- Maria (4/5): - This is my second stay. The room that I was given doesn't look anything like the room in the photo here, left of this review box, nor to the one shown on the booking I made. This one is evidently on the second floor, which I always prefer and select when going to hotels; also the furnishings of the room I was given were all dark--nice in their own way, but not my preference. I had wanted to stay in that room shown to the left, and shown on my booking. The room given was on the main floor, beside the back entrance to the parking area, so I heard that door opening and closing often at night and in the morning before I left. In the morning also, loud voices shouted down the hall, which I think were of hotel staff. So when I refer to "Quiet" for the area of Ancaster, which is nice, I am not referring to the hotel itself. The view of the parking area was not at all appealing of course. The bright lights that illuminate the parking lot, good for safety reasons, does come through and around the window dressings, which made sleeping difficult. I like a black-out effect for sleeping, as bright lights keep me awake. I didn't fall asleep until 4am, and the bed was lumpy and the pillows too soft; there were only two in the room. The toiletries were of poor quality; the hand lotion so bad I had to wash it off. I had tried the shampoo and conditioner on my last stay, but it made my hair dry and brittle, thus I avoided these these this time. The "bottle" of wine was only 1/2 a bottle.

Free parking, free wifi, an extremely spacious and beautiful room (they upgraded us for free!) and the staff was next-level friendly and helpful. I felt like royalty.

The staff is friendly, inviting and courteous. The location is ideal with many restaurants nearby and plenty of shopping. There is also a second floor lounge with a fire place and large covered balcony, approximately 500 sq. ft. Overall, entirely delightful.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - No one was at the desk when I arrived. No sign to tell me they would be back. I scanned a QR code that I was supposed to show someone. Then I found a number to call. No one picked up. So I sat in the lobby looking on the website on whom I should call. I’ve stayed here a few times so I was surprised no one was at the desk. It was 7:00 pm. Finally someone came. Also, only two pillows on the bed and the door to the balcony has windows that are only partially covered so the top windows let in light from the parking lot.

- Michele (8/5): - The outside of the hotel is a lovely heritage building as well as the front lobby. The room we had was spacious, clean, comfortable bed and pillows They provide cable as well as Netflix, Prime etc We excepted the room to have more of the character of the old building although it was a nice room. I assume the more expensive rooms provide you with more character. The only complaint we would have is that you can hear people in the hall and closing their doors. Not very sound proof. They provide a nice bagged breakfast including croissants, fruit and eggs. Hotel is a bit pricy but very convenient to the Ancaster Mill if you are having a wedding there

It was exceptionally thoughtful - from COVID procedures to pure guest experience, The Barracks Inn was outstanding. Immaculate, well appointed, and exceptionally comfortable - and the staff was helpful, polite, and patient. An easy walk to restaurants (The Brewer's Blackbird was outstanding) and shopping - you simply cannot do better. When we parked, another guest was coming out to walk his dog and shouted "YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT!" - he was absolutely correct.

Only 1 Comment : Breakfast was not great - But again, The Kitchen was closed due to COVID-19 and they had it delivered from an external caterer I believe. So its understandable.
- Christina (10/5): Perfect getaway for couples - We loved our recent 2-night stay at the Barracks Inn. Our room (King Suite) was beautiful, clean and comfortable. It was a really romantic getaway. The hotel was lovely, I loved the historical elements (stone walls and flooring) and the neutral interior design. The bathroom in our room was beautiful and well designed. The staff was very sweet and helpful. We will definitely be returning in the future as it's a special spot.

It’s closely located to every possible amenity. Best of all the bed was super comfy! The room was spacious and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. We felt very much at home during our three day visit. Oh, and the rate was excellent!

The COVID breakfast consisted of pre-packaged items delivered to the door, so don’t get too excited about this meal. My guess is that pre-COVID, the breakfast would be as wonderful as all the other aspects of the inn.
- Maria (10/5): - Very polite and efficient. Liked the fact that you select what you want in your breakfast bag. To many hotels are wasting food by just putting everything in the bag. Beautiful rooms with amazing beds, very comfortable and clean. Loved the shower! We were greeted by the resident dog laying by the front desk, he was beautiful and extremely well behaved, in fact he did not so much as look up. He put a smile on our face and we don’t even have pets. Great hotel!
- Phil (4/5): - Arrived at 4:15pm for 4pm check in, room wasn’t ready and no other rooms available. Not a big deal “extra cleaning” for covid procedures which is fine but maybe start cleaning earlier then?? Also then used the excuse they were “short staffed” once again not my problem I’m paying for you to be prepared not for excuses. Did I get a discount because you were short staffed? Nope. Had a dinner reso scheduled for 5pm so they put my family in a back room to change that was dirty, no toilet paper, dried urine all of the toilet rim, crusty bathroom countertop etc. Come back from dinner at 7pm and their still cleaning our room!! Unreal. Can’t walk in our room, had to tell the cleaning crew just leave and I finally take over my room with wet floors. Nobody came to follow up with us, and there was no extra customer service provided. Friendly staff, but I didn’t get anything for my patience and inconvenience just excuses. Nice looking place and nice location but that all means nothing when the money isn’t worth it. Better off staying in a mainstream $120/night hotel where there will surely be more convenience if there is any unusual circumstances. Very disappointed, bad look here on Expedia as well for promoting at “exceptional”.
