• Karsten1977 (10/5): Welcome to Paradise - Great Price Value - We have known this property since the early beginnings. First time was in 2015. We saw several managers come and go. This month, the hotel was reopened by a lovely British/Tanzanian couple and they are here to stay. It has only 12 rooms and you have a great view. Garden is beautiful and chickens are running around. This is a place where you can really relax. The rooms are big and clean. Aircon is working well and you have a fridge in the room. The pool area is just fantastic. The new staff is very friendly. Breakfast is very good. You have a lot of different options you can choose from. Chicken curry and enchiladas are highly recommended for lunch or dinner. The South African white wine for 25 bucks per bottle is excellent. Local beers cost 4 bucks. Compared to other nearby accommodations, it has a very good price/value ratio. The best Italian restaurant in the whole of Zanzibar is also just 150 metres away. Kiwengwa Beach is amazing and it is a short walk to the sandbank when there is low tide. The hotel will be renamed shortly and is not on booking dot com yet so if you want to explore this paradise yourself, drop them an email or WhatsApp. Highly recommended by frequent travelers.
• amaher563690 (2/5): Do not go! - Arrived to find hotel closed. The operating skipped out…talked to the owner of the property and he offered for us to stay with no staff onsite, but we rebooked immediately into the near by Melia.
• ikippi807755 (6/5): Service aside, it left a lot to be desired - The staff are amazing and provide really good service + clean everything regularly and thoroughly! Pool area was beautiful and restaurant staff always very polite and accommodating. Manager was always helpful and polite - very approachable and involved. The hotel itself was disappointing: toilet seat was broken and the actual toilet was loose from the floor. Mosquito nets around the beds and at the windows had holes in it. Some of the lights were missing light bulbs. Barely any closet space. Food at the restaurant was average and not worth the prices. We are from South Africa and are familiar with loadshedding, but we had not expected to experience it overseas too - at least not in a hotel that you're paying to stay at.

• Mathilde (5/5): Pas à la hauteur de ce que nous imaginions. - Nous ne sommes restés qu’une nuit car l’hôtel ne correspondait pas à nos attentes, mais le temps où nous sommes restés nous avons apprécié l’amabilité et la gentillesse du personnel. Le plus gros bémol pour nous était de devoir traverser un village et marcher à pied pendant quelques minutes pour se rendre à la plage. Nous nous sommes sentis mal à l’aise de devoir traverser pour rejoindre l’océan. La nourriture n’était pas à notre goût, et le lit n’était pas très confortable. Il y a des petites bêtes sur la moustiquaire.

En we zijn wel wat gewend na onze reis door het mainland met openbaar vervoer

• Arjan van 't Hooft (1/5): Zan View, zwaar teleurgesteld. - We kwamen aan, op de sfgesproken datum en tijd. 7 personen, 3 kamers. Voor een strandvakantie met 30 meter naar het strand. Twee van onze groep zijn slecht ter been. De trap die naar het strand voert, bijgevoegde foto, is ongelijk, zonder leuning en helemaal niet in overeenstemming met de beschrijving. Dit gaat echt niet met reuma. Laat staan met versleten knieën. We hebben direct aangegeven zo geen strandvakantie te kunnen vieren. En gevraagd naar een alternatief. Er was geen alternatief beschikbaar. We hebben aangegeven de accomodatie te willen annuleren. De manager aan de receptie gaf aan dat in onze situatie wel te begrijpen, maar dat er wel een dag in rekening gebracht zou worden. We zijn vertrokken. Maar onze annulering is toch afgewezen. We hebben helemaal niks teruggekregen en herhaaldelijke verzoeken om restitutie, ook via Booking.com hebben tot op heden niks opgeleverd. Ik ben zeer teleurgesteld in de accomodatie. Zeker omdat de manager aan de receptie aan gaf dat hij het helemaal snapte. Daarnaast is het heel vreemd dat een dergelijke trap niet duidelijk aangegeven wordt op de site. Wanneer we op de hoogte waren geweest dan was dit hotel geen optie geweest voor onze groep. Nogmaals een oproep aan Booking.com, ik heb bij u geboekt, mijn betaling was aan u. We hebben nu extra kosten moeten maken om elders te kunnen verblijven.

Bardzo smaczne śniadania,skromne do wyboru z karty, nam wystarczały, zawsze świeży sok,owoce,drinki i obiady mozna dokupić samemu w restauracji lub na plaży w barze która była oddalona o około 100m od hotelu.w odległości 200 m w wiosce liczne lokalne sklepiki a na plaży sklepiki z pamiątkami. Polecam ten hotel tani,czysty, przyjemny. Mi nie przeszkadzała okolica,ale warto o tym wspomnieć,że po wyjściu z hotelu zaraz jest wioska gdzie toczy się normalne życie mieszkańców a więc jest strasznie brudno,śmierdząco od kóz, kur,dojazd do hotelu tragiczny, zejście na plaze po stromych schodach i przez zakamarki wioski gdzie jest bardzo brudno,zaniedbana okolica,ale mieszkańcy przyjażni,spacerowałyśmy o kazdej porze nawet o 24 w nocy i wszystko było ok

• Rainer (9/5): Lovely stay at a very cozy, small hotel with superfriendly staff. - It was my second time as this lovely, small and cozy hotel! the staff (Tukae, Noro, Rose, Selena, Tina, Abdillah and Mohamed, Modesta, Frank (the hotel manager) and Yusuf and all others I might have now forgotten to mention) were just amazing and outstanding - everybody in his or her own way. I loved the authentic (!) friendliness and the positive and guest-oriented attitude and the smiles! My room (triple) was very spacious and I have seen a few improvements over my stay the previous year: my room was equipped with a water kettle and the shower area looked "fresher". The internet was working smoothly and most of the time really well! No shortcomings in terms of electricity cuts anymore (caused by the government - NOT the hotel). Dinner menu had a "half board special" including a starter, a main and a dessert to choose from (for 20USD). The choice was good and the food quality was excellent thanks to the superb chefs! I would most definetely come back! Breakfast was quite basic - one sort of (toast) bread, fruits, two fresh juices, instant coffee and a large choice of teas. That could be improved a bit - but it was nothing really serious" .-) Apart from that - and I liked that - every morning some pancakes, cakes, hash browns and grilled vegetables were offered. There was an eggs menu as well which one could choose from and it was made à la carte. The beach club area had less sunbeds in comparison to the previous year. I could imagine that - when fully booked - some guests would have to stay without such a sunbed.
• Rainer (9/5): Beautiful little gem hotel with beach access! - I had booked a room with three beds (as it was offered cheaper than a double/ twin) and thus I could use the third bed as some sort of stowage area. The room itself was spacious and feautured a double bed, a single bed, a seating area as well as a very small desk and a cupboard as well as a clothes rail and a small balcony (view into the backyard) which I had never used. The interior style of the room was "colonial" with beautiful wooden furniture, a fan and also a/c. Loved it! The internet connectivity was surprisingly good! The staff!!! Absolutely wonderful and warm-hearted people!!! They deserve a 12 out of 10!!! Whether it was Vincent or happy from the reception, the cleaning ladies, or Tukae, Regine, Mo, Nora or Abedllahi!! The look and design of the hotel, restaurant, pool and hang area was amazing, it gave us that African vibe we wanted. Very relaxing and chill place. Great staff and they are well organised. Yummy cocktails, and their restaurant offer tasty meals. We were really pleased with Zan View and highly recommend the place to future guests. Missed hearing music in the restaurant. It was often silent, except for breakfast. It would add a vibe to the place with music involved :)

• Ilaria (10/5): - If you’re looking to have an authentic and cozy experience, I’d definitely recommend this property. It doesn’t host so many people like big chain’s hotel, and the customer service experience is just another level. The owners, the manager Frank and the rest of the staff are so kind and lovely, thanks to them we managed to make a small surprise for my mum’s bday that she won’t forget. The property is 5 min walking from the beach, where you can enjoy sunbathing but also fresh fish, food or fresh juices. You can experience as well kite surfing as close by you can find a school and find some local shops with souvenirs. Cannot recommend this place enough. I definitely wanna come back here. Nothing that we didn’t like
• SideriasO (10/5): Perfect place for chill holiday - Zan Hotel is the perfect option for a chill and relaxed holiday in Zanzibar. It is located in a safe village very close to the beach. The yard is full of green exotic plants that makes you feel closer to the nature whenever you enjoy a day at the swimming pool. It provides very good food with local and international variety. The most impressive is the wood terrace that has a traditional design. The rooms were well equipped and clean. It is a good choice for couples or friends trips. When you are there, having a sea food plate at the beach bar is a must!

• Kangai (10/5): Best Tropical Vacay Ever - Communication is key with me when I travel. They always responded to all my questions and/or requests. The room where gorgeous and simple and clean exactly like the pictures. The staff like Christine and I don't remember some of the others names of the gentleman at reception and the gentleman who organised the BBQ by the Beach - where very attentive and helpful. Abu - taxi guy was very patient and accommodating. The beach is close, clean and the Beach Bar and Restaurant has great variety. The breakfast included didn't really offer much. Sometimes we didn't understand each other at the restaurant- I don't speak Swahili. The hot water didn't always work in my room but it was so hot we preferred to shower in cold water.

Manager Frank väldigt trevlig och vänlig. Som att bo på i ett eget hus vid poolen. Rooftop där man kan komma undan och slappna av ovanför restaurang Wi-Fi fungerade inte alls på rummen, bara nere vid pool/restaurang. Mer muslimskt här än andra delar av ön så tänk lite mer på klädsel. Varje hotell håller sig mer för sig själva här. Lite lantligt omkring

Piekny basen z leżakami (są tam świeże ręczniki), czysty pokój z klimatyzacją (codziennie sprzątany), blisko piękna plaża. Jedzenie w restauracji bardzo dobre, przy czym są to europejskie ceny. Śniadania super, zawsze jakiś świeży sok do picia. Właściciel i personel pomocny, bardzo Polecamy.

La comida, el trato del personal, las habitaciones super limpias com aire acondicionado todo nos ha encantado. Si estas por Zanzibar y quieres relajarte en un medio privado este hotel es para ti. La playa de Kiwengua es muy tranquila y nada masificada. Puedes disfrutar de tu trocito de playa privada ( delante del hotel) con tumbonas y toallas. Tambien hay servicio de bebidas delante del mar. El restaurante del hotel esta a otra altura en comparacion con otros restaurantes cerca. Tienen mucha variedad de comida y productos frescos. Recomiendo el lobster al horno, la mariscada de pescado y marisco y chapati de pollo. Yo y nuestra familia hemos quedado encantados, un trocito de nosotros se ha quedado en este hotel. The hotel is not particulair new or luxe, yet the hotel and room is clean, the room is cleaned every day, and there is a pool to relax on one of the sunbeds. Ici, tout est parfait. les précédents commentaires positifs sont parfaitement légitimes. L'hôtel est extrêmement propre y compris la piscine. La nourriture est exceptionnelle! Tout est bon, tout! Que ce soit les plats locaux comme la pizza ! Les prix sont aussi raisonnables (entre 10 et 15$ le plat). Le personnel est d'une gentillesse inégalable. Bar de plage de l'hôtel à 2min à pied, top aussi. Un grand merci à Frank et toute son équipe, vous avez fait de ce moment un 100% pur plaisir. La douche pas toujours très chaude, mais bon, il fait 40 degrés dehors...

Everything was amazing, it was better that other 4 stars hotels we stay at. Room had everything you need: kettle, hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel, very clean. The breathtaking view and calmness are precious. The team couldnt do enough for us. Manager was very attentive to everyone needs and one evening we also met the owners, their kindness is very rare. We wish we stayed longer here. It is a perfect boutique hotel with extremely good food and many options for everyone’s taste. My son said he ate here the best pizza!

• nidhij389 (4/5): Pictures are not close to reality..bad hotel - Where do I begin..the rooms are much smaller than advertised in the pictures. The pictures do not depict the truth. We were a family of 6 with 4 senior citizens and 2 adults, this is not a suitable hotel for easy beach accessMy room did not have the basic amenities that you would expect after paying over a $1000 for a 3 night vacation. There was no electricity 1 night out of 3 and we had to sleep without a fan or AC in hot heat. We had called ahead to confirm that this was a beachfront property but in fact you have to walk down steep stairs without railings to get to the beach. We ordered food from the restaurant and by the time we got our food, it was cold. It looked like it had traveled miles before getting to us. The breakfast was below average for the price they charged and was pretty much the same all days. I will never go back to this hotel no matter how desperate I am. The only positive about this place is the staff and the ever kind hospitality of Zanzibar. The staff did their best to accommodate our requests of an early breakfast and were cheerful and went out of their way to serve us. The 2 stars are only for the staff.

We had to walk through steep railing less stairs to get to the beach. This isn't suitable for senior citizens and was an unpleasant experience. The food was pathetic. False advertising.

Zmiana menu w trakcie pobytu i podwyższone ceny tych samych dań było słabym zagraniem nowego szefa .

L’hôtel est vraiment top, tout est fait pour qu’on se sente bien. Le personnel est aux petits soins, toujours souriant et prêt à aider (petite dédicace à Franck :) Les repas étaient délicieux, avec des plats variés et bien préparés. La piscine est magnifique, idéale pour se détendre après une journée à la plage. Les chambres sont nettoyées et faites tous les jours, un vrai plus pour le confort. L’hôtel est idéalement situé, à proximité des habitants, ce qui permet de découvrir la culture locale. Et que dire de la plage juste en face ? Un superbe banc de sable se forme avec les marées, c’est un spectacle magnifique à voir et à vivre. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel pour des vacances sans souci, au calme, avec tout ce qu’il faut pour passer un excellent moment.
• Michaela (9/5): Relaxation in Paradise! - Breakfast was great. Fresh sweet fruit, eggs of your choice, roti, hashbrowns, stir-fried veggies, coffee and fruit juice. The view of the lagoon from the top level of the restaurant is amazing. The beach is a very short walk through a local neighborhood from the hotel on the hill. We could spend the day at the hotel's beachfront restaurant, leaving our belongings safe while we snorkeled and swam. The manager, Frank, was kind, hospitable and gracious. He made us feel so relaxed and couldn't do enough to assist us. Air con in the rooms is a relief from the heat. The rooms are serviced everyday with thoughtful touches.

Your staff is the most nicest staff that we met in Zanzibar, the food is extremely good and tasty, top notch cocktails. Tudor is making sure all the time to serve us with the best wines and Madalina took care of our trips on the island she made sure we get good price and nice transport. Greeting to Frank, the manager who is very jovially. They also have a beach bar where tou can enjoy the sun and waves. The garden of the hotel is amazing. Palm trees, green lights, pool lights very nice the atmosphere is lovely. Again, thank you for everything. We promise to visit you again next year!

Przemiła, uczynna obsługa, pokoje bardzo czyste, pyszne śniadania. Okoliczne wybrzeże idealne do kąpieli jak i długich spacerów. Hotel nie jest położony bezpośrednio przy plaży, trzeba przejść parę kroków przez wioskę, co też daje pewną perspektywę. Polecam osobom stroniącym od resortów, mimo ogromnego komfortu człowiek wie że jest w Afryce. Może nam tylko się udało ale pozostali goście byli bardzo sympatyczni i kulturalni. Będziemy tęsknić!!
