Guest Reviews
- Joan (8/5): Traditional Japanse House nearby the locals - It was a nice stay for our weekend in Kyoto. The old house is maintained in the original conditions. We can feel how people were living there in the past. I appreciate especially the indoor and outdoor integration in the house. I can smell the wood when I first enter the house. There are lots of traditional items/decorations in the house, they should be part of the collection of the house owner. Lots of things to be discovered. Things are delicate so we reminded ourselves to treat them with great care. We enjoyed our stay much.
- Daniel (4/5): Décevant - Séjour de 4 jours en famille à Kyoto après avoir passé 5 jours à Tokyo.
Ville plus reposante et temples maginfiques.
- Heather (10/5): Breathtakingly Rustic Old Japan - WOW! Just wow! We were in awe the whole time! A breathtaking glimpse of Old Japan with so many beautiful details to admire. It's truly wonderful. The home is like a rustic cabin---novel & exciting---but rustic. This place is better suited for the adventurous type looking for a unique experience, rather than someone seeking a plush ryokan. Make no mistake---the home may be rustic but owner Haru goes to great lengths to provide every comfort you could ask for! We could tell a lot of thought and care went into setting the home up for guests. We wanted for nothing. For our group, the whole experience was exciting. Perfect for a few days but perhaps not best for a lengthy stay. Haru was a kind, communicative host. He makes it his personal mission to ensure you have the best trip. We were surprised to be greeted with a note inviting us to enjoy a free drink on the house at his wine bar up the road (that also has great food! The caprese was amazing---but no English menu). The guesthouse is located in a quiet neighborhood close to the subway station, so you feel like a local. Comes with pocket wifi, too. Also, we had an extra guest able to join us last minute, and Haru worked it out for us no problem. You couldn't ask for a more hospitable host or more unique experience. Highly recommend for those of you looking for something different than your average hotel! A highlight of our trip :)
