In my opinion, there is a different plus that distinguishes this hotel from other high-end hotels,Cindy.Her title says Duty Manager, but it may be insufficient, you just ask for everything you need, Cindy finds the solution. - Alex (2/5): Very poor - Only positive things about this resort is it’s location and willingness of girls from reception to help. The dirtiest rooms we have ever seen. We paid 500 EUR for only 3 nights, this is a 5-star hotel and we could not expect such dirty rooms. NOBODY except reception girls speaks English, even simple words. Breakfast had a very low variety of European food. No room service. Pools are dirty. On the 2nd day of our stay they closed 1 out 2 pools for a “maintenance” and never opened it again. I would like to highlight again - this is a 5-star hotel with a decent price. Never in our lives we will go there again and we highly DO NOT recommend anyone to stay there. Even in Shanghai we got a much much better hotel for a lower price. CLEAN hotel, unlike this one. Sea was OK, but there were some waves and a lifeguard did not let us swim in any of the days. Beach is not equipped with anything except couple of umbrellas.

Great Welcome at the Front desk. Amazing steamed seafood platter at resident Chinese restaurant Le Mei. The staff there were super caring and attentive. Great facilities and Garden. - Mashgiach (4/5): Bad Hotel bad management - I'll start with the positive. the view is great it's near the sea. The bed was comfortable. Here the positive ends... Service at this hotel is very bad the concierge is understaffed you need to carry all your luggage by yourself. Most of the staff does not speak any English The selection of fresh fruit and vegetables ay breakfast is extremely limited the property looks tired. There is no executive lounge the excuse was they are a resort so resort is not required to have one well. It seems like a trend at the Marriott Sheraton brand I have seen it happen at other hotels they add the word resort to the name then they do not need to open the lounge. Well it seems like another bad management decision theof the bad management of this hotel. What it seems is they do not get as a business person we look forward to go to lounge to rest after a long hard day at work so if we know there won't be any lounge we pick another hotel. My recommendation is stay at another hotel.

Matthew Meng, support me a lot because laundry not available my credit card not possible to use it due by their bank problem. Not possible to use credit card, no laundry available, the reception manager help me to was laundry outside required two days. Chinese restaurant the last day a real disaster, slow service, 50% of menu not available, really not good to invite gust or customer.

- Markus2703 (2/5): Big disappointment - Basically the design and type of building of the hotel is very nice. The Hotel is now 5 years old. The problem what we have experienced was based on lack of management and maintenance of the building. See also my pictures. 1. Room (basically there are a Desaster) The carpet of the room was very dirty. The bathroom tiles are covered with a white substance what is very disgusting. Around the toilet you can see the stain of piss around the floor at the toilet. The night table light was not working. Several sockets for electricity was not working. In the bathroom where stickers on the wall from previous guests which was not removed. The door to the balcony was not able to close. 2. Hotel We wanted to find a hotel bar at 9:45 pm to have a drink or beer but there was no bar open. The hotel was like a dead place. ( but they had a high occupancy rate). We wanted to drink our bottle of wine at the room. But there was no wine opener. We ordered one at the reception but it never was delivered to the room. 3. Pool The hotel has 3 pools and several whirl pools. Only one pool was open. The other pools are all closed. At the moment is main season in China for travel but still not opening the pools. 4. Beach The beach is in front of the hotel. But it’s not allowed to swim in the sea. How crazy is this. 5. There calling themselves as a resort. But there is nothing at this hotel in place what would indicate a resort. It’s just a normal hotel which everything is closed or denied what brings fun to the guests. Bar, Pool, Beach. And the rooms are in a catastrophic condition after 5 years already.

- Cinnamomum74 (6/5): Beautiful place, but noisy and poor food quality - We stayed two nights in this beautiful hotel near the beach and I enjoyed very much the views from the room and the huge balcony. The room is also very big and comfortable. The staff is attentive although some speak poor English. I also enjoyed the indoor pool. To be up to other Le Meridien Hotels, this hotel has much to improve in the quality of the food. Breakfast is too simple, the lunch and dinner buffet have reduced choices, especially of Western food, and even the Chinese restaurant wasn’t particularly tasty. Another big problem to me was that the doors of the rooms slamming very loudly when they are closed, which prevented me from sleeping properly, because of guests arriving after midnight. This problem should be easy to fix.

- 125kleinc (8/5): Pretty good，still need improvement - The hotel just located at the shore of Bohai sea, and the service was okay, but the breakfast was kind of simple for a Le Meridien Hotel. Also the quality of food in the “Le Mei” restaurant was also not so great. The room was great and nice. Overall still a good choice.

- TravelingWithZen (10/5): Excellent service & hospitality - Had the most amazing stay , really pleased by all the staff that serve us especially the receptionist , customer service ,Housekeeping , and all managers that made my stay memorable I was served by customer service counter Jason ,Ace, Levine and many others they want so helpful and patient they do their very best to serve us on any enquiries including booking a taxi for us , asking them nearest clinic they do their best to serve us , dominic always so professional assisting me with all hotel request and also our bellboy always ready to carry our luggages and open our door for us . Housekeeping giving their best to keep my room tidy and so welcoming whenever I come in to my room I felt so at home and clean . Breakfast spread is really fantasy with such a nice view by the sea.

- CanadaRichard8 (10/5): Second Stay in Consecutive Months - My wife and I stayed at this hotel for ten days in September and we are currently staying for fourteen days In October. We are in the process of moving to Qingdao and we are staying at this hotel because it represents outstanding value. (For shorter stays we would otherwise stay at the Shangrila which we view to be the best hotel in Qingdao.) So we are writing this review for hotel management as they are receptive to feedback. We have breakfast and the occasional dinner at the Main Restaurant. After our last stay we are pleased to report a noticeable improvement in the way the food is prepared. In the past the food was very oily and an ingredient was added to make the food shiny. The food is no longer as oily and ALL the chefs are more than happy to cook to order buffet items. Credit must go to the Executive Sous Chef, James who leads a team of Chefs who are all friendly and very receptive to change and input. This is not typical behavior for Chinese chefs who tend to ignore customer input. In James absence we definitely look for Tim, who is friendly and courteous and an excellent chef as well. Sky is another good chef but we go to Jason, one of the less senior chefs. Jason makes the best omelette around and understands what we want. These are the chefs we have troubled but all the chefs are very friendly and we are sure will not disappoint if approached. Kudos once again to James. In terms of service staff; the same names come to mind. At the senior level there is Justin in charge; setting the standards. There is Fred and Sunny, friendly and courteous support. There is James equally responsible and Lisa a student trainee who mans the juice and coffee section. Tashia, a new student trainee should be complimented as well. All work incredibly hard. Another very hardworking manager is Lizzy Chai, in charge of the Chinese restaurant. She is very gracious and attentive. Indeed she is the reason why we ended up staying at this hotel. Because of Lizzy’s exceptional service to a mutual acquaintance who is a dining club member; the hotel was strongly recommended to us. However one negative; the hotel should police the public bathrooms, especially on the 2nd floor to ensure no smoking. Because of the non-smoking rules customers would do so in the bathrooms which is also against the rules. It is so bad that I choke upon entering and elect to go to the bathroom in our room instead. On this visit as with the last we sought out Kevin at check in. Given the length of our stay he gave us a room on the 25 th floor. On this visit we requested an odd number room over even number. The kitchen smell is vented up on the even number sided rooms and when the window is open a real stench will come in. To be fair we believe all the reception staff are of a high calibre. This upgrade gesture by Kevin made the difference between an indifferent stay on the 18th floor on our September visit to an extremely pleasant stay on the current visit. It has to do with one single staff. On our last stay the housekeeping staff was at best so so and we never felt comfortable. On this stay we had Lisa as our housekeeper throughout our visit. She does not take a holiday. I cannot recommend her more highly and if I were Shangrila I would poach her from Meridien. She is very polite, she is very hardworking and yet she works very efficiently and quickly. She is cheerful and friendly so it is a delight to have her clean our room. We stay at many hotels and ship cabins and even though we leave the Do Not Disturb sign on we still lock up our possessions when we are not in the room. Suffice it to say we are sufficiently comfortable with Lisa’s integrity that for the very first time we did not do this. For my wife this is unique testimony for Lisa who of course has the highest standard of cleanliness. We had problems with the internet and Frank addressed our problems expediently and pleasantly. Finally to conclude on my last trip I complimented the gym facilities. It is very spacious but on this trip I sadly give it a failing grade.The changing room facilities are atrociously designed. The engineering staff failed to lower the fan strength in the studio. The engineer came down: could not fix things and disappeared. On my last trip I changed in my room. This time I used the changing room because I used the pool. It is a joke and not befitting of a five star hotel. Everyone changes in a single, very small locker room. To make matters worse some outside guest smell. The explanation was their shoes smell. There are only 30 or so lockers open to use and they are not cleaned between use. Fail. The swimming pool is small 20 meters and it could easily have been extended to 25 meters. Too many users and too many children taking lessons. The positive is that the pool is uniformly deep at 1.5 meters and the humidity is well vented. Clock is too small and it is too dark so hard to swim straight in the evening. Will take up annual membership at another hotel at twice the price.
- 12344678 (10/5): Great hotel - I had room 3019. Very comfortable, with all amenities. Only problem was rain shower not working. Room had huge balcony overlooking the yellow sea. Room was well lit, and bed very comfortable. Dont know why no instant coffee packets, and needed to call service. All in all a definte hotel to return to when in the area for work.
- jessiebarks (10/5): If you happen to be in Qingdao.... - I was visiting Qingdao to welcome my boyfriend and other crew from the Clipper Race, an around the world yacht race - 40,000 miles and 11 months. Qingdao was their stopover in March and while I would not normally visit Qingdao as my "must see bucket list travel stops," the Merdien West Coast on the sea was amazing. As a westerner in China, the hotel was brand new and the rooms spacious including what I believe to be the Westin Heavenly beds...they are heavenly. We had an ocean view sweet and the bathroom was bigger than my kitchen at home...not joking...with a beautiful modern bathtub that fits 2 :). The area is so new that they were still building the outside area to the beach and trying to roll the last lawn sod as we left on our last day. Buffets with western and asana cuisine at Breakfast and Lunch was very sophisticated, delicious and plentiful. While there were probably 250 westerners invading the hotel for the 10 day stopover, they probably had no idea what hit them and learned quickly that we like our coffee, espresso, wine and croissants. They did their best to keep up with our tastes, but we may have overwhelmed them. They were so accommodating and helpful and the service was great and all staff smiling and eager to help us navigate. The attached fitness center is beautiful, clean and modern as is the pool. I joined in all the fitness classes from Zumba to Yoga, all in Chinese...but easy to follow along. Pool was exceptional and so clean (don't forget a swim cap as they require one here.). I highly recommend this hotel is you happen to be visiting Qingdao. Because off season and not quite ready for prime time..the price was SO reasonable.
- Roland21 (8/5): " Room with a view" - I stayed in a good sized room with a great view of the beach, the pace of development in Qingdao is amazing. The hotel is large and has a very spacious lobby is well positioned for a stroll on the beach even in winter.The rooms have all the trimmings you would expect from this group and staff were friendly and attentive. The pool was a reasonable size although a little to shallow in the shallow end which made swimming lengths difficult although I spent a pleasant hour then went for a steam and a jacuzzi.I ate in the Chinese Restaurant and enjoyed the food.A nice place to stay.The breakfast room had a wide variety of food on offer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great on the surface - This hotel gives the initial impression of being luxurious but it’s not. Things like the light switches don’t work properly so you don’t know what they will do. The carpet and rurniture has stains that you notice after a couple of days. The staff are great but can’t make a decent coffee. I would still stay here again as for the money it’s great value.
- Derrick1230 (8/5): One the Ocean - I stayed in this property Sept. 15th and the weather was beautiful. This property is located right on the ocean. The hotel is 9 stories high. The Chinese restaurant Wes good but the Peking Duck was not good but everything else was good. I would love to return to this hotel!
- jos_f747 (8/5): Great location spot, some construction and design problems. - Excellent location inserted in Qingdao's West Coast development area, large and long beaches, hotel itself is built in a lower art, only 8 floor rooms towers. Shopping area around, otherwise some how far from "life". As this is a new development area very soon it will be one of Qingdao "hot spots" as there are many cultural, sportive and commercial iniciatives e.g. the Huge Wanda shopping mall. Not very far you find the Shells Museum, must recommend, interactive guides make the visit an high light. Also in August there is a Beer Festival, Oktoberfest "modus" and many visitors from Inland and abroad. The hotel is only 1 1/5 year old but shows already some defective construction spots and maintenance is probably the largest team. Rooms are good and well appointed with balcony, only the bath rooms were not designed to offer a friendly and easy work for the staff. Nice for the eyes, circular bath tube offer problems for the cleaning staff as there is not much space where the staff can work between Tube and Glass walls. Find the design of Glass walls in many hotels not really appropriated.
- KiwiGranNewZealand (8/5): Lovely hotel if it is not training! - This hotel is only about a year old however when it rains some rooms leak!! The hotel does not handle this situation very well but I stood my ground and was eventually given a dry room. The views towards the beach are lovely and the rooms spacious and well equipped. The foyer is very elegant and the garden is delightful. The cafe/bar is staffed by fabulous people. Small pasties and cakes are delightful and the coffee pretty good for China. They don't serve chardonnay. The food was excellent, lots of choices and you could have an omelette made to order for breakfast :) I would stay again.
- orjulius68 (10/5): What a beautiful place it is! - It is so honor to introduce this unreaveled hote & resort. My name is Julius wook jin, Choi spg ambassador. They opened last year- totally new and very fresh facilities. I have already visited them three times, every time they treat me so precious and very kind. There is somewhat different from other hotels located near ocean in Qingdao. There are not many people yet, but the water is so clean. Perhaps, until now, only few people notice there is a wonderful hotel. You can get to the ocean and beach direcly simply open the door towards the beach. They have very beautiful garden and swimming pool outside and indoor also. Their food is also very tasty, especially recommend chinese restaurant. I would like thank to Jenny GSM， Betty and Maggie working at Club lounge. I really appreciate their warm hospitalities. I will definitey visit this hotel again soon. Thanks.
