• Michaela (4/5): Preis/Leistung leider nicht ok!!! - Eigentlich nur die Aussicht auf den Atlantik! Zuviel Mücken , man konnte kein Fenster auflassen und keine Klimaanlage war vorhanden. Das Wasser im Waschbecken lief nicht richtig ab und den Duschhebel konnte man nur vorsichtig benutzen ! Die Badezimmertür konnte man nicht schließen !Der Autolärm am Abend und in der Nacht war dann doch ziemlich unangenehm , außerdem geht unterhalb der Unterkunft eine Zugstrecke vorbei …ebenfalls bis spät in den Abend . Insgesamt sehr unbefriedigend die gesamte Situation.

Der Blick über False Bay großartig. Der tolle Strand von Fish Hoek bequem zu Fuss zu erreichen. Wal- und Delfinsichtung von der Terrasse aus mit bloßem Auge! Für einen mehrtägigen Aufenthalt auf der Kap-Halbinsel fand ich die Lage in Fish Hoek perfekt. Die Pinguine bei Boulders gleich ums Eck, zum Kap der Guten Hoffnung ist's dann nicht mehr weit, die Fahrt über die spektakuläre Chapman's Peak Straße nach Hout Bay ist ebenfalls nur 20 Minuten entfernt, und über Kalk Bay und das Surfer Mekka Muizenberg sind es etwa 45 Minuten bis zum Stadtzentrum von Kapstadt. Den Flughafen erreichten wir in etwa 40 Minuten. Ein Fülle guter Restaurants in der Nähe, absolut empfehlenswert das "Harbour House" in Kalk Bay! Zu unserem Appartement ging's über teilweise steile Treppen. Bei Feuchtigkeit war Vorsicht geboten.

Good quality of new appliances, did not expect a coffee maker and a double airfryer. Thanks Ivan and the ladies of the high standard keeping the apartment so beautifully decorated. Close to the Boulders Beach for penguins watching and a stone throw away from all the nice restaurants and cafes in Kalk Bay. None

Classified as a 3* facility - it was super comfy and well equipped for a self-catering holiday. Nice location just outside Fish Hoek town, with a delightful view of the bay from our balcony - and bed! Staff were super, taking care of the apartment every day which was a nice surprise. And the wonderful hosts provided great info on places to visit and really made us feel at home. Nothing negative to report - truly delightful! I've given my review 9* as Whale of a Time is not a 5* luxury hotel with gym, sauna, bar etc. It's a comfy apartment in a very nice location.

And I say "experience" because our stay was much more than just a room to sleep in. Such a beautiful property! Such a sensational view from the deck! Such welcoming hosts! We walked down to Fish Hoek every morning for coffee and pastries, and we enjoyed strolling on the nearby beach and chatting the locals. Highly recommend!

Realistically it’s a place to base yourself. - The view is fab, the two ladies who mind and clean the apartment were wonderful To have those views it means it’s downhill, and uphill to the apartment when you want to get down to the beach, it was particularly windy when we were there and again because of the height it was pretty loud at night time.

The property is 5 min drive to grocery stores and 10 min drive to Kalk Bay. The host was very accommodative. Ivan allowed us to make changes to our booking and made arrangements for an additional room for our parents who decided to join us at the last minute. The staff were very nice and helped us with the laundry. Some items such as umbrellas for the sun, basic cooking items such as oil, salt and pepper, keys to the laundry room could have been provided at the start to make for an even more comfortable stay.

• _m0ni_ (1/5): Meh. I've stayed at better. - The view of the sea. The maids were friendly and helpful. Everything else. Coming into the place and leaving was horrendous because there were so many stairs that we were not forewarned about. This would've been great to know on the listing before booking, because my mom has a bad ankle and she Injured it going down into the property and leaving to checkout. Check-in was from 2PM however we were told due to a late checkout with the previous guests, we were told to wait an hour and check in at 3PM. No privacy whatsoever because neighbours could basically see right into the apartment, and other guests staying on the property could AND DID walk through our section to get to the pool and, sometimes just because they could. Kitchen utensils were rusty, fridge was small and very little pots and pans to work with when cooking a basic meal. String Suggestion: Do not rely on the cleaning ladies for EVERYTHING. They were expected to clean the properties, check-in all guests and manage our stay. This is the job of the host and it would be nice to see a friendly face to welcome us before our stay and answer any of our questions.

It has an awesome view through large windows and two beautiful bathrooms. Iwan was the most caring host throughout our 3 weeks journey along the cape; we has available 24/7 and proactively approached us through what’s app, to tell us load shedding schedules or recommendations for local activities in the area as well as restaurant tipps. The two angels of the house, Melody and Faith were lovely and caring and even helped us out with our dirty laundry. A strong recommendation- we wished we could have staid longer as we really loved it here! Absolutely nothing

• Maxston (8/5): would definitely consider coming here again - we had a free upgrade so the apt was light and airy and very spacious. The views were magnificent and the apartment was overall in great condition. We had a WhatsApp group so were able to contact the management easily which was very helpful. The maids always came and did the cleaning when we asked. I used the pool a few times and it was lovely, great views and very clean and well kept. The load shedding was a bit of an issue as we couldn’t use the kettle or the Wi-Fi during this time. I believe that generators were being fitted but it would’ve been an idea to have an inverter just for the kettle and Wi-Fi usage. We bought the apartment to use the garage but this never materialised. However it was not really a problem as there was plenty of parking outside. The oven and hob was a bit dated and it was quite difficult to cook. We ended up just eating out anyway, which was okay.

Private and quiet. Secure, spacious. Good location for walking along the beach. Street parking outside. Friendly, accommodating owner, kept us informed of load-shedding schedules and allowed an early check-in. It's not the owner's fault but you do have to keep in mind that, although the locals have normalised load-shedding (aka power cuts at all different times of the day and night), you will not necessarily have available to you the stated amenities. For us this meant no TV, internet, stove, lights, etc for four hours one evening and then no kettle for coffee the following morning. Less of an issue if you're not reliant on self-catering.

• Roger (10/5): Exceptional - They're not kidding about the view - it was amazing. It was wonderful watching the fur seals swimming about from the lovely terrace. Room was clean, well maintained and well equipped, and the housekeepers (Melody and Faith) were helpful and efficient. Good WiFi too. About 10 minutes walk to the beach and a further 5 to the shops. Neighbourhood felt very safe. Load shedding was a slight irritant but no fault of the property

• Joanna (10/5): Fishhoek gem - We really appreciated the amazing hospitality of Ivan and his team. The service we received from them, from the beginning to the end, was simply outstanding. We stayed at Dolphin and Beluga. Both apartments were beautifully appointed and had all we needed for our 6 day stay. We loved spending time on the shared balcony and the view from it was just spectacular (you can see the ocean ahead even when you lie in bed in the room ♡) We could stay there forever. Highly recommend it.
