Guest Reviews
- Fang (8/5): - The view of the famous square is gorgeous. The hotel manager is thoughtful and helpful to prepare us for the parking in advance. The location of the hotel has nothing to blame. Generally it’s a great place to stay for Siena.
- Håkon (10/5): - Lovely family run place! The staff gladly welcomed us with a lot of recommendations for places to eat. Also helped us with storing the luggage.
Room was tidy and clean.
10/10
- Beverley (10/5): - Lovely place to stay and very central . We had a room with a balcony which overlooked the square . Viola was very welcoming and ordered taxis for us .
- Glynnis (10/5): - Excellent place, such delightful hosts. Room was beautifully decorated and so clean, comfortable and quiet. Absolutely loved it. Was very convenient for walking to the central piazza and other sights.Would definitely return. A lovely stay thankyou.
- Ira (10/5): - Service was supreme. Decor was authentic Italian. Hard to beat the central location
- Jeremy (10/5): A two night visit to Siena - 2 night stay in Siena as part it holiday throughout Italy.
Great accomodation, a little tricky to find. Staff are very helpful and polite, and the drinks, biscuits and snacks in reception are an added bonus and appreciated.
Would definitely stay again.
- fred (10/5): - Very welcoming helpful managers. Well situated.
Ask for a room with balcony. , overlooking the Campo.
If driving, will take some time to find parking above the center, then finding a taxi. To take you to la terraza
- Christopher (10/5): - very good
- Matthew (10/5): THE BEST SIENA EXPERIENCE YOU COULD HAVE... - What a perfect place to stay in Siena. Olivia was such a hospitable host and we felt very cared for. The location is one of the best in Siena, steps away from the piazza and so many other great restaurants and shops. Highly recommended.
- Sydney (10/5): - Would 10/10 recommend this stay to a friend and would stay here again! Room was beautiful, location was perfect, and the staff is kind and helpful!
- Pavel (10/5): - Excellent location. Excellent service. Great view from the balcony.
- Rhoneil (10/5): - The view from room is great and the room was awesome and clean and they provided snacks. Front desk was excellent.
- Mary (10/5): - Great stay
- Katie (10/5): - Could not have been better! The room was beautiful, and had a huge window overlooking the Piazza del Campo. It can get loud at night, but the hotel provided earplugs, and being in the heart of the energy was amazing.
- Michael (10/5): Great experience! - Perfect location in Siena - big and comfortable room - excellent amenities - Viola is a welcoming and lovely woman and host! Can't miss with this one!
- Paul (10/5): - This property is on the Piazza del Canpo. In the heart of Old Siena. The staff communicated via text prior to arrival. They provide bottled water and also a continental breakfast. Additionally you can enjoy aperitivo in the lobby. You can walk to all main attractions in minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful. Be aware that the piazza is active until 2am so you can hear the revelry at times. Highly Recommend
- Giuseppe (10/5): - Best hotel in italy
- Kathryn (10/5): Spectacular in Siena! - La Terrassa is great! The location and view over Il Campo in Siena is simply spectacular. The welcome from host Viola is brilliant (so many hotels could learn from her skills and warmth). The Suite is huge, feels like your own apartment. Breakfast snacks and lots of drinks provided. Highly recommended!
- David (10/5): - My wife and I loved our stay! The property is historic and has so much character. Our room had a view of the Il Campo square which was fantastic. The location can't be beat. The communication with the property prior to check was great. There were complimentary snacks and drinks available in the lobby. I highly recommend staying here!
- Laura (8/5): - Clean, comfortable and manager was communicative and friendly.
- Adrienne (10/5): - Charming inn just off the Piazza del Campo. Viola and her mother are fabulous hosts. Our room had killer views of the campo and Torre del Mangia. Highly recommend La Terrazzo Sul Campo for an authentic Sienese experience.
- Brenda (10/5): - The absolute best place to stay in Siena. Viola could not do enough for us, even offering to walk with us to the taxi stand. If, you have a chance to stay in this historical family owned property you will be luck. Our large room opened up to the city square. Magical!
- Pat (10/5): - This was an amazing place. Our hostess was so kind, helpful, organized, ensured we were aware of what to do to check in, while there, provided great extras in the lobby, a very family orientated place and atmosphere. The room itself was large, historic, comfortable with a view of Il Campo main piazza, what a great location for getting anywhere in the city. The only info I would provide is because you are on the piazza, where everyone gathers, there can be noise, which did not bother us, however, the hostess thinks of everything and provides earplugs for those that might need it. Would definitely stay here again! Our favorite accommodation and city on this trip
- Courtney (10/5): - Viola and her mother were accommodating, making sure we were well taken care of. Our room was quite large and very nicely appointed with an excellent view over the city center square - great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): You will like it. - Great location. Very comfortable room. Wonderfully upbeat staff. Not a 24 hour front desk. Noise from the large square filters in during the evening.
- Robert (10/5): What a wonderful place to call home while in Siena - Absolutely fabulous! The room was large and came with a view of the Campo. No balcony on our unit, but our next door neighbor had a large one overlooking all of the activity in the Campo. Bout host and her staff were attentive yet invisible, and ensured the self service coffee and snack area was fully stocked and attractively prepared. The apartment entry was nestled in a quaint courtyard off the main shopping and restaurant street and provided easy access to all of the sights Siena has to offer. We can’t wait to call it our home again on our next trip to Siena. Loved it!
- Chris (10/5): Amazing place to stay in Siena - We stayed for 2 nights in La Piazza del Campo suite. The photos don't do the scale and grandeur of the room justice, and we were amazed by the room on arrival. The views of Piazza del Campo from the balcony are fantastic, perfect for a spot of people watching.
The location is so central you are never more than a few minutes easy stroll from your destination and you won't be short of places to eat and drink,
Viola was super helpful and very quick to respond to any communication which made check in an easy experience. She also made some great recommendations for places to eat.
- Michael (10/5): - We loved our stay. All our communications with Viola were easy and we were only sorry we didn’t get to meet her since she had a baby the day we arrived. Best wishes to mother and baby.
Viola’s mother, Sylvia, checked us in and was helpful with non tourist places to eat. They were excellent. Accommodations were as stated and bed very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay for Siena - Everything was great and we were given most of the information before arriving.
A slight miscommunication on when city tax should was to be paid but beautiful location and great room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing location right behind Piazza del Campo. The room is ideal for a few nights, everything was very clean and the bed exceptionally comfy.
- Marjorie (10/5): Great two night stay in Siena - Absolutely fabulous! The location is perfection, the room comfortable and the check-in easy and hostess friendly. I am very pleased with my stay in Siena!
- Carlos (8/5): - Lovely room, great communication with Viola, and easy to find as its right on the Main Street… my room overlooked Il Campo… which was amazing but a little bit noisy…but enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.
- Luc (10/5): - Friendly staff, spacious room, very clean. Excellent location!
- Stefanos (10/5): superb - very nice room, excellent hospitality by Viola
- Pamela (10/5): - Fantastic size room with terrific view perfect location, so clean and magical atmosphere. All my friends who saw it say they will be staying there next time.
- Douglas (10/5): The Best Kept Secret in Siena - We discovered two treasures in Siena: the stately hotel and its lovely caretaker, Viola. Take it from a world traveler… you will find no better value in Italy. If you can afford the top room with a full balcony over Plaza de Campo, do it. The view is extraordinary, as are the extra high ceilings, antique furniture and artwork inside.
To get here, take a cab. Only 15 euro. You can be dropped off at the courtyard in front, and when you depart, Viola will summon a cab all the way to the station in 15 minutes flat. The ride is an experience in itself, as people clear the streets with towering ancient walls rising up on both sides.
Viola gave us flawless directions to the property. As we arrived late, there was a welcome note on our door and she called, too. Being right on the Campo is amazing, although the crowds are loud and the jarring bell tower goes off every 30 minutes. There were heavy duty earplugs provided, however. I am a very light sleeper and amazingly, with those earplugs, I slept like a baby both nights.
We did a local walking tour of the city and Duomo all the way up to the top for an amazing view. We shopped at wine stores and found values that were the best we saw anywhere from Sicily to Milan. We found leather stores with deals on purses, wallets, and more. Viola recommended good restaurants within walking distance, too. The food was amazing.
- Francis (10/5): - Great location with superb view on Piazza del Campo and just steps away from duomo. Very nice spacious palazza like rooms. Very helpful staff. Advise to leave car in public parking outside the center and take a taxi up, if you have luggage to carry. Learn street name and number as the hotel is on a courtyard without external signage, and study shower options before you activate or you get a cold water refreshment from one of the many points.
- Neeraj (10/5): Fantastic experience - It was very nice and the people are extra gentle and nice. The breakfast was fantastic. The place is in the center of the centro so everything is walking distance.
- David (10/5): - Great hôtel and great hosts! The view from the rooms is amazing and the location couldn’t be better. I highly recommend!
- Alicia (10/5): Best Risotto - Hotel was great. The restaurant was amazing, great wine and beer! Risotto was the best!
- Bryan (8/5): - amazing space overlooking the campo... downside is that their is no noise reduction possible in such an apartment and the bell tower rings every hour all night long. Still an incredible experience just don't expect to sleep well - but you can do that at home!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had originally booked a lesser room, but were joined by a friend so moved up to the suite. MY GOSH, we were awestruck by the size and quality of the room and the view!!!!! Overlooking the piazza and a balcony to walk out on. The family has owned the property for 7 centuries and the building for 5 centuries. Amazing. Staff very helpful. Breakfast served on a huge dining table in the room from a menu you fill out the night before. Be aware that you can here all the noise from the piazza below. Our second night the noise carried on till 4:45 a.m. (some sort of graduation) They had ear plugs at the front desk, curious we thought; now we know! Just a note; no privacy between double and single beds. Loved this property. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed here for 3 nights and we loved our suite .. it was absolutely beautiful. The view from our Balcony was great. Having breakfast in your room was a great idea. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Siena is a wonderful place
Highly recommend staying here
- BryanKirby (10/5): - Our room overlooked Il Campo which was perfect, especially for our in-room breakfast, compliments of the hotel.
- SaraM (10/5): - Great location in center of town, easy late check in, friendly staff and breakfast.
- J (10/5): - I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in Siena. This place is a gem.
- Yan (8/5): Nice room but too loud outside - The decor and layout of the room is very good. It's clean but the towel has a strange smell and feels not dry enought (maybe this is due to the moist weather or so).
The view is perfect for the piazza look. The only thing we didn't expect was the noise. I think until 1:30 AM it was still super loud because people were still singing and gathering for fun in the piazza. Next time I will avoid this whole area for a good sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here recently for part of our honeymoon and it was wonderful! The view and location are absolutely perfect. You could not choose a better location in Siena! The room was lovely and the included room service breakfast each morning was delicious! This hotel is clearly a family run place and the owners are so warm and welcoming! We would absolutely stay here again.
- Roger (10/5): joyed our stay - Had a wonderful stay as leg 4 of our Switzerland & Italy trip. Large rooms - overlooking the piazza (which was cool but noisy due to celebrations going on) hotel gave us ear plugs which solved the problem.
Breakfast was great.
- DIANA (10/5): Exceptional in Siena - It was the best location and experience. The in room breakfast service was exceptional and spoiled us. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent view of campo, right in center of tourist area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful bed and breakfast with a private balcony overseeing the Piazza del Campo. My room was more like an apartment and included a couch, kitchen table, seating area around a decorative fireplace. Breakfast was served in the morning on my table with an assortment of cereal, yogurt, pastries, and coffee catered to my request. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I plan to stay again on my next visit, I highly recommend!
- Krista (8/5): - Lovely old property, excellent location right on the square. However, because it is on the square, it is quite loud at night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect view, amazing place, terrific rooms, fabulous stay! Highly recommended. Hope to return soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Huge room with great view over the piazza. Viola is a lovely host.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very unique property overlooking the Piazza del Campo. It’s a small boutique run by a lovely family who know where to shop and eat like a local. Very charming. We loved our stay.
- William (10/5): What an unbelievable location - Fourteenth century building with twenty first century standards of hospitality. Unbelievable location and view at the epicentre of Siena Breakfast delivered to our spacious and well appointed room. Constraints of space mean no communal areas available, but the proximity of the hotel to the centre of Siena means that guests will not wish to spend any time sitting around the hotel premises anyway.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - Our stay was unfortunately disappointing - compared to the reviews we had read and the price for this hotel.
- The towels were really musty
- There was no soap in the bathroom
- The shower made a strange loud sound when using it
- Extra pillows were in a cupboard of which the lock was broken (i.e. could not open)
When we checked in, the receptionist was friendly and helpful - but the reception was not manned, and it was hence difficult to reach out and ask for help after the initial contact.
Location however is amazing, and the view out on the piazza was lovely!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All around great property!!! Viola is doing a great job in all aspects! Many thanks for the great stay/experience Viola!!! :) As an owner of a travel agency, I will certainly recommend and book your property!
- John (10/5): Hidden gem. - The location is the best, the staff are wonderful. Breakfast is a bit hit or miss.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, and good sized rooms. Checkin a bit tricky, as they are not always there (and the phone number they left on the door was incorrect), but it worked out in the end.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is truly unique; right on the main square in central Siena, with only four rooms, all decorated in a unique style. The room we had was large and well laid-out, with a beautiful balcony. We loved our stay.
The bathroom was a pod within the room and this was one of the only slight downsides; although the fittings were all very good there was a smell of drains sometimes.
The room being right on the square and with large balcony doors means that noise from outside does come in to the room. At night this is chatter from bars and restaurants. In the morning (on Sunday at least) we were woken by drums and trumpets from a parade rehearsal, which we then had a perfect vantage point for. Beds are really comfy, so we slept well despite this.
Fantastic communication from the owners, who were happy to help with taxis etc. Reception is only during the day but they can arrange late check-in very easily.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, Family owned Suites, wonderful staff, very much appreciated for all the help from Viola and Veiri. Highly recommended. We were very happy with our 5 days staying there. We will return
- Lynn (10/5): - Location, location, location!!! Did I say location. This hotel is right on the wall around Piazza del Campo and the rooms are palatial with balconies overlooking the square. Breakfast was served in the room and each morning we ate overlooking the Piazza. The price was so reasonable, we could not believe what we got for it. Highly recommend!!! The staff was so friendly and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing family owned property, Great staffs, good breakfast, convenient location to shops and many good restaurants around. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Having a balcony overlooking the Campo was extraordinary, also the size of our room was massive, an extremely amazing property.
The only place we will stay for our future visits to see Siena.
- Jason (10/5): - Truly amazing location! Great balcony with a view right onto the Piazza Del Campo. Clean room, updated bathroom. This was probably our favorite stay while in Italy.
- Antonio (6/5): - While the location of this property is good, you also need to be aware that it is in a car-free zone, which means your taxi can only drop you off at certain designated spot. Another thing need to keep in mind is the noise factor. The hotel windows all face the campo with poor sound proof, which means you might hear the tower bell ring every hour throughout the night. So definitely NOT for light sleepers. There are also a lot of street noise. Other than that, it is a decent place.
- Scott (8/5): - The location was great. It's right by the Piazza del Campo so we can easily walk to almost every place in this hill top town. The staff was helpful and friendly. We had a variety of breakfast food served in the room. Loved it!
- Brian (10/5): Beautiful Views! - From the entrance through the adorable courtyard to the amazing view of il Campo from the balcony, this hotel makes you feel welcome! The staff are very friendly and helpful. We looked forward to the breakfast served in our large suite each day as we took in the sights and sounds of the city centre. Amazing accommodations!! BTW, this is the wife's review, wanted to make sure it was done!
- Howard (10/5): Piazza del Campo. - Wonderful location. Great view of the Piazza.
- Steve (10/5): - Interior has the looks of an old historic building, really nice. Hotel is close to Piazza del Campo and the duomo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Walkable distance to many things. Super comfortable beds. Great restaurants and shopping around. The staff are lovely. Breakfast across the road was fantastic. I wish I had stayed here the whole time instead of going to another place I had booked earlier.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Excellent location but late night noise from public square makes full night sleep impossible. Breakfast served in room and staff friendly though no one on duty after 7:30pm at all. WiFi is extremely slow and weak signal. No parking at all though the old town is best on foot anyway. I will not be back.
- Tiffany (10/5): Beautiful room, fantastic location! - Amazing location and beautiful room overlooking the piazza. Unassuming from the outside and modest lobby, but fantastic service, run by a family who take care of all of your needs. Cannot beat the view from the balcony! We’ll be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hospitality and location. Recommended venue.
- Pam (10/5): A gem of a place! - This was our favorite accommodation on our 4 city Italy trip. We loved the huge room overlooking the square and the breakfast brought to our room each morning. The location was central as could be. It exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay there again if in Siena.
- Dennis (8/5): - Location, location, location !!!
This is a beautifully restored middle-age buiding with a lot of character and interesting history.
Restoration typical of the era and location. Huge room, comfortable bed, breakfast served in the room.
We had a view from our balcony if the
Palazzo de Campo !
If we go back to this lovely city, we would not consider any other accommodation..
- jean (10/5): Loved the place - It was amazing we enjoyed everything.
- Mellen (10/5): - And outstanding boutique hotel right in la Piazza del Campo. Perfecto!
- rock (10/5): The Best of Siena - Look no further if you want the real Siena experience...Space and Location Fabulous...This Flat is perched above the Campo...with Balcony...Brother and Sister run and manage this amazing space...The Campo can be loud but it was worth connecting with the auethenticity of Siena...We still cant believe we were so blessed to find this Gem...5/5 10/10 👍
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Centrally located with a beautiful view of Piazza del Campo. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable.
- Therese (10/5): Gem of a hotel in the heart of Siena - It is very hard to find fault with this lovely little hotel. The location is perfect, and the view from our room spectacular. We were a bit concerned to see ear plugs on the bedside tables, but there was very little noise from the Piazza. The room was very spacious and the bed good and firm, which I need. A couple of minor problems for us were the lack of any drawer space, so we had to keep most clothing in our cases and I dislike fancy shower heads in the ceiling of the shower - hard to adjust and not at all useful if you don't want to wash your hair. Apart from this, the room and bathroom were immaculately clean, they provide breakfast in the room, a very nice touch, and the staff were friendly, and very helpful. We would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it very highly.
- Vincent (10/5): Great place - Excellent place... highly recommend
- Bradley (10/5): Don’t miss this hotel - Absolutely lovely. The rooms are stunning and clean. One of the most incredible hotels I have stayed in.
- Kathy (10/5): Best little inn in Sienna - This is a wonderful inn with the best possible location in Sienna. Very accommodating host.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and room - Great location and room. The hosts were friendly and breakfast was delicious.
- Kimberly (8/5): Nice place in the heart of Seina - Just be aware when you are looking for this place that the address numbers on one side go up and on the otherside go down or something like that. I passed it up many times and was exhausted by the time I figured that out. The staff were really nice even though I was in a horrible mood and not so nice myself. I'm glad I had the chance to apologize before I left. The bed was comfortable, the shower a decent size with good water pressure. The room service free breakfast was delicious! I really don't have any negatives to report about this place. I'd stay there again if I were to return.
- Sasha (10/5): - The location is terrific, being situated right by Piazza del Campo and very close to everything. The room was charming with a mix of old and modern, was very large and had a fantastic view of Piazza del Campo. The hotel is family run and the owners really take care of you: very welcoming and breakfast delivered to your room! A great experience in a terrific city.
- Kathleen (10/5): - This hotel was amazing. We wete met in the courtyard in front of the hotel and personally greeted. It was more like being in a beautiful home than a hotel.
Afull breakfast was served on a tray to our room in the early morning as we had a train to catch. A cab was called for us too. This was a truly special place!
- Ross (8/5): Enjoyable - Hotel was in a great area. Very nice room and bathroom.
- Debbie (10/5): - Great location, right next to the piazza. In fact, our balcony overlooked the square. We enjoyed looking out, but it could get a bit noisy at night. Great breakfast served in your room each morning. Family owned, very welcoming and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location with a view of Il Campo and the Palazzo Publico. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. They bring your breakfast and will call for a taxi. The bathroom is modern in this very old building.
The only downside is the noise. People outside will start to sing, drum, or just shout in the middle of the night. The clock in the tower of the Palazzo Publico chimes on the hour and half hour. Dumping wine bottles into trucks is an early morning ritual. The hotel thoughtfully provides ear plugs. You will probably want to use them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place close to the center - We stayed only for one night but really wished we had another night in Siena. The accommodation was great, very central, 2 minutes walk to the Piazza del Campo. The host recommended a couple of great restaurants away from the main tourist areas. They brought breakfast to our room which was wonderful!
Thanks for a great stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay - The owners are extremely nice, very helpful and speak excellent English.which is very much appreciated. The hotel is in a great location, very clean and comfortable.
- CHRISTOPHER (10/5): Brilliant - Fabulous apartment and balcony onto the Campo. Lovely helpful people who run it and bring you your breakfast of choice. memorable for all right reasons.
- Suzanne (Sandy) (10/5): Family owned, run; LARGE room! - We had no idea really what to expect but this was one of the most lovely, comfortable, LARGE (rooms in Italy are typically very small), service was excellent, breakfast served every day to your room (included) ; family run by the next gen coming up and they were professional, responsive, helpful and very kind. Their english good (our italian was horrible, soo sorry). Our room overlooked the town square, so it was sort of noisy, so if you are sound sensitive ask for a room not overlooking the square; but we've had worse in Florence.
- Cathy (10/5): Wonderful family run hotel in center of Siena - We recently stayed for one evening at this wonderful hotel. From the time we booked, the staff was attentive to inquiries and took care of all the arrangements for our parking and transportation into the city center. We had expected to arrive in Siena mid-day but due to unexpected circumstances, we did not arrive until early evening. I communicated our late arrival and they simply took care of everything !! We were given an excellent recommendation to a local restaurant for dinner and our on site breakfast was perfect. Please consider a stay at this wonderful hotel. You will not be disappointed and the location could not be more prefect
- Rob in VA (10/5): Like being royalty in Medieval Times - A beautiful renovation of one floor of an ancient villa. We had 20 foot ceilings, a fantastic balcony with a view right onto the Campo, Sienna's main square. Cool modern bathroom built into the room, breakfast served in your room to order included, and the most personable welcome from the owners imaginable. Sienna is a great city and this place is RIGHT in the heart between the Duomo and the Campo. If you crave absolute quiet to sleep early this may not be your place; the Campo is busy well past midnight. But you'll feel like youre in the party; and its not too loud to sleep! Great place
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location and lovely room. - After the busy streets of Florence, the quieter Siena is a great change of pace. Upon arrival, we were greeted by name, given a map to show us the key sights and close restaurants. When shown to our room, we were delighted by a large, serene space overlooking Piazza del Campo. Breakfast to order in our room was perfect. We are already planning a return trip to this gem.
