Guest Reviews
- Carol (10/5): A perfect stay in a comfortable and welcoming guest house. - A really lovely guest house, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and everything you need thoughtfully provided. The breakfast was self service with a good selection of quality cereals, fruit, yoghurt, breads, pastries and fresh coffee. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Sally (9/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): -
- Patricia (9/5): For a short stay this was a fine place. Quiet, pleasant, in a good spot. - I don't recall seeing an offer of breakfast when I was booking. This did not matter too much as we were there to spend time with our son and daughter in law so met with them for all meals. The house was fine for our needs.
- Amy (10/5): Comfortable and conveniently located - We had an exceptionally comfortable and pleasant stay. Host Caroline was wonderful and warmly welcomed us upon our arrival. Room was well-equipped with kettle and instant coffee, and the bathroom was clean with toiletries provided. Location was fantastic – next door to a strip of shops/restaurants, and had a bus stop opposite which took us to the Sandbanks ferry. There was a good running route to the beaches too, and Poole Park literally right next door was a peaceful place for a walk.
- David (9/5): - Excellent It was all perfectly well and I could not fault it
- Kathryn (10/5): Great location for Poole Hospital - Clean and cozy, well looked after room. I stayed in the single occupancy room, it was ideal for my short stay visit to the area– I’d stay at the property again.
- Ross (10/5): -
- Marian (9/5): A lovely comfortable stay and we'd happily recommend to others. - Breakfast was perfect for our requirements. The location was very good, being a 20 minute walk from the town centre and close to a lovely park with lakeside walks. The host was very welcoming and we had everything we needed. It was useful to have offstreet parking, although this required a little manoeuvring to reverse into a space off the main road. Overall no problem.
- Sharon (10/5): Perfect. Would recommend to friends and family. - The location was perfect. Poole Park was close by which we walked through to get to the town, although there is a bus stop very close too. Our room was cosy. Our bed was comfy. The complimentary continental breakfast was fantastic. It was like a home from home Nothing. Everything was just right.
- Maryam (10/5): Excellent host and super clean home - It was super clean and in a great location. The breakfast was great. Nothing
- Eugen (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Very clean, well looked after accommodation with a great healthy breakfast, nice owners. - Perfect for my weekend, working in Poole. Can’t think of anything, all good.
- Sharon (10/5): Overall stay was great and Caroline was really helpful and friendly . We will definitely stay there again. - It was nice and clean . Location was ideal .. easy reach to the quay and lakes . The shower head and tap on the sink kept spraying but overall it was a lovely modern bathroom.
- Robyne (9/5): Nice and Handy - Caroline was very helpful with directions and provided a great map as well as giving ideas for sightseeing.
Poole Park was a short walk away, a lovely place to walk.
Poole was an easy walk.
Very Central Nothing. Even on a busy road during day noise pollution at night was minimal

- Sahrah (10/5): So enjoyable l rebooked for next week! - Caroline & Adrian have thoughtfully created a comfortable, visually pleasing & peaceful home which they maintain to a high standard. Caroline communicated well during the booking process & was welcoming, helpful & kind throughout my stay. My room & ensuite were immaculate & included useful bathroom 'mini' toiletries. The cold buffet breakfast was generous with a range of cereals, a different freshly prepared fruit salad daily, individually wrapped pastries, an assortment of breads & spreads, & real ground coffee as well as a variety of teas. I particularly liked that guests were able to store their own milk etc in a fridge in the dining room, & that a microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery & cutlery in that room were available to guests without the need to ask. [This section shouldn't have a frown icon next to it, nothing here to frown about :)] Nothing l disliked; I'd have preferred a firm bed but that's just a personal preference. I enjoyed the entire stay at South Rising - so much so that l'm going back in 4 days' time :)
- Bryan (10/5): Accommodation in Poole - Ideal location for our visit to Poole Harbour. Welcoming host. Clean room and good facilities.
- Katherine (9/5): - Great location and welcoming atmosphere. Room was comfortable Nothing really to raise
- Katja (10/5): Great option for solo travellers in Poole - Very clean well appointed room. Appreciated the water being refilled and bed being made daily. I really like the fresh fruit at breakfast. Bathroom was very small but sufficient for a short stay.
- Rick (10/5): Weekend stay - Nice sized room
Lovely massive shower
Close to shops just a short walk away N/a
- Paul (9/5): -
- Rita (8/5): Great location for both town and harbour - Lovely fresh fruit salad and variety of cereals/breads
Enough food for a good continental breakfast.....fresh milk and choice of juices
Caroline is a very nice lady....lent us a laptop charger and holds a selection of phone chargers.
Very close to Poole/Baiter park so able to walk to Poole Harbour Festival and into town.
Regular bus services This is a busy road so has quite a lot of traffic noise. Ear plugs are provided in the rooms
- jayne (10/5): - Caroline is lovely and you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The rooms are spotless. It is not far from Poole Park which is stunning in itself but leads you to the shopping centre and bus station. Buses are regular and inexpensive compared to our Welsh Buses
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colin (9/5): A delightful B&B with a lovely owner. - Great service, great staff, delicious breakfast and lovely rooms. Very close to Poole Park. Noise from traffic, as our room was at the front, near the road.
- Tafadzwa (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - Was a great place to stay very happy with the stay we had
- David (8/5): Disappointed - No cooked breakfast should have been informed I always thought bed & breafast ment cooked breakfast . Dissatisfied Cooked breakfast.
- Hannah (6/5): Adventure seekers - Great location, clean, was able to check in earlier than expected, great selection of continental breakfast, friendly, great directions Shower don't work properly & the traffic noise was horrendous non stop, day and night (we had complementary ear plugs waiting to greet us). Parking was VERY tight (if you're bigger than a size 12 forget it). Thought it was a little off being asked to pay full amount before even being shown to our room when we had already paid for half our stay.
- Monika (9/5): Great place to stay! - Nice hostess, Nice location. Close to the park and harbour. Clean and quiet. Lovely place! All great!
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - Owner very pleasant and helpful and being able to park at the property Traffic noise
- Peter (8/5): - Very good stay. Excellent continental breakfast staff great Front room abit noisy
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Nice little guest house - Lovely guest house, Caroline very welcoming, good breakfast selection. Quiet room with view of Poole Park.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was the front room of a townhouse converted to a bnb so there were no thrills. The bathroom was ensuite and had free wifi which was not secure but did the job if you’re using other security measures.
There was no do not disturb tag for the door and I think someone entered my room while I was still asleep.
- Chad (9/5): Good value accommodation option - Good facilities and communication from the hosts. Nice location close to a pleasant park and not too far (30 mins walk) from the centre of town and train station. The continental breakfast was quite sufficient. It was on a main road but it quietened down at night so did not disturb my sleep, even though my room was at the front of the house,. The TV in the room might be quite small for some, but I had a good book so wasn't bothered.
- Jean (9/5): Very comfy accommodation in great location and all I needed for my stay - Great quiet location in Poole but still close to town, room very comfy and staff friendly and helpful. Had everything I needed though TV reception a bit fragile! Great to have access to fridge in dining room. I was sorry that cooked breakfast is no longer an option but the DIY breakfast options provided were very good although I did not avail myself of them much as I tended to meet with friends for café breakfast in Poole during my short stay.
- Alison (9/5): Warm welcome, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. - Warm welcome. Compact but very clean en-suite room. Excellent breakfast. Good location.
- Gary (8/5): Great place to stay - Great location Nothing
- Lynne (8/5): Very good - The shower
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Nice quiet space with excellent breakfast.
- Cath (10/5): Exceptional - Clean good location very friendly
- Budd (10/5): Lovely quiet peaceful. - I've been to this place 5 times over the last 30 yrs, I just love it. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, quiet and lovely furnishings.. comfortable room and lovely breakfast... great location behind a lovely park within walking distance to the shops. N,/A
- Stephen (9/5): Great place to stay for poole and surrounding area - Very clean, plenty of storage space. Great breakfast. Good location only 10min walk from town centre on bus routes. Owner friendly and helpful
- Richard (7/5): Ideal location for the reason for our visit. Clean, comfortable and welcoming - The location was just about ideal for our reason for visiting but unfortunately too far away from the nightlife. The breakfast was good but I was disappointed that booking.com only told us that a cooked breakfast was unavailable one day before we travelled. The breakfast issue lies completely at the the door of Booking.com in our opinion and not a fault of the hosts.
- Baser (9/5): Really enjoyed staying there. Would stay there again. - Breakfast was great. Lots of variety. Gluten free breakfast provided. Location fantastic. Close to main road so traffic noise
- Brian (10/5): Relaxing. - Clean facility. Great shower. Comfy bed. Good location. Good breakfast facility Car park bit small but adequate for my mini.
Shower cubicle has narrow entry
- Rita (10/5): What can I say?? Loved staying here. Caroline is a fabulous host. Thank you x - Beautifully clean, bright, airy and fresh smelling, onsite parking, comfortable bed, plenty of storage room, good efficient shower, good quality toiletries, incredible attention to detail ,tea making facilities, fridge available for guest use, lovely friendly host, wonderful self-serve breakfast with wide choice of cereals (including gluten free), dried fruits and seeds, superb fresh fruit salad and greek yoghurt plus breads, croissants, small muffins....syrups, sauces and honey, variety of teas/coffee, fresh juice.....
Backs onto Poole Park, Poole Harbour within walking distance and a few local shops just up the road. The road at the front is quite busy but we, personally, were not disturbed by the noise level. The host provides ear plugs in the room
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were friendly, good location and good light breakfast option. Nothing to note.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (6/5): Adequate accommodation, cleanliness good, self serviced breakfast a little boring. - Proximity to the Poole park and bus station. Not sure how I would feel walking around the area in the evening.
- Helen (10/5): Lovely couple of days exploring Poole. - Very clean. Perfect location for the quay and town. Lots of little touches which made our stay more enjoyable including a DVD library and gorgeous fresh coffee at breakfast.
- Sunil (10/5): Highly recommend - Lovely room, nice simple but well stocked self service breakfast, comfy bed, very clean and tidy bathroom. My double room was a good size for me, and the location so near to Poole park is great.
- Brian (8/5): Very good - Very clean and friendly No outside space to sit
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb - Very homely place, we were made very welcome. Nicely decorated and nice self-service breakfast. Nothing
- Carol (9/5): Superb - We would have liked to walk in to Poole Quay so not near enough. Also the road noise was off putting. Otherwise great breakfast and comfortable room
- Daphne (10/5): Wonderful break. Lovely location. Brilli - The location was perfect for sightseeing. Caroline made us so welcome and was so helpful with any questions we had regarding the local area. The accommodation was exceptional, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was all you could wish for, continental and such a great selection . A wonderful weekday break and would highly recommend this guest house when visiting Poole. No complaints at all. Perfect.
- Derek (10/5): Lovely break - We were visiting Poole for 4 nights during June. When we arrived we were able to park on the forecourt which was very convenient. We were greeted by Caroline who was very welcoming. She explained everything that we might need to know about the hotel. Then she told us about the local area, buses etc. The hotel was very clean. There were little touches, such as large bottles of water and tissues, in the room. The cold breakfast was excellent
- Karen (9/5): Caroline makes good look great , a lovely host. - I received a lovely welcome from Caroline the host/owner, when I arrived . She is very knowledgeable about the local area , she gave me a map and explained where all the nearby places of interest were. I was shown to my room, which was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated , Caroline had thought of everything, and there were lots of thoughtful touches like nice toiletries , a hairdryer , hand mirror, tissues etc. there was a good viriety of teas coffees and juices in the room which was replenished throughout my stay . Beds were comfortable with extra blankets if needed. There was a fan if needed, too. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, a good selection of cereals , fresh fruit , natural yoghurt, different breads, jams and marmalade , tea coffee, and juices. Plentiful and delicious. I liked the location of the guest house it is situated a few minutes' walk from Poole Park, which is particularly beautiful and well worth a visit , it is about a 30-minute walk to the Quay and the shops . South Rising is also on a bus route and the number one bus stops opposite the guest house and does a circular of Poole town centre stopping at the railway station , the bus station, the shops, the Quay and other local destinations it's very reliable and runs every 15 minutes .
I enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing stay. As others have mentioned, the front rooms do overlook a busy road, and there is a certain amount of traffic noise. It didn't bother me particularly. This is something that is out of the owners control.
- Lisa (10/5): home from home lovely stay - home from home ,
very looked after ,
lovely breakfast nothing
- Turner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - Already have excellent place to stay

- Clarke (10/5): Exceptional - Very clear with nice owners
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - My stay was brilliant. Caroline & Adrian were very friendly, helpful & very knowledgeable about the area. It is perfectly placed for getting around.i am so happy I found them as I will definitely stay there whenever I get the chance to go down to Poole. Nothing at all.
- Ivor (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast a good continental choice. Owner and family very helpful - highly recommend this establishment - we will certainly use it again
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Very clean place.Bed very comfortable. Nothing.
- Tansy (8/5): Friendly, good value guest house - We arrived before the official check-in time, but were still made welcome.
Our room was a decent size with a good walk-in shower.
Breakfast was in the downstairs dining room on a "help-yourself" basis. Big bowls of fresh fruit and yoghurt were a great addition to the usual cereals and toast. It was also great to have the flexibility of timing - from 6.30am.
Location (see also below) - the good part, being very close to Poole Park and on a good bus route both to Poole harbour and to Sandbanks (for the ferry to Studland). The rooms at the front are noisy from traffic on the main road - although this dies down at night and ear plugs are provided.
- M (8/5): Comfortable and clean - A comfortable and clean place to stay. Poole Park just a short walk away. Excellent help yourself breakfast in the form of fresh fruit and yougurt or cereal, toast and coffee.
The downside is the front rooms suffer from traffic noise from the main road.
- Simon (9/5): Great location for an event on Poole park boating lake, good rooms and friendly staff - Complimentary breakfast was excellent
- Harrington (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): An easy-going, comfortable stay. - I had everything I needed in my room for a comfortable stay. It felt safe for a solo traveller.
- Janet (10/5): Brilliant. Will definitely return - friendly welcome, spotlessly clean, room very comfortable, immaculate decor, superb continental breakfast can’t think of anything
- Victoria (9/5): A friendly affordable place to stay in a nice little seaside town. - It is a comfortable room with friendly hosts. The location is close to Poole Park so a nice place to walk is right there. There are several places to get food close at hand. It’s also not a far walk from the shopping center and high street. It was perfect for my purposes! And I loved having a tiny towel warmer in my bathroom! Nothing
- Elizabeth (10/5): Felt at home warm welcome from my hosts - Excellent plenty of choice Nothing
- Mr (8/5): A weekend away in Poole to visit family & friends. - Lovely little weekend away which we enjoyed, albeit the weather.
South Rising stay was lovely.
Our hosts were great with communication, the room albeit a little on the small side was clean, tidy, comfortable & had everything we needed for the duration of our stay.
Breakfast choice was varied & we both enjoyed it.
Parking is a little tight with other guests staying/parking & tricky as it's on a main Poole road, but as i knew the area i knew that in advance, but nothing to worry about.
Very close to Poole Park to which you can walk into Poole Town.
I'd be happy to stay again in the future.
- Jane (9/5): Very comfortable and friendly stay at, I would go back again. - The breakfast was very good and tasty and menu had a lot to choose from . The location of the guest house was a short walk to the town and the quay. Poole park was very good and lots to see. It was easy to park the car outside the guest house. I would go back to the guest house for another stay. The only thing I did not like was the shower as it was a little small for me.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Excellent - Breakfast was delicious
Room was lovely Nothing - was all good
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Caroline, the hostess with the mostess is brill. Excellent breakfast, gaff is just perfect. If in front beds, road noise can be an issue.
- Ron (10/5): We were very well looked after. - On a bus route, town within walking distance and a lovely park with Cafe's close by Would have liked a Local Pub.
- Sazeeb (10/5): Amazing with cleaned and organized with politeness - The service was really outstanding beyond our expectations. Room was so clean organized and specially the lady who is in charge at the moment she is brilliantly helpful with such a lovely smile on her face all the time. I stayed in room 3 by mistake my alarm didn’t work but she didn’t came and disturb in our sleep and she allowed us late check out and took care of us so nicely. I really loved this place. If I ever visit Bournemouth or Poole next time I will definitely choose her place at first place.
- Barnes (7/5): Good - breakfast was superb and host very friendly. Plenty of variation and choices for vegans and vegetarians. Mine was a single room, very small, no wardrobe. Shower/toilet very cramped As I was only staying two nights the room
was adequate but for longer stays it would be a bit small.
- Penny (7/5): Good location, host was lovely and helpful. - Pretty central for Poole, clean, breakfast was very good
Clean room and bathroom Room was small, Bed was uncomfortable and room hot despite a fan . My description on booking was room with park view but this wasn’t the case, we looked out onto a roof.
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Conway (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Host was helpful. Nice breakfast. Near Poole park. Clean. Room was a little on the small side but ok for a couple of nights.
- Dorothy (10/5): Lovely guest house - Comfortable single room, spotless! Comfortable bed and I slept like a log. The breakfast was amazing. I had a wonderful fresh fruit salad, different each day, with yogurt, and a selection of seeds and dried fruit. There was a selection of cereals. The full English was delicious, beautifully cooked and piping hot and my need to stay gluten free was met without problem. There were also vegan and vegetarian options. The host was delightful and the location very convenient for both the harbour and beaches.
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): Homely guest house in Poole - Caroline is a very friendly and welcoming host who went out her way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay
The house is very homely and spotlessly clean. Our room had a comfortable bed, drinks making facilities, TV and ample storage space for our belongings
Our en-suite bathroom was modern, bright and clean with toiletries and towels supplied.
The breakfast was exceptional with a full English and choice of cereals with lots of lovely fresh fruit. Caroline offered us flexible dining times and even made up some bacon sandwiches to eat on the go whilst working at a local festival
There was free parking provided at the accommodation. Everything was perfect. We have no complaints whatsoever.
- Sue (10/5): Fantastic - It was a very inviting guesthouse, host lovely and helpful . Room very comfortable and very clean .
Serviced every day.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (6/5): Pleasant -
