• Penny (9/5): We would definitely stay there again. We hope Appomattox will revive their historical city. - The hostess, Dana, I believe, was so nice and welcoming. Plus her breakfast of french toast was well enjoyed. We stayed in the well decorated and ample carriage house surrounded by their lovely back yard. We were challenged to find the way to turn off the many lights in the Carriage House and we did not locate the ac/heat thermostat until the morning. Since it was set at 66 degrees it was too cold for us, and when we realized our dilemma we felt it was too late to call the hostess. Secondly the historical town looked deserted and in disrepair; no charming small restaurants to discover. We ate dinner at an Italian place, Pinos, located in a strip mall, pasta was good, chicken marsala a disappointment.

At 11 at night when someone decided to sit there and pull back the chair, it woke us up due to the proximity of our room. Then after a while they shoved the chair back in and the noise woke us up.

Enjoyed walking through the garden area as well. The only downside for me was the pillows. They were not as comfortable as I had expected.

• Amber (10/5): A perfect night in the Magnolia Room. - Every detail , decor and amenity was above and beyond. We stayed one night , but we will definitely be back. The Magnolia room was pure heaven. It was like out of a movie. A private entrance with a garden view , birds chirping, landscaping was perfection and the ease of check in was lovely. Nothing. Every detail was carefully thought and executed. The ease of check in and out. Breakfast was delicious and privacy was great. Amenities and special touches were a treat.

• Dogmom2012 (9/5): Anniversary/Birthday Trip - I loved the king sized bed that was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was simple but filling. The room was spacious which was nice. I loved the multiple seating options. The bathroom was spacious, as well. There was plenty of storage available which was an added plus. I loved the removable handheld shower head. We cannot wait to visit next year. I know that it will be hard to install because of the age of the house, but it would have been nice to have a handrail for the stairs to the bathroom, and at least one grab bar for the shower. I would of liked a simple desk chair at the desk in the room.

• Lurese (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing stay - We stayed for three nights in the Carriage House which was so spacious and very comfortable. It had a cabin feel and the garden around it is beautiful. We had breakfast one morning, coffee was fresh, orange juice, pancakes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruits, oatmeal, cereal and other things. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Location was perfect for us as it is in the historic center of Appomattox, away from the heavier traffic of Lynchburg. Easy drive to:/from Liberty University. We will return for sure.

• Susan (6/5): A beautiful antique house - The house is graciously prepared, and the management was very helpful about our late arrival. Breakfast was lovely. It's obviously a,very old house, with period furnishings. It was less comfortable than I expected, while still beautifully done. Guests should ascertain whether they can easily manage steep stairs and sleep on a very firm mattress.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was stunning. However, i would not consider tbis property a B&B. I called the owners multiple times and never recieved a phone call back. When I texted about an emergent situation it took hours to hear back. When I think of a B&B i expect to meet the host, at least at breakfast. However we never saw or heard them at all. My daughter was actually so freaked out about the whole situation she slept wifh the lights on and asked if the place was run by ghosts or fairies. So while the place ia stunning the customer service and relationship portion that truly make a B&B a B&B were completely lacking.

Little things were great, like the bath robe provided, good water pressure, extra blankets, ambiance of music, desk with ice bucket/glasses and book of nearby restaurants/things to do. Better yet, the private entrance! Hope to return soon! Nothing negative. Everything was great!

Lovely, themed rooms, beautiful outside gardens, and access to the common living spaces. We got an excellent breakfast in the morning as well. I would love to come back some day.

• Allan (10/5): Great place to get away from the world’s aggravations and reenergize. - The grounds are exceptionally large and beautiful. If you had a stressful time in life, this is the place to relax, read and reflect. Great place also for family. The 3 sitting rooms on the first floor have comfy chairs and couches, loads of books on the shelf, travel and places of interest brochures and loads of games (board & card) games to play. Coffee is available 24/7. The proprietors are excellent. The weather but they had no control over that. But it really didn’t make a difference.

Owners extremely helpful when we needed to replace our credit card and were hard to reach as on the road! Lovely self-serve breakfast! The weather was freezing cold with an Arctic blast when we visited, and although the bedroom was nice and comfortable, we couldn't find a heater for the ensuite bathroom!

I imagine it would be paradise in the spring! I met one of the owners, a lovely host! The sheets on the bed were so soft and smooth, and I appreciated the selection of books. The heat in my room didn't seem to be working properly. However, it was such a picturesque room that I sent pictures to my friends and family!

This is our second stay, and we look forward to our next visit. Very minor thing for me was no breakfast meat with the French toast.

• Robert (7/5): An older but comfortable B&B - We liked the king bed, large and comfortable. And the breakfast was delicious, with homemade pancakes. The downstairs rooms were comfortably furnished, and a nice place to rest and read the paper or a book. This is an older building, and the bathroom situation in the room was not to our liking. Three steps down to enter the bathroom, with no railing, took us to a shower/tub with no grab bar. This is why I gave 2 stars for Facilities, even though the rest of the B&B is very good. The Following is an issue over Billing, NOT about the B&B accommodations: We've also had an issue with checking out. The owners do not have a desk for check-in/check-out, so when we found out we didn't need to be in town for a second night, we wondered what to do. Fortunately, one of the lady owners, Dana, found us reading in the living room at 8 am, and I said we wanted to check out that morning, one day earlier than our reservation called for. She told me "No problem. She'd tell the lady who handles reservations". We left by 11 am, but found out the next morning that we were charged for the second night after all. My two messages sent via their website explaining and asking for a refund have gone unanswered. This remains unresolved, but I am willing to remove this issue and possibly adjust my review if Longacre will please respond to me and help resolve the issue.
