Guest Reviews
- Philip (2/5): - There was no availability!
- Kevin (6/5): Worked for our needs - The location was close to things but in a lower-end area. I’d recommend walking from the poissoniers station.
There was hair on the floor and the towels provided were damp on arrival. The shower head leaked. But the price was cheap for a last-minute reservation so it worked for our needs
- Luis Fabiano (8/5): Good hotel for the price - Hotel was okay. Bed was comfortable.
- Sergey (8/5): - The hotel itself was really nice, the staff was great and the room was good! However the area was a little sketchy, then again I travelled alone so I was a bit more cautious about this stuff. My stay at the hotel was good though:)
- Karen (2/5): - Horrible stay, dangerous location, says adults only yet when I booked it allowed me and my son. Didn't feel safe and pushed one of our beds against the wall
- Daniel (8/5): - Really good budget hotel!
- Chloe (6/5): - Very small shower and the dryer didn’t work at all, it was just a place to rest your head at night. I understand there’s no A/C but housekeeping unplugged the fan everyday so I always came back to a sweltering hot room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible - Room was dirty, bed was bend in so we rolled in to the middle of the bed all the time. there was black mold in the bathroom and bed. toilet seat was broken. it smelled horrible. The doors was not able to close unless you locked them from inside. The place was not soundproof could hear when others went on the stairs.
- Mariah (8/5): Accessible - Overall for an inexpensive price this hotel worked for me. It was close to both the metro and the train station.
- Andres (8/5): - Place was ok, but location is not great.
- JESUS (2/5): - I was there with my family and the hotel not has. Elevator and the stairs is so small, i travel with 6 lugagge and book 2 rooms, the rooms was assigned in diferent floors 3 and 4 fllor imaging going up 4 fllors with 6 luggage, inmediatilly i cancel reservation and book other hotel with better conditions and elevator , the hotel refused refund sue to policy and stupid thing, i not recomended this hotel due to no meet requirements , only to clarified the front desk work good with us and ask for taxi and help wirh luggage in order ro move ro othert hotel
- Verified traveler (4/5): Two star is two star - NO ELEVATOR. 30 STEPS. ROUGH FOR OLDER PEOPLE. Black mold in the bathroom. But otherwise clean
Located in Little Africa.
It was interesting and safe. Desk clerks were quite nice and helpful
- Joe (4/5): Interesting - Class 2 hotel. A walk to public transit. Located in Little Africa.
- Morice (2/5): - 1. Check-in : may booking was pre paid and the man into the front desk asked me more for taxes and caution ( around 60 € more !!...)
2. No electricity in the bedroom the second day (!)
On adore !
- Norbert (2/5): - It was the worst and dirtiest hotel I've ever seen.
The pictures online are all fake.
- Raya (2/5): - The room was very cold there was no extra blanket and the blanket itself was really thin and even we turned on the heater. It was also cold. The bathroom was dirty the shower especially and there is no hand soap
- PUI YAN (6/5): - some one is talking and pulling the luaggage at 2am mid night and keep talking. the room is old fashion and tiny. Nothing to complain for this price.
- Mathilde (10/5): Super - Superbe accueil.
- Pauli (8/5): - The place could be better with some small fixes.
Our room smelled pretty bad (kinda moldy) every time we got there, but it was solved by closing the bathroom door and opening the window for a while. Everything was a bit worn, but on the other hand the bed was really good. The staircase up to the room was narrow and kinda steep.
We didn't have much contact with the staff, but when we did they were polite and helpful.
The area was a little bit intimidating by night.
- riaz (8/5): - Nice & basic hotel that fully met my needs as i wasn't looking for anything fancy
Great location by Gare du Nord so a lot of transport options for getting around Paris
Bruyant. En un mot : sordide.
- George (2/5): - It is the worst hotel ever. Very dirty and archaic. The cats are in the reception and the whole hotel is terrible
- Verified traveler (4/5): Une fois mais pas 2... Never again !
- Viivi (6/5): Worth of two stars - The room was decent, not very clean or neat. The bed’s leg was crooked and the door’s lock was very loose, and the door knob almost dropped off. We didn’t spend time in the room a lot, only came back to sleep for the nights.
We didn’t get the breakfast there so can’t say anything about it though. The staff were friendly when we saw them during arrival and departure. Wouldn’t come back but the room served it purpose - the bed was alright despite the crooked leg. There was no air-con but thankfully the weather was rainy so the room didn’t get too hot. There is four floors and no lift, so if you cannot climb the stairs, you should not stay at this hotel.
Overall we didn’t mind the stay, this hotel is for you if you don’t look for anything fancy and only need a bed for the night’s sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hotel without elevator and dark - No elevator how can you carry on your baggage to the 4th floor?? dark and Tight Staircases, uncomfortable neighbourhoods (noisy all times), check-out at 11:30 exactly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Absoluut slecht - Het is absoluut niet schoon. Hangt allemaal tuig voor t hotel savonds. Vond t het absoluut niet waard. Het is mega gehorig. De kamer is mega klein. Ik vond het echt niks.
- Alice (6/5): - One of the more depressing hotels I've stayed in in Paris. Really basic room, with some attempts at renovation but there was a terrible odour from the bathroom, the walls were paper-thin (I could hear every conversation and snoring from my neighbour), and I felt a little unsafe at night. However it did seem clean, and the staff were friendly enough, so for one night it was acceptable.
- Richard (8/5): - The decoration of the room wasn't finished properly. The painting could be better.
The breakfast was OK but not substantial.
The stay wasn’t bad but could be better.
- Mohan Babu (2/5): - Rude Staff, I was discriminated when I asked about my room at 4th floor with no Elevator, heater not working all night etc..
- Helen (4/5): - Room was okay but tatty, impossible to have a shower without flooding the bathroom. Hotel didn't feel particularly welcoming or safe.
- Aurea (8/5): - We like the staff - friendly , helpful and pleasant .
The room we were -the door handle is wobbly as well as the window . Concern for safety . The bathroom easily floods .
- MAMADOU RAMADAN (10/5): - UN JOUR JE VIENDARIS A CETTE hébergement*
- Gunn Marit (8/5): - Enkelt pensjonat. Ingen luxus, men helt greit. Hyggelige folk. Vi hadde det helt fint. Spiste ikke på pensjonatet.
- Nishat (4/5): - The room itself was fine, bit weirdly dirty though. The hotel is tiny so the stairs goin up is really weird and wobbly and tiny and the area is really dangerous and scary for women to stay in.
The area around prevented me from wearing any type of dress or skirt as id get all the unwanted attention
But I will say that the people working there are kind, it's just a bit of a hole and very ugly
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad service - I called to ask of we can come a bit earlier or just leave our bags while we tour in Paris. They said the toilet of the room was broken so its either they cancel or get us to another hotel and we dont need to pay anything else but we still need to go to the hotel to pay the city tax. Despite the inconvenience we went there to settle just the tax of £1.96. We walked to the hotel for quite a distance only to be walking another 15-20 minute walk to another hotel. They did not even walk us to the hotel and just gave us a Map. They also dont have a courtesy bus/car to bring us to the next hotel. They said this hotel is just 2min from Gare du Nord which was my preference but not true at all. Anyhow, Apparently when checking my account today, I was debited with another hefty £86.60! Have not contacted the hotel yet as I have to purchase extra for outside UK calls, will have to talk to hotels.com yet. My goodness this was a terrible experience! So much invonvenience they have caused us!
- Brahim (2/5): - I don't recommend it's dirty mum
- Christoffer (8/5): - Room is basic and does the job. Bathroom ceiling had some mildew on it but otherwise it was very clean overall. Location is in the African district/area, so it will be a bit different for those who are expecting textbook paris. Had no issue or concerns with safety, would say it’s like any large city - use your brain.
- Abimbola (10/5): - The hotel is neat, the lady that did the Morning/ afternoon shift was very nice, friendly and very helpful. The man on the night shift was not willing to provide any help. But generally it was a nice experience. I will book the hotel again and again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very disappointing - cannot ne called a hotel - My stay at Hotel du Globe was very disappointing.
The room was ok in terms of amenities, however the bed mattress was not comfortable at all and the room was not clean (hair on the pillows and dust everywhere in the room).
The worst part was the service and the staff. There was a very noisy room next to us and the staff did not do anything about it, they eventually told us to « tap/knock on the wall ». In general, the staff was not accommodating and very rude.
- Stephen (2/5): Bunch of idiots - You have got to be kidding! I was trying to book a room in North Carolina! The website placed me in a room in Europe! What is wrong with this company? There was no way to contact or fix the booking.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There is a heating in the room which is blocked and the room was very cold. And you’re provided with a simmer blanket
- Hamid (10/5): Excellent - Only breakfast was a bit light but everything else was fine
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was a worrying mostly for family
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pros. Friendly stuff. Very cheap neighborhood. Close to basilica.
Cons. Super small room. No air conditioning. Leaking shower. And extremely dangerous district.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The reviews of this place really undersell the neighbourhood for two reason. 1. It is only close to the Monmarte and otherwise transit is thirty minutes get to the other “big sites”. This is not a big deal if you are on budget or want to avoid the big tourist traps of Paris. 2. I do call some racial components here in my honest opinion. The 18th arrondissement is a “non white” community, bustling with halal cafes and African street markets. If being the only white skinned American in an area bothers you then check in somewhere else. Now honestly speaking, I am a 23 yr old female with my partner we stayed here and moved via transit and walking in this community at all hours of the days. Out at 6am 1am and all throughout the afternoon. The people do not bother, follow, or speak to you and if you know where you’re going the trains are very close by. Paris in general feels like the city to keep an eye on your things. I felt this in every metro and every district. The hotel is quite at night, the staff are welcoming and allowed us to use umbrellas and the male night staff made me a cup of tea free of charge when I requested a drink.
Yes. This is no five star hotel, and has modest furnishings and some quirks of its own, yes it feels like you’ve stepped away from Parisian France, but this does not compromise the trip if you want an off the beaten track experience in Paris.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do NOT stay in this area - The area is dangerous. The hotel corner is used by multiple drug dealers and pimps.
If the hotel was priced below €50/night you could stay there if you had to but it’s €150/night which made us think it was in a better place. I cannot overstate how dangerous this neighborhood is. Do not go outside after dark!
The breakfast is ok. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are ok although we lacked sheets the first night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - While the room was a bit small, we still loved and would recommend Hotel du Globe 18! The staff was lovely and it was in a very walkable area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - If you are looking for something closer to Gard Du Nord, this place is good, economical place to stay. Very close even if you take a taxi - maximum 10 euros. Some of the taxi drivers from the station to hotel will try to rip you off by asking 40 euros (lol). From metro, it is 3 stops away! A lot of Halal food places around. Line 4 and 12 (around 5 minute walk) near the hotel.
The two (ladies) receptionists during the day time are extremely helpful. They make sure they answer to you all questions. Pretty good guide too, if you travelling first time to Paris. Very polite and ready to help! The manager is pretty good too. He will try to help you as he he can.
However, if you are planning to leave early in the morning around 5 am or after 8 pm, you will meet this reception (male) who is just NOT THE GUY you like to talk too! He was so uncomfortable as we woke him up when checking our early in the morning around 530 am as our train was early enough! Even when we complain about room heating, he was like I am not a TECHNICIAN to fix this problem.
Just because of above person, I won't say this is not a place to go. Everything is good apart from above receptionist (at night hours), I will definitely staying there (as commutable, affordable for few nights and cooperative staff during the day time).
- Verified traveler (8/5): It was very nice and calm but I had insects bites - I had insects bites on the second day on my harms, body and face.
- Jonathan (10/5): Bonne Journée 😊 - My stay at the Hotel Du Globe was for two nights it was very nice.
The room was clean shower good hot water tv which was on the first floor.
The staff are friendly spoke English as I only speak a little French.
Breakfast was good.
Location was good.
Overall a very pleasant stay.
Merci Bien.
Jon
- Verified traveler (10/5): close to gare du Nord good base for exploring - Unfortunately I had to return early but I will return soon.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't Do It - Poor service and not at all a "good" rated hotel. Area is not a safe zone.
- J (4/5): Ok Hotel, Bad Neighbourhood - The hotel itself and rooms are ok. We had a problem with our room on the first night, it was dirty (you could feel that it was dirty), itching after sleeping on bed, I don't think it's bed bugs but maybe dust mites. I am not sensitive to this and even I was feeling the itch. The shower was a bit clogged and water was taking a long time to drain out, this was absolutely disgusting and my wife almost had a breakdown. The closet had a female underwear in it (from the previous guest i assume). No AC in room which is not a problem, if only the streets didn't smell like urine, the windows could have been opened.
So we changed rooms and the second room was a bit more like the photos and description. It was much more comfortable. but maybe still itchy - or this was in our minds now.
The staff are super nice and accommodating.
After reading the reviews, I thought the neigbourhood was being exaggerated, but in reality, it is a bit rough, sketchy, and dirty (urine everywhere) and characters hanging around all the time. I didn't feel threatened just dirty as opposed to the other charming side of montmartre which i remember and am so fond of (where sacre coeur is). This is not that side.
fairly close to metro and sacre coeur but have to pass through a 5 minute garbage slum to get to it. WE absolutely could not believe this was paris.
