Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): Fabulous - Fantastic staff food excellent Nothing everything perfect
- Mary (8/5): -
- Susan (7/5): - The room was large an so was the bed The bathroom was not clean. There were toothpaste splats on the tiles. Skirting boards were dirty. Mirrors all streaky. The sink took ages for the water to go down.
- Andrew (9/5): - Excellent location. Great place.
- james (10/5): Enjoyable - Comfortable/ relaxing No complaints
- Elaine (10/5): -
- Shelagh (3/5): Maybe just unlucky - Location Our room No.11 was maybe the only picture not on booking.com. Zero room to even get changed, tiny bathroom. I feel like I booked this hotel totally with false advertising. Breakfast included is only a continental breakfast. We paid extra on arrival for a cooker breakfast.

- Halsall (10/5): Southport 2026 - Great location staff very friendly and hotel clean
- adam (1/5): - staff were polite room 1 had 2 single beds pushed together that did not match in height. the one had springs issues and was lumpy. we were moved to room 18. this was dirty and smelly. we were moved again. the new room had a broken shower (water ran out the bottom and nothing from the shower head), burn holes in the carpets, stains on the bedding, holes in the wall, a view of the rear which looks like a council dump. it is not 2 stars let alone 4.
- Pam (6/5): - Needs a bit of tlc
- Shirley (9/5): Great place to stay in Southport - especially if you’re travelling with bikes! - Great location - accommodated us with our bikes - staff were friendly and helpful - dinner and breakfast very good Bathrooms could do with updating
- ronald (7/5): - Beer garden No cooked breakfast included wanted another £17 Parking £8.50 on top of the room. Not stocked enough milk in room only enough for one brew each. Bar very expensive

- Crudge (7/5): - Location and lovely welcome My partner would prefer a cooked breakfast
- Guest (10/5): -
- Martin (5/5): - Good location Hotel is very tired looking, small room, need of renovation .
- Stacey (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - Stayed before so knew standard and location. Only continental b'fast on Sat and had to pay extra for English on Sun which booking.com knew but didn't update website AGAIN. I may have to start booking direct with accommodation.
- Tracy (10/5): -
- Phil (8/5): -
- jillian (5/5): Very disappointing as the room needs decoration - Great location The single room needs to be updated.
There is damp stain on the ceiling, walls badly marked with stains, desk in room peeling ,
- darren (9/5): Worth a stay - Room 15, the castle room , was quirky and different from any other room Pay extra for a cooked breakfast
- Anna (8/5): -
- Harris (8/5): Nice room, but certainly not the best for the price. - Nice hotel, nice room. Shower was brill, never had one quite so hot!! There was a certain smell of sewage when we got into the room which was quite potent. This had disappeared by the time we woke in the morning!! The bed seemed ok, definitely on the large side. But after sleeping on it for a night not very comfortable no matter what position I tried.
- John (5/5): -
- paul (10/5): - Everything
- Christine (8/5): -
- Irene (6/5): - Good location, staff very friendly. Some of the furniture was broken and the chairs are very wobbly. Just needs a little up date and new furniture. Breakfast could do with better quality products.

- AlisonNotts (9/5): Delightful, traditional seaside hotel - What a delightful, traditional seaside hotel! I was really pleased to stay here, although it was only for one night. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was clean and everything that should have been there, was there. I thoroughly recommend it. All was good
- Alison (4/5): Not the same as last visit very disappointed this time round - Lovely property bar staff Harry, Libby and Santa were lovely and very accommodating. The breakfast wasn’t up to standard especially when you had to pay extra for it the bacon was still breathing wasn’t asked how we wanted our eggs cooking and no one came back to the table to ask if everything was ok !! Upon leaving no one to be seen to complain about this. We have stayed before and everything was spot on, we recommended to the family who stayed too, felt let down on this visit
- Helen (9/5): Great little spot close to amenities - Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful Room a little tired but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean
- Jill (7/5): Ok - polite staff - but not again for us - Bedroom was clean and comfortable Poor continental buffet was included as breakfast - although Nothing to offer GF - as we made very clear on our booking - all they could offer was GF bread and 2 poached eggs
- James (1/5): - Nothing Food was shocking
Beer out of date smelt rancid
Rattling extractor fan
- Alison (7/5): We would like to stay at the hotel again if we had a better room. - Location was good and the continental breakfast was acceptable. Our room was number 10 it shouldn’t have had a double bed in that room. It was too small and cramped. Curtain was hanging off the rail which we had to fix. The blind on the other window was broken.
- Debbie (10/5): - Friendly staff nice breakfast
- Keith (8/5): Served the purpose of location for our visit, room needing updating - Adequate Continental Breakfast on first day
Pleasant bar and staff Hard mattress, but large bed
Shower head insecure in our room
Cooked Breakfast on second day not that good
Forgot me, had to remind them
Did apologise and refunded as a goodwill gesture though
- Gail (9/5): We would definitely stay here again. The location was ideal for us, hotel was very comfortable and quiet. - Very clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and polite. Good location with parking across the road. Nothing
- Springett (10/5): - Good value for money,
Room was clean and comfy bed Absolutely nothing.
- Patrick (9/5): - Good lication Everything okay for money payed
- Lisa Penkett (9/5): Great theme - Great themed castle room. Great room beside a few issues. Sadly there were a few problems with the room. Noted to staff at breakfast.
- ann (10/5): - Small clean cosy hotel, little gem Nothing
- Paul (7/5): -
- richard (8/5): -
- Julie (10/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): - Great location
Breakfast ok
- John (4/5): -
- John (10/5): break away - location quiet and a lovely continental breakfast remote didn't work on tv no thermostat for room
- Kate (5/5): The Dukes Folly is a pleasant hotel but tired. Value for money as it’s not expensive. - Cooked breakfast was only offered on the Sunday morning when management decided they would come in and cook it. It was very good. Continental breakfast was included in the price of the room anyway and was ok. The hotel is tired. It is large and has plenty of room on the ground floor but the bedroom we were given was too small for us. We had nowhere to open our cases so they had to be closed and mover when the bed was in use. The shower room was not big enough for us to stand in there and dry ourselves. Electric shower worked well but jet was small. It did have a new carpet and curtains but the curtains need adjusting on the pole to cover the complete window and keep the light out.
- Robert (2/5): As above - Location and the bar lady was very nice Reception was rude , unwelcoming and when told about room 22 next door to us concerning a party in their room until 1.30am then again at 6 am she brushed us off completely as did the email I sent to the hotel with same complaint
- Stewart (10/5): Is wA - Breakfast was ok, The bathroom
- Halsall (10/5): - Location & facilities are perfect

- Jessie (10/5): - Breakfast was great, bed was super comfortable I would love if the breakfast was served a little bit later
- Roy (9/5): -
- Sheila (5/5): Disappointed - Staff ok, rooms clean, heating ok, Lack of chef, arrived Friday. Sat morning, no hot breakfast only sundays?, Sunday morning no chef, no one able to cook a breakfast? Very disappointed, no one around of a evening sat night 11.00 pm to gain access to building key fob didn't work phone went to answerphone, had to throw stones at window bedroom with light on to attract attention, waited 15 mins for door to finally open, not good at all.
- Steve W (5/5): A low priced room but you get what you pay for - The price was low for a single room, the location is good and the staff are friendly. The bed had an old mattress that had no support, the room was very small and dingy and the continental breakfast was very underwhelming.
- Sharon (10/5): Great experience from start to finish - Lovely staff member who booked us in. Very welcoming and the hotel was lovely. Very quirky. Excellent choice of breakfast. So nice from start to finish. We will definately revisit here. Loved it. Nothing that I can think of.
- Alison (5/5): Disappointed and tired hotel. - Location was good for our needs and car park over the road in the church. Room 10 was too small and tired. Quilt, we found the next morning was stained. Water pressure in shower poor. Breakfast - continental only - was mediocre, and we could hear staff shouting in the background. Not great !
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Graeme (8/5): - Clean and comfortable. Nice staff. Ideal location for centre of Southport.
- Rebecca (6/5): - Good location and continental breakfast. Good having a chance to make your own cafetière so good coffee. Room very basic and dated. Not the cleanest.
- Robert (8/5): Nice stay at the Folly… - Clean & comfortable
Excellent restaurant and food. Good value. Double bed mattress was too soft for me. Room 8.

- Cathy (7/5): Clean, comfortable and friendly small hotel that I would book again - I arrived early for registration and the members of staff was very helpful in enabling me to leave my bags early. The continental breakfast had a good selection and nicely presented My room was at the front of the hotel above the front door and at top of open stairway from bar area .Due to a wedding party (Monday night!) there was a fair amount of noise from the bar and the garden. The music did stop at 10pm but either I could have been put in a room away from the party or at least warned in advance
- paul (9/5): - Food brilliant location brilliant staff brilliant Only thing that wasn't in the room was no chest of drawers
- Darren (10/5): -
- Margaret (9/5): Was a nice stay nice location good food and cocktails - Location and food was lovely

- Janice (8/5): -
- jean bernard (2/5): - Breakfast Fans outside making noise
Tv remote control out of service
No shower (malfunction)
- Victoria (3/5): Very poor - Location, staff The room was very tired. The walls needed painted, the carpet was badly stained and the sink was cracked. The furniture was worn and nothing matched or said relax. We had to book for a funeral but will never return. They also ran out of food an hour before dinner finished so only 2 out of the party of 6 could eat.
- Robert (8/5): Very good value for money - Staff very friendly, room comfortable and clean and excellent value for money N/A
- Graham (8/5): Wonderful. - Location great, clean hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast. Parking difficult
