bed and everything we needed & more. Louie behind the bar was excellent. He showed us up to the room & carried our bag. The kitchen had stayed open especially for us so he took our order promptly. The homemade food was delicious (lasagna & steak pie) and generous portions but they do offer smaller portions at a reduced price. Louie was very attentive & gave us lots of local information to help us enjoy our stay. Nothing.

- rosamond (4/5): Would not recommend a stay on a Saturday night as loud music till late. Hotel otherwise comfortable - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was good. The room was warm enough. Good supply of tea and coffee The live music was extremely loud from downstairs in the bar on the Saturday night. There was further music for a short time after till after 11pm. There was a dirty spoon on the tray looked like it had been used to eat a dessert of a yoghurt

- nicola (8/5): Decent enough place to stay for our first visit to helmsley - Location is great, very central. Room was spacious and clean. Had a meal ( large filled Yorkshire pudding ) was very nice and filling. Young bar maid allowed us to take some dog biscuits for a freinds dog. ( nice touch ). One of the pains in bathroom window is broken and is just taped up.
No breakfast, but the Italian up the road was superb.
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Hiroshi (2/5): Would not rate this a three star hotel and had an uncomfortable nights’ sleep - Location. Helmsley is a lovely town.
Reasonable tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Good view of market square. Public Carpark opposite the hotel in market square. Noisy. Room was above a pub. Worn and a bit dingy. Loud music till late. Difficult to get to sleep. No breakfast. Room was cold. Radiator not working. Had to use a noisy heater. Something odd about the plumbing. Made occasional gushing noise during the light. Bedroom side lamp not working. Had to swap plugs to get it to work. Cooking smells late into the evening wafted upstairs. No breakfast facilities. No one around when I left the next morning. Just had to leave the key in the room.
- Paula (1/5): Horrendous! - Location Was like being above a nightclub until beyond midnight, and then when the music did stop, I couldn’t sleep because of the most uncomfortable bed, which slanted to one side. Woke up to the smell of someone smoking, not sure where it was coming from, but the smell came into the bedroom. The sound of the macerator toilets was annoying all night. Also the toilet also had been used before we had the room and wasn’t cleaned properly as evidence was still visible. Would never stay again; it was one of the worst nights away I have ever had. Don’t usually write reviews, but needed to say. Wouldn’t expect this in Helmsley.
- Julia (8/5): Lovely location and staff - Location was excellent
Room was large , bed was comfortable.
Evening meal was really good we had the calamari ,ribs and steak pie .
Staff were helpful and polite
Dog was welcomed Electric shower was adequate. There was a small step in and out of the shower- a handrail would have been useful as I was a little uncertain stepping in and out of the shower.
- liz (4/5): Wouldn’t return.. uncomfortable - Location Very uncomfortable creaky bed. Very noisy until midnight with loud karaoke beneath us
- Tracy (6/5): Just ok. - Spacious clean room. Friendly staff. Lovely view over the main square. Terrible matress (very noisy every time you moved!) didn't sleep well, definitely needs replacing.
Almost zero power in the shower, slight trickle of water, not good for a proper shower /hair wash.
No remote control for the TV.
- George (6/5): Satisfactory - but would we recommend? - Great location. Very friendly helpful staff. Only ate once but the evening meal was good and reasonable price. We sort of knew that there was no breakfast but the website and the signs on the wall indicate different.
The TV position in room needs changing to avoid getting a crick in the neck. Much too high.
Light over washbasin not working.
- Francesco (10/5): -
- Kathleen (7/5): Just a 2 night break which was in a lovely town - Location was very good Breakfast wasn't served at the hotel
- Mike (9/5): -
- Kelly (7/5): I enjoyed my stay on a brief work trip. - I loved the location and considering how central it is I was most impressed by how quiet the rooms were at night. I didn’t think the mattress was supportive. Also one of the side lamps and the light above the mirror in the bathroom needed new bulbs.
- Neil (10/5): Nice room in a great location. - Great location with nice rooms. A bit noisy, but you would expect this from a room above a pub.
- wells (10/5): This was the first stop on a 4 day trip around north Yorkshire. Will definitely come back - Staff very helpful
Excellent location in the heart f a beautiful village
Lots of places to visit within a short walk or drive No coffee or tea making equipment in room.
- Chris (10/5): -
- David (6/5): -
- Diane (8/5): - Very obliging nice Friendly staff kind to our little dog cosy functional room cooked us dinner even though it was quite late when we arrived
Lovely area pretty market square Shame there was no option for breakfast but good recommdations for cafes locally ,found a great dog friendly cafe round the corner , could have provided a parking permit for square outside as parking payment was required from 9am in the morning just an observation.
- Sue (6/5): Ok for a quick overnight stay - Convenient location The single beds were tiny!
- Tony (8/5): Very good - Food very good and staff very friendly Bed was a bit uncomfortable but baring that ok
- John (10/5): Walkers - The staff were extremely friendly, professional and helpful.
Food was excellent, good portions.
Room pleasant and clean.
- Sue (6/5): - Lovely room, plenty of space and nice touches It was very noisy from inside building, could here every noise would suggest ear plugs.
- Ellie (8/5): Comfortable - In the centre of town
- Chris (7/5): Good value - Location, staff, facilities Noise from other rooms ie. Footsteps, light switches, dog
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely - Lovely setting staff were welcoming and friendly Our bed was 2 singles together and although very comfortable we kept rolling into middle which isn’t a major issue just we got very warm in the room so sleep was disrupted
- david (10/5): - Friendly staff
Excellent location
Clean No breakfast on offer
- David (10/5): -
- Louise (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable - The room was clean, comfortable and great value for money in a great premium location Parking was an issue, with only 3 disabled spots outside the hotel, had to use the long stay car park despite not being that far away it was far enough away if you have mobility issues
- Ernest (10/5): - I didn't get one A breakfast good but hungry
