Guest Reviews
- Mandy (10/5): Lovely relaxing break. - Beautiful cottage, lovely and clean. They left us a fabulous treat box and a bunch of roses. The cottage had everything we needed and more. There was nothing to not like.
- Stephen (10/5): It was an amazing stay providing everything g we needed with an extra gift hamper provided. - It was very luxurious and a very quiet location. It was just what we wanted with two bedrooms, large bathroom & extra toilet in the utility area. The property could get very hot.
- Vitali (10/5): - Fantastic cottage and very welcoming hosts.
- Graham (10/5): Quite, relaxing and very comfortable - The location was ideal for us, the best surprise was the greeting pack it was very generous Nothing
- Lianne (10/5): Exceptional cottage. - Everything at the cottage was perfect. It was an oasis for a weary traveller and there is nothing that Malcolm and Pip hadn't thought about for the comfort of their guests along with a welcome basket and note to the flowers on the kitchen table, and the lovely eggs, milk and bread. My goodness it really was a wonderful stay. Our only problem was we couldn't stay longer. Absolutely nothing.
- penelope (9/5): Very enjoyable and relaxing near superb countryside - Quiet Country location, but near M6 or Hadrians Wall. Interesting walks nearby.Maps and other local info leaflets around. Good quality furnishings . Clean. Spacious shared bathroom, plus extra loo. Utility room with big freezer.Kitchen well equipped. Nice welcome pack with local produce. Warm. Electric car charger . Big TV. Easy parking. Outside patio with garden furniture Could have done with more dinner and side plates, as there was a dishwasher. Otherwise very well equipped

- Alfred (10/5): Extraordinary stay at Heads Nook for a week ! - Heads Nook Cottage is really a nice and comfortable place to visit the Western part of Hadrian's Wall (which we were hiking), and also at a reasonable driving distance of the Lake District, so ideally situated. It's large, very comfortable (beds are super good - we just came from another cottage that had bad beds, so this was a very nice change for us), the house is nicely decorated, the living room is just so nice to relax and enjoy some music. The kitchen is perfect, with all needed appliances. And the presence of a washing machine and a dryer is really a plus when you hike and need regular clothes changes. Last (but not least) the warm welcome by Malcolm, and the nice treats when we arrived were really appreciated. Also the very quick resolution of a boiler problem shows that the hosts are there to resolve any of our issues. That was greatly appreciated ! Really nothing to report here ! All was perfect.
- Iain (10/5): Perfect, just perfect. - Amazing property which the lovely cottage adjoins. Malcolm and Pip were very welcoming and I’m sure would have been available if we had needed them but the cottage was fantastic and we didn’t.
It was very well equipped and furnished and we needed for nothing.
The complimentary basket was amazing, from wine to biscuits.
Also Rosie our border collie enjoyed the grounds especially the grass tennis courts for exercise, although the river walk across the walk came a close second.
It’s location was ideal for exploring with the lakes, northern Pennines, hadrians wall and Dumfries & Galloway within easy reach.
- John (10/5): Excellent in every way! - The lounge was beautiful and comfortable with gas fireplace. An ideal place for a cosy evening in. Kitchen was extremely well stocked with high quality appliances and utensils. Great for cooking. Bedrooms a good size. The second toilet very handy. Ample free parking. Good second fridge and separate laundry with ample hanging and drying stands. Lovely welcome basket of local produce which spoilt us on arrival and took over a week to finish. Great hosts in Malcom and Pip. Also the cleaner had a high degree of attention to detail and very friendly and accommodating with weekly cleans during our 1 month stay.
- Corinne_stbees (10/5): Had a fabulous stay. - A fabulous comfortable cottage in a great quiet country setting. Loved the shower. Great having a second toilet. A wonderful and generous welcome basket. Extremely friendly hosts who had thought of everything to give their guests a great stay.
- Stephen (10/5): Idyllic, luxury 'cottage' with great access to amenities, beautiful countryside & sights. - Location was idyllic, quiet, but with easy access to the A69, shop, petrol station and good pubs and restaurants within a few miles.
We had high expectations of the cottage all which were exceeded. It says 'Luxury as Standard' and it is. All the facilities we needed, extremely comfortable, and super interior design - even the food essentials and 'goodies' basket were excellent
A great welcome for us, and ongoing care during our stay - even recommending and booking a local restaurant at short notice for our wedding anniversary meal.
We will certainly be going back! Absolutely nothing - highly recommended.
- Matthew (9/5): August 2024 stay - The accomodation was very clean, excellently presented throughout and spacious. The team looking after the property were great and went above and beyond when returning some items we had left at the cottage too. We really liked the welcome pack with various essentials and treats.
- Michelle (10/5): It was relaxing and restful. - It was clean and spacious, had loads of natural light and a peaceful country location. I particlarly liked having a fireplace, and appreciated the bouquet of roses, basket of goodies, and bottle of Prosecco gifted to us. It was also a good place if you have a dog, as there were some good places nearby for taking her on a walk after dinner.
- Ingrid (10/5): Excellent I would highly rate this property. - Beautiful surroundings in a quiet location. Owners left some lovely goodies and a gorgeous vase of flowers. Very comfortable and well equipped cottage.
- Ronald (10/5): Excellent first class accomodation. - Have stayed her previously and just knew how good a standard the place would be, this time the owners excelled themselves with a few little suprises of some Flowers for my Partner and a lovely Welcome Hamper. The owners are a credit to the service they provide.
- Frances (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful yet accessible rural setting yet close to M6 & A69 - The location was very accessible from the M6 & the A69. It was a lovely quite location with local walks, and close to Carlisle for places of interest. The owners had made us feel very welcome before we arrived with personal messages giving plenty of details to find the cottage and when we got there we were greeted with a lovely bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table, a basket containing tea, coffee, biscuits, cake, chocolates, marmalade, jam, bread. Milk and fresh orange juice in the fridge. I have stayed in a number of holiday rentals but have never experienced such a welcome basket. Nothing. I can't think of anything that wasn't available in the kitchen or anywhere else. There was even bathrobes for us to use and toiletries.
- Mervyn (10/5): Great R & R week. - The place was Fantastic, the location Great and the couple that run it where outstanding. Why can't I score it 11.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Really well appointed. Great hosts. Lovely quiet area. What more could you want? Nothing to dislike.
- Linda (10/5): Seldom have I stayed in such a plush property which is also dog friendly. - very clean/quiet/comfy bed and pillows/ well equipped kitchen/bath/quality furnishing + welcome basket of goodies could not find a fault with anything about the property or the welcome we had.
- Gillian (10/5): Fantastic - We liked the fantastic hosts and exceptional welcome pack, the fabulous cottage is beautiful and clean, and very well equipped with lots of attention to detail. The setting is lovely, close enough to Carlisle for access to shops and restaurants, but far enough out to be able to appreciate the countryside and village life. We had a fantastic stay. Can't fault it.
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Wonderful cottage in lovely grounds. Close to local villages with good pubs/places to eat. Close to Carlisle and Bitts Park to see Tom Jones.
