Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): - We like Nakhon Phanom. When we go their we just chose a hotel not expensive. This hotel i just fine, close to the restaurants and Mekong River.
- Davone (10/5): - Everything is good
- Davone (8/5): - Very nice and clean
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- On_Like_Saigon (8/5): Great value, everything about staying here was easy - Clean rooms. Great location. Nice restaurant across the street as well.
I needed to stay in town for the night in transit from Laos to Bangkok.
The breakfast was average, but all things considered, great stay here. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Très bonne situation, petit déjeuner copieux et varié.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- 510chuls (6/5): Good location, worth what you pay - Rather new, budget hotel. The most disadvantage for me is that shower area is not separate from toilet, so when you take a shower the whole bathroom is wet all over and there is an inch-high floor step in the middle of bathroom which may cause you to stumble on and get hurt. Other than that is fine if you are not looking for full amenities. Towel, 2 bottles of drinking water a day, television (weak signal, poor picture quality), 2.5 cu.fridge are provided. Self service breakfast corner of bread and jam, coffee or coco. Local (pork) noodle soup or Sunny side up egg in a local stlye (With local sausage) can be orderd switch every other day. The advantage is that many restaurant is in the walking distance including convenience store such as 7-11. Mekhong river is just 5 minuyrs away on foot. Room rate is under US$20/day including breakfast. 11 miles from airport.
- Lor (10/5): - Reasonable price, excellent staff, and I would recommend this hotel to other guests who does not have much budget.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- YoungGun (6/5): Average hotel, but good value for money - Stayed at 777 Hometel during a visit to Nakhon Phanom; unfortunately my preferred hotel was sold out so I opted for this one via Agoda as it had many positive reviews.
Paid £18.00 for a VIP room, which was a large room which included a desk and computer and all the other essentials expected from a hotel.
I was disappointed with the state of the room, as the lamp shade by the bed was broken and the shower curtain was covered with mould stains. Plus my biggest gripe when staying in Thailand - the room was full of mosquitoes.
On the positive side, the WiFi was good and there was ample parking onsite. Plus the location of the hotel is near the main nightlife with quite a few bars and restaurants only 100 yards away.
As this will probably be my one and only visit to Nakhon Phanom, it was still a pleasant stay and the hotel is certainly value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Randall (8/5): 777Hometel - One night stay at the hotel. Walking area to everything. Enough parking. Only the manager speaks English. Basic economy hotel. Breakfast was basic but free. Eggs and toast with juice and coffee. Room was clean and in ok condition. Nothing special but nothing wrong either. what would be expected for the price.
- Valdostrano978 (10/5): Good hotel in a nice town - We slept in this hotel before crossing the border to Laos.
The room was very confortable and clean. Also the breakfast was good. The staff speek a little bit english.
I recomend to spend one night in Nakhon Phanom, it's so cute and also the nightlife whith many restaurants and pubs
- Verified traveler (10/5): Strategic location, Comfortable Stay, Good value - We had an issue when checking in: I booked via Hostel.com but they coudn't find my booking. Apparently in their record my booking is under Expedia. So we wasted some time verifying my booking. But after that, no more issue. It was in fact a very good stay. Strategic location. Breakfast was simple but with the room rate we paid the breakfast is of good value. Room is of adequate size. Staff are friendly and helpful. One of them can speak fluent Chinese. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is excellent. Service is good. Room is a bit small for couple with a child.
- Stephen (8/5): - Great location and comfortable rooms.
Good breakfast served in spacious patio area - limited to 2 rotating options but good quality and large servings.
Good WiFi speeds
Manager has good English but other staff have limited English but all are helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unacceptable! No extension for a few hours. - After booked and stayed for so many days, the hotel cannot accommodate a few hours extension and instead choose to charge half a day of room rate. Totally unacceptable.
- George (8/5): Clean room - Room and floor are spotless.
- George (6/5): 7 days of stay yet reject 3 hours of extension - I reserved 2 rooms (3 pax) for a total of 7 days and the staff refused to allow us for a few hours of extension. Instead they choose to charge us half a day of room rate for 3 hours of extension. Inflexible in dealing with customers and disappointed with their customer service who cannot speak English.
- Chavalit (8/5): Good Location - A lot of restaurants surrounding the hotel and near by night market
- Andrew (6/5): Not impressed - 777 not visible on any external signs. Ground floorfloor Room was dark with view on to a wall, mattress extremely hard. Heard staff late putting out crockery for breakfast next morning. Was woken at 6am to 3 members of staff talking and laughing loudly. Breakfast was supposed to be noodle soup but only had two tiny pork balls in each and a few under cooked noodles in the tasteless broth, no greens to add on or flavouring the only other choice was sweet bread for toasting. No effort made at all for breakfast. I know only a cheap hotel but they need to try a bit harder.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- lucw252 (6/5): Good for one night - The hotel is situated close to the river what is nice for the evening walk, and close to interesting places and market, restaurants.
The Staff is very friendly and breakfast is good.
Rooms are small but clean but the bed can be softer but this is a personal aspect.
Also you will get a bad smell when you enter the room.
Parking is ad the hotel.
When you take a room see that you have the side from the parking on the back you will look to a other building what is not so nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- David (10/5): Happy - Clean room and very helpful staff
- HondaMike (8/5): Nice hotel in a small city. Good location - This is a good 3 star hotel. Located close to many attractions: Only a 5 minute walk to the river and EXCELLENT night market. Day market is 7 minute walk.
Must go see the new dragon on the river near center town... it is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Go at night to see it under the lights.
MANY restaurants form 1 to 8 minute walk. The Ohio has excellent atmosphere... I recommend it for a nice lunch or dinner. Also have many small local restaurants that have excellent food for 50 baht.
Hotel has bicycles for you to use to ride along the river bike path. Very nice to do.
Hotel is clean. Rooms are good size. Bed are comfortable. In room refrigerator. Hot water.
Free Breakfast is basic. Eggs, toast, coffee, orange juice, milk, hot chocolate. Fresh products.
Night market is amazing. Can buy many new clothes for 20 to 50 baht. Nice jacket for 100 baht. All are new styles and very good quality.
7-11 just around the corner.
Nice bakers only 3 minute walk toward the river. Big selection of food and pastries for a low price.
I will stay here again next month. Because the location close to river, bakery, 7-11, night market.
- Philip0305 (8/5): Nice hotel in downtown Nakhon Phanom - This hotel is in a great location in downtown Nakhon Phanom. It is close to many nice restaurants, shops, banks and markets. It is just down a side street meaning it is still very quiet. The hotel is a 3/4 minute walk from the riverside and night market. It is a 200 THB taxi ride from the airport and a 50 THB tuk tuk ride to the main bus station.
The rooms and common areas at the 777 Hometel are clean, modern and well-maintained. The room includes 2 free bottles of water and some free toiletries in the bathroom. I stayed in a twin bed room, but the beds were comfortable and I had a decent sleep. The TV has many channels, albeit only a few English ones, and the WIFI worked reasonably well. There is a fridge and a large wardrobe in the room as well as sufficient storage space. On the negative side, the room I was in did not have a good view and could have done with a paint.
The free breakfast, served next to the reception, was quite basic but decent. On the first morning, Vietnamese noodles were served and on the second, pan-fried eggs with sausage was offered. There is also juice, tea/coffee and toast provided
Even the room was not huge it is still more than enough for a couple. The 777 Hometel represents a real bargain at 590 baht for what it provides. I must also mention the friendly and helpful staff who dealt with all my queries and provided detailed advice about sightseeing and travelling around Nakhon Phanom. Next time I'm back in Nakhon Phanom, I will stay there again.
- salu47 (8/5): Every year again - I stay for the 5th time in this Hotel in the last 3 years (short and long stay)
As every time I find an always friendly staff, perfectly clean, comfortable rooms with everything you need.
Don't let you fool by the interesting price, it is worth every Baht!! including simple, but good breakfast.
- Ayutthaya-History (6/5): Good night rest - Used the facilities of this hotel during our 800 Km bicycle ride from Nong Khai to Ubon Ratchathani. Situated at short walking distance from the Mekong River front and the Vietnamese Memorial. Rooms with the classic set-up (air-conditioning, television, refrigerator). We received rooms at the ground floor, so that we could easily secure our bicycles. Unfortunately the rooms were situated close to the 'Staff Only' section and we could hear noise all afternoon from the cleaners in the hallways and reception.
The rooms and bathrooms, though not very spacious, were clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and informative. Free Wi-Fi and a light breakfast were included in the price. Cannot add much more than that we had a good night rest. Correct price/quality ratio. Would overnight there again.
- Yarcap (8/5): Clean room for reasonable price - My wife and me spent one night in the hotel in November 2015. We were pleasantly surprised to see a quite clean room and good quality bedlinen because the price we paid for the room was really modest. The were no insects in the room but there were a few mosquitoes in the lobby where they served breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was ok for that price. The only drawback to mention is that personnel almost didn't speak and could hardly understand English. However, the overall value for money was definitely above 100%.
- Tabmit (8/5): Solid budget choice - A simple, clean, well-run place. There's no river view, but it is right in the middle of town near many good restaurants and only a short walk to the river. Bikes are available, which is nice because Nakhon Phanom is ideal for biking since there is little traffic. Fast internet too.
- GaryMuc (8/5): Convenient hotel in the city centre - Staying in Nakhon Phanom without a car means you should stay central. This hotel is very well located, walking distance to walking street and river. Construction is simple, so it's very clairaudient. I had the worst room (#203, at the staircase), so you hear everyone entering the building. Rooms need renovation. No english TV-channels. View to the parking site, small windows and limited view die to the air-con-machine outside. Breakfast offers simple dishes, instant coffee and toast/butter/jam (no knifes available). The GM speaks very good english and helps with good information about what to do and what to see. Bike rental is 50THB/day.
- JFoppes (8/5): highly recommended - Excellent for short stays in Nakhon Phanom: centrally located near to all city center restaurants, good service, simple but clean rooms, easy to get transport to and from airport. They serve breakfast, everything works.
- Kokomo_Man (10/5): Great for the price - I stayed in this hotel for two nights. It was clean, comfortable, and the aircon worked very well. Like all Thai beds, they are very firm, but this one was in good condition.
Most stuff including lots of places to eat are within walking distance. If you want to venture a little farther they rent scooters and cars there.
A light breakfast of coffee, orange juice, toast and jam is included with the room.
The staff has adequate English skills which made checking in and out easy.
If I ever go back to Nakhon Phanom I would stay at this hotel again.
- phetsarath (8/5): Definitely worth a stay - Tucked on a small side street that sees very little traffic, the hotel is within walking distance of the riverfront, being a mere five minutes on foot away from the clock tower. For convenience it can't be beat: head towards Bumrung Muang Road and you'll find an abundance of eateries (Rung Chao Phraya being particularly popular with the locals) and groceries; turn right towards the mighty Mekong and you'll come across a bunch of restaurants, including one serving western dishes, lining the corners of the Fueang Nakhon-Thamrong Prasit junction.
Having decided to splurge a bit more than usual we paid 790 baht for a deluxe double-bedded room. While the unassuming decor is evocative of an upscale dorm, the amenities provided include a desktop computer(!) and a home theatre system, complete with surround sound speakers and a dvd player (the hotel has a small library of dvds - mainly Hollywood affairs and a smattering of local blockbusters - for guests to choose from). Amongst the more mundane offerings are a tiny refrigerator, a hairdryer, and an electronic safe. And a stack of Thai-language glossies.
Enhancing the room's dorm-like character is the bathroom, which is positively spartan and consisting solely of a flush toilet, shower head, and wash basin. The lack of a partition effectively means that the two-thirds of this little space is bound to get splashed regardless of how careful you are. Not that we minded.
Bicycle rentals and airport pickups can be easily arranged. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel offers a rudimentary self-service breakfast that is probably best avoided in favour of all the nearby eating joints.
Perhaps most commendable of all is a map studded with restaurant recommendations which the super helpful staff will happily provide free of charge. Considering the dearth of information available in the Rough Guides and Lonely Planet guides, getting a hold of this treasure trove is a definite must.
Prospective visitors to this endearing riverside town would do well to consider staying at 777 ("Tong Jed" in Thai) Hometel. Go for a bog standard room (currently priced at 590 baht) if you want more bang for your buck.
- salu47 (8/5): Clean, friendly - This Hotel is located almost in the center of Nakhon Phanom. Within walking distance to the Riverbank of the Mekong River and the walking street with Evening-market on Friday and Saturday.
Even so the room is booked with no breakfast, you find OJ, coffee, toast, butter and jam in the lobby at no extra charge.
All is very clean from Lobby to rooms.
The rooms offer all you need, Flat TV, Fridge, amenities in the shower.
All in all a really good price/performance! Will be back!
For long stay (1 month), contact directly for even better deal!
- Arambros (8/5): Simple but good - This is my second time to stay in this Hotel. The location of Hotel is good, close to everything like convenience store, restaurants, walking street on Friday and Saturday and also the Mekong River. Room is basic and clean. They provide simple breakfast in the morning (Coffee, Tea, Juice, Bread and Jam) .Here you can also rent a motorcycle to wander around the city.
- Nattiya29 (8/5): Really happiness of this place. - This is very best hotell and best service all stuff is was really friendly and smile. The one thing i liked it room is clean and quiet. Not so farway from the shop or market 10 minute go by walk to meakhong river. And thankful of yourhelpful. I will come back to choose this hotell again. :) :)
(Review from Nordman family)
- yoba2390 (6/5): Simple hotel for a night stay - 777 is not the place you'll enjoy to spend all your holidays, simple place, quite clean but rather basic and quite noisy from guest in the night. The hotel is well located , not far from centre, as well enough close of the river side and food area, internet was slow, but free of charges, some coffee and toast are available at the "coffee corner" included in the price of the room. Staff is quite nice and polite, as well 777 has a car park. Hotel is situated in very quiet area and nice countryside ambiance.
- NoAngelNZ (8/5): Peaceful spot in centre of "town" - We went to Nakhon Phanom on a whim thanks to Air Asia special fares and really enjoyed it.
Booked Hometel through Booking.com which was all simple. We booked an airport pick-up (which was a steep 500 baht) which never turned up - although we got a transfer at the airport for 100 baht each so it worked out for the best.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the a/c worked well, as did the TV and fridge. Had a little trouble getting extra pillows the first night as the receptionist didn't really speak English, but the next night took down a pillow to demonstrate and she gave us one.
Didn't try the "breakfast" based on other reviews here, plus we were never up early enough. There's a bakery basically across the road, as well as a 7 Eleven and a lot of eateries near by (only a couple have English menus though).
Hotel sorted return transfers back to the airport (120 baht each). I would recommend staying here as it's very good value for money and the rooms were very clean and in a good state.
