Guest Reviews
- Alison (8/5): A very enjoyable stay in a lovely building, just a shame our visit couldn’t be longer. - WG Creole House is a beautiful old building in a quiet part of the neighbourhood. The communal areas are beautiful and the enormous bed was sooooo comfortable. 😊 The owner was lovely. We stayed in ‘Trolley Stop Classy’ a large downstairs bedroom. With separate private bathroom in the hall.
We had a lovely stay but if I’m being picky it would have been nice to have some daylight - the veranda outside has a cover so no natural light. Also, a mirror in the bedroom would be a good addition. It would be great if there was some sort of shelf/shower tidy in the shower area along with a hook behind the door to hang your robe.

- Sandra (10/5): Einfach nur der Hammer - Das Zimmer hat unsere Erwartungen mehr als übertroffen. Am liebsten würden wir gar nicht mehr ausziehen Nichts
- Faith (10/5): - Beautiful historic home. Super comfy bed. Beautiful common area. Clean. Quiet. Close to the quarter without being in the quarter. Nothing.
- Gauthier (10/5): - Very clean and nice location.
- ff52c32e189a728b591c8b7a23ad229f (10/5): Nice stay. - Beautiful house.
- Joe (10/5): Cozy and very charming taste of New Orleans! - Beautiful well maintained property located within walking distance of the French Quarter. No complaints.
- Timothy (10/5): -
- Tobias (10/5): -
- Ethan (10/5): -
- naomi (10/5): I would have loved to stay longer!! - Great location to ST Charles Avenue for restaurants and watching parade. I loved everything!!!
- Matthew (7/5): Didn’t have any problems during our stay and wouid stay there again if Im ever back in NOLA. - Our stay was good. The property was quiet and a good place to sleep after a long day of activities. The bed was to soft for my liking but it’s not my bed at my house so I don’t expect that to be the case.
- Davis (10/5): Great and very comfortable stay! Very unique property! - It was very quiet, even during Mardi Gras! The air conditioner in the room worked wonderful. There was not any ice on the property.
- Audra (7/5): -
- Denise (10/5): - Clean, convient and cozy. NA
- Chloe (10/5): - We loved creole house. It was extremely clean and exactly as it said on the tin. Special shout-out to Melissa who was wonderful and seemed to embody the New Orleans vibes, she was amazing from the moment we got there. Would recommend.
- Sergio (10/5): -
- Claire (9/5): Lovely and quiet vintage house - Very nice stay in what feels like someone's home. It's a bit like staying at an AirBNB though; the staff was very responsive and helpful via text, but I didn't see anyone at the property (no other guests either!). I had the large room with bath and balcony and liked having the door open to the air. It was quiet despite being close to the highway. There's no closet but I appreciated the hangers on the back of the bathroom door.
It's a block and a half walk to St. Charles Street where I had dinner and did necessary shopping at Walgreen's (I didn't have a car). The streetcar is also right there; loved traveling on it! This place is a terrific value for the price. Be forewarned that the ceilings are high. That means it's a long flight of steps to hump a suitcase up to the second floor. I would have liked a little table to set a glass on next to the comfy armchair.
- Heather (9/5): Road trip! Passing through with my mom to see the sites of New Orleans! - Location - short walk to the street car to see all the sites of New Orleans. The house is clean and beautifully decorated. If you feel like staying in, there is a kitchen on the first floor where travelers can bring their own food and sit with their friends or family at a family sized table to enjoy food together. There is also a beautiful sitting area. Melissa, the caretaker is attentive and friendly! When she said “make yourself at home” , it was true. Having said that, there are signs placed around the house requesting folks be respectful of the house and other guests - which I LOVED about the house. If you want a place to be rowdy or have kiddos that want to run around and play, I’d recommend finding another place. The Creole House made our stay in New Orleans pleasant. It was perfect for us. FREE PARKING. Just a side note: if you have mobility issues, request a room on the first floor. If you have sharing issues, book a room with a private bathroom.
- Dean Burk (10/5): All good. No reason not to stay again. - Excellent lodging with easy access to St Charles Avenue, making getting in and out of the French Quarter a snap. Very quiet and very private, and inexpensive. I recommend it and will definitely stay there again. On street parking is available but uncertain I suppose at busy times. Keypad entry: could guests be provided with the code on the day of arrival? I felt helpless standing on the step ringing the bell and wondering how I was going to get inside. Luckily the live-in housekeeper came down to answer the bell after a time. I was early, I admit, before the designated check-in time.
- Michael (10/5): We We really enjoyed saying at the WG. Location is perfect. - We ate at The Camilla Grill. It was outstanding. You need to put a bifold door leading to the downstairs bedroom. It would give you more privacy going to the bathroom. You could charge a little extra for the room. I would also put a stuffed chair in the corner in the downstairs bedroom.
- Alvin (6/5): - House was really nice. We were woken up early
- Stephen (10/5): - The room is well maintained and cozy. Close to two streetcar lines. Also close to Amtrak where I am going to take the train.
- Christopher (10/5): - Very nice place
- Jessica (10/5): - This was a little different for me but overall it was a great stay.
- Jason (10/5): Loved this place - We loved it. Affordable, no staff to worry about. Close enough to walk to both the superdome and the French quarter, but the st. Charles street cars right there! It was great. Only problem was that the WiFi was so slow as to be almost nonexistent. But other than that, a great stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was fine. A few minor issues: no glasses in room, low water pressure in shower. Very quiet. Never saw any staff people.
- John (8/5): 1 night in the Big Easy - The property is very nice. Very clean. But I had a problem with the WiFi reaching my room. Signal was very weak. Everything else was fine.
- Melvin (10/5): Very home/comfortable vibe and great quality for the price. - The establishment was so beautiful and well kept. Our room was gorgeous and huge. It was very clean and the staff was so amazing and friendly. The value for the quality was phenomenal. The neighborhood was questionable. We seen a lot of homeless people asking for money, and questionable people very close to the establishment. We were concerned about the safety of our vehicle. However there were no issues and everything turned out to be fine. There also was a very big staircase we had to climb and carry luggage. There was no bathroom in our room. We had to leave our room and go down a hall and put a code in to use the bathroom. It made us feel very vulnerable in the middle of the night. Please don’t let this detour you, we would definitely stay there again!!
- Ron (9/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to Downtown - Very clean, close to the rails to downtown, parking on the street (free). Maybe a "K" cup coffee in the future. WiFi was free and good in our room.
A few of the close by food places were closed, but we had a rental car and traveled to the great food in New Orleans.
- Patricia (10/5): - Great for the price , the place is very beautiful and more than feeling like a hotel it feels like you are staying in a traditional colonial house . It's also very easy to get around from there to other places in the city .
- Jacques (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Room was in excellent condition. Clean and cool (even during 95*F+ weather). Walking distance to street car stop. Food options are available close by but used a delivery service because I was by myself with no car and surrounding area after night did not seem to be the best place to be.
- Paulette (10/5): Excellent accomodations with an excellent staff to help you with your stay. - The location is perfect. Mais restaurant is on the corner and only 3 blocks to the streetcar. Lots of restaurants in the area.
- bob (10/5): - Beautiful
- Casey Cassel (10/5): - The house was lovely and had that NOLA charm to it. It is located right off the highway, but close enough that we walked to different restaurants. It was even close enough to one of the Hop on Hop off bus stops, so we didn't have to worry about paying for parking when we went into the city. There was always enough parking on the street by the house as well.
The house itself was very beautiful and clean. It was so quiet our entire stay that it felt like the home was just ours. Our room was very spacious, beautiful, and clean! The bathroom was attached to our room and was also very clean and spacious.
The only person we saw was the housekeeper, Melissa, and she was the sweetest and friendliest person.
We had an amazing trip and would stay here again! No complaints
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Roger Williams (10/5): - Close to everything but a little of the beaten path. A nice place to stay and convenient to get to almost anywhere in the New Orleans area. Not much of a walking area but you can grab a scooter and get to anywhere quickly. Great place to sit and relax in the main open area and the ability to use the kitchen if need be. Also has a great little restaurant at the corner of the street that is a must try.
- Daysha (6/5): - Check was pretty evil didn’t care if I like that. I have this code to open every door.
At one point now, and it took a day to with that being said I had to into all apps for streaming. Housekeeping, but there was some type of confusion.
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacey (10/5): - Lovely place with a lovely, helpful housekeeper. Very comfortable and clean. Would stay here again. Walking distance to the quarter but outside of the craziness in a quiet area.
- Hailee (10/5): - We had a great time
- Larry (10/5): - It was Great! Very Clean!
- Eli (10/5): Perfect budget guesthouse for sightseeing in NOLA - When we were making our plans, we saw WG Creole House’s low price and wondered what the catch was. As far as we are concerned, there is none! We had a great 3 day stay, our room was comfortable and spacious, the location is a 15min walk or 5 min streetcar to the french quarter, and has many good restaurants nearby. They were responsive with any questions, and we would definitely stay here again. Perfect guesthouse for those on a budget just between the main tourist areas of french quarter and lower garden district. The hot water works fine but takes several minutes to activate while the water is running.
- Matthew (10/5): - A fantastically unique spot less about one mile from the Superdome.
- Laura (9/5): Wonderful stay - Lovely building with stylish decoration and the bed was so comfortable. Wonderful place to stay. Didn’t realise the bathroom was separate in the hall, but it was ok once we got used to it.
- Lucile (8/5): Very good - Soap for the showers would’ve been nice and the pillows were too hard
- Jonathan (10/5): - LOVE the property. It felt like my home in New Orleans. It was filled with warmth, exceptionally clean and was in a convenient location. Also, Miss Melissa (the property manager/host) was lovely. I enjoyed talking with her immensely and consider her a friend! Can't wait to come back for Jazzfest in 2026. My NOLA home away from home :)
- Thomas (8/5): - Property is nice inside ... and Melissa was great to deal with . Off Street Parking and area is a little off the beaten path but ok ... Surprised the private bathroom in the Trolley Stop Room was down the hall and not in the room .. This was not what was expected . I would suggest having a full length mirror somewhere in the rooms as you can not see yourself when getting dressed and maybe some ice and a bottle of water or two in the room upon arrival .. The sign on the door that says check out at 11am . No Exceptions ! .. maybe you can word it another way so not so it could relay your message without being abrupt .. Little things mean a lot .. overall good property .. Thank you .
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely historical guest house. A full kitchen is available for guests to use and a lounge area with comfy sofas. There is free street parking with plenty of space. The property is a 10-15 minute bus ride from the French Quarter. You can buy a 24 hour bus ticket (called a JazzPass) on the bus for $3 to use on all buses. The street car also goes to the French Quarter but wasn't running iwhile we were there. Melissa, the housekeeper, is lovely. She was full of useful information about places to visit and restaurants etc.
- Lucas (10/5): - Comfortable bed great location
- Jamie (10/5): - The house is beautiful. Quiet and clean. Full kitchen and coffee. It was within walking distance from the trolley and far away enough from the noise. Our flight didn’t leave till the night after we checked out and they were nice enough to let us leave our suitcase in the closet downstairs so we could explore the town on our last day without carrying our luggage. Would definitely recommend
- Samantha (8/5): - The house itself was gorgeous, especially the inside and it’s nice and quiet. It IS on the other side of the river and walking under that bridge is sketchy. There are a lot of homeless people in the area and as a woman staying there alone I wouldn’t want to be there by myself at night. The kitchen is more for show than anything else. They have what you need to make coffee but I use a different machine and didn’t want to spend time making it and potentially breaking it.
- Christopher (10/5): - Definitely an amazing, reasonably priced New Orleans experience!
- Christopher (10/5): - Excellent location, conveniently located near major railcar routes. Caretaker is friendly and attentive, and on-site team was very responsive. Would wholeheartedly recommend for all travelers to New Orleans.
- Amber (10/5): - Great place to stay in the warehouse district. We would absolutely stay again!
- Robert (10/5): Hidden treasure. - A great place to stay. Completely restored home within walking distance to WW ll museum. Only 4 rooms with 2 people max in each. Travis the owner and Melissa the housekeeper are outstanding. Free parking right outside. A quiet place with some excellent restaurants around. When we return to New Orleans, this is where we will stay. Near the trolley line.
- Dani (8/5): - the area seemed sketchy at first but it was overall fine while i was there. the neighbors were a little loud when i was trying to go to bed but overall it was fine.
- Amanda (10/5): Great home from home in New Orleans - The home is a New Orleans delight. Lovely rooms , very clean, very comfortable bed, well appointed.
Housekeeper Melissa is a dream host.
Free parking on the street, and about 4 minute walk to the streetcar that takes you direct to the French quarter.
- Christine (10/5): Excellent choice! - Excellent facility! Staff were amazing! Very very beautifully decorated and maintained. Quiet and comfy. Street parking in front, never had a problem. Excellent experience, will return for sure!
- Jerome (10/5): - Nice ploce
- Tyler (10/5): Beautiful and charming - Charm, clean. No human contact
- Darcy (10/5): - Oh my gosh, It was the perfect quiet spot for me to stay while I studied during work training! The staff was on hand but not in my face. Exactly what I needed.
- Angie (10/5): Great house and location! - It was a beautiful house, Very historic!❤️ I didn’t like the private bath being outside of our room. It was very clean but would have personally preferred it to be in the room.
- Shirley (10/5): - Beautiful old character house with lovely live-in housekeeper. Prompt responses to small issues. Short walk to Mardi Gras Parade. Fabulous restaurants nearby. Clise to trolleycar.
- STEVEN (10/5): - Wonderful stay. I arrived early but they had accomodations to store luggage. Melissa finished preparing room allowing early check in. She was awesome and gave me a warm welcome. She even invited me to go watch the parade with me.
- Sharif (10/5): A very New Orleans boutique! - Great value. Charming boutique hotel. My room’s bath was dedicated but down the hall which isn’t ideal but it was fine. I only stayed one night. Very nice sitting area on the first floor. I made my own coffe in the coffeemaker in the morning. I didn’t hear or see any other guests. I think there are 4 rooms, total.
- squirrelOakland (10/5): Step Back in Time- 1800's - I recently stayed in the Trolley Stop Executive Room with a balcony at W.G. Creole House 1850. The view of the highway felt very urban, but you’re still close to the Quarter. Everything—except the bathroom—keeps its original 1800s charm. There’s a grand staircase, so if stairs are a concern, consider a ground-floor room.
Melissa, the caretaker, is the heart of this place: she keeps it spotless and goes out of her way to help. The neighborhood may look a bit urban, but I felt safe and had no trouble finding free street parking. It’s also just a short walk to the St. Charles streetcar. Melissa gave us a tour of a few rooms, and we can not wait to visit again.
- Amanda Jayne (10/5): - A wonderful stay made more personable by the lovely Miss Melissa. Here as a lone female traveller the area was cleaned up a lot due to the Super Bowl so I did walk everywhere. Less than 30mins walk to the French Quarter and 15mins to the Superdome! A lovely comfortable room with tv, mini fridge and en-suite- thank you for a memorable trip - loved it
- Geraldine (10/5): - I was very satisfied with my stay except not having a bathroom in my room. I use the bathroom at least once during the night. Getting up, leaving my room, and punching in door codes to access bathroom down the hall and reenter my room in the middle of the night really interrupted my sleep.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (10/5): - Friendly staff and unbelievably comfortable beds
- Melissa (10/5): - Melissa the housekeeper was fantastic! She was super informative and helpful. The hotel was centrally located with quick access on foot or via trolley to everything. The room was immaculate and comfortable. We will be back!
- Valeria (10/5): Excellent stay, would 100% recommend! - Excellent, exactly what you need for a long weekend stay. Location was great, less than a 10 minute walk for buses and the St. Charles street car.
- Amy (10/5): - Quiet, clean, central location with lots of historic charm and the sweetest housekeeper you’ll ever meet. We parked easily on the street right in front and walked to the French Quarter, CBD and Garden District. Would totally return!
- peter (10/5): - Mellissa was fantastic. Such a loving, friendly and funny person. The place is well kept and our room was comfortable. Although it could have used a chair! Minor issue, The street car was close and runs 24/7. Definitely go back.
- Kemba A (10/5): - Everything
- Jake (10/5): Very happy customer! - I had the loveliest welcome from the host and the hotel was beautiful, very clean and very comfortable with a convenient location!
- Anna (8/5): - The place was clean and nice to stay at. The one issue we had was that staying in the trolley stop classy room downstairs, while we did have a private bathroom, it was located out in the hall across from the room. So any time you need to go use the bathroom or take a shower you’ll need to make sure you’re either fully clothed and presentable or risk crossing the hall in a towel. This is compounded by the fact that the bathroom has no hangers of any kind for hand or bath towels and no counter space to put clothes or towels while showering, short of wedging them into the few inches of space behind the sink. Not ideal when you need to take all of your clothes into the bathroom with you. A couple command hooks on the back of the bathroom door would have vastly improved my experience. Perfectly nice place to stay, but I’d recommend maybe bringing a bathrobe.
- Tonya (10/5): Looking for that hometown feeling, this is definitely the right place to stay! - The house was gorgeous. Our room was quaint and comfortable. The owner went out of their way to make sure the house and our areas were secure, comfortable and clean! The location was excellent. Ms.Melissa was very friendly and helpful, she made us feel like we were at home! I wish we could have stayed longer!
- Jennifer (10/5): Great room, amazing staff. - We had a lovely stay at WG Creole. Very comfortable bed, good water pressure, and nicely sized room w bath. Check in was easy and automatic, and Melissa was SO kind, funny and helpful with us and our friends. We loved chatting with her in the parlor and she gave us great suggestions around town. 6 out of 5 stars.
- Andrew (10/5): - Enjoy staying at the WG, Melissa is a great housekeeper and will always make sure you have everything you need. Will stay again
- Candace (10/5): - Loved it
- Devena (6/5): Pleasant -
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional - I loved everything about this nothing negative to say and I always stay here when I come to New orleans Nothin
- Russell (10/5): Special guest in a private home - Creole House was meticulously restored, retaining period details, while adding modern amenities. Staying here feels like you are a special guest in a private home. It is on a quiet street, but it is only a short walk to the Amtrak station. A Columbian restaurant is the next block over.
- William (10/5): I loved the stay because it was a great price and the house was beautiful. - The location was very good because it was central to everywhere that I needed to go. There wasn't a whole lot that I did not like; however, I wish the room would have been a little bit cooler.
- Adrianna (10/5): Great stay during our business trip - WG Creole House 1850 was a lovely stay. They were incredibly accommodating when we arrived early and wanted to stow our luggage before we could check in so we could explore New Orleans! When we had some problems with our shower they were quick to help us and always communicating with us in a timely manner. The kitchen was well equipped with the microwave and coffee maker and I was able to make a quick breakfast in the microwave. I highly recommend staying here in the future for anyone coming to New Orleans!
- Chris (10/5): Melissa- miss you already. - The property was very luxurious, the beds very comfy and the reception area downstairs a lovely place to relax. Great location (a 2-3 minute walk from the trolley car), and despite what others say the walk under the underpass into the city isn’t too bad, it’s fairly busy and well lit. You also bypass this by taking the trolleycar. By far the best bit about this property however is Melissa!! She was endlessly helpful and kind, and embodied the true essence of southern hospitality. Made my day seeing here on my way in or out of the hotel. The property itself was faultless in terms of value, I would say if I had to pick one that either end of clio street is a little bleak. The middle part where the property is, is absolutely fine however. Couldn’t recommend this place more !
- Jeffery (7/5): Melisa is a good person. Her welcoming gesture is top notch. - N/A n/a
- Christopher (8/5): Great place to stay - Comfy little gem situated close to many of the attractions NOLA has to offer. Very clean, quiet, and easy to get in and out of. I would stay here again without hesitation. I have exactly 2 complaints: there were light bulbs that were on their way out and flickering in the room, and the mattress was so squishy, my arms would fall asleep from it caving in. Seemed it wasn't properly supported.
Overall, however, a great stay.
- Mark (10/5): - I have been coming to WG Creole 1850 on a regular basis. This is an outstanding stay, particularly for those who enjoy taking the road less traveled. You will not meet a finer human being than Melissa, a beautiful warm welcoming spirit who makes surre the rooms spit spot for your stay. So much mindfulness evident everywhere. Love the high ceilings and chandelierrs. When you stay here you are staying in a beautiful home, not a cookie cutter hotel room. And you are just a block and a half from the uptown streetcar. Definitely a great stay, particilarly for those who dance to a different drummer. There is a reason they have exceptional ratings. Keep in mind with rates well below downtown hotels, your expectation should be a beautiful historic home with fantastic hosts, an outstanding value. At the same time this isn't a traditional hotel with traditional hotel services. Parking is street parking. A few blocks away near the 90 overpass, as wilth many urban areas, you may encounter people experiencing homelessness. While I have never personally felt unsafe, those unfamiliar with the area should be aware. This is the only cautionary note which IMHO is far outweighed by the extraordinary stay provided by the hosts and this beautiful historic home.
- ChiQuito (10/5): - Enjoyed staying here 10/31-11/3/24. Melissa was awesome. Bed was comfortable and I slept sound. If you stay here, you can easily take the street car for $1.25 or purchase a Jazzy Pass ($8/3days). It’ll take you pretty much where you wanna go.
- Earl (10/5): Our NOLA Visit! - Great central location between French Quarters & GardenDistrict/Uptown! Close to the Streetcar pick ups and comfy and quiet. Right near the overpass but doesn’t feel like it in some ways.
- Kayleigh (10/5): - This house is beautiful! The room we stayed in was so perfect for our stay in NOLA. It was clean, spacious, easy to access, and the bed was super comfortable. Parking was very easy; we were able to park right in front of the house each day. We were a 2 minute walk from Maïs Arepas restaurant, which was so delicious. We highly recommend it. We will definitely book here again!
- Dewey (10/5): Great Overnight Stay - It was an overnight stay before a cruise. Great location to get to port, and in the warehouse district. We are from Louisiana, and visit/stay in NOLA extensively, so we are accustomed to the different vibes of each district. The location of the hotel is in a safe area of the district, even though it does look a bit unkept. The hotel was immaculate, and a diamond in the rough.
- Cara (8/5): Would definitely stay here again! - Great location I wish there was a chain lock on the hotel door
- Eric (6/5): The place may be fine for some but we found it odd and off-putting. - Nice old building and furnishings. Clean- and very quiet. Kind of a strange place. The staff was non-existent or invisible, except for the signs reinforcing all the rules. (i.e. "if more than 2 people are found in your room you will be told to leave", and signs about what the towels can and can't be used for complete with a rate card for charges). No one ever answers the phone, although they do respond to texts.
- Deborah (4/5): - I was very disappointed by my brief stay. The bed was unbearable - a giant marshmallow, the air conditioning unit was very loud and made it impossible to sleep and while there was a window, the exterior is blocked by a shade so that no natural light can enter. I couldn’t stay there and cut short our visit. For the traveler not bothered by comfort, noise and lack of sunlight, it may work but I was miserable.
