Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (2/5): - When we arrived the room was 85 degrees. The windows were open and the humidity was so high the bedding felt damp. Whole room smelled of mildew and was decorated with dusty and tattered junk like what you might pull out of your basement for a yard sale. The tiny window box AC unit took 2 hours to cool the room. In fairness the bathroom was nice and the screen porch in the main building had a lovely view of a waterfall. However, the screen porch is also filled with dusty junk, and smells of mildew. Breakfast was waffles, pastries, and fruit. It was actually pretty good, but my stomach was in knots because the lady that runs it was so mean to us at check in I was actively avoiding her whenever possible. We were the only guests and I can see why. Would not stay there again if they paid me. It’s sad, because the location is nice, but it’s badly mismanaged. Avoid if possible.
- Chelsea (10/5): - We loved that this is a hidden gem in the mountains! The waterfall is mesmerizing! Linda and Mike prepared delicious breakfasts for us using locally sourced ingredients. This is a very peaceful retreat, and I would highly recommend it as a getaway!!
- Robert (10/5): - Very good from start to finish!
- Kim M. (6/5): Liven in the ruff - It is rustic. Wild natural plants in landscaping. Nice to listen to waterfall near breakfast room where you're out of the hot sun. Beds and air conditioning are not the best but doable. I have a service dog, so we were placed in a room that is older. Breakfast was very good. They grind their own flour from their old mill. Also, make natural soaps.
- Jay (6/5): - The inn is nestled next to a creek that descends precipitously and forcefully over and through large boulders, which creates a delightful setting for the facility. The first impression though is that the property needs sprucing up. Exterior is moldy and dingy and the common area that greeted us is musty and hot because there is no ac in that area. All interior trim, at least, needs cleaning and paint. That being painfully said however, we genuinely
liked Mike and Linda and appreciate their love for our earth, and understand their choices for no ac, which is probably not needed most of the year, and minimalism as culture screams for us to consume more and discard and fill the earth with plastic landfills and all the other waste, I see them as pushing back against the culture and value that integrity. The breakfast was amazing, Johnny cakes made from corn harvested in the valley and milled at Sylvan Mill, delicious scones, and sausage. Mike is a wonderful chef and Linda is a very attentive host with a true servant's heart. The coffee could have been hotter though. We brought home some grits they milled from corn there in the valley and they are wonderful! Overall, we enjoyed our stay, especially our conversation with these nice people!!
- Timothy (10/5): - I facilities and owners were top shelf.
- Jeff (10/5): Our trip to Sylvan Falls Bed and Breakfast - Amazing property. Quiet. Beautiful falls next to the Bed and Breakfast. Fine and tasty breakfast. Very special place.
- Cheryl (10/5): - The owners was amazing and the place was so amazing. We wiil be back
- Les (10/5): - Set next to a beautiful waterfall that powers the mill. Lots of hiking and walking opportunities in the area. A wonderful breakfast was included the next morning. We thuroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed another night.
- Jennifer (10/5): - One of the most unique properties we have ever stayed at. Breakfast was amazing. The owner's were very attentive, friendly and accommodating. We will return to Linda and Mike's B & B. Sylvan Falls actually runs next to the house and powers the mill that grinds a variety of products. FABULOUS!!
- Anje (10/5): - It is a still working mill and together Mike and Linda team up to provide excellent and healthy food using the mill as well and old cook books.
Dinner was fabulous and breakfast was a surprise each time.
The house is old obviously, but is kept very clean.
We even got clean towels daily!
We certainly recommend to have a romantic dinner on the day of arrival sitting at the porch overlooking the waterfall!
- Esther (10/5): - Room next to waterfall amazing and yummy breakfast!
- Brian (10/5): - What a great place to stay and relax. Linda and Mike are great host. Very quit and relaxing. The waterfall with its rushing water was so relaxing and calming. Will definitely visit again.
- Michael (10/5): - Great B&B
- Steve (10/5): - The property consists of a water fall powered mill dating from the early 19th century. As an historic building, it is old, but well maintained. If you are looking for a modern place to stay with a lot of amenities on site, this place is not for you. If, however, you enjoy living history, in a quiet mountain surrounding, run by friendly, welcoming people, this IS your place. The breakfasts were amazing and I really loved the waterfall and surrounding area. I will come here again.
- Matthew (10/5): - My wife and I LOVED this B&B!
The waterfall and mill were absolutely old world beautiful.
Linda and Mike were gracious hosts and so personable!
Breakfast was spectacular!
We will be back!

- Patricia (10/5): - This B&B is perfect!!
- Briann (10/5): - This property was amazing and beautiful! Mike and Linda go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and right at home. The food was amazing! Mike and Linda make everything homemade with all the freshest food from local farmers as well as the corn, grains, and flour they personally grind themselves and the mill that is still in operation! If you’re looking for a quite peaceful place to just get away from it all as well as tranquility and beauty this is definitely the place to go!!
- Jeanie (10/5): - So beautiful and relaxing

Linda was very accommodating with our need for a pet friendly room. She was welcoming and went out of her way to see to our comfort. A delicious breakfast was served in the dining room with the beautiful falls in the background. Definitely a 10 out of 10!

I would stay here again and I recommend to others. Rabun Gap, Dillard, Sky Valley and the surrounding areas of GA & NC are beautiful places to explore.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Waterfall within 50 ft of breakfast room. Absolutely wonderful.
- Jeff (10/5): - Lovely, unique B & B. Mike and Linda were great hosts. They were so welcoming and made you feel right at home. So many extras such as the beer and wine were a pleasant surprise! Loved the breakfast with so many homemade extras. Loved the cantaloupe, chocolate scones and blueberry pancakes!
- Donna (10/5): - Lovely property and owners. Will be back next year!
- Jack (10/5): Understated Relaxation! - Great nature setting 😊Linda and Mike are outstanding hosts, making you right at home!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful, pet-friendly property! We had a wonderful breakfast by a beautiful waterfall! The owner was friendly and welcomed us right away. The room was huge, with a beautiful bathroom. There was no TV, but we were fine with that. This overnight stop became a special memory!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The waterfalls was so beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast and wine in the evening
- Dan (10/5): Waterfall right outside the window! - Mike and Linda welcomed us into their home B&B and took excellent care of us. They were the perfect hosts and pampered us with a unique breakfast out by the waterfall. It was magnificent ! I would recommend this quaint little inn to people looking for a quiet, nostalgic inn with great views!! PS... My husband was disappointed that there was no TV but it was fine with me... internet is available so bring your tablet if you need to connect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Waking up to the water fall was amazing! The falls were right out our window.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great B&B, beautiful waterfall, very cozy overall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sylvan Falls Mills has a beautiful setting, with a waterfall immediately adjacent to the breakfast area. The hosts, Mike and Linda, are extremely gracious and friendly. They go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. The rooms are reflective of its history, with whitewashed boards, antique furniture, and the gathering rooms have wood- burning stoves for heat. Do not expect a TV; there is not one to be found. Breakfast was excellent; Linda uses the wheat produced at their working mill in the baked goods at breakfast. We had a great stay, and will definitely consider a return visit next time we visit Rabin County.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Mike and Linda are wonderful hosts! The sound of the waterfall was the best white noise for sleeping!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We've stayed in many B&Bs, but never one that is an operating grist mill. The owners/operators were very willing to answer questions not only about the history of the place, but how to grind corn and other products. The breakfast was unbelievable--couldn't finish it all.
- Janice L (10/5): - Amazing!! Linda and Mike are wonderful hosts!! Loved our stay and will visit them again!!
- Dan (10/5): Sylvan Falls Mill B & B - First stay at a B & B... Wonderful time with wonderful hosts. No TV to intrude upon a relaxing experience... A historic Mill situated right beside a rushing waterfall.. The breakfast was all natural, coming from the Mill or local farmers.
Mike and Linda, the owners & hosts were friendly & engaging. Just a great visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super cool - Waterfall right by the place, had a wonderful breakfast too
- Lynn (8/5): Wonderful breakfast right beside a lovely waterfal - Cozy place with an amazing breakfast
- Kristen (10/5): - Perfect little bed and breakfast nestled in the woods next to an amazing waterfall. Hosts are amazing and rooms were very comfortable.
Expedia on the other hand was less than stellar to deal with. I specifically asked (twice actually) to MAKE SURE we could have two pets with us. Not all their rooms are pet friendly and luckily we were booked in one, but I would have held Expedia accountable had they not had this specific room available. I would have rather booked through the B and B but the Expedia people didn’t want me to and were pushy.
- Joseph (10/5): Piece of heaven in Georgia - My wife and I had a fantastic time during our stay here! The food was outstanding and the ambience was exactly what we were looking for! Each morning we ate on the porch right next to a beautiful waterfall. This place felt like heaven! Mike and Linda were awesome and we cannot wait to come back and stay here again!
- Kay (10/5): - It was a nice secluded quaint place. No tv which was great. My husband and played games and had the best time. Sometimes tv is over rated.
- Dean (6/5): - The place is ok, there was poor lightning in the bathroom and the landscape needs to be cleaned up, we were also disappointed that there was no tv in the room.
- Ronnie (10/5): Vitelli family rafting trip - Our stay was memorable to say the least. The staff were actually more than accommodating as they helped walk our dogs while we went whitewater rafting which was over and beyond the call of duty. My kids and I were so very pleased that they both volunteered to do this for us. The fact they were generous enough to do this small favor for us MADE OUR TRIP! Did I mention the food was OFF THE CHAIN EXCELLENT! We are definitely going back, in fact my daughter asked if we could make going to their B&B an annual trip!
