Guest Reviews
- Mansoor (6/5): - Everything about the hotel was nice, the staff were helpful,
the location is perfect. However we had a difficult time figuring out where to check-in. A clear instruction email should be sent out in English to clarify the location for check-in. The hotel is advertised as Mikaella, but the sign is different. We asked people but no one knew.
Do not book this hotel if you like to sleep in. It is impossible to sleep after 6:00 a..m. There is construction going with very loud banging and drilling. The workers come in early, they have to keep knocking to be let in. During the day it is very loud, so there is no way one can relax.
Remember that you'll be charged for the coffee that is in the room.
- PATRICIA (10/5): - excelente
- Luis (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): - I wish the window opened. There’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom so showers would steam the place up. The only option is to keep your hotel room door open for fresh air.
- Leonid (5/5): If not for location we’d never stay we’d find another place. - Location is perfect The room is pretty minimalistic. No provisions for luggage. The mattress is extremely uncomfortable, thankfully we only had one night. Bathroom/shower is very tiny and cramped. The hotel is on one street and reception is on the other around the corner.
There’s no sign with the name of the hotel anywhere.
- Veronica (10/5): - Great service , perfect location , quiet, clean and safe .
- patricia (10/5): - Todo bien
- Rick (8/5): - Great location, steps away from the main square. Service was outstanding and hotel staff were super friendly. Room was very comfortable and the air-conditioning was terrific. I would most definitely stay again.
- Adriana (9/5): Superb -
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly staff and excellent location. Comfortable beds. Slight smell in room when the ac wasn’t on.
- elizabeth (4/5): - They couldn't find my reservation, noisy, and it felt un safe.
- Jeff (8/5): Family wedding trip - This hotel is very centrally located in the heart of all the ‘action’ of San Miguel. For that reason alone, I would recommend the stay here. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel at a budget price- this would not be your hotel. It is a budget hotel that is undergoing some much needed updating, but it was clean and everyone was very friendly. It is in a very busy part of town, so it was loud and the construction began fairly early so there was not much ‘sleeping in’ with the noise. All things considered, I would stay here again, hopefully after the updating is completed for another stay.
- Cynthia (4/5): - The place has a great location however it’s close a bar/club so is noisy during the weekend in addition to that they do not offer any amenities such as hand soap which is essential and the bed was not clean, in 3 days they never clean up the room.
- Randy (8/5): Excellent stay.I would recommend - Great location near the main plaza
Restaurant and farmacia next door Little loud in evenings from music on square
- Rebeca (10/5): - Todo muy básico pero cómodo
- Florentino (10/5): - Hola
- Rob (10/5): - Excelente servicio, instalaciones limpias
- Mark (10/5): - Very nice hotel just minutes from the cathedral and main plaza, many restaurants and bars, and shopping. Great location. Nancy at the front desk is very nice, friendly, and efficient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Location is at the heart of the city centre - Location is perfect if you intend to stay in the city centre. Room was refurbished, bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. No noise from the street. Excellent choice.
- Maria (8/5): - Great location! Very clean and comfortable. Everything is walking distance.
- Francisco (4/5): - Huele un poco raro
- Ignacio (10/5): - Very good
- Diego (2/5): Terrible! DO NOT STAY - La habitación es demasiado pequeña, podría decir q no cumple siquiera normas de hostelería.. no hay ventilación, el cuarto huele a huemedad muy fuerte .. es un motel , mucho ruido
- Linda (8/5): Mikaella is a nice place to stay. It was extremely affordable for our stay. We would return and stay there again. - The property is located ideally to everything minutes walking distance to all locations.
There is a Very Good restaurant downstairs.
The rooms are simple but comfortable. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful with any needs. The first room we got had a terrible smell to it. We requested another room and for a small upgrade we were given a nicer room.
It was a bit noisy in the early hours of the morning. People could be heard coming back from being out late. There was a baby crying. All in all it was still a great value.
- Henrietta-lily (1/5): Booking.com helped us through this but the hotel refused to communicate or respond to booking.com or us. I wouldn’t reco - We stayed in this hotel over the Christmas period,we were so excited for our stay. Sadly we booked a room with a window,we specifically requested this to get ventilation through, upon arrival they gave us a room/bathroom with no window,no light coming in and our bathroom had sewage pipes coming out of the ground in the bathroom which led to a horrendous smell throughout the bedroom and bathroom, this made our bedding, clothes and whole space smell of fish and sewage. The hotel wouldn’t even speak to us,wouldn’t change our room or even downgrade us to many of the empty rooms they had,we reached out multiple times even asking for a candle but they told us this wasn’t their problem and maintenance weren’t available and couldn’t help. It was Christmas so there was no where else for us to move to stay and they wouldn’t refund us any of the money. Extremely sad that this hotel was so terrible, especially at Christmas time.
- Patricia (1/5): Terrible - Not a thing Dirty, noisy.
They couldn’t accommodate my elderly dad needs, even though they made us believe they could
- Luis (10/5): - Muy centrico. La pasamos muy bien. Todo esta muy cerca
- Amy (8/5): It’s super loud! - The staff was friendly and responsive to our requests. We stayed here 5 nights over Christmas. It’s in a prime location near the center and everything. There’s a drugstore right next door to buy snacks and extra waters. We read the reviews on how loud the street noise is and it’s all true. We expected some noise but it’s LOUD until almost 3am and it starts back up around 6:30 am. For this reason, we would not stay here again if we were to return. Our room was missing basic necessities when we first checked in like toilet paper and towels for two people, but they were quick to respond. It’s a beautiful town with lots of restaurants and cute shops all within a few blocks.
- Shawn-pan (1/5): Don't go. (I can only help you guys this far) - The location Everything else. There is no ventilation in the bathroom and the room is NOT as described on Booking. It is not 215 sqft at all but rather 100sqft. This is very disappointing.
- Jennylynd (8/5): - Great location close to the main attractions.
Well worth the price.
Amenities should include a chair in the room so one doesn't have to sit on the bed to eat. No fridge, microwave, or hot water. But I guess this is a budget hotel
- Beto (8/5): - Excelente ubicación
- Mark (10/5): - Great staff, friendly and helpful, especially Nancy. Located in the heart of the historic district it is very walkable. Close to the church, many restaurants; coffee shops; bars and rooftop bars; shopping etc.
- Fernando (10/5): Amazing location and views - Amazing location and great hotel with views from the rooftop.
- Erika (10/5): - Great service
- Eric (7/5): Very central, comfortable, and affordable. But no frills. - The location is ideal, central to many cultural venues and wonderful restaurants. Large and comfortable bed. This hotel is a great value for the price point. The hotel was going through renovations, so this review may not be accurate once the remodel is done. Our group (three seniors) were originally placed in rooms on the 3rd floor with no elevator. After some arm twisting, we got two of our rooms switched to the 2nd floor. It takes a few minutes of water running for hot water. Little to no furniture in the rooms.
- John (10/5): - We like staying here. Great location.
- Khan (5/5): Passable - The location was very nice! Very close to the couch and all the cafes and food plac s Constant construction happening at the place made it difficult to take naps, and the room was very cramped.
- Elda (10/5): - Todo excelente.
- MONICA (10/5): - Best location!!!
- Jose (8/5): - N/A
- David Mitchell (10/5): - If you don't mind the noise of constant festivals in the centre of town, then this place has everything, including a nice rooftop deck. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
- Adriana (10/5): - centrico , muy bueno
- Jose (10/5): - .
- Darby (7/5): Good -
- Guzman (9/5): Superb -
- alejandro (2/5): - Received an extortion call at 4am trying to get money from me. The hotel staff gave my number to these people. Asked locals the next morning and it is a usual scam where tourist are falsely accused of illicit activities and asked to pay a bribe or else…. Phones are usually leaked by hotel staff. Fortunately I caught on early enough not to fall for it. Never will give my number out when registering at a hotel again.
On another note, bathroom absolutely smelled awful, like sewers. Room was not as clean as it could be.
If I ever go back to SM will definitely be staying at chain manages hotel, although more expensive it is safer.
- Hau (9/5): Excellent. Good quality room. Well-furnished. Nice location. - Very nice well furnished modern hotel with air-conditioner which you need to turn on because there are no windows to the outside (only windows to the inside which may not be safe to open at night with people walking by). The bed was comfortable and the hotel looked new and well-furnished (decorated in the industrial style).
Nice rooftop area with toilet and coffee in the morning. You can relax there with tables and sunchairs. Good spot to take pictures of the nice Citibank Building opposite the street with good WIFI. They gave me a present when I checked out. A small Angel decoration.
Excellent location. 1 to 2 minute walk to the main cathedral. Small reception area on the G/F where a restaurant and a shop are also located. The stairs up are a little bit narrow but manageable. The road outside the hotel is a walking street, so the taxi / Uber cannot stop right outside the hotel, but it is easy to walk up the block. The road is open for cars early in the morning.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Todo perfecto
- Walli Kay (10/5): - You can't beat the location of this place! Just steps from the main square of San Miguel De Allende. Literally everything I wanted to see was right there. Good food at the restaurant, Drug store downstairs, and Starbucks two doors down.
- Manuel (10/5): Estancia - Muy bueno como siempre
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Brenda Stephany (10/5): - Hotel Mikaella is in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. It is steps from la parroquia. They have available rooms with views to the parroquia and gardens. The rooms are very clean and the staff is so friendly
- Gabriela (10/5): - Todo muy bien
- Michel (6/5): Noisy (VERY) but super well located - Noisy noisy noisy. (Quiet from 12am-7am).
The best thing about this place is the location. The bed was comfy.
The rooms are courtyard view that open onto a general commercial center. So there’s art galleries, a beauty salon, pharmacy and a restaurants. You hear ALL the comings and goings of EVERYONE. Don’t plan on a midday nap.
- Rodrigo (9/5): Very good. I enjoyed it and if I go back to that cuty I would definitely stay in this hotel. - Location, view, air conditioner, value and a constant hot water to shower. They don’t have ice, glasses and the room could have a mini fridge (at least the suite).
- Dmitry (8/5): Very good -
- Telma (10/5): - You can’t beat the location. Staff is friendly. Comfortable, king beds. Appreciated the complimentary coffee on the terrace.
- luciarV8829EO (10/5): Great location! - Dolores at night was very helpful. She was very attentive. In the morning the staff was also great, I didn’t get her name but she was equally attentive!
The hotel is in a great location. So close to everything… we walked everywhere and had no problem finding food or shopping.
Thank you Mikaella staff ! We can’t wait to come back 😃
- jose (10/5): - Great place to stay right in the middle of it.
- Maria Teresa (10/5): - Everything is perfect about the hotel and at 20 steps from the main plaza and church
- Kana (8/5): Very good -
- Francisco Javier (10/5): - Muy buena unicacion
- Jorge (10/5): - Great place
- Curious4027 (10/5): Nice hotel. Close to central plaza - Very clean hotel and rooms. Bang for your buck. Very near everything. Friendly service. We will come back again. I highly recommend it.
It’s close to everything. Walking distance to la Parroquia De San Miguel Arcángel which I think is the main church of the town.
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Lyn (10/5): Exceptional - AIR-CONDITIONED ROOMS, minisplit you control temp yourself by remote! Loved this hotel with modern amenities, friendly attentive staff, Bugambilia restaurant downstairs, and complimentary hotel coffee (till noon) and all day water garafone on one of the multiple terraces. Amazing location near Jardin, all the action, and several air-conditioned restaurants (El Pegaso, Aquí Castilla, Don Taco Tequila, Garufa). I actually live in San Miguel de Allende, but with the high 90F's May 2024 heatwave, and excellent discount online, I booked 5 nights to treat myself to A/C and close to things to do. The night music noise level due to a nearby nightly Karaoke bar and a weekend disco was just background noise to me and I always have earplugs when in Latin America for sleeping, so no problem. I stayed in a large Family Suite with balcony overlooking the street, table with chairs, lots of storage, and room safe big enough for my laptop. A splurge. Smaller A/C rooms looked like a good value, too. This may become an annual stay-cation week in May, or at least until A/C minisplit is available in affordable rental apartment in San Miguel.
- Jose (2/5): Is hard to say - The location only No parking, to small for the price bed to old, bed make noise
- Ana (10/5): - Very clean and friendly!
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional - The room is nice and clean, with a really big bed and a beautiful bathroom. In the end, we were struggling to pick up our luggage because of the lady at the reception
- Eduardo (8/5): Very good - See ratings , excellent location and quaint hotel. Noise from adjacent bar but there is no way of avoiding it if you want to stay downtown
- Marisela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brenda (8/5): Very good -
- Imelda (9/5): Good location, but unable to get in touch with front desk - Location It has no phone in the room to call the front desk, and when you call from your cell nobody answers!! Eve tho you know there’s someone sitting there. Our sink drain wasn’t working,(which was a quick fix) but having to go up and down the stairs it’s not easy when you have bad knees!! And there’s no rooms on the first floor. And yes we tried in different occasions, no one would answer at the front desk. So if you have bad joints be prepared to go up and down the stairs to get in touch with the front desk.
- Maria (3/5): The hotel should make sure that rooms facing the Main Street should seal proper to avoid night loud - Location ok unfortunately I was given a room with a broken window and the noise at night with bars and loud music was unbearable. Was not able to rest and sleep as the bars played music until 3am. Very disappointing. Windows broken, not closed properly and the noise outside too loud at night. Could not rest .
- Caryn (4/5): Great location with a major issue. - The staff was very pleasant. Yet when she opened the door to the room there was a foul odor. Turns out the shower is not plumbed correctly and emits methane gas. It was so bad we had to open the door and window and let it air before going into the room. I covered my nose and mouth with a cloth when I went in. I only showered a few times because the gas smell was horrific.
- paulmN3433QJ (10/5): A week at Hotel Mikaella in San Miguel de Allende - My wife and I spent a week at the Mikaella Hotel in San Miguel de Allende and it was perfect. Just around the corner from the central square and El Jardin, the location was perfect for walking to all the main places we wanted to visit, including amazing restaurants, shops, churches. The staff was attentive, cleaning our room everyday. Very safe, clean, and comfy. Would definitely stay there again.
- Emanuel (4/5): subpar hotel - Power kept going out. Room was very tiny. Water was only cold in shower the first night. Second night the water finally got hot. Windows don’t give you much privacy as it’s a courtyard and you can see others across and vice versa. PS. There was a club next door and music was thumping until 4 am.
- Antonio (8/5): Very good -
