- Dominique (6/5): - L'emplacement devant le palais municipal, la propreté, le design très élégant la chambre décorée sur le thème de Rulfo, rare, même si un peu petite , le calme même si peu insonorisée, le parking à côté L'absence de petit déjeuner ( il vaut mieux se contenter de la boutique à côté car à 9h du matin tout le monde dort à Orizaba!), le prix est quand même démesuré lorsqu'il n'y a pas de petit déjeuner !

- Ale_Erika2011 (2/5): Dishonest Staff and Downgraded Stay – Never Again - I booked 3 nights in the Master Suite, a room we’ve stayed in several times before. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed me that the A/C in that suite wasn’t working and that we would be downgraded to another room. However, I happened to walk by the suite I had reserved and saw that it was already occupied by someone else. Clearly, the story about the A/C was a lie. When I confronted her, she changed her story and claimed the mattress was damaged. It wasn’t until I mentioned legal action that she sent me to the front desk to “resolve” the issue. We ended up staying in the downgraded room simply because we had a tight schedule and were already there. Unfortunately, every staff member we interacted with tried to cover for one another, each repeating different excuses. The owner was present and offered a complimentary dinner, but I didn’t want a free meal—I just wanted the suite I paid for. The downgraded room felt cheap and neglected. The shower doors were covered in old soap scum, and the room showed clear signs of wear and tear. After this experience, we’ll be looking for a new hotel in the area. It’s disappointing to see such poor service and dishonesty from a place we used to enjoy. A real shame.

- Simon (7/5): Lovely location but disappointing stay - The location is excellent, could walk everywhere and Orizaba is a very safe and very interesting city. Room was a good size, and it was comfortable, but its situation poor. We arrived a little early but were made to wait until 15.00, we observed that no one went to the room during that time. It was ready when we arrived!!! The noise levels were close to intolerable, early hours shouting, talking, drunks. We were given the first room on ground floor so could hear everything. Choice of shutting window and freezing or leaving window open and even more noise. Breakfast was not good! Coffee undrinkable.

La primera noche nos despertaron golpes muy fuertes a la puerta primita del hotel además de que sonaba el teléfono y nadie contestaba. Al dia siguente (fiesta de año nuevo) preguntamos si habia quien nos abriera el hotel al volver y dijeron q si. Al regresar (1:30 am) estuvimos tocando la puerta y nadie nos abria, no podíamos estacionar la camioneta porque el personal es quien abre el estacionamiento. Un huésped después de escuchar q tocabamos la puerta tuvo q bajar a abrirnos y la camioneta se quedó estacionada en la calle.

Staff could be better trained to welcome guests. They did their job ok but it didn’t feel warm like in most other boutique hotels. The size of the glass in the included breakfast is ridiculously tiny.

- J ALLAN (10/5): Beautiful establishment! Great location! - As per the title we loved this boutique hotel! It has wonderful staff and a very unique ambiance. All the rooms are very imaginatively appointed with lots of well preserved antiques. The only small issue we had was that although coffee was included with the breakfast, tea was not, but we weren’t told about this until we checked out. It wasn’t a lot of money but it was a bit of a surprise. We are from Canada where this is not considered usual, and although it may be normal practice in Mexico, we still think it would be nice to mention it to us when we checked in or at least in the restaurant, maybe with a note on the menu

La limpieza no estuvo tan cuidada, me cambiaron de habitación el día de mi llegada ya que no salía agua caliente y la nueva habitación tenía cabellos y vellos en el piso del baño y la meseta que evidentemente no eran míos. El lugar es bonito y la respuesta en servicio de quienes atienden es buena, pero me decepciono en cuanto a espacio para descansar. Uno busca alejarse del bullicio de la ciudad y te encuentras con más ruido y peor de niños y adolescentes que parece que van a la escuela a cualquier cosa menos a estudiar, no entiendo cómo no han hablado con las autoridades del colegio para hacerlo notar, se supone que es escuela no parque de diversiones, es un nivel exagerado los gritos por horas.

- Michael C (10/5): A classy small hotel - A great little hotel. We were lucky to get the room named Cri-Cri, my wife’s favorite children’s story character. Everything was excellent, and one detail shows that the hotel’s designer is a 21st century expert. The power plugs are ABOVE the nightstands, not down low and hard to reach like the run-of-the-mill hotels. And the rooms arranged around the central courtyard are a throwback to the classy hotels in Mexico. The location is great; near the important parts of Orizaba, but not on the main drag.

- bgerber948 (10/5): great Boutique Hotel - I stayed in Tres79 Boutique hotel for 4 nights and my wife for 8 extra days. the room are very nice and have all the amenities including a gourmet coffee machine. it is centrally located across form city hall, with great service, and good breakfasts. they have a nice central patio, great for relaxing or eating in and a small coffee shop and restaurant. it could be the best hotel in town. a winner!!!
- Lakesidehero (8/5): 2 night part of 3 day visit - I arrived by ADO bus from Veracruz (240 pesos) took just over 2 hours. Nice bus ride and very easy to do. 10 minute cab ride to Hotel Alameda. It is a small budget hotel. They have basics only. No ac and needed to ask for a fan. The hotel was in a great location for walking. It is across the street from a large park. I was told the park used to have live music on weekend but covid canceled it. The cable car to the top of the mountain was a great view. It was just a 3 or 4 block walk to the entrance. Ticket allows you to have 2 hours to walk around the mountain and take pic. That is plenty of time. There is a river walk. Along the walk are zoo type animals and in the other direction there is murals or art on the walls to check out. I went to a few restaurants. They were all good in some ways. Oh i got sushi. I recommend NOT to get the meat roll. I was curious. I got it and it was bad. Meat(beef) is not for sushi but i guess its a thing here in Orizaba. I went to the iron palace. A few museums inside where interesting. They were small but interesting. There was a history, soccer and beer museum. Lots of shops to browse in the town. I found the pueblo to be very clean and safe for what i was doing. The town is much bigger than a pueblo... but the main tourist spot is central. I would go back to visit, but there is many other locations to visit in the Veracruz area too.

- WorldTraveler639 (4/5): Impossible to sleep, terrible breakfast - The location of this hotel is great (right on the main street) and the decor is nice, but that's it. 1) it is impossible to sleep. you hear everything happening in the restaurant and the courtyard. it's ok during the day, but not in the middle of the night. one night we were woken up by kids playing in the courtyard after 11pm. another night we were woken up at 3am by a group of (drunk?) people yelling for 20 minutes. the receptionist (who sits in the courtyard) should ask guests to be considerate of other people and not scream. instead, she did nothing and I had to get out of bed and ask them to stop. 2) the breakfast is horrible. dry toast, cold coffee, and a few slices of frozen fruit. it would be better if they served nothing at all.

- purpletaffy (10/5): Fabulous Boutique Experience in Orizaba - Centrally located in Orizaba, this place is a real find. Each of the rooms is decorated to honor a different Mexican artist. The room was small, efficient and very charming, The courtyard is amazing, I took my breakfast there everyday. The staff feature a number of English speakers, which is rare in Orizaba. Everyone I interacted with was courteous and kind. I got bus directions from the front desk and they were perfect. There is no elevator, so if you have heavy bags you might want a 1st floor room. Very safe.

- 232angelicap (6/5): Restaurant - no tap water served - The food is ok, but I was mighty disappointed that they would refuse to serve me iced tap water - they were only willing to serve bottled water. In these times when we have such a huge plastics problem worldwide, and Veracruz state has just banned plastic straws, this attitude is just ludicrous.

Being that it is the most expensive in town, I felt being charged 35p if you drank the bottled water, very cheap. Also, if all you want for breakfast is basic pan and coffee this is the offerring, again cheap. The staff and the rooms were excellent. Dinner in the hotel was good.

Warning to credit card users.....very few places take credit cards. My TV in the room did not work and the amenities are dated. Better off in Holiday Inn Express and take taxis to better restaurants that take credit cards.

- 525marliesa (10/5): Best weekend - We came for a weekend to Orizaba and friends recommended this hotel warmly. I can only agree, it’s one of the best boutique hotels I have visited recently. The reception was great, attendance outstanding. My room (Rulfo) was fantastic. A wonderfully decorated room with a large bed and the bathroom facilities design differently, very nice. The room was very, very clean. The little cafe , part of the hotel actually bakes their own macaroons , delicious. The breakfast offer was European , but we chose the typical Mexican for a little extra. Absolutely worth it, I can recommend ‘Frieda Kahlo’, if you like tortillas and mole. The staff was without exception absolutely lovely . The hotel has maintained the colonial style and is perfect maintained. If you can go visit Orizaba ( by the way, wonderful city), stay at Tres79, you will not regret it!

Beds not the most comfortable as could have a bit more support while away same time being slightly softer and 2. We loved the showers but the toilet could be A LOT more private... overall wonderful and yes we're would stay again. Internet is awesome by the by.

The service is phenomenal, the place is stunningly beautiful, the quality of rooms and common spaces is beyond expectations, and it all becomes a little heaven in the buzz of the city below. Everyone on staff has a level of professionalism that is unparalleled in many other places. Every detail in this hotel has been carefully crafted to elevated standards, with taste, with care, and it shows. I am not being paid to write this, I have actually now stayed twice at this hotel and I love it. Every time I go back to the area, Tres79 will be my home away from home. The head chef has designed a number of delights for the palate, please try her creative citrus salmon! The location is perfect: conveniently close to city centre, yet away from the busy, narrow streets from downtown and next to the Alameda. Take time to be papered by Tres79 while you visit Orizaba. It is absolutely worth it!
