• russell (2/5): HORRIBLE, SLEEPLESS NIGHT, LEFT AT 5AM. NOT EVEN SUITABLE FOR THE DESPERATE. NOISY. - Nothing Avoid single room number 4, always smells of shake and vac overpoweringly, no window that can be opened, weird bed. Loud humming sound low pitched with oscillation that kept me awake, i left at 5am. Maybe a generator.

• Chris (7/5): Excellent location, reasonably priced. - Excellent location, in a pub is always a bonus. Clean, comfortable enough and the price was reasonable. Its an old building, so it has limited facilities and a bit noisy at times Its in a pub, so thats to be expected.

I thought Id try my luck at 12am, yes the place was technically closed but id asked for a bag of crisps, was told it was okay if I payed by card. Then the supervisor I'm assuming walks up behind the bar man saying 'dont f..ing do that again say, f no' sorry?? Is that how we talk to staff and customers??? A simple no would of been okay...

• Julie (3/5): DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE COST! Pay extra and get a nice smelling room! - The location was superb, good supply of tea making facilities, hairdryer supplied, iron & ironing board supplied, nice fresh towels supplied, bedding fresh Initial reaction when walking into the pub was OMG, it was in a very unkept condition. We then went through the door to the stairs to reach the room and that was just as bad. Very unkept, in serious need of new carpet, paint and tidying up. The stairs smelt very musty and damp. I appreciate this is an old building but this was not really acceptable. Upon entering the bedroom, initial reaction was that it was ok, contained rather old furniture but fine. The draw in the desk/dressing table was full of dust and dirt, not cleaned out. The bathroom, OMG it smelt really bad of damp. It was that bad, I considered booking another hotel and losing the money I had already paid out but we stuck it out reluctantly. There were no toiletries supplied with the exception of hand soap, but shower gel container was empty. Shower doors did not close correctly leaving floor flooded after a shower. Shower was fine but took a while to heat up whilst the sink tap, no hot water at all. There was mould/damp around bottom of shower tray and behind the sink. The mirror in the bathroom was falling apart and definitely needed replacing. Whilst this did not affect the usage of the mirror it just didn't look nice. The IMPORTANT INFORMATION on the hotel description... 1. Bar closed at 11.30pm on the Friday and Saturday night NOT 2.30am as per description 2. Parking was close by but the daily charge is £6.05 NOT £5.30 as per description and it IS NOT COIN OPERATED. You have to pay by phone, there is NO option to pay via bank card, PHONE ONLY. 3. We DID NOT have to provide ID or leave a deposit Would I stay her again or recommend it... DEFINITELY NOT! I do NOT normally leave reviews but I can 100% say I was totally disappointed with this stay, the photographs are totally mis-leading and probably taken about 10 years + ago.

It's literally 2 minutes away from the train station and has a bunch of shops, restaurants, and coffee places around. The room was a bit small, and the bed was very high off the ground. In the room, there was only a small window that I couldn't even open. The bed was ok, but clearly too small for me. I'm 1,9m, and my feet were left hanging at the bottom of the bed. Finally, the shower area felt a bit off, as the ground caved slightly when I stepped on it. It looked like a sketchy construction.

• Michelle (8/5): Excellent location - central to everything! 👌 - Staff were extremely helpful. Fantastic location. Parking is only 3 mins walk from hotel. Station is less than a minute. We went to an 80’s night at The Buttermarket. 2/3 min walk from venue. Room was a tad too small. Damp smell whilst walking up to the room, but room itself was fine, just on the small side… TV’s could do with being upgraded to a bigger size…. Would stay here again as excellent location… no noise at all from the bar downstairs

• Karl (5/5): Fine but basic. - Staff member was good on arrival. Bed was comfortable. Room was fine for one person. Location was good apart from the traffic and road outside but that was unavoidable. Toilet didn't flush properly. Room needed more thorough cleaning as there were a small amount of broken crisps on the floor around the desk area. All slightly jaded and bathroom was badly designed, especially the position of the wash basin and shelf immediately above it, which made the basin difficult to use.. Room was very noisy from traffic past window and ventilation was limited.

It did not pretend to be full service. It would be difficult of access for anyone with physical problems, but I had no problems.

• Jonathan (7/5): - Fun bar downstairs, staff were really friendly and helpful. Bed was clean and comfortable. Room was quiet considering location on busy street. Stairs were no issue as was clearly warned in pre-arrival information. The en-suite in Room 1 isn't ideal. There isn't a proper door, and it's very tight to access. The wooden slatted door doesn't seem to close from the inside and we needed someone to push the door from the outside to get the door to close.

• Stephen (5/5): I was only sleeping there after a local event, therefore adequate for my needs at the price. - Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and quite spacious. Check in staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Good location near the centre. Bathroom was very poor. It was really small and in some disrepair - all rather shabby. The shower showed signs of black mildew in the corners and between some tiles, plus the lino covering the floor was split, exposing floorboard beneath.

• Kevin (6/5): Castle vaults Shrewsbury - Convenient location and reasonable price in comparison to other local properties. The downstairs pub disco music was very audible and sounded like a constant banging noise from the room, one of the features of a busy pub on a Saturday night. Needs better soundproofing. The room was quite basic but functional.

Very narrow doorway in ensuite, a corner step up to shower and rip in flooring which we covered with bath mat to avoid tripping and also black mold on ceiling of ensuite

• Barbora (10/5): - Lovely stay above a local pub, very easy to find, just a short walk from the train station, directly in the city centre. The access to the rooms is through the pub (you can come and go as you please, regardless of the opening hours). The staff is super friendly. The room was clean and cozy and bed was really comfy. Because I was visiting in October, I appreciated the kettle and radiator in the room. Bathroom was bigger than I expected and the shower had a really good pressure (and properly hot water :)). The location is very walkable, the castle is just 2 minutes walk and the Abbey is like 10 mins walk. As a solo female traveler, I felt perfectly safe both in the accommodation and in the town. 10 out of 10, if I'm ever back in Shrewsbury, I'll definitely stay again :). I liked everything

• Christopher (8/5): Convenient, comfortable and affordable for a short stay in Shrewsbury. - Convenience! It’s located about 100 yards from the railway station, and close to the middle of town, just a few minutes walk from the shops, many restaurants, bars and other attractions. The rooms are on the second floor, up two narrow flights of stairs and fire-doors, which can be awkward to navigate with luggage, but there is a landing to take a breather before negotiating the second flight of stairs. No breakfast is provided, but there are numerous places nearby for that, and staff are willing to offer suggestions for food.

In a different hotel the pillows were quite hard and i always get a stuff neck because of it. The carpet is quite old and below my bed there the carpet was missing. Which made the room appear less clean than it actually was.

• Andi (3/5): Generally ok won't stay again or recommend unfortunately. - For the price we weren't expecting the room to be lavish, but it looked directly onto the roof top bar which thankfully wasn't open. Furnishings were very dated, mouldy shower, rusty fittingd and cobwebs. The staff were lovely check out easy and plenty of tea/coffee shame kettle was still full from previous occupants. Bed was comfy and clean. Noise was expected as indicated on booking it was above a pub but it wasn't too bad. Access to rooms from bar had no locks but room was secure.
