Guest Reviews
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Patricia (6/5): A one night only for me - Clean and comfortable bed and pillow As I walked in the room the awful smell of the room hit me but after a few hours of leaving the door open the smell either disappeared or so got used to it! Our neighbours were loud and left their TV on all night, I could hear every word then left their loud yappy dog in the room after they had gone somewhere. The room had had a makeover but that makeover was very basic. The bathroom exhaust fan rattled loudly.
- Cassandra (10/5): Exceptional! - Great staff. Great location . very clean. Very professional I can’t say enough good things about this place. I choose to stay here every time I come to town.
- Courier (9/5): Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was decent for the price. - Clean, quiet semi updated room. Comfy bed Rub and shower way outdated.
- Danyelle (10/5): Nice local motel - Clean comfortable room. Well maintained outside. Friendly staff. NA
- Brion (8/5): Just stayed one night but found the owner/manager extremely pleasant and helpful and room was clean - Had to leave early due to weather issues at home and the owner/operator was extremely helpful in getting reservations canceled. Couldnt figure out how to operate the heat unit.
- Teresa (10/5): Economy Inn is a clean, close, and friendly place to stay. - The staff was great. I felt safe. It’s a busy place and I felt very comfortable Everything was handled very professionally. Better than staying with friends.
- tammy (5/5): Thanks - Missed All was fine
- Jodie (7/5): -

- Cassandra (10/5): Wonderful - I cannot say enough good things about this place. I traveled from Virginia to see family. I normally stay at a Hilton but this was better. Very clean very comfortable. It was almost like my own private little cottage. I would highly recommend staying here.
- Kathy (6/5): - Room was clean. No outlet in the bathroom.
It snowed 11.5 inches while we were there. They did not make snow removal of the very small parking lot a priority.
- James (8/5): It was a very good place to stay. - The room being clean. The heating system. Below the heating system it was cool.
- Andrea (8/5): -
- Richard (4/5): - This motel is in shabby condition. I was awakened by voices next door at 3 a.m., and they were still going at 6 a.m. The shower head was good, but the tub slippery with no mat, bath treads, or grab bars, making it a bit treacherous. Bed was OK but sheets and towels were low quality. No hair dryer. Additional fee charged for using credit card. I wouldn't stay here again.
- Margaret (6/5): It is nice and clean and comfortable. Nothing more and nothing less. we stay once a year -
- Dennis (8/5): Good for a short stay - This is an older property, a motel with each room having an outside door to the parking lot. It is very dated in style and in need of some maintenance. On the other hand, there have been some updates, notably plenty of outlets to recharge electronic devices.
We found the room to be very clean, and were pleasantly surprised to discover housekeeping had refreshed the room before our second night.
The AC was noisy as I expected from a single room unit, but worked well and allowed the fan to stay on where it became white noise instead of cycling on and off every few minutes.
I would not recommend this place for an extended stay, but it worked well for us as a place to sleep while attending a weekend event in the area.
- Eileen (10/5): - Friendly staff and had everything I needed. Clean and comfortable room. Will stay here again.
- Adam (10/5): - The tub needs more anti-slip strips. Currently slippery.
- John (10/5): - We liked the fact that the current owner in sprucing up the place with new flooring and furniture. Our stay was comfortable and very affordable. Nothing.
- Jenn (10/5): -
- STEVEN (10/5): - A fantastic hotel for what you're paying for. It's a clean room, comfortable bed, microwave and fridge, in-room coffee, your parking is next to your room and very friendly staff. For $100 a night, it is the ONLY option in Taylorville. I wish they had more rooms, because they are often sold out on nights I need a place!
- Todd (10/5): - Recently remodeled, clean, and they adjusted my checkout time to accommodate my midnight working hour schedule to keep me from being charged for another to sleep feom 7:20 - 10 am checkout tme...🚗
- Verified traveler (4/5): 3 day stay - Stayed 3 days, was overcharged, had a notice that we could not have guest. One day we had no water and no notification that it would be out. Only 1 desk chair to sit on.
- James (8/5): - After we got by my mistake with scheduling it went fine and I apologize again.
- Joanne (6/5): - The first thing that we saw when we opened our room door was cockroaches.
- Brian (7/5): It a good place to stay — I had no problems close to everything - Quiet-clean -hot shower — friendly staff It was ok just parking was tight
- Gerald (10/5): - Great owners, great staff, great rates and super clean rooms!
- Andrea (7/5): Good -
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dannette (4/5): - Very old and over priced. Friendly staff. But that’s all it has going for it
- Adrienne (8/5): It's ok - It's nothing fancy but it was clean and serves our purposes. We reqlly just needed clean beds and a shower. It was quiet at night. No problems.
- Gary (8/5): wedding - very clean rooms. only has one chair. no other place to sit but the bed. nice people to check in, but no one to check out with so we could tell them the toilet leaks and runs all night long. Looks like they are fixing the place up so hopefully they fix them for the next person.
- Rodney (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): - Really great place. Super clean and friendly.
- Philip (8/5): - It was very clean motel for a smaller town and the staff were super friendly
- Karen (7/5): Price is right for a stay in Taylorville - People were very nice. Room was very clean. Place was a nice little gem in small town Taylorville. Price was fantastic, and the bed was comfortable. Didn't use the shower or fridge or microwave. In town for a wedding and then left early. She had just cleaned the room so there was a VERY strong smell of chemicals. Better than a very bad strong smell. Once we returned from the wedding the room was fine. TV was great and I was happy they had Direct TV
- Lori (10/5): - Everytime we stay here, we see new improvement. They are always welcoming and friendly. We will be back.
- Mark (7/5): 29 West was a good name. Economy is a anodyne, bland name.. - I like the simplicity and comfort. It is homey. People in the room next to me were there my whole 4-day stay. Looks as though they live there full time. They had loud kids playing outside my window at 9:00 PM, and the kids were yelling and bouncing off the walls until midnight. Staff could have asked them to be more quiet.
- Ken (3/5): Poor - The only thing I like about this property was the shower head. The shower itself was disgusting, but the head provided nice pressure. Everything. Towels were old thin and dirty looking. Bed pillows were thin and uncomfortable and the entire room could have been much cleaner. Very over priced for the quality of the property.
- Guzzaldo (8/5): Very good -
- Niko (10/5): - Close by to everything I needed
- Jeff (10/5): - They did a great job remodeling the hotel.
- Laurette (10/5): - .
- James (10/5): - Clean with basic amenities. Pleasant checkin person
- STEVEN (8/5): - I stay here often. It's about the best hotel in Taylorville IL. The property is old, and the rooms are dated, but, the owners keept things very clean and smelling nice. Comfortable bed, bathroom is functional, coffee maker, refridgerator, wifi and cable tv all worked well.
- Lesa (10/5): - Very clean!! Very comfortable!! Staff friendly and helpful!! Will definitely stay there again!!
- Stacie (8/5): - It was very convenient. The workers were nice and courteous.
- Marie (8/5): - Have stayed at this motel a number of times when visiting relatives in the area. Very clean, comfortable and cost efficient.
- Danyelle (10/5): Just the basics but done well - Quiet clean and comfortable Nothing
- Collette (10/5): Love this place - They are the sweetest people and we stay here when in town because it’s like home away from home. It’s very peaceful and quiet at night. If they served a continental breakfast.
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional - We got a great room for a family - it had 3 beds which was amazing. A larger-size room gave more space for our group of 4. Bathroom was in excellent condition and heat/air conditioning was modern and easy to control.
- Darlene (10/5): Wonderful place to stay! We will definitely stay there agsin! - Clean, quiet, friendly and comfy Our room didn’t have plug in by our beds
- Simington (8/5): Very good - The gentleman was very friendly. Our television didn’t come in and it read to contact office for help. In which we did serval times but no answer. The have air fresheners that were extremely strong.
- Huff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Morgan (9/5): Superb -
- Lucinda (6/5): - We have stayed at the Economy Inn a few times and always book the same room. Unfortunately, during this stay the room was not available due to a maintenance issue. The room we stayed in was a much bigger room, three double beds, which was fine, but it could use a little maintenance itself. The carpet was very stained and dirty and turned the bottom of our socks black. The microwave did not work and the shower head was in need of replacement. The bathroom was clean and the heat worked great and offered a nice warm room for our stay. Overall I give it three stars.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Very satisfactory. Staff excellent. Room and beds clean and comfortable. Only issue was very minor: there was only one coffee cup.☕️everything was fine.
- James L (10/5): comfortable - The room was clean and comfortable.
The staff was friendly and quick to help when I had trouble with the key card door entry.
- Rebecca (10/5): Extremely clean - It was an excellent stay.
- Greg (8/5): - We heeded a place to lay our heads along a specific route adhering to a tight schedule with a later-than-usual arrival time and departure before dawn. Many might have overlooked the Economy Inn, but the reviews were really good, so I took a chance and booked it.
Arriving around 9:45 p.m., we checked in and immediately upon entering our room, my wife gave the room her “once-over”. Her response was, “It’s clean”.
The room was very adequately furnished and suited our needs for a few hours of sleep. When we need the same thing in that neck of the woods again, we already know where we’ll stay compared to higher priced lodging.
- Rita (6/5): - We’ve stayed here on two occasions and will stay again.
- Michael (6/5): comfortable. a tv directory would have been nice - Location good, room clean, great bed nice hot water. bathroom needed updating.
- Doug (8/5): - Nothing fancy just clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water.
- Becky (10/5): - Great value @
- Melissa (6/5): - It’s a decent place to stay. Been there several times visiting family. It’s older but does the job. However this last trip the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable. Other rooms there have much better mattresses. I know they are updating. Maybe they will get new mattresses for that room
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Mary Ann (10/5): - Easy check-in and friendly staff.
- Tony (7/5): Good - Value, staff was friendly. Key to door did not work but staff let us in. Older motel had been updated and was clean
- Anonymous (2/5): Very poor -
- Katharine (5/5): Disappointing - Staff was very friendly. Close to restaurants. The rooms are very worn out on the inside. The a/c was a challenge and didn't seem to keep running in the night. Beds and pillows were hard. Linens could benefit from some extra bleach. I wanted to like this place, but we won't return there. The outside looked really nice. Perhaps some of the funds they used to buy that Tesla seen charging at check out would have been better used to improve these shortcomings.
- Sandra (9/5): Our stay was quiet comfortable. My grand daughter had a fun time running around the toom - The location was easy to access The carpet could have used a cleaning
- Heather (4/5): Disappointing - No coffee pot, no hair dryer, small bathroom, small room with 2 beds
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): - Always a good stay! We arrived early. Some motels would make you wait until check in time. We had been on the road for over 14 hours. They quickly made up our rooms first and checked us in immediately! That was great and so appreciated! They are awesome!
- John (8/5): - It ain't Holiday Inn, but its better than OK.
- Stan (8/5): Very good - Staff went above and beyond to be helpful meeting our late (12:30 AM ) check in time.
- Becky (8/5): Nice little room - No outlets in the bathroom, BUT there was a table with a mirror to do my hair and face. Rooms were very comfortable. I was very pleased for the price!
- Brian (10/5): - They were super nice. Extremely attentive. A very nice and relaxing stay! Highly recommend
!
- Lisa (6/5): - There was no water glasses or coffee cups or coffee, there was hair in the tub and dirty washcloth still on curtain rod
- Bruce (4/5): Not your best place to stay if you are handicapped - No handicapped rooms and the internet was very slow. Bed was hard and chairs uncomfortable. The bathroom was clean but the floor near beds were not vacuumed.
- Polly (6/5): Staff very friendly. Carpet filthy. - Location Carpet is filthy. Desperately needs new carpet. Couldn’t walk from shower to bed without feet getting dirty. Had to ask for toilet paper the first day.
- Jerry (5/5): Passable -
- Gerald (7/5): Good -
- Vanessa (5/5): Passable - Good location for what I needed. Room and bedding were clean and smelled clean. Water pressure was impressive. Mattresses was very old and uncomfortable. Furnishings were outdated. I didn’t feel like the door was very secure. No dead bolt or chain. There was a very slight musty smell but this place is old so is expected.
- Sharon (7/5): Great value and location for my stay. - The rooms were clean and spacious. While the bathroom was very clean, it could use some updates.
- Kelsy (10/5): Exceptional -
- daniel (8/5): Nice stay - Nice room, comfortable bed, could use better pillows, they are hard. Over all a nice stay. Great staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check in was quick and easy, hotel is dated but nice, good water pressure in the shower, staff was helpful with questions
- Joe (10/5): - A great economy stay in a beautiful town where everyone knows everyone and the hospitality overflows. Rooms were old style motor court convenient, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and a host who would move mountains to make your stay happy.
Highly recommended
- TIN YAN L (8/5): Pleasant stay - The room was very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Older hotel but clean and friendly. They made sure the room was warm before we got there which was great considering it was 27° out by the time we arrived
- Lori (8/5): - We have stayed here a couple of times. The owner is very nice and helpful. The place is old, but they keep it very clean, this is why we come back. The bed and pillow are comfortable.
- Carolyn (8/5): - I think the Economy Inn is overpriced for what you get!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great experience - Did not expect a lot when I booked given the very reasonable price and pictures of outside. Staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was a LOT larger than expected and actually had 3 beds and a couch when I only expected to have two. The building was older and could definitely tell it’s age but room was very clean despite that. Beds were very comfortable. Only complaint I could have is the bathroom supplies that are provided by the hotel (shampoo conditioner and soap for showers) are very small and did not get replaced after the first night.
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a lowkey budget friendly place to stay!
- Gena (10/5): Welcoming - It’s an older motel but you can’t tell it. Very clean and nice. The gentleman running it was very nice as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice and everything clean. Staff was great even checked after we got the room that everything was to our liking. We've stayed in the area before at another motel but never again. Economy Inn is superior over the other
- Debra (10/5): Recent Stay - The room was clean and smelled nice. The bed was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff that was willing to help make my stay comfortable. Very clean room.
