Une découverte ! - Un charme un peu suranné, une vue splendide, un hôtel chargé d’histoire et situé dans une petite station balnéaire à l’ancienne, dans un village vivant et un environnement naturel préservé. La piscine était en cours de remplissage et nous n’avons donc pas pu en profiter mais il faisait encore frais. Il n’est pas possible d’arriver tard.

• Faisal (10/5): Un hotel emblemático en primera línea de playa - La ubicación, las vistas al mar (en primera línea de playa, la comodidad de la cama y la amabilidad de Beatriz y del propietario, que además nos dedico su tiempo para contarnos la historia del hotel de los ilustres y famosos clientes que han dejado su huella allí. Por último y más importante es un lugar que admite mascotas!!! Es un hotel antiguo y cualquiera podría quejarse de algunos detalles a mejorar pero no seré yo quien lo haga.

• Anthony (1/5): Not recommended. - The public facilities on the ground floor looked really nice. The place has history as a film location . The room with sea view we booked was a suite with private outside terraces. There were steps everywhere. Not good if you're older. A total refurbishment is necessary to repair broken handles and redecorate, inside and out. The bed was like a rock. The location is a long way from everywhere, coffee shops, restaurants, town centre. Breakfast was advertised, but we were told after check-in that no food was available. Neither was the restaurant open. We didn't stay.

• Emma (10/5): It’s quaint and that’s unusual in most hotels today - which are usually modern and largely without character - El Dorado - El Dorado has a charm that goes back to the elegant days of the 50’s//60’s - there’s a great film history with original artefacts from famous films, used for the decor in the hotel and you can imagine the ‘greats’ staying there, back in the day. The setting is right on the beach and the walk along the promenade is wonderful, great restaurants and cafes - Carboneras is a hidden little gem, very Spanish - the area where the hotel is situated, has the most amazing art deco buildings - it’s really beautiful. I love it. I might say it’s a little tired but this doesn’t detract from its charm - I’m going back definitely.
• William (8/5): Really loved it. Will definitely return. - Location of the hotel was amazing. The views from our room were exceptional. The hotel is very quirky and quite old with lots of interesting memorabilia. Our room was huge with separate living room and three outside private areas. Access to the beach took literally less than a minute. Lovely swimming pool right outside our room. The hotel salon is absolutely charming, probably not changed since it was built. Staff were very friendly and made us feel so welcome with our huge dog. It’s not really a big criticism but could probably benefit from a bit of a cosmetic update but would not want it to lose its authentic charm.
• Nadejda (10/5): Unique and beautiful hotel - It’s a real gem! We absolutely loved it for its unique character and wonderful customer service. The secluded beach with a gorgeous view, the spacious room, the beautiful terrace with a lovely swimming pool - everything was just right. The lovely receptionist made us feel very welcome and was really helpful. There’s a supermarket just a few minutes away and the town centre is a short walk away from the hotel. Couldn’t recommend it more!

• FRANCISCO (1/5): Muy decepcionante - La ubicación, la piscina y el trato de dos chicas que trabajan en recepción, Eva es el nombre de una de ellas. No funciona el aire acondicionado, tuvieron que cambiarnos de habitación. Las paredes tenían humedades. Las puertas estaban rotas, con muchos desperfectos. Había mal olor en la habitación y dentro del armario. No hay ascensor, aire acondicionado en las zonas comunes ni recepción 24h. La cesta de la ducha estaba completamente oxidada. En el cajón había un paquete de tabaco, quiere decir que no hacen limpieza a fondo. En la segunda habitación los bajos de las cortinas de la ducha estaban amarillentos, el espejo manchado y el de aumento roto. En uno de los cajones de la mesita de noche había uñas. En este caso el aire acondicionado funciona pero pierde agua, dejando un charco en el suelo.

• Dan and Terry (7/5): Interesting historical hotel with fantastic location! - This was a really neat stop for us. The property was extremely quiet with little business as we came during the shoulder season. Pool was drained and restaurant/bar was closed. However the amazing location was super impressive. Easy walkability to eateries and some activity. The best part was learning of the history of the hotel as it was built for actors in the filming of Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zivago and more. The front desk clerk was very nice and showed us around and how certain furnishings were used in the film sets. Loved! There is a neat little beach bar with delish breakfast and fun vibe just a short walk away too! Hotel showing some maintenance neglect, but such reasonable pricing, history and super location made up for it.
• Christian (7/5): Gerne wieder für einen Kurzaufenthalt - Das Hotel ist schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen, was man schon merkt, aber für 1 Nacht nicht entscheidend. Tolle Lage am Meer. Frühstücksrestaurant schon geschlossen gewesen. Ein wenig Renovierung wäre schon angebracht ... aber nur für einen längeren Urlaub wirklich wichtig.

• Blanca (6/5): Agradable - La situación del Hotel es mágica,en plena arena de la playa. Escuchar las olas del mar mientras duermes es único no es fácil en cualquier hotel. Hay un salón grande dentro del Hotel súper acogedor para estar un rato con los amigos,con una decoración espectacular y unos sofás super cómodos. Las habitaciones en general están anticuadas y no les vendría mal una reforma,sobre todo de los baños y ventanas.

La habitación era amplia, tenía nevera cosa importante en verano, y nos falicitaron albornoces y muchas toallas para toda nuestra estancia. El personal era muy amable y nos invitaron a dos cervezas. Además nos dieron recomendaciones de donde ir y donde comer. Si volviera a Cabo de Gata, probablemente me quedaría en el mismo hotel Al alojamiento le hace falta bastante mantenimiento, renovación de algunos muebles de las habitaciones y pintura. Con pequeños cambios no muy costosos se conseguiría que el hotel fuera muchísimo mejor

Swimming pool was empty, possibly due to timing but the area around pool was in need of remedial work.

Son unos tiquismikiis .VOVERE MUY PRONTO - El acceso que tiene a la playa , el amanecer el desayuno la cama todo .. el hombre muy amable el desayuno super bien , la camarera del buffet super amable también . Volveremos muy muy pronto No es por no gustar .. porque está todo muy bien es un hotel antiguo pero tiene su encanto , hemos estado en dos habitaciones y las dos estaban muy bien !! Con camas supletorias super cómodas tele aire ...

• Hrönn (10/5): The surroundings are truly unique - I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It's located in a peaceful spot right by the beach, which made for a relaxing atmosphere. While the hotel itself isn't modern, it has a lot of charm and character. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I was traveling alone, but I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay and truly enjoyed every moment. The breakfast was simple, but I later learned that this is quite typical in Spain. Despite that, I never left the table feeling hungry. The coffee, on the other hand, was excellent!
