Patio overlooking the gardens

- Aundrea (7/5): -
- David (9/5): - The screen to our balcony had several taped repairs which was inconsistent with the quality of the room and furnishings
- Ursula (9/5): Luxurious but comfortable. - Rooms are spacious. , nicely decorated. Very clean. It’s expensive so everything should work perfectly. The scale needed batteries. We were not able to take a bath bc the drain could not be closed.
- kevinsC6666IN (10/5): Incredible, - Wow. All we can say is wow. We’ve stayed at hotels all around the world and up until now the best experience we’ve had is at a four seasons in Buenos Aires. Several relais chateau’s have come close but I’ll be honest when I say this stay at the Bruce has topped them all. The rooms are amazing over 600sq feet and full of amenities. Bed linens chairs balcony with comfy chairs. A wet bar and fridge with Perrier and Avion. Bottled water all around the room. Even apples and treats.
The bathroom is line no other we’ve had in a comparable room. It’s dead quiet.
Coffee and tea delivered every morning when you want it. Breakfast is included and you can have anything and everything from smoked trout eggs Benedict anyway, porridge toast fruit. You name it. They have it.
Room serviced twice a day with a lovely turn down with treats delivered. There’s a tea and coffee “room” right across the hall with a nespresso machine frother and tea and biscuits. And a 24 hr cookie hotline 4 different kinds delivered in minutes. 24 hrs a day.
The staff are incredible. They know you by name the minute you check in
There is literally nothing I can think of they don’t have or do.
We had the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing this evening and it was spectacular.
Service food everything.
We have seen 3 of Stratford’s musicals and plays this visit and the stay here just made it perfect:
We can’t wait to come back in the fall.
Honestly…..this hotel has ruined hotels for us.
I can’t imagine any other topping this.
Thank you The Bruce and your staff from the front desk to the house keeping and the restaurant staff for making this visit and our 44th anniversary so special
See you soon
Kevin and Cheryl !!!
- Frances (8/5): A lovely evening. - The resistance pool. The gym. The service of a courtesy car to the theatre and arranging taxi service back Suggestion- The bar or late evening service could stay open later than 11:00 so theatre patrons returning to the hotel could enjoy a drink or late night snack.
I called the hotel to make a reservation, only to be told there were no rooms. I then looked at Booking.com and there was one. I couldn’t see what was included in the package that I booked.
The hotel, upon checking seemed confused why the booking had occurred the way it had.
- Keiver (10/5): Stratford gem enhanced our weekend experience! - Beautiful hotel, complete with unexpected amenities, incredible staff and service!
- Lisa (10/5): - What a spectacular stay my Mom and I had at The Bruce! The suites are just stunning in design and layout. You will enjoy every possible amenity while you are there. From the cookie hotline to the lovely balcony and the beautiful decor in your room and throughout the hotel.
What makes the hotel even more special is the staff! What wonderful, charming and caring people they all are. They all go above and beyond to make you feel extremely welcome and as though you are family. My Mom and I will be return guests, and cannot wait to stay at this amazing spot next year!
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely property and staff.
- Michael (10/5): No place better. - We always stay here when in Stratford.
- Elisa (10/5): - It was a lovely experience! Staff was amazing.. perfect ambiance..I will be back!!
- Vivian (10/5): - Customer service was invented at The Bruce. If you want to feel important and pampered, stay at The Bruce.
- philipfW6885ON (10/5): Great experience - Beautiful hotel. Fantastic food. Service was amazing. Looking forward to going back. I drove there in an electric vehicle and they had a charger for the car too. Great location with fun things to do inside and outside the hotel. The pool and hot tub was beautiful too.
- Keith & Ruth Ann (10/5): - We had a lovely two night stay at the Bruce.
- cmikey (10/5): THE BRUCE – WHAT A WONDERFUL MID WINTER STAY - We have travelled to Stratford many times over the years, and we have stayed in many of the hotels in Stratford. But of all our stays, which were always good, none came up to the standards of The Bruce. Even compared to the very many hotels we have stayed in around the world, The Bruce is by far one of the best.
The outstanding part of our stay was the service. It began as we drove up to the main entrance where we were greeted by staff and it continued at the front desk and through to our hotel room. The staff took our car and parked it in the garage. Our luggage was taken and when we arrived at the room we were given, at our option a description of the room and its amenities which really enhanced our stay considerably. It was worth listening to the outline since it answered any questions that we had and provided us with information that we would not have readily received otherwise. For example, “the cookie” line on the phone – available at any time when we had the urge.
The room also exceeded our expectations. It was larger than most hotel rooms, a great king bed as requested, a large washroom with a private toilet, separate sink areas and large walk-in shower. Great television which included cable as opposed to just the internet options. We had our own French press coffee maker as well as a pantry just across the hall from our room stocked with Nespresso. The room also had two comfortable sitting chairs with an ottoman. You don’t have to go far to find delicious fresh apples, in the hall, at the front desk and in the pantry.
There was a super lounge/bar area just at the entrance to the good-sized dining room. Both were very comfortable. The food was excellent, a good choice, with good portions, well-presented and delicious. The included breakfast was served in the same dining room. The bacon, sausage and eggs were delicious along with the sourdough in house bread/toast.
We really can’t say enough about The Bruce. There was nothing that the staff could not do for you. We had a very comfortable few days at the end of February for my wife’s birthday which was thoroughly acknowledged by the hotel staff. We are just planning when we will return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
- Joe (10/5): - Perfect.
- Aaron (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here to celebrate a milestone birthday, and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! Every detail was carefully attended to and the service was impeccable. The room was spacious and quiet. There is even a button on the phone to order fresh cookies! We will definitely be back.
- George (10/5): - Amazing hotel, the devil is in the details, well done!
- travellingsinclairs (10/5): Wonderful Spa Like Facility Get Away - Returning guest I checked out the facilities more carefully and the Bruce is a fine Hotel and with a little effort could rate as a first rate spa. The Pool and Hot Tub are excellent and they lack a Sauna and perhaps an outdoor hot/cold pool.
But all in all you go to the Bruce to be well pampered in an elegant fashion. Loved complimentary apples everywhere you turn. Health and Spas go together.
Fully functioning Restaraunt and Bar to relax in an a Lobby that speaks of a Spa oriented meeting place with games and a fireplace.
In the rooms spa like shower and robes. Everyone is treated first class with very nice staff, a well maintained facility and pleasing atmosphere.
- Robert (10/5): - .The facilities and staff are first class. The rates were a bargain for the quality of the stay. There was absolutely nothing that could be improved. We will return.
- Wayne (8/5): - Service levels were excellent. Spa availability options disappointing.
- stella (10/5): A little bit of heaven - Top notch
Absolutely amazing
Staff was super accommodating
Dinner was fabulous
Can’t wait to go back
- Tiina (10/5): Look forward to our stay next season. - Room was bright, airy, comfortable. Breakfast and dinner selection was excellent. Grounds were lovely. Walkable to Stratford theatre. Staff friendly and attentive.
- River (10/5): A very pleasant and relaxing stay with excellent service and well presented meals in the restaurant. - Attractive and seemingly secluded thanx to surrounding gardens. Indoors bright lights and wide corridors gave an open feel. The staff were superb at all times. Nothing.
- Sharann (10/5): Amazing retreat that made us feel like royalty in a castle! Highly recommend - Everything from driving into the property was stunning. Felt so safe and comfortable and staff were unbelievable, very attentive to every detail. We never wanted to leave 🩷 Our only problem was I forgot to book reservations for supper and they weren’t able to accommodate us at the last minute. Was totally my fault. We did get to experience the exceptional restaurant in the morning for breakfast and it totally had up for my error the night before.
- Scott (10/5): - Awesome place to stay.
- Margaret (10/5): Very gracious staff and beautiful property. - Breakfast was fantastic. We could walk to the Shakespeare Festival Theater. All was perfect!
- Peter (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay at the Bruce Hotel and recommend it to others. - Everything about the hotel was luxurious. The many staff were always eager to assist. The grounds are lovely. The location, a short walk from the festival theater, is perfect. Room service was fast. Breakfast was delicious. The restaurant's wine list needs a little updating.
- 105libg (10/5): Wonderful experience - Everything was perfect - large, tastefully decorated room, with a lovely patio, a reading alcove, beautiful pool and spa. The service was outstanding, and the availability of drinks and healthy snacks and apples (including take care of lactose intolerance) was lovely. The availability of a 'cooky express line' to order cookies at any time was a delightful extra
- Bronwen (10/5): - Unbelievable service, accommodations and food. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Beautifully decorated.
- Sally (10/5): First Class plus hotel - Excellent Nothing
- skbaruah (10/5): Well Deserved 5-Diamond - We stayed here once before (prior to COVID), and recently returned from our most recent visit. Overall, excellent! Service by all staff is really genuine and effective. They really want to go out of their way to assist and accommodate requests.
Terrific location - walkable to all primary Stratford Festival venues. They do have “shuttles” (old Lexus SUVs), but we suggest you enjoy the walks, even to the quaint “downtown”.
Lovely facilities and room. Look forward to going back.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Dwaynedaniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marianne (10/5): - I liked everything about this hotel, friendly helpful staff, beautifully appointed, clean and very peaceful.
- Pamela (8/5): Loved it ! We would definitely come again - Breakfast was tea and coffee. I thought there was danish etc but I could have didn’t hear properly.
The property is beautiful and the staff were very attentive. The room was large and the creams etc in the washroom were lovely. My daughter love it and glad we picked this hotel. And a perfect situational place to walk a 5 min walk to the play. We loved it. A great mom daughter weekend The pool is really not a pool. You couldn’t swim really just paddle around. That was disappointing. And a spa treat a would have been fantastic.
- Hull (10/5): The Bruce was elegant if a tad expensive. The cookie service was an unexpected delight. - Excellent breakfast with options for either inside or alfresco dining There was nothing which was not excellent.
- Vacation59823002188 (10/5): Outstanding - One of the best places I’ve ever stayed in. The staff, room, food and shuttle to the Shakespeare Festival were outstanding. Our needs were anticipated and fulfilled. Our breakfast was included and was wonderful. Dinner outside exceeded expectations.
- Kathleen (10/5): Fabulous - An extraordinary property in every redpect
- MWalkau (10/5): Outstanding Service! - I've done a lot of travelling and I have to say the service at the Bruce was just outstanding! From the moment we walked in, the staff were upbeat, friendly, and super helpful. They anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them! For example, my friend and I got up early to enjoy the morning with our coffee in the gazebo and no sooner did we pull out the chairs, was a smiling gentleman with cushions for us. The service for dinner and for breakfast was equally excellent (as was the food, by the way). I appreciated the attention to detail, the quality of the experience and the friendly, very helpful staff. Whoever is responsible for customer service training, you get 100%! Thank you for a memorable getaway. I will be back!
- CaresV (10/5): Felt like a celebrity. Must stay. - My husband surprised me with a night at The Bruce Hotel. The moment I walked in the door I felt like a celebrity. Everyone was so nice and doing everything they could to make my stay wonderful.
The room was amazing, they even had a Christmas tree in it! They had things in there from my husband which was such a nice touch.
I loved the mini hidden kitchenette. The bed was SO comfortable.
They were so kind as to drive me to a pedicure appt downtown. I had a massage on premises that was great!
I took advantage of the main lobby fireplace to relax with a book, and took advantage of the hot tub (no one was there!)
They had a wall of books, with some excellent titles in case you needed reading material.
There was a help yourself espresso bar that looked pretty impressive (not my thing).
The food...I am a very picky eater and the food was delicious! They serve you coffee in your room and it was the best coffee I've ever had. They have a cookie hotline but I was slightly disappointed with the cookies.
I highly recommend this hotel (even if you just go for dinner).
- ZacmanMontreal (10/5): Perfection - I don’t usually take the time to write a review but this time I had to. I have been to many hotels worldwide and the Bruce can hold its head up high. Nestled in the charming town of Stratford, it is truly an oasis of peace, luxury, and impeccable service. The staff is outstanding. Everyone is beyond polite and accommodating. They exude sincerity and pride in their work, it is truly a beautiful thing to witness. I am horrible at retaining names but everyone that I came in contact with was charming, helpful and caring. You have created something special, you should all beam with pride. I honestly can’t wait to return and will recommend the Bruce because I know it would be impossible to have a bad experience there. Thanks again for everything!
- Patrick (10/5): - By far the finest in the city.
- Joanne (8/5): - It was a wonderful stay
- Barends (10/5): after the blow of the pandemic, the hotel deserves its place in the rejuvenated hospitality industry - excellent food, excellent staff, very friendly and accommodating. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I know this is hard to believe: nothing
- Erin (10/5): Stay was truly pampering and luxurious - Wonderful breakfast in quality and selection. Lovely morning room and chance to be on the patio. Staff was attentive and pleasant.
- Robyn (10/5): Princess vibes! - Had an incredible time at the Bruce hotel. Every single part of my stay went above and beyond any expectation I had!
I cannot wait to go back!
- James (10/5): - Excellent in every way. Beautiful hotel with large well appointed rooms and wonderful friendly staff. Close to the Festival Theatre. Our favourite over several years. Highly recommended.
- MarvinF893 (10/5): One of the best hotels anywhere. - We have been back to the Bruce a few times and each return has been exceptional. You’re always greeted by imminently friendly staff. The personnel is one of the highlights of the hotel. The rooms are spacious and filled with wonderful amenities. the breakfast are outstanding and every wish is accommodated. If you’re going to the theater, the location is perfect. We can’t wait to go back.
- Domenica (10/5): Incredible stay at The Bruce in Stratford, Ontario - A classy hotel with incredible attention to detail and service. From the minute we walked onto the property every person who assisted us was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help or make our stay special.
Would highly recommend dinner at The Bruce Hotel as that did not disappoint. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We will definitely return to this hotel. Although it was a bit more expensive than some of the others in the area it was well worth it. They strive to make your occasion special and memorable.
- cdnfamilytraveller (10/5): A real treat! - This is our second time, but will not be our last. The staff are amazing, Rob, Luke, Ariel and Jason in the dining room, the bar staff (apologies, I didn’t get names) and the front desk are absolutely professional, knowledgeable and fun people to talk to. The kitchen staff are above and beyond - my crab, pea and pecorino omelet for breakfast was fabulous - light, so tasty and delicious! Oyster and bubbles is genius on the patio! And the rooms are all amazing and spacious. You feel really special (especially when you call the cookie hotline). But the most amazing thing is that you would never know that the property isn’t brand new - everything is absolutely spotless without a dent or scratch. They must have elves! And we love the location by the river path and the games rooms, pool and hot tub. Such a real treat to spend time there!
- I.W. (10/5): - This is exceptional hotel that is a 5 star property. You should stay here if you can. It makes the Stratford experience even more enjoyable. And there is a wide range of excellent choices for breakfast.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pat (10/5): Exceptional - The Bruce was among the best hotel experiences we have had anywhere in the world. Every single staff member was welcoming. Every possible consideration had been given to ensure guest comfort. I especially appreciated having coffee on our balcony. The restaurant food quality was excellent. We recommend the Bruce most highly. No suggestions for improvement
- Nonie (10/5): - Loved the Bruce! Can’t wait to go back.
- Arlene (10/5): The Bruce Hotel more than met all expectations! Thank you! - The breakfast was wonderful! I was celebrating a 40 friendship. We were treated to mimosas on the house. Everything was wonderful! I’ll be back! Perhaps the view from my room but still absolutely no complaints. It was lovely to have tea and cookies outside on a beautiful morning!
- Janice (10/5): - Wonderful adventure, the staff and property could not have been nicer!
- Cynthia (10/5): The Bruce is worth every penny! Outstanding staff and service. - A wonderful hotel. Their restaurant is top-notch. There was nothing to dislike!
- Alana (10/5): - Friendly service and wonderful facilities. The staff couldn’t do enough for me! Highly recommended!
- Dawn (10/5): - A beautiful and elegant hotel, close to the theatre and park area. It’s short walk into town by the main road, or a beautiful walk by the water. Very friendly staff, who are eager to please. I got the impression that the staff are not only happy, but proud of the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful bathroom. There is also an immaculate pool and hot tub with a spa-like feel.
- Roger (10/5): Attention to detail , helpful staff , - Clean , well maintained , Snow
- Martin (10/5): - This is one of our favorite hotels anywhere in the world
- Michael (10/5): - Service was fantastic and so professional!
- April (10/5): - I hesitate to rate it too highly or the secret will be out, because we just stepped into an oasis of perfect service, accommodation and fine dining. I'd forgotten that you don't need to travel into a big city to find this level of luxury - no request was an imposition and in fact, the staff went above and beyond to recognize our special occasion. The tasteful festive decor put us in a great mood for Christmas shopping - found something for everyone along the main street (I'd forgotten how fun it is to shop local and in person instead of from my keyboard). Hope to make this a regular destination!
- abbyc19 (10/5): Wonderful, luxurious weekend getaway! - Such a unique and well crafted experience! The staff are beyond amazing and attentive with an exceptional eye for detail. We truly felt so comfortable and luxurious in every aspect. The food and drinks at the restaurant downstairs are delightful and the decor in both the lobby and the rooms are amazing. There’s so many fun surprises and additions to the already beautiful grounds that make for a wonderful stay! We are already looking forward to our next day!
- Sidney (10/5): - We had the best experience in a long time. The Bruce has many subtle, thoughtful touches that have long been forgotten - courtesy, respectful, a cookie hotline, turn down service with slippers, subdued night lighting in the bathroom, excellent food, best butternut squash veloute ever, room was made up without asking, a wipe for my Ipad. a taxi service that picked us up at the front door of the theatre. Too many touches to remember. There was NOTHING I could think of that wasn't excellent.
- Carl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): - The staff were very professional and attentive. Bathroom was huge!
- 9penelopeh (10/5): Wonderful hotel and restaurant. Worth the price - This hotel is well worth the splurge. Bram greeted us and took us to our room through a magnificent great room and hallway decorated with play costumes and a huge old map of the world durung Shakespeare's time. The room was beautiful and the bathroom had a soak tub and a large shower, cozy robes, and anything you might need. Beds were great and our patio had a lovely view. Even better than the room which was clearly 5 star was the service.. 5 star plus. Everyone was gracious and helpful. Special shout out to Salmon who took care of every need. He is quite charming. Don't forget the restaurants for delicious and beautiful food.
- Ralph (10/5): - Wonderful hotel
- Jennifer (10/5): - Exceptional service and dining. Bravo
- Kristine (10/5): - This is a beautiful property conveniently located just a short walk away from two of the Stratford Festival theatres. There is an evident commitment to quality and excellent service throughout The Bruce. Staff are friendly and efficient in everything they do. We stayed there for two nights and enjoyed the relaxed yet refined ambience very much.
- River (10/5): Exceptional -
- Attilio (10/5): - Service was impeccable, the amenities were amazing and clean and the staff catered to your every need and were incredibly polite and caring - will be going there again !!
- Steve (10/5): - Excellent service from each and every staff member.
- Phyllis (9/5): By far, the best hotel in or near Stratford - Breakfast is excellent. Room is extra spacious and comfortable. Martini was not great.
- sarahrP7748TC (10/5): BEST place we have EVER stayed! - From the second you arrive at the doors (employees in suits open the door for you) from the second you leave with a employee and a little tin with a chocolate you feel and are treated like ROYALTY! We have cruised many times and thought we were treated like royalty until we came here…our son gave me a stay over for my 65 birthday and I will never forget this day and evening. The staff are ALL top of any where we have ever stayed with such etiquette manners and service. The food is amazing the rooms are ..so unbelievable I have no words to describe them…the grounds are so professionally landscaped it’s like walking around a botanical garden. They have espresso bars and snacks on each floor and one the telephone there is a Cookie hot line ! 24/7…The rooms have chandeliers and the biggest bathroom with separate tub and shower We have ever seen.We know if you stay for the wonderful theatre in Stratford or just a stay you will definitely be back
- Aline (10/5): Highly recommended! - A beautiful gem of a hotel. Large, luxuriously appointed rooms, elegant public spaces, and beautifully landscaped grounds. Wonderful staff with shoutouts to Bram, Rebecca, and Philip for their exceptional service and attentiveness to even the smallest details of our stay.
- David (10/5): - Easy short walk to the Festival theatre. Beatifully appointed hotel, marvelous room, good restaurant, lovely grounds, attentive service. Couldnt ask for much more. I would strengthen the coffee brew, perhaps offer ham is an alternative to bacon in the breakfast offering, but that's it!
- Rob (10/5): - The hotel staff and the hotel itself are excellent. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
- 228kellyn (10/5): Delightful Stay In Every Way! - I cannot say enough about our stay. Staff was delightful and informative. The rooms are just gorgeous. Bathrooms are the finest we have ever seen. (And we are travellers!) The common areas feature beautiful furniture and the grounds are meticulous. We had dinner in the dining room; a five star experience. (Breakfast which was included in our pkg, was delightful). The attention to detail at this hotel is next level. Home made granola bars and biscotti is available at the Nespresso stations as one example. Home made cookies available and it goes on. Too many delights and extras to name. The owner has created an iconic hotel. Now our favourite and we will surely be returning.
- Rémi (10/5): Outstanding. Will be back - Excellent all outstanding food and service All great
- Julie (10/5): - Excellent accommodations at The Bruce. Our suite was spacious, clean and included a small, private patio.
My vegan dining preferences were not an issue at all...in fact, the chef created an incredible Vegan evening meal just for me! I was extremely impressed by the quality of service.
- David (8/5): - We booked this hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary which included seeing shows at Stratford. It is a beautiful property on the way into the main downtown of Stratford and is secluded from the main street. We were greeted by 5 staff, which was a bit of overkill, and two of them walked us to our room to show us how to find the fridge, safe and light switches. This was really unnecessary as we are perfectly capable of finding our own way. The room was large and very comfortable with a quiet patio and well appointed bathroom. We were welcomed with two delicious butter tarts and had access to the 'cookie hotline' in case we got hungry during our stay. We took advantage of the pool and hot tub, which were comfortably warm. There was a sulphur smell which may have been from the chemicals used to keep the pool clean. Breakfast was included in our room and it was delicious. The servings were extremely large and we felt badly about sending so much uneaten back. Next time we will make our portion size request before ordering. The French toast was delicious and the hot sauce made in house complimented the eggs perfectly. The lattes were delicious especially with some of the local maple syrup added. Home made jam was also delicious. We would certainly consider returning to this property as the higher cost does ensure superior attention.
- Shirley (10/5): A wonderful hotel with friendly personalized service. Easy walk to the Stratford theatre. -

- Harold (10/5): A++++ Hotel, very expensive but definitely worth the money for a very special occasion. - Breakfast was included at hotel and it was exceptional, beautiful patio or inside dining room.Hotel location was perfect for either going downtown or short walk to waterfront park were Stratford festival theatre is located. Personel were all perfect, clerks, room service, restaurant .Could not be better. Outside pool, but then again I'm from Florida.Inside pools quite satisfactory.
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Very thoughtfully designed
- ronaldjS339OE (8/5): A wonderful spot...with a "spotty" kitchen... - We made our first post Covid trip to Stratford and the Bruce to find some things greatly improved, some thankfully unchanged...but one aspect seriously beneath their standards and our expectations.
The staff are amazing, the attention to detail beyond reproach and the rooms large, comfortable and consistently well equipped.
But, sadly the kitchen is letting the whole enterprise down seriously. We found the food to be overly complicated and poorly prepared. The simple elegant tastes of gravlax were lost completely lost in a chopped up mismatch of avocado, tomato and crostini. Pork medallions were like hockey pucks, and halibut seemed overcooked and buried in sauces and far too many oddly prepared vegetables. Previous trips to the Bruce had always delivered meals to a standard consistent with the rest of the offering, but sadly things have changed...
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ginette (8/5): - Great stay but restaurant service, for dinner was not exceptional. There wasn't enough staff to provide a quick and efficient service.
