Guest Reviews

- Suzana (10/5): Great onsen ryokan stay - The whole experience of japanese style room with the sea view was great. It’s some effort to arrave there and move around with public transport. Next time we would hire a car.

- Katsuyoshi (9/5): good!
- Beth (10/5): - The dinner that we had was absolutely amazing. Some of the best fish we've had in Japan (we live here) and excellent presentation. One abalone dish alone was worth the entire stay. The baths are lovely too.
- chik ki (9/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Peaceful and comfortable. - Top notch. Very comfortable and tranquill. Private baths were almost always available and easy to see if they were in use or not. Wish I booked more than 2 nights.

- RIKA VANESSA (9/5):
- Benjamin (9/5): excellent. would return. best ryokan of the trip at a great price. - This place is immaculate and relaxing. It overlooks a beautiful bay. It just has a calming air. The tatami’s are pristine.
The service is impeccable. Tea service in the room waiting for you. turndown of the tatami room for sleeping. Slept great here.
The onsens have views of the bay. Watching sunrise and sunset from the onsen was excellent. salt water makes for a great bathing medium.
incredible breakfast. worth paying for. there’s a bit of road noise as it overlooks the coastal road. this is an unfortunate decision by the town but it does not diminish the places charm much.

- Steven from Belgium (10/5): - The outstanding hospitability, courteousness and friendliness of Taiseikan ryokan staff, combined with the esthetically appealing rooms and surroundings make for a delighful stay. The spacious rooms provide perfect comfort and offer magnificient views. Our preferred stay in Japan after many years of steady travelling.
- Veronica (9/5): Friendliness in very Japanese village - Very friendly staff, well equipped hotel including private onsen.
It’s in a small village reachable by bus from Atami. You can walk along the coast line to some more restaurants Futon sleeping is not my thing. The beach opposite the hotel is not intended for sunbathing or swimming
- Quyen (9/5): Enjoyed the private hot springs onsen. The breakfasts and dinners were exceptional. The staffs were as polite and friend - Great place. Only sleeping on the floor with a thin mattress was hard on my back. Otherwise everything was wonderful
- Christopher (10/5): Wonderful Ryokan Experience - The experience here was incredible. Ajiro is a quaint town and Teiseikan provides a perfect retreat from the woahs of the city. Staff are very helpful, friendly and willing to assist foreign travelers. The futons are a bit firm.
- Mayuki (9/5): Amazing! - Loved the dinner, it was extravagant and fancy. It was our favorite meal we had the entire Japan trip!
- Jeffrey (10/5): Excellent value, traditional ryokan with a view of the sea, lovely staff. - This was a lovely traditional ryokan next to the sea. We've stayed there twice and found it to be informal and very relaxing.
- Susanna (9/5): A wonderful short stay in a peaceful ryokan - The hotel is very close to the train station. The rooms are spacious and beautiful in a traditional japanese way. The private onsen with a view was exquisite with all its amenities. -
- Clemence (8/5): Very good - Rooms with nice sea view. Very good private onsen. We delicious dinner & breakfast. Very cozy environment.
- Mariza (9/5): Superb -
- Tomoko (7/5): Good -
- Julia (9/5): Superb -
- Lily (10/5): Exceptional - Food, staff, and location. The hotel is not far from the JR station, and it is convenient for people not driving. Staff is nice and attentive to detail. The food, especially the grilled fish, is delicious. This boutique hotel is valued for money given that two private onsen rooms are offered for all guests. I highly recommend this place for people who look for a quiet and relaxing onsen trip.
- Guido (10/5): Exceptional - little not to like doorframes a little low
- Nithya (10/5): Had a wonderful relaxing stay at Taiseikan. Great place to unwind and while the time away. I spent 3 nights there. Could - Excellent location, easy to get to from the station. It’s a beautiful ryokan. Onsen with views of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet even though my room was facing the main road. Both breakfast and dinner was excellent. They had a great selection of nihonshu. The staff were well versed in their knowledge of nihonshu and recommended a few to try with my dinner. Nothing
- Merzliakova (10/5): Exceptional - We liked everything: onsen with the view, room, hospitality, price/value is great.
- Gabrielle (9/5): Wonderful old world Japanese ryokan - We spent 4 nights at the ryokan. At first we were worried that the booking would be too long. However we loved the trip back in time to a sleepy onsen town The banquet for one dinner and one breakfast was outstanding. We made the most of the Atami area and having lived in Japan it made everything easier
- Jeffrey (8/5): A traditional ryokan in a delightful location. - It was good value for money. The location next to the ocean was exceptional. South Atami is quiet and relaxing. The staff interrupted us on Saturday morning even after we said we would not come down for breakfast.
- Grihon (8/5): Great stay - beautiful room , amazing onsen , view on the sea, kind staff - Big beautiful clean room
Beautiful view on the sea
Great onsen
Very kind staff
Lobby with beautiful vintage fournitures and a bar It s not thé hôtel’s responsability but it s too bad that the city built the main street just next to the sea and down by the hôtel . Many cars pass by unfortunately . All in all it didnt change our experience - we loved staying there
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Jay (9/5): Value for money and great service. - 5 mins walk from Ajiro station. Private onsen. Great Seaview. No breakfast served in hotel but free coffee and tea was available 24-Hours. Great staff and very clean rooms.Quiet Town. Atami Town is just one stop before Ajiro station, is more bustling. Nothing.
- Ueda (10/5): Awesome staying - Private onsen and yukata
- Dominique (8/5): Nice Ryokan in the South of Atami - The view from the private onsen in the 5th floor is really great. The public one with it's outer area was okay.
The room was spacious and the futons were soft and cozy.
The breakfast was big and full of great seasonal and local produce. The area around the Ryokan is not so great.
Not much open in the evening or are closing down early.
If you stay for the night it is better to book a room with a dinner course.
- Ushani (8/5): Very good -
- Felix (9/5): A very nice stay (given the price). The Onsen were very nice - The breakfast is pricy, but really nice. Lighting color and color scheme of the room. Small changes could make it more comfy IMO
- Chitisol (8/5): Awesome ryokan at the seaside - Except the public bath, the Ryokan has another two bath rooms can be used without booking or extra fee, you can go in as long as it's available, and it functions as the private bath. Since Ajiro is not a hot destination compared with Atami or Ito, the private bath is often available. However, Tokyo people like to spent weekend in izu so it's expected to be a bit busy in the weekend. The rooms are very clean and traditional as well. I think it's hard to find another ryokan with same level of comfort with a close price. The room only has 4 power sockets, all away from sleeping area, made it inconvenient to charge phones, portable wifi, etc. Also it's a bit surprised that such a good ryokan doesn't have microwave oven in the room.
- Nils (10/5): Highly recommended - Very beautiful room with ocean view. Very good public bath. Free access to a private bath on 5th floor with ocean view. Very kind staff. I forgot to order full board and it wasn't possible to upgrade (which was kinda understandable since I arrived rather late). Luckily there was a very good restaurant less than a five minutes walk away.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Ben (8/5): Very good -
- Irina (9/5): Superb -
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Urs (4/5): A disapointing stay. - To my surprise, there was no meal included.
Ordering it from the request form on the booking site did not work.
The Hotel (Ryokan) was not able to serve any food at all.
No coffee at 21:20 (till 22:00 ok, written on the on the Hotel instructions.
- Chao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suk (5/5): Passable - Hot spring: small, not opened air. Private onsen: Got some unpleasant smeill
Dinner: food is not very fresh
- Hok (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thanwarat (10/5): beautiful property with ocean view, short distance from Ajiro station, delicious kaiseki dinner, private onsen with ocea - private onsen with ocean view nothing
