Guest Reviews
- Graham (10/5): This is our second stay at Carrick house once again fully enjoyed our stay at Hogmany - Location and quality of amenities in cottage. Nothing .This is a lovely place to stay.below is a photo of the street when we were there.
- Mowat (10/5): Home from home. - Lovely house with many extras to add to all our enjoyment and comfort whilst feeling at home.
Plenty coats hooks and boot trays with a bench to help when getting footwear on and off at the front door.
Beds and bedding soooo comfortable and cosy.
Heating system (it was late October) simple and effective it meant we never lit the open fire as it was so good.
Large living room great for relaxing and socialising with enveloping couches, foot rests, games, local info, books and TV with great reception and access to live tv, iplayer, amazon etc.
Kitchen had everything you would expect plus so many extras, including lots of good cutlery and crockery, pots, pans and oven ware, utensils, big freezer, slow cooker etc and on top of that a great selection of provision basics such as herbs and spices, salt, pepper and vinegar, flour, cooking oil, tea, coffee and sugar, lots of cleaning/maintenance items such as dishwasher tablets, washing powder, bin bags etc and to top it all fresh milk and a welcome basket with goodies such as drinking chocolate, oatcakes, shorties, jam, marmalade and porage.
We all enjoyed relaxing on the comfy suite in the sun room every morning and evening with its great light and view of the very well enclosed and private garden which was perfect for the dog.
I appreciated the tasteful art work displayed on walls around the house. So often the art work displayed in holiday homes is cheesy and like it's been someone's granny's or from a second hand shop.
The whole effect of this made it feel extremely homely, comfortable and as if you had hired the house from friends. We liked everything.

- Sofie (10/5): Perfect holiday house in the highlands - This is by far the best holiday house I have ever been in. It's coozy, comfy with a lovely little back garden. We ended up in the conservatory most every night just looking at the sky or reading. We travelled in Scotland for two weeks so to be able to do laundry and cook was great for us. Kingussie is also an amazing place in the highlands, we walked around almost all of the local hiking trails. We will be coming back! The only downside was that we didn't know that the local Co-op would be closed for renovation (will be until beginning of november 2025). Since we travelled by train we had to take a few bustrips to Aviemore to shop groceries. Would recomend to look around the local shops in Kingussie, the cheese shop, the butcher and the old papershop sell vegetables, milk, coffee, eggs and the likes and the people are very nice and helpful.
- Gero (10/5): - Sehr ordentlich und liebevoll eingerichtet,
Alles vorhanden, was man braucht,
- Jolanda (9/5): Heerlijke tijd gehad! - Het dorp ligt mooi in de Cairngorms. Het werd zo een mooie uitvalsbasis voor vele uitstapjes. Het tweepersoons bed is vrij smal
- Dariusz (10/5): -
- Gerda (9/5): Fantastisch - Zeer compleet, comfortabel en netjes.
- Katrina (10/5): Brilliant - Nice and spacious house, with a sofa to die for! I ended up in the conservatory a lot as it’s so comfy and lets in light etc. the kitchen is so well equipped as well, making cooking really easy.
- Alena (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was very nice and clean, beds were super comfortable and parking in front of the house was very helpful. We liked most the winter garden, great place for some rest. Owners were really nice and helpful with anything we needed, landlady was also super nice and helpful. Do recommend 100% for your stay, as you have a whole big place for yourself, lots of shops and fitness center very close by, but also no noice from the street or neighborhood. And there are two bathrooms!
- Janita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (9/5): An amazing holiday home and we will recommend to our friends and family - This is a beautiful house with plenty of space for the family, it is perfectly located to explore Cairngorms. The welcome basket and cleaning products left for us made it an easier start to the holiday as we didn’t need to pick up everything on our way. The kitchen is very well equipped Maybe a second shower, but with teenagers. Although 2 bathrooms was enough
- Susan (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): Would definitely return, too much to do with only a week. - Clean & very homely, characterful property, fantastic location for exploring the Highlands. We couldn’t stay longer
- Kaci (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): A comfortable home away from home in lovely Kingussie. - We loved the location of the house which was convenient for visiting the cafés and park in the town. We went for a couple of hill runs from the house. The wildcat trail in neighbouring Newtonmore provided hours of entertainment and Aviemore and the Cairngorm mountains are just a short drive away.
- Kirsty (10/5): Fantastic, home from home! We had a fabulous week! - Lovely property, great location (even better when we arrived) a lot of thought to the amenities in the property and the slow cooker was a great help after a days skiing in Lecht! Home from home! Would highly recommend and would stay again! Absolutely nothing!
- Graham (10/5): Location to shops, train station and eateries.House had a starter pack as well as tea.coffee.quality kitchenware and a lo - Everything about this property was 1st class for us.Too many extras to add which made our stay wonderful over hogmany. Nothing.
- Fiona (10/5): Perfect - Everything was perfect, immaculately clean, everything you could possibly need and more with regards to accessories/ kitchen equipment. Fantastic location. Absolutely nothing to fault at all. Thank you!! There is nothing not to like
- Susan (10/5): A great house and location for visiting the Cairngorms - The house was delightful with our every need catered for. The kitchen was well equipped allowing us to cook meals which isn't always the case in holiday homes. The welcome pack of snacks and a bottle of milk in the fridge was a bonus. We especially liked the conservatory looking out over the back garden. The location is great for walking in the Cairngorms or visiting attractions and an easy drive to Loch Ness and the Moray Coast. Highly recommended
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Great accommodation in quite location close to restaurants and shops - Good clean accommodation and only a 2 minute walk to restaurants, bars and shops
- Tony (3/5): Definitely will not be returning, all guests check bedding protectors beforehand - The House was quite spacious, with a good sized Garden, the kitchen had all the equipment one would want, the lounge and furnishings were comfortable with a big TV. On the day of departure there’s notices in all bedrooms to strip the beds, upon stripping both beds in the twin room we stayed in I was absolutely shocked to find that one of the duvets disgustingly stained with various different old stains and marks the pillow protectors also stained and the mattress protector on the other bed was also very discoloured, if I had of seen this before I most definitely would not have stayed on such badly stained bedding, also the conservatory windows could have done with a clean, when we did sit in the conservatory on occasions there was a barking dog next door in the garden so we ended up retreating to the lounge to escape the loud barking, I did contact the owner privately on our return regarding the filthy under bedding, I do know for sure that they did receive my email, but have chosen not to reply even to say they will look into this and thanks for making us aware, as previous holiday let owners ourselves this is definitely not how to treat guests.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Located in a lovely village. A fully equipped, new fitted kitchen. It was lovely to relax in the conservatory on the comfortable sofas after a busy day walking. The TV in the lounge has a Fire stick so you can use Netflix, Prime etc. Fast WiFi. Great location for hiking. A washing machine with powder to use came in handy. The house was spotlessly clean. A lovely welcome pack waiting for us. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Elaine (10/5): Very comfortable stay in a beautiful cottage. It felt like home from home. - Lovely location on edge of a pretty village. Nicely furnished and well-equipped kitchen
- Islalou (10/5): great house location within easy reach for exploring parking outside the house would recommend - the house was very comfortable very clean would return for another stay
- Jeanette (9/5): I hope this property is owned by Kingussie residents. I would hate for the £to leave the town - close to town centre
- Debra (7/5): Good quiet location with comfy beds and lots of useful cooking pots/pans etc. Great walks around the - Lovely snacks left and washing clothes/dishwasher tablets. Everything done to the best. The bathrooms were oldish so could do with upgrading. However, The shower was good.
- Kirsten (9/5): Home from home in the highlands - All the facilities you would hope for and some I never expect (teacosy!!) In a great location Very minor point but would have been good to know where the glass recycling was, but the house keeper let us know
