- Steve (10/5): - Nice and trustworthy staff
- Daryl (10/5): - Very well kept
- Eric (10/5): - Not crowded.
Clean pool.
Delicious and plentiful prepared food dishes.
- Geoff (8/5): - Nice pool area Great outdoor eating area overlooking sea Rooms were clean and comfortable Good air con although old style and noisy Room service good choices and prompt service
It's a bit out if town if no car and not near shops or a beach
- Martin (8/5): - Inconvenient location, no shopping or stores in area!!
- alecbromley (10/5): The best place to stay on Biliran Island - Myself and my wife stayed here for 4 nights. Great stay and excellent rooms, comfy beds and great service.
This must be the best place to stay on Biliran Island.
PS: this the only hotel in the Philippines when you order a boiled egg for breakfast, it is served to you in a real english eggcup! We were very impressed.
- Steve (10/5): - nice place and pretty view
- Manuel (10/5): Good times in Naval!!! - The pictures don’t do it justice. The furniture and cabinets were a bit worn, but the room was clean and comfortable. Reception took care of a couple of small issues I did have. Like most places I would have enjoyed a few more pay
Premium channels. The property was clean and tidy. The pool could use some attention. The restaurant and new bar were excellent. The staff was very attentive and very professional…. Also very cute and funny!! I will staying here again!! Thanks everyone!!
- Eran (4/5): - Hot water did not work
Started construction at 8 in the morning right next to the room.
Bad smell outside the room from public restroom
- Brandon (4/5): - Property is older and not well maintained or kept. Parking sucked. Restaurant had limited food items available from the menu. Breakfast items was also very limited. Pool water smelled like oil / gas. Customer service was non-existent. I should’ve done my homework and gone with other options that I found out about later.
- Charles (6/5): Nightmare - Unexpected very loud parties, no warnings,
No concern for older, family guests.
All parties and party goers were given special treatment.
- David (8/5): - Property was old and dated. But staff were friendly
- Chad (10/5): Well worth the stay - Amazing views of the water. The staff was very friendly and kind. Very relaxing place to go and enjoy time in the province. The prices were great.
- Michael (4/5): - The property has an excellent restaurant. The food we ordered for dinner was delicious especially the grilled fish. The big problem is that because of this it’s very popular and the restaurant is critically understaffed. As for the rooms, they are ok; the aircon is very noisy and not powerful enough for the room size. I booked two rooms but at check-in they insisted that I only had one until eventually they found the second booking. Initially I was given the wrong room (twin beds instead of a queen bed). The property also advertises a ‘pool’ but it was badly maintained and looked unclean. In summary; the restaurant is excellent, the rest of the experience was mediocre.
- carl (10/5): - The hotel in general and or room very clean
- G9761MHalexa (8/5): great stay - There are only a few options in Biliran and i think Marvin's is the best you can get. Restaurant food is decent and portions are generous. Room has the basic necessities. Staff are generally friendly.
- Kevin W (10/5): Great stay - Was there for only a 3 day stay, but i could have stayed longer. Housekeeping kept our room clean, the in house restaurant was handy for something small or an actual meal. Staff was great. Hope to be back again next year.
- Leen (10/5): Peaceful - Such a nice place to stay with a big pool and excellent restaurant right on the water. We really enjoyed morning coffee listening to the waves.
- James (8/5): - Not enough liquor selection in the bar
Staff is very enthusiastic
- Neil (2/5): - Worst hotel ever stayed at. No amenities in the room. No jug. No coffee making facilities. No drinking water supplied no soap shampoo or toothpaste or toothbrush ask reception how I can have a coffee in the morning and they weren’t interested. For the facilities and age of the hotel very very overpriced 0 stars
- ilocanotraveller (8/5): Considering how rustic Biliran is, this is a gem of an accommodation - There is not much to choose from, in terms of accommodation, in Naval. While I might not even consider Marvin’s Seaside Inn as a place to stay in an urbanized city like Cebu or Bacolod, in rustic and rural Biliran, the Inn is a gem.
The ground floor and reception felt like being in a bed and breakfast. There is one long dining table for guests to eat. In fairness, the breakfast options were palatable. I stayed 2 nights so I got to try 2 dishes—corned beef and boneless bangus. I finished both dishes. They don’t have brewed coffee, so I’m glad I brought coffee with me.
The room I got was probably the best because my window overlooked the Biliran Strait. The room was nothing fancy, but the basic necessities were addressed. The bed was comfortable and had soft, white, clean sheets, which surprised me because inns of these kind around the Philippines usually skimp on bed sheets. The towels were also surprisingly of good quality. The aircon was cold and the shower provided hot water, so thumbs up as well. My only negative is the bathroom emitted a foul smell. I opened the window to let the room breath.
I was unable to test the wifi as I depended on LTE data on my phone.
Over all, I enjoyed my stay in Marvin’s Seaside Inn, considering the context of the location.
- clariceelainefr (10/5): Home in Biliran - We had a great time at Marvin’s. The place was well-maintained with Wi-Fi available. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed, good air conditioning, and hot shower. We also had a sea view which was a plus! The restaurant was homey with a sitting area where you could watch TV. Food served was good quality; you’ve got to try the milk shake. The staff was very accomodating and responsive to our concerns. I would highly recommend a stay here when in Biliran!
- 174lutzh (8/5): Good for Biliran - Having travelled Biliran Island for a few days I didn’t expect much anymore, but this is pretty good. Directly on the sea. Room 10B nice view of the sea. room Clean, large, with TV. On the third floor had good cellular could catch up on emails etc. in most of Biliran no wifi and maybe cellular E. If you’re lucky.
- bryanadb (6/5): Not bad - Stayed in a basic room, which looked dated but neat. Beds were comfortable. Hot shower seemed to have malfunctioned or was just slow to heat water. Good thing water temperature from the tap was not as cold as usual. Breakfast was fine but not exceptional. Good in terms of value for money.
- 337cecilieh (10/5): Homey place and great value - One of our favourite places to stay in the Philippines. Clean, friendly, cheap, great kithcen, and not least, the great living room combined with a restaurant. It just felt really homey and relaxed. The staff is helpful and friendly and the fisk kinilaw is amazing :-).
- xavierj380 (8/5): Very comftable for a small city ! - Good Hotel with a clean swimming pool, and our Seaview bedroom was very nice, Quiet place in the suburd of the city but easy to go in the center of the cty, by motorcycle and very good food, Good value ! Thank you
- whyguy3 (10/5): Great Stay. Will visit and stay at this hotel again! - This will be one of my strongest reviews of this hotel. Mainly because a lot of the past reviews were not accurate, or the information is outdated. I did have a local go and view the place prior to making reservations.
Let us start with the basics. The room was clean, simply decorated and had a very comfortable bed. Probably one of the best nights rests in the Philippines I've had in a long time. Good quality mattress and supporting pillows. The air conditioning was the best I've seen operate during the summer time. The travel thermometer had the room at 21 degrees C./ 70 degrees F. I found out later the units are cleaned every three months and it showed by the performance of the aircon in the room. I had no allergic reactions either. The shower had hot water to clean up in the morning.
The hotel is in fact along the seaside and has a lovely view. Photos are posted to prove that. Sitting area so you can enjoy it. The restaurant sells drinks so you can go and sit outside and enjoy.
The hotel is split into two sections due to a road going in between. The main hotel has WIFI, although it was sometimes hard to get a connection. The manager explained it was due to the service (Globe) and not necessarily their equipment. They hope for higher speed for business in the near future. The other side, or poolside, no WIFI. I had a SIM card with Globe, and I was able to use internet from my phone with no problem on that side of the hotel. I could not get reception at the main hotel where the restaurant is located. Just something one may want to know.
The restaurant was good. I enjoyed the food. Breakfast was well prepared, and I had lunch there one day. No issues with the menu or the quality of the cuisine. I enjoyed the quaint sitting area with television near the hotel office. Quite comfortable and was decorated well as if you are sitting in someones nice living area.
I can tell the hotel is constantly doing maintenance and improvements. The pool looked clean and there were people enjoying the pool and outside areas.
The staff was polite and friendly. The hotel allowed us to check in early due to transportation getting us to Naval earlier than expected.
I had a great stay. Will stay there again!
- _kirbyloganrun (10/5): Meet fiancee - I loved Marvins. Very surprised because of some reviews I read, it was very nice, the pool, the food, the staff were all very nice.😄 Will definitely be returning.First of all the air con was very cool compared to many placed I've stayed. The pool was clean and well maintained. The restaurant had excellent good, being from United States, I wasn't exspecting to love the food but I enjoyed some of the Philippine food, very yummy..
- LegendHarry (8/5): One of the best accommodations in Naval - As I was looking for more than a decent accommodation in Naval for my group. Years ago, I only stayed for a cheap inn in Naval. This time, I was mindful of the comfort and convenience of my group.
Unfortunately, there were limited and sketchy reviews on Marvin's Sea Side Inn. My gut feel was to book this place. Good thing I did. Marvin's is a nice resort. The beachside is a good vantage area for sunset watching while the extension has the swimming pool.
Our room was clean and spacious. Although I think they should put in place new comforters. Overall, the experience was great. If I go back to Naval, I will stay here again.
- 469steved (10/5): Stephen - All i can say and its value what i say is what an absolute gem of a find..the hotel is fantastic..the staff very attentive..the cleaning was impecable..i honestly cant fault it..i was there 24 days plus..and would have no hesitation whatsover in returning and i will ..ive stayed in hotels in php costing 4 times what marvins charge and not got a better service than they provide..dont hesitate ..seriously they good and ill be back very soon 😃😀😀😀
- edikdolotina (6/5): Passable but service is not good - I was in this hotel because the provincial tourism office of Biliran had us billeted here.
The place is clean and peaceful. The rooms are okay and neatly kept.
But what I dislike here was the service. For example, we went to their restaurant to have breakfast and the staff were nowhere to be found. After several minutes, when we finally found one, we asked her to clean up the tables at their alfresco section because the cats were already taking over the leftovers of the previous eaters there.
They clean the table alright and went into hiding again. We have to look for them again.
If you have a restaurant service in your hotel, you don't leave clients hanging and wondering if they have a waitstaff. Well- that's an apt word- WAIT. Not good for the service.
By the way, this is a seaside inn but don't consider wading in.
- FredS1530 (10/5): I stayed at Marvins and loved it ....I will be back - The room was great ....the view was great over the ocean ...I would like to thank Ailene, Eunoah and Rose-anne for being so good at reception. A big Hello to Alexer and Rodrigo who do a great job off taking care of Marvins. The kitchen staff were always very helpful and the meals I had were really good. Everyone does a great job there and I will recomend to anyone that is travelling around the Billiran Island.
- dwiz_ph (6/5): Enjoyed the stay - Had need for overnight stay after transit from Manila. Checkin was efficient but there wad no sea view as stated on the reservation confirmation.
Room very clean. Bed comfortable. Bathroom okay.
Enjoyed homely breakfast in the family friendly dining room.
Room rate was a little higher than I expected.
- Scapin87 (8/5): Nice hotel - Peaceful - We went there in order to visit Biliran in the North of Leyte. The accomodation was quite nice, room ok. We had the opportunity to rent motorbike in order to visit the island. The price was alright for everything. The food was nice ( i recommand the fried chicken with french fries and the pancake for the breakfast).
- AGM_Larry (10/5): Wonderful Experience, Affordable and Quality Service - We had our year-end evaluation and 2016 operational planning at Marvin's Seaside Inn and I didn't have any problem in our four days and three nights stay. Good food, clean rooms, friendly and accommodating staff. We were 55 in the group and I did not hear any complaint from the participants. I am a very demanding person when it comes to hotel service and they did not fail me for any of my requests. It is not a 5-star hotel so please do not expect for a white glove services like what the complaints of some reviews here. Marvin's Seaside Inn is clean, safe, and provides a comfortable stay away from home. The Manager is accommodating contrary to the review here. We had complimentary wine and "lechon" roasted pig.
- Janusis (6/5): Good option if you are looking for a clan and cheap stay in Biliran and need to be close to Naval - Have stayed here several times. The rooms are clean, the restaurant is small (2 tables). The menu is good but often items listed are not available. The kitchen staff will go out of their way to accommodate special request. Nice pool (across the road). Try the outdoor terrace on the seawall if you like a nice breeze.
- Dalewones (4/5): Better options in Naval / Biliran - As others have previously reviewed its not the best experience to be had. I paid a month upfront saving 200 peso a night so the room totalled 1300 per night. After the first few nights I would of checked out due to the attitude & rudeness of a couple of staff if I hadn't paid upfront to get the maximum discount. Again as quoted I felt like I was an inconvenience to some staff rather than a paying guest.
The food is ok & one of its good points, the lady chef in the evening is good at her job & pleasant unlike the morning cook. The room is fair with a decent small flat screen tv, bed & shower is ok too. There is only limited internet around the office router, which is taken up by the staff mostly.
I would of rated this place 1 star but the last week things did improve slightly, partly because I was moving on to somewhere new & one of the rudest staff I have come across in 20+ years of travelling Asia came to our door one evening to apologize after I spoke to the manager Lillybeth who is very nice & helpful.
The room maids are excellent & the male staff are good, at times there is a terrible atmosphere around this tired hotel, after doing a on the ground reccy there are better places to stay.
- starman48 (2/5): Ants everywhere, rooms dirty. Food fair but service so slow.. - The staff here acted like they did not care about anything.. Not completely rude just that the did not care... I would not recommend... I have stayed in much smaller, older hotels but the staff make their hotels enjoyable. Dirty rooms, ants everywhere, very hard beds, no amenities not even a in house phone, Staff was rude, slow and just did not care attitude. I heard it was a good hotel, but must have changed hands because now I would not recommend it for even one night.. s them enjoyable places to stay.... Not this one..Avoid....
