- oliver (10/5): Amazing place to stay on a beautiful island! - What an amazing place!!! Every detail of the building is incredible, terraces, bar area. You could spend your days just admiring how it’s all built. Victor and Aaron were really friendly and helpful. Room was just right, aircon, nice shower, comfy bed. Really short walk to the main restaurant area. And harbour. Would 100% recommend a stay here!

- Breton (10/5): Amazingly quirky hotel with A+ facilities and service - It’s a quirky Hotel with a lot of view points, neat, organized rooms, and in an amazing location. They sat us down when we arrived and talked over the whole trip to the Galapagos with us. They will absolutely make sure you have a great trip from start to finish and will help you out with everything. Victor and his son Aaron were extremely nice and helpful. A++++ Nothing to note here! - Jerald (10/5): Charming accommodation and superb service - Victor was a great host. He helped set up some really great activities during my stay and gave me great tips. It is only 2 blocks away from the town center which makes it very convenient and away from the hustle of things to have a quiet nights sleep. The WiFi works well in the common space and there is purified water provided. It is a very charming accommodation that is very eco friendly. I would definitely recommend and stay again!

- BOHDANNA (10/5): Nice stay close to everything - A cute hostel/hotel just two short blocks from the main road that runs along the harbor. Hot water and a/c worked well, and there was drinking water available for tea/coffee/water bottles. I did not take advantage of tour opportunites, but they were readily available at the front desk, as were bike and kayak rentals. Thanks for a great stay!

- Lauren (10/5): Fantastic! A must stay!! - Victor and Aaron were incredible! They are perfect hosts and really go above and beyond what we could have expected (they took us to hospital, translated for us, and expected nothing for this - it was out of pure generosity!). The rooms were perfectly cleaned every day, and the towels were the comfiest we had in the Galápagos. There was free tea, coffee, water etc… and even free fresh bananas throughout our stay! There was gas cooking facilities, with sufficient crockery and cooking utensils. Victor and Aaron were also able to help us arrange tours, laundry, and had bikes and kayaks which could be rented. We also loved the decor/look of the hotel which Victor has sustainably and creatively build over the past 30 years - it is truly a work of art, and a must stay in the Galápagos!

- Mulder (10/5): Exceptional - We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel twice during our visit to the Galapagos, and both stays were truly fantastic. The hotel struck the perfect balance in terms of facilities—just the right amount to make our stay comfortable without being over the top. Its location, just a short walk from the boulevard, made it incredibly convenient for evening strolls. What really set this place apart was the exceptional hospitality of the hotel owner. He went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. One highlight was the tour he personally guided through the highlands, where we got to sample a variety of unique fruits we’d never tried before—such a memorable experience! He was also incredibly helpful in arranging tours and offering invaluable tips for exploring the islands. I can’t recommend this hotel enough—be sure to chat with the owner for insider advice on making the most of your Galapagos adventure!
- Mari (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. We booked tours through our accommodation last minute and it was no hassle. Really nice building with lots of atmosphere. Lovely room, had a separate sitting area which was good as we were a couple staying for a week. Beds we're slightly hard, shower was tricky to use. If others were showering, water pressure was down or non-existent. Difficult to regulate temperature also.

Bei Ankunft war weder die Rezeption besetzt noch kam irgendeine Reaktion auf mein lautes "Hola, buenos dias", obwohl ich die Ankunftszeit mitteilte. Dann erhielt ich ein anderes Zimmer als gebucht, Begründung auf meine Nachfrage war, dass man mir ein grösseres Zimmer gegeben habe...naja. Für den Safe benötigte es einen Schlüssel, welcher gem. Aussage des Besitzers jedoch gesucht werden müsse😟. Die Türe liess sich zuerst mit dem mir gegebenen Schlüssel nicht abschliessen (Schloss völlig vermurkst). Kommentar vom Besitzer auf mein Hinweisen, dann solle ich eben nicht abschliessen, es sei dort sehr sicher😟. Man stelle sich das vor kein Safe u. eine nicht abschliessbare Zimmertüre... TV war auch nicht vorhanden, obwohl sowohl im Beschrieb erwähnt u. auf Fotos zu sehen, wollte man mir weismachen, den habe es nie gegeben (komischerweise ist jedoch an der Wand noch die Halterung zu sehen;-). Sand rieselte von der Decke aufs Bett. Ritzen waren mit Klebestreifen versehen. Scheint allgemein in die Jahre gekommen, müsste halt mal was gemacht werden. Besitzer sehr unfreundlich und hatte für alles eine Audrede. Ich machte das Beste daraus, ärgerte mich jedoch, da ich diese Unterkunft der Insel Isabella vorgezogen hatte😒. Positiv, war das gratis Wasser (heiss + kalt) sowie Tee/Kaffee u. Bananen. Hatte auf Galapagos für den Preis viel tollere Unterkünfte u. sogar inkl. Frühstück😊.

Poor communication regarding payment that led to bitter end to stay - we were told they had been waiting for us to pay for an entire day, but no one communicated this to us including when they saw us in person. They insisted on cash at last minute when we were leaving and taxi waiting for us, so had to run and take cash out for extra fee which was stressful. Apparently only one person can use the credit card machine and they were not present.

There was always water, coffee, tea and bananas at our disposal. The location is good, very near to the promenade. It was quite noisy in the room, because of the neighbors. Not enough hangers in the bathroom. A bit hard to regulate the water in the shower. It takes time. The excursions were nothing special.(not the problem of the hotel). They cost too much but the whole organization is very bad, I think it’s the thing with all excursions at the galapagos. As we booked another tour with other agency from the street. The organization was even worse. We also did surf, we booked it at the hotel. The training cost 75$ per person, the trainer was very bad, didn’t help us at all. Was just standing in the water, filming us, but still haven’t send us the videos.

- Floyd (8/5): - The property itself was okay, but there are no amenities here. I selected this place for the area, and that is what I got. It is only a 5 minute walk from the main part of town, and the host is more than able to arrange anything you want to do on the island. I had to make this as a last minute booking so the host had not received my booking when I got to the location. So if you can make sure to book in advance. Also for us from the USA, make sure you have cash for your stay, as I was advised they do not take credit cards.

We're willing to help with finding laundry facilities and money exchange as well as advise on things to do and tour booking around the islands. The building and rooms are so quirky and cool. More importantly, clean and comfortable. A 5 minute walk from the main street and seafront. WiFi is as they warned "Galapagos wifi" 😁 This was not a big issue for me. Was sufficient for the essentials

The room it self was very spacious, however the bathroom was very very small and the water didn't stay hot, and there was no water pressure at all it almost was at trickle. Very noisy, sound was like there wasn't walls there at all. The owner tried to make me pay in Cash.

- Zita (8/5): colourful stay in central lodge - nice and iconic building and architecture. in walking distance to all main sights on island. pool table in main chill out area. pool was not filled up during our stay, although we were told it would be filled. the AC had problems working stable, a relay or interface and overusage problem. it got fixed while we stayed there, after that it was fine.
- Louise (8/5): Very good - Victor and staff were exceptionally helpful, providing information, recommendations and bookings through the onsite travel agency. Victor even went out of his way to rectify an issue with a 3rd party tour operator which was really appreciated. Hostel is well located, close to the seafront and main street with lots of shop and restaurant options. The hostel is very quirky, with a number of different communal areas. The room was a good size, with comfortable beds and air conditioning. The hostel was very quiet so didn’t have much atmosphere, the plunge pool wasn’t in use and the bar wasn’t open - perhaps this is different at other times of the year. The wi-fi was patchy, but this is true across the islands and definitely not specific to this hostel.
- Warren (8/5): - This place really does look like the photos! It's whimsical and interesting, and feels just like being in big tree house! You see something different wherever you look, all the rooms are on different levels, and the steps and railings are all made of branches. There is even a bridge to cross over a "mote", where one of the rooms is. This is the feeling you want when you are in the Galapagos environment - natural, interesting, fun. The only drawbacks are the water pressure and the wifi, but I hear this is a problem everywhere on the island. I was never around at breakfast, so I cannot comment on that.

- Lisa (7/5): Santa Cruz was incredible. stay was just fine - impressive space although quiet when we visited. we expected that it would have more ‘life’ with more customers. while we were there the water was off most mornings when we were trying to get ready for the day. it would usually be back on in the afternoon but go off in the night. we were informed that had been fixed by the end of our stay though. we also spoke to the owner about going on some tours. we were very glad we shopped around though as his prices were significantly higher than the regular prices you could find in Puerto Ayora.

- Joseph (8/5): Unique style in a good location. - Loved the style of the place and the location was very good being close to the main street in Puerto Ayora. Overall was comfortable and clean. If I was to say one drawback, it would be that someone is not always available in person at the reception area (but was given a WhatsApp number to call if needed). When they are there, everyone was helpful, informative and helped as needed.

In addition to being a comfortable and clean hotel, it is close to everything; shops restaurants pubs and the pier. - Philhag23 (5/5): Quirky place - Not the cleanest, cockroaches in the room - The hotel itself was cool and quirky, the main reason why I booked this place. I believe all rooms are individually decorated which is a nice touch. The location of the hotel is quiet but close enough to the fish market and a few restaurants, no where in puerto ayora is difficult to get to by walking it's only a small town. The shower was hot once the tap had been run and I'd say that the WiFi was 'Decent' compared to other hotels on the island. I don't like to write bad reviews, especially to a family run place. However... I felt the price was high for what you got. You pay more because its a quirky building but that's where it ends. Credit cards are not accepted, only cash. The sheets were old and a bit dirty but it's a hostal / 'cheaper' hotel so I don't generally don't have the highest expectations and I'm not fussy. However I woke up in the morning to find not one, not two but 3 cockroaches in my welcome glass.... As I say, I never write bad reviews but I felt this had to be highlighted. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again and I would not recommend to others. I only booked here for one night and I'm happy about that. I feel like a '5' is a fair - generous score.

- Max (10/5): Terrific! - Terrific stay! Loved the interior decor - very quirky and one-off'ish. Staff was super helpful, spoke great English. Good location, just a ~3 minute walk from the center of Puerto Ayora. Hotel provided bottled water dispensers to fill up your bottled waters, which is really nice since the local tap water isn't so clean, and offers free bikes to borrow to get around the island.
- François (8/5): Trés agréable séjour - Hotel familiale authentique, décoration originale et colorée. Proximité immédiate du front de mer et l'animation tout en étant calme. Dommage que le petit déjeuner ne soit servi qu'à partir de 8h (mais possibilité de box pour départ en excursion)
