Guest Reviews
- Julian (7/5): Clean and adequate - Traditional Breakfast- sausages v poor quality
- Peter (8/5): - No Comment No Comment
- PG (10/5): Clean, Tidy and friendly - I didn't stay there it was for one of my men, he was very satisfied, in fact he messaged me to say how much he liked it.
deffinately worth a revisit. Nothing, as always, its down to price, but it seemed to be good value for money. well worth a second visit, we have been back a few times since.
- Damian (5/5): Passable - The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was of a very poor quality - breakfast and dinner
- Frances (9/5): Great choice for our one night stay in Wellington - Great location and really friendly staff.
- Nigel (9/5): - Very easy check in , nice comfy room. Very good breakfast. Nothing
- chris (9/5): -
- Breda (8/5): - Nice big comfortable room in the centre of town My position, right over the main pub-- so noisy till 11 pm , but to be expected !! The good parts outweighed this.
- Michael (10/5): - Friendly, good atmosphere, nice food and cosy room.
- Derek (9/5): - In the town
- Graham (8/5): Will book again. - Pretty much everything, incliding the superb breakfast. The lack of parking.
- robert (8/5): One night in Wellington - Great location for what we needed, basic double room but good value for what we paid. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Not a place to go if you want fancy but definitely somewhere I would use again for a night away. Sound from the bar coming up into the room but thankfully it was early closing that night
- Craig (10/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): Really great location, will stay again - Great location, friendly staff, comfortable facilities and good food Separate bathroom
- Kevin (9/5): Great pub stay - Nice room above a pub in the centre of town, walking distance from everything. If it had its own parking it would be perfect, parking is free overnight Saturdays nearby.
- Heather (7/5): Good for a stopover. No meals Sunday evenings. - Well placed for a stopover on the way down south to Cornwall from the Midlands. Comfortable and spacious room and reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking is not on-site but there is the facility to park for a minimal amount in the car park behind the buildings on the other side of the street. We'd stayed here in the past and had a very good experience so expected a little more than we got. Admittedly, our previous stay was in May/June and on a Saturday and not a damp Sunday evening in March so it's not difficult to see why that would make a difference to the overall atmosphere. However, we were disappointed to find that there were few people around and no evening meals served on a Sunday. Not a problem in the end as there are a few handy restaurants within walking distance locally but we'd been looking forward to the meal we remembered. The breakfast we remembered was also not on offer either - just a basic English cooked breakfast and a meagre selection of cereals.
- Dean (8/5): A great and enjoyable stay. - Breakfast was cooked really well and it was tasty. The room was of a great size with modern aesthetics and a newly refurbished bathroom. I had dinner here twice and both times it was great. You could tell that it was properly cooked and not in a rationale oven like other hotels - if you wanted a steak, you tasted the griddle flavour (Which I did and thoroughly enjoyed). Nothing negative to comment on.
- Andrea (8/5): - Booked stay for Work.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
Breakfast was added to room, so good value for money.
Parking & dining on site.
- Critcher (9/5): Great stay - Great room and friendly staff Bar needs a bit of tlc
- Andy (10/5): Fantastic room, excellent food, friendly locals (thanks to Roger for the chat!) and great stay - already booked for my b - The team were amazingly awesome. Welcoming, friendly and very, very accommodating to my every need - even making me a sandwich to take to work for lunch - thank you. Nothing. Everything was great
- Matt (10/5): Frequent stayer at Green Dragon - The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. Mel on breakfast always makes me feel very welcome. I work long hours and if I get back after closing time they leave a key in the lock box for me. Highly recommend. .
- Allan (10/5): -
- Kim (10/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): - Friendly staff, nice food, comfortable bed.
- Henry peters (10/5): Lovely comfortable rooms lovely atmosphere will be staying again soon - This is the second time we have stayed at the Dragon the first time at Christmas we had dinner there it is excellent excellent. The staff are very obliging of a comfortable and clean will be staying again very soon Only criticism I would say is the double means are slightly on the small side could do a bit more variety on the breakfast i.e. Porridge and poached eggs, but for the price it was included in our rate this time so you can't grumble really will definitely have it again
- David (8/5): Really good - Friendliness and helpfulness of everyone Had great character
- Rachel (1/5): Worst night away ever. Hardly slept. - Good central location Room was freezing all night (and it was February) as radiator did not come on until 8am. Had to sleep in coat as duvet was paper thin.
Single pane window was rattling all night and could hear everything going on downstairs and outside.
Room was grubby (see photo of marks on wall), cobwebs in room and neither of the 2 dirty TV remotes worked.
Could not wait for morning to come so could get out of the place.
- Trevor (10/5): Friendly, clean, comfortable accommodation - Friendly, clean, comfortable, convenient.
- Colin (8/5): - Comfy bed Noisy downstairs
- James (1/5): Stayed elsewhere - Paid on arrival. Then went to room. Freezing cold, no hot water or heating. Spoke to staff who then said ah yes there are problems with boiler! Requested refund and found another hotel that was actually able to provide hot water and heating on a freezing day!
- Simon (10/5): Fantastic location, spacious room and top rate breakfast:) - Friendly staff, delicious food and comfy bed. Leaving
- Lydia (6/5): Very basic and dated, have low/mediocre expectations - Decent sized room (room 5), comfortable bed and pillows Carpets were dirty. Very dated generally. Bright lights in the courtyard all night. Early morning loud extractor woke us up. Booked breakfast for 9:30 as we were told breakfast was 8-9:30am; chef wasn’t very happy when serving breakfast about 10am came to tell us that last breakfast was 9:30am because of cooking roasts even though this wasn’t our fault. Cheap ingredients and food, would probably say Wetherspoons is better quality. For £99 I’m not sure that it was worth the quality or nights sleep. Purely stayed here for convenience/location for a wedding
- Yunjuan (10/5): -
- Dennis (4/5): First appearances charming, but ended in disappointment. - At first I thought it was value for money. Although the room was small it was cosy. The breakfast was great! Food options for vegans good. The TV's remote control was not working. Turned out it was the wrong one and there wasn't another so I had to get up and manually change the channels, which meant I couldn't totally relax.
The bed was terrible! The feeling of the wire structure in the mattress made it impossible to sleep. Common to cheap mattresses. I had to sleep in my clothes on the duvet to find any comfort. The manager should sleep on it and guests can have his.
- Simon (10/5): Relaxing delightful place, where you finish with a delicious breakfast - Fantastic stay Nothing
- Richard (7/5): Short weekend stay. Pleasant comfy bed a nice but basic breakfast offer. Would stay there again. - Staff were pleasant and room was nice. As it was warm a fan was placed in the room which was nice The bathroom sink plug has rust on it so needs replacing or repairing. The shower head holder needs tightening so it can be raised for taller guests. Otherwise the facilities were nice.
Other residents need to be mindful when retiring at end of night as rooms are close to each other.
- Antony (8/5): Great pub in excellent location zo visit Wellington... - Location, good pub grub... Nothing
- Adrian (3/5): Worst night ever - Breakfast and friendly staff. Noisy location. Single sized room with a double bed squeezed in. Very cramped. Needs updating and decorating.
- Jasmine (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Alex (9/5): -
- Roy (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Laura (10/5): - Fantastic hosts, clean and comfortable rooms, incredible breakfast and great value for money Nothing
- Jamie (10/5): Great value - Yes everything was great All perfect
- Derek (9/5): - VERY NICE NOTHING
- Donald (8/5): - Proper pub and good pub grub
- Emma (10/5): -
- John (8/5): Nice place good location in town centre - No food was available the kitchen was closed that evening Would be better if food was available
- michael (10/5): - Lovely room, nice breakfast
- Wendy (3/5): wouldn't return - staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast poor quality. no selection available i.e. cereals was just muesli, cartoned orange juice which was at room temperature. Electrical health and safety hazarded, ie smoke alarm not connected, black mould in bathroom, water in kettle. No parking facilities available. including no drop off point for anyone with a disability
- debra (9/5): - Comfy bed, great location, friendly staff
- Angela (8/5): - Comfortable room. Very quiet. Great bathroom. Comfortable bed..
- Ady (9/5): - Comfortable room great staff No parking
- joe (6/5): -
- Ogundimu (6/5): -
- Stuart (7/5): Great location ,unfortunately standards have slipped since last visit , which is a shame . - Great location in town, perfect what we wanted Understandably noisy in evening, but noise in our room stopped us sleeping and went on well into the night.
Second night was awake until 3-45 with people banging doors and moving around within the building, shouting etc. I actually thought someone was breaking into the hotel after hearing’ are you in yet’ shouted from below my window!
On check out I wasn’t able to find anyone to report my concerns to.
Feel the staff managed well but could maybe do with a more experienced ,firm hand at the helm !
Basic things like cleanliness and food quality could be better. Our room was not hoovered before or during our stay, not housekeeping service whatsoever during our stay.Ive stayed before and standards were a lot higher.
- Henry peters (7/5): Lovely food friendly staff would definitely stay here again, but a bigger room as the room was quite -
- Luci (10/5): - Excellent comfy room , high quality cotton bes linen , lovely en suit bathroom . Very good warm heating as I came in December . Cosy and quality country pub feel. Lovely staff. Good breakfast and lunch offerings. Great location in wellington town center. Thank you , I will visit again. Nothing.
- Petra (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Excellent 1 night stay would deffo stay again - Breakfast wad quality , room was lovely and warm , everything was really good q
- Dean (9/5): Very comfortable and it was 3rd stay and more booked - Friendly staff and patrons Nothing
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Luke (10/5): -
- Chris (6/5): Convenient and reasonably priced place to stay in Wellington - This is a traditional pub with rooms available at a good price and with a generous breakfast. Rooms are small and there is an external fan or refrigerator that is noisy.
- Lowena (3/5): The room made me uncomfortable as so dirty - Staff were friendly The room was dirty.
Not hoovered. Splashes of coffee on the wall.
Dirty marks on the walls.
Black mould between the tiles
Mattress uncomfortable and springs coming though
Carpet was not hoovered.
- Celmira (10/5): I would like to be there longer - Quite, calm, lovely food, nice and polite ladies stuffs. I being surprised to be inside a pub, I thought was at next door, but that In the end wasn’t a problem because I didn’t heard anything, any noise.
- Tracey (8/5): -
- Amy (5/5): -
- christopher (7/5): was fine for what i needed - was all ok nice hot breakfast no parking there had to use a public car park pay and display method
- J (4/5): -
- Mac (10/5): Great Hotel within local amenities. - Great location with several bars & restaurants within a short walk, parking just a short walk away from 5pm to 9am. Room was clean & bathroom spacious a good large shower cubical. Breakfast was freshly cooked & very nice to start the day with. When back in area will be on my list to stay again.
- Gary (10/5): Warm welcome - Staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was on the ground floor on the street side, however I was not disturbed and slept very well. The breakfast was cooked to order and arrived hot and well presented. If in the area, I would definitely stay there again.
- Matthew (7/5): Would stay again - Comfortable rooms Nothing
- Kate (7/5): - Well placed location, the staff were polite and helpful, checked us in with ease.
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Jean (8/5): - The staff Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Martin (7/5): Reasonable for price paid. All people we came across were very pleasant and accommodating - Parking or lack of it.
First day breakfast was disappointing so this reflected in our choices for the rest of the stay.
- Nigel (8/5): -
- Shirley (8/5): - Helpful staff.
- Thomas (9/5): -
- David (8/5): It did all what we wanted it for - Everything was fine
- Philip (7/5): Comfortable old pub - Friendly staff, proper old pub, good beer, central location, cheap parking around the corner My room hadn't been vacuumed.
- Philip (7/5): -
- Mark (6/5): Handy location in town centre. Great breakfast. - Great location and great breakfast. Separate bathroom but shower was powerful and hot. Good selection of toiletries, and tea and coffee in room. The choice of channels on the smart TV was much better than in most hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel isn't quite as good as it used to be. The light in my bathroom switched between too dim to see by and not working. I reported this but it wasn't fixed. Likewise the lock on the bathroom - it was a separate room and whilst it locked from the inside, it would not lock from the outside and so was not secure.
There were also a couple of other quibbles I didn't report. The highest shelves in the room were dusty and so hadn't been cleaned for some time and that was also true around the window in the bathroom. One of the walls in the bedroom had some stains on it - tea, or something.
Having said that, these are all things which are fairly minor and I'm sure will be sorted.
- IAN (8/5): -
- Roxanne (10/5): Quirky - Quirky and comfortable
- Steve (8/5): - Room was large and comfy. Staff welcoming and helpful. Climb to the room for a couple of 70+ was a bit difficult. Stairs lacked a handrail at the top making it difficult for my wife
- GeoWG (10/5): Welcoming and comfortable traditional inn. - Very friendly and welcoming. The Green Darsgon feels like a traditional inn with modern facilities in the centre of town. We all slept well and the veggie breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended.
- david willoughby (10/5): - Friendly staff,nice comfortable place to stay,nice breakfast.
- Steve (10/5): -
- PAUL (8/5): - Place is a little dated and it was noisy at night due to being over the pub and also busy in the morning with it being on a main road. No car park but on street parking up to 8am. Staff were very friendly though and made our stay.
- Roger (3/5): Although reasonably priced there is no excuse for the failure in basic hygiene and amenities, the staff were polite but - Location No hot water
Empty shampoo/gel bottles left in shower, not just 1 or 2
The toilet would benefit from a drop of bleach
Even the bacon and I’m sure the sausage must have been cooked and kept in water as it was running out when cut
- maggie (8/5): -
- Derek, HoT (8/5): Another good stay at The Green Dragon - A warm welcome. Breakfast and dinner good and good value.
- Marcus (8/5): Good Pub Grub - Nice rooms above a pleasant pub with excellent food
- Steve (4/5): Below average stay - Location worked well Dog running around, cocked his leg at a table. Staff advised but all they did was scold the dog, nothing to sterilise the area. Breakfast was ok but a bit tasteless. Room wasn't cleaned in a two night stay.
- Fiona (8/5): Nice comfortable stay, with helpful and friendly staff and generous sized bedrooms - Perfect location, staff were really friendly, good size rooms, breakfast included so great value for money. Found an old pair of socks from a previous guest under the bed.
- Linda (5/5): - Bed poorly made so I remade it. The douvet had definitely seen better days! Floor needed a vacuum.
- Richard (9/5): Good spot, clean, friendly would stop again. - Nice little pub with friendly welcoming staff. Room was perfect and clean. En suite was a good size also clean. Good location in town and great for my work trip. Breakfast was good. I also stopped for evening meal, I recommend the gammon!! Nothing, good value all round.
