Guest Reviews
- Susanne (6/5): -
- John (8/5): A smaller hotel with bar right in the centre of town - It’s a smaller hotel with a bar right in the centre of town, well run, and in good condition. They serve a good breakfast at a reasonable price and there is £1 overnight parking at the council car park across the road. It is right on the main road, although overnight traffic is minimal. My bathroom was very compact and would be tricky for a larger person to manage.
- Paul (6/5): - You get what you pay for. Yes it’s basic and a bit dated and a noisy location, but it does the job and is cheap. I’d stay here again if passing through. Noisy location. Nothing they can do about it, but I hadn’t appreciated the fact from other reviews so I think it’s worth stating here.
- Andrew (6/5): Good bedroom poorly lit bar and breakfast room - Nice bedroom comfortable bed and great shower The bar and especially the breakfast room was dark and poorly lit
- Muhammed (10/5): -
- David (8/5): - The hotel is in need of a facelift
- Hirst (8/5): - Location Breakfast was at best OK
- Lesley (8/5): Great hotel for anyone on a budget - Easy to get to by road, great location. My bed was super comfy and I had a great couple of nights sleep, very quiet within the hotel
Friendly staff..especially the lady that was working Monday night. Didn't catch her name but she was lovely !! Nothing really...the room was quite warm but I could adjust the radiator and open the windows. Traffic noise started about 6am but expected staying in a town centre so not a problem
- Darren (1/5): Unclean, very thin walls - got less than 2 hours sleep - Staff were friendly Constant noise throughout the whole night, as the walls are paper thin. I slept less than 2 hours in total and then had to drive 6 hours. Could hear upstairs extremely loudly and next door had their tv on all night which was positioned on the same wall as the bed, so it was very loud. Even with noise cancelling headphones I couldn’t shut off the noise.
Bathroom had black mould in the shower - awful smell in the room too. Felt generally very unclean, dust build ups in places etc. I paid for breakfast, took one look and decided against it. If this is the state of the hotel in terms of hygiene and cleanliness standards, I certainly didn’t trust their kitchen to be held any higher. So I left the breakfast, and it didn’t look in the least bit appetising.
The staff were friendly though. But I massively wished I’d never stayed here!

- Michelle (8/5): Walking distance to the town center - Location
- Simon (6/5): - bed was very comfortable. Very close to train station and town centre. The room needs a good painting mouldy bathtoom and bedroom ceiling looks like it's had a leak sometime ago a very dated hotel.
You have to have the window closed as I had a front of hotel room over the maid road so very noisy.
Unusual not to have a socket by the bed had to charge my phone up seat from the bed near the kettle socket..
- Lisa Heyes (3/5): Shocking - Nice clean tidy bathroom. 1st room - Looked like an annex of the corridor. Supposed to be a twin room, but the beds were toe to toe. Unable to see TV in bed. Damp ceiling. 1 bottle of water and 1 packet of biscuits bearing in mind, two people staying and 1 hand towel. So we changed rooms, (as I'm asthmatic and with the damp ceiling, didn't want to stay in that room) looked online to see if we could get an upgrade, when approached staff, tried to charge us £100 instead of £85 (online price) for a superior double room. We were given an upgrade for free. However, the double bed, was like concrete, could feel springs digging in. Not comfortable whatsoever. We were only here for 1 night, so just made do. The bedsheet wasn't completely over the mattress and had dirty marks on it. Rolled back the sheets, the memory topper, (an inch of foam sheet) had seen better days. Again 1 bottle of water, 1 biscuit and 1 hand towel. About a 3 inch hole in the ceiling, curtain wouldn't overlap, as plastic hooks were missing. All in all not a 3 star hotel. Wouldn't stay again.
- Ion (5/5): It was ok - Location Getting in the car park
- Zena (2/5): Do not stay here ! - Location Bed absolutely a disgrace, impossible to sleep
- Jennifer (7/5): Clean and comfortable, good breakfast, friendly and welcoming staff and close to amenities. - The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the bed was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was good and the hotel was in a very convenient place to get to the town and also to get to other places we needed to visit. The hotel itself was also a very quiet hotel. The road noise outside the hotel was quite loud even with the window closed. The toilet and the sink seem to need an unblocking as the water in the sink was taking a while to go down and the toilet needed a few flushes to get anything down.
The room we stayed in just seemed to need a bit of an upgrade but it was clean and comfortable and that’s all we needed!
- Deborah (5/5): Good experience - Close to shops and cafes. Quiet at night. Exterior a bit shabby.
- Stuart (8/5): - Lovation Problums with room door
Hole in wall
Water leak from shower
- Patricia (9/5): - Handy for walking into town, good breakfast, friendly staff, nice old building Paying extra for parking the car was annoying
- Adrian (9/5): - staff are brilliant, nothing too much trouble
breakfast ok, standard selfservice.
location good for town centre room in dire need of some repairs, hole and staing in ceiling from leak above, i guess.
two areas on walls need plastering and painting.
toilet roll holder needs fixing so roll stays in place when using.
rooms otherwise very pleasant, lovely historiic charm.
still worth the visit

- Robert (10/5): Our go to in Haverfordwest! - Ticked every box for us! Best value for money in the town!!
- Naomi (9/5): -
- David (7/5): OK but nothing special. - Easy check in. OK room but a bit drab. Good location close to town centre and to the bus station. The hotel seems to be in slow decline. The restaurant mentioned in large letters on the outside of the building now serves only breakfast (which we did not have.). Room was OK but drab. Main room lighting was gloomy. The bedside stand had a separate small light but the wobbly desk did not. The door to the toilet area looked very home made and the ceiling over the shower needed paint. A newish illuminated sign by the entrance referred to a "boutique hotel". This description reflects aspiration rather than reality.
- Paul (1/5): First and last think I would have had a better nights sleep in car - Nothing Had to pay £6 to park bed mattress was absolutely disgusting thought springs was coming through breakfast for £9.50 was disappointing
- Kieran (3/5): -
- Carwyn (4/5): -
- Lesley (8/5): Good value for money room - Great stop over before our trip to Skomer island. Staff were so kind and very accommodating.
- Paulina (7/5): - I needed a base to explore Pembrokeshire and the County Hotel did the job, for a reasonable price as well. Hotel close to various shops and restaurants. The bathroom was a bit awkward and small. Would be difficult to maneuver for a tall person. Hotel parking charges £6 per night.
- Duncan (5/5): Lovely hotel but seriously letdown by bed mattress - Good size room, polite and friendly staff, good breakfast Bed was very uncomfortable, could feel all the springs which ruined the break. Noisy upstairs and people in hallway at 4am, could not connect Netflix
- Carolyn (8/5): - Room was spacious and well appointed. Lovely comfortable bed and tea/coffee making facilities included. Big shower and towels that actually wrapped around you easily! We were planning to have something to eat at the hotel when we arrived but unfortunately, they were not serving food so we had to go looking for a restaurant in the town. Fortunately, we found a lovely place (The Forbidden Florist) by the river that we would highly recommend.
- Lynne (9/5): Thank you - The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
- robbie (6/5): yes i would stay again was cheap enough made welcome bar prices were good / location good. - good staff couldn't do enough for us, great location good car park uncomfortable bed mattress had seen better days headboard was loose, poor sound proofing, creaky floorboards couldn't open windows , breakfast was dried up
- David (8/5): Convenient and fine for a short stay. - 2 night stay fine, as expected. Room was clean.
- Christopher (10/5): -
- Revy Mae (1/5): Didn’t stay, cause the place was so cold and I start having an allergic rhinitis. - None All
- Giles (9/5): Ideal for a short stay in Haverfordwest. - Great location with parking. Very friendly staff. N/a
- paul (8/5): -
- Anthony Armstrong (10/5): -
- Christine (8/5): Good value for money - The hotel/pub is just a few minutes walk from the railway station. The staff was very friendly and heloful. The room was clean and comfortable. It was very good value for money. There was a couple of minor decor issues. The bathroom door was a sliding door. It was wonky and not straight, and some of the plaster above the shower was peeling off.
- steven (10/5): -
- Ellie Austen (7/5): - Very good price Looked slightly tired
- Yvonne (5/5): It is what it is. - Location was perfect for us as my husband has mobility issues. Hotel is very tired. Clean bed linen but the mattress has seen better days and needs replacing. No useable mirror in the room especially if drying hair. Very close to the centre of the town. Needs a lick of paint. Staff friendly. Didn't eat in the hotel. Room at the front but very little road noise. It is what it is. A new mattress and a lick of paint.
- john (8/5): -
- Gregoire (4/5): -
- Sharon (6/5): - Staff friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and fairly freshly cooked. Room was small and cramped-we should have realised with the 'cosy' classification! This included the ensuite bathroom.
- Jackie (8/5): Will be staying again when I need to return home from the UK to Ireland - Very good and great service Would have been nice to have some seating of some sort in the room
- Mark (8/5): -
- Matthews (7/5): Good - Breakfast near to town centre
- Paul Lloyd (7/5): - Very convenient location Bathroom was very small
- Morgan (10/5): - Great location, so comfortable and lush staff. Great facilities and atmosphere
- Whip (7/5): Good Stay Overall - Friendly host at bar. Easy check in process. Can come and go at any time with our keys. Reasonable price. Great bathroom mirror and shower. Good facilities in room with iron and hairdryer. Good that there was water and a snack and coffee & tea in the room. Good location and parking on site. Thin walls, so could hear people in other rooms. Double bed was smaller than usual size. Toilet had orange tinged around the seat so felt unclean to sit on. Bed was very soft. Paying £6 for parking.
- Harvey (7/5): Value for money in Haverfordwest - Staff are friendly and helpful Needs modernising but price of stay is very good value for money
- philip (8/5): Nice place to stay very welcoming - Peace full night sleep.
Quiet area not disturbed.
Next to the town and local amenities.
- Carl (8/5): - Pulling up after the dreadful night we had in a similar property the previous night (different town) we were really surprised when we walked in the room..
Cleaner needs praise as the bathroom was spotless, not just clean, I mean you could tell they use products on the glass panels, not just the generic wipe down.
Warm, clean, good hot shower. Breakfast good the following morning. I feel parking should have been costed in the price.
Coffee wasn't much good at breakfast and the TV wouldn't tune in, but minor things.
- CRAIG (5/5): Very average - Dated, grotty, no food
- Karen (7/5): - Lovelly staff. Clean. Room size ok, Bed was not very comfortable
- Nigel (8/5): Very Pleasant - Welcoming Parking Charge
- Nigel (7/5): It was a pleasant stay with welcoming staff - Central A little tired
- Gareth (4/5): - Friendly staff, good location to places we were visiting. A large hole in the wall, uncomfortable beds, could hear other guests walking and talking which woke me up and I'm not a light sleeper (poor soundproofing).
- Lyam (7/5): Does what it says on the tin - Great location, great prices Shower in the room was a bit strange
- Deborah (7/5): -
- Ilana (10/5): Great stay and would definitely recommend to a friend! - Very clean and comfortable room, great value for money.
- Lisa Zeilstra (8/5): -
- Judith (9/5): Nice and quiet, convenient location. - Conveniently located for easy access. Car park is a little tight if vans are also there. The staff are very friendly! Shower is on the small side, but will do.
- Tim (10/5): Good value - Convenient location There was nothing I didn’t like. For the price I paid it was very good value. It’s not the Ritz, but it is very good value for money and the staff were very friendly.
- Huw (7/5): -
- Michelle (1/5): Builders accommodation. - Hotel Location, extra parking fee , small room, no space to park car even after paying.
- Barry (2/5): I didn’t expect to be asked for an additional sum to pay for parking at the hotel, after booking and - Matress was comfortable, pillows were cheap rubbish. Lots of bodged work. Bodged works / repairs, incomplete repairs Dangerous metal strips in the ensuite floor acting as restaints for the ensuite door.
Ensuite so small it's almost impossible to sit on the toilet. Paintwork peeling of the cieling over the shower. Shower door difficult to open and close fully. Damp coming through the cieling in the corner of the bedroom from the room above. I will enclose photographs seperately.
- Cj (1/5): Never again - The little kettle that kept us going during our stay No space to move around
The ceiling looked like it was going to come down in the corner.
The toilet door didnt even fully close leaving a gap so no privacy, no toilet brush to clean it.
The ceiling above the shower had the paint peeling and hanging down, to the point i didnt even use the shower.
By the toilet it looked like someone had just put up fresh plaster boards for the time being to hide what ever is behind it.
The heating was on the whole time and the window was wide open still couldnt catch a breath.
Bed was hard so i ended up sleeping on top of it with my own fleece blanket.
Think i slept a total of about 8 hours in the 2 days i was there.
Could hear every every step the tenants made above. The creeks were louder than the tv.
The tv its self was sometimes a mission as the remote wouldnt work and the tv stopped responding. i had to get up and switch it on and off at the mains a few time.
A random chair under the table by the kettle that blocks the way to get to the toilet, had to move that.
£6 per night for parking is crazy mad, you would think it would come in with the price you pay for the room.
Its a massive shame as the staff were really friendly and nice, it just sets a bad image on them and makes you feel bad for them. Im not one to do bad reviews as it makes me feel bad but this was one that needed to be done. Hopefully it helps to improve on these things.
P.s. For an idea, get smaller room keys keyrings as there so big.
- Pant (7/5): Good for one night stay near Broad Haven Beach - Staff was very friendly..They did warm up our home bought food in their microwave which helped a lot..Rooms were clean.. No Lift as it's an old converted building. Family room had shower inside the room which was bit awkward.
- Julius (9/5): -
- Natalie (8/5): - Location Sofa bed needs updating
- Andrew (5/5): - Location in town was good. Parking on site. Paying for parking, that's a bit tight. Toilet was a very tight fit next to the shower unit. Room needs a good lick of paint, net curtains very dirty.
- Muhammed (9/5): -
- Craig (9/5): Decent place for decent money - Clean, tidy and had everything needed for a night's rest before work next morning.
- Jones (10/5): - Where it situation
- Mcbride (5/5): The worst Hotel in Haverfordwest, but mostly cheap. - The Woman doing the booking in was pleasant enough compared to the gobby mare I encountered last time I stayed there, and there were no INTRUSIONS into My room while im in the shower like last time, maids were polite and helpful while I was leaving in the morning. Black mould in the shower, very pokey room.
- Simon (7/5): A comfortable stay would use it again - Room was clean and tidy A few little things need to be addressed. The shower door in my bathroom needs to be fixed
- Harding (10/5): - I liked the value. The bed was comfortable and clean. The shower was better than that at home. the rooms do need updating, but it's a difficult time. Tea and coffee facilities, great TV.. Stayed here while visiting my mum at Withybush Hospital. Will stay again.
- Ed (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Comfortable friendliness - At breakfast staff made sure you were coping Nothing
- Neil (3/5): Would not visit again. - The hotel is on a major dual carriageway and is noisy. The room was really cramped and had an uncomfortable bed and very tired decor. There was no food available at night and at breakfast there was only instant coffee and limited, low quality food.
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Tara (8/5): Nice hotel close to the train station and the centre of town - Nice place, cozy, welcoming and close to the train station
- Paul (8/5): A pleasant and convenient place to stay. - A very friendly place, well positioned close to town centre. The building and decor is looking tired.
- Alouise (8/5): Enjoyable and in a good town centre location - Very nice breakfast. Lots of choice and very cheerful staff Happy with what was on offer and the dining room
- Jahrel (7/5): -
- Dawn (3/5): I had to drive home next day 6 hours with no sleep. - Breakfast The room was tiny and the walls are paper thin, the person in the room next door had their tv that loud all night and their talking I had no sleep, then in the morning, you could hear them sat on the toilet.
- Anthony (5/5): Very disappointing arrived the room was freezing cold no heating on,window wide open ,a very small shower,I am disabled - It was near shops and restaurant It was cold, breakfast kept warm too long and got cold very quickly.
- John (10/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): Easy central dog friendly stay - Nicely decorated double bedroom on the top floor - liked the colour scheme and the tartan carpet. Powerful shower, but the shower room heeds new flooring and some fresh paint. Little extras like bottled water, packs of biscuits, iron and ironing board and hairdryer...wasn't expecting those. It's dog friendly, and proved very easy for our rather edgy collie. Plenty of facilities close by, and we were able to park for a fee. Staff were friendly and helpful. There's an attractive bar area. Bathroom could do with new flooring, but had good quality fittings on the whole, and free toiletries.
- Donna (4/5): -
- Katherine (5/5): Not an uncomfortable stay but wouldn’t stay in Haverfordwest. - It’s central for visiting Pembrokeshire in all directions. The ‘cosy’ room is tiny. Unfortunately, the bar doesn’t attract much custom.
- Sally-Ann (3/5): Basic short stage. - That you had a car park.
It was a reasonable price, however if I knew how basic it would be I would not have booked it.
Convenient location. Breakfast wasn't served until 7.30 despite asking if this could be made earlier during booking. The receptionist said no on arrival. No evening meals or snacks served.
The stairs up to the room were narrow and uneven making it extra difficult to carry luggage up to the room. The room was very basic with the paint and walls crumbling. The curtains did not cover the window letting the draft, noise and shining street lights into the room. The bed mattress lacked comfort and needed updating.
The radiator in the bathroom had a layer of dust bult up on each rung.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent value. - Excellent location and although my room was at the back there was no traffic noise at all. It’s close to the railway station (walk the north side round the roundabout) and bus station (currently will need to walk into the town centre behind the hotel to get to it).
Room was comfortable, warm and quiet.
The bathroom was small but had all you need. Ultra-small sink though if you are thinking of washing any clothes!
Breakfast was self service but had all you need.
Excellent value for money: cheap, clean, comfortable, friendly. Room was very small: would have preferred bigger but it still felt very good value.
