- 寛 (6/5): お世話になりました！ - スタッフ全員外国人でしたが、丁寧かつ親切な対応、一所懸命日本語を話されていたのがとても好感度を持ちました。 朝夕食、とてもおいしく頂きました。 早急に修繕した方が良いところ: 11階の大浴場の浴槽内、右の窓際に近い場所に、1箇所排水溝の蓋が取れていました。完全に蓋がないというより、劣化で蓋がギザギザに割れていました。3歳の娘の足が吸い込まれそうになってとても危険だった。 それ以外は夜卓球室を利用しましたが、部屋が古い田舎の家の匂いが凄かったのと、床が1箇所陥没していた。それに、ホテル全般古いのはまだ許容範囲内ですが、埃があっちこっち溜まってて清掃が行き渡ってないのが気になりました。卓球室近くにあるお手洗いの壁が虫だらけで虫苦手の人は結構しんどいです。 また、チェックイン時から和室の部屋の布団が既に床に敷きられていて、元々狭い部屋がより狭く感じ、ゆっくり過ごせなかった点です。

- Ingrid Renate (7/5): Direkt am Meer und köstliches Essen, aber zu abgewohnt. - Das Frühstück und das Abendessen musste vorbestellt werden, war aber sehr köstlich und vielfältig. Das Onsen war angenehm. Das Hotel müsste dringend renoviert werden. Der Ort hat zwar eine Bahnstation, aber sonst keine Infrastruktur.
- Gerhild (9/5): Ein japanisches Onsen- Erlebnis! - Das Zimmer war groß und sauber mit direktem Blick aufs Meer - sehr schön. Besonders beeindruckend war das Essen im Hotel - wirklich ein Erlebnis. Auch der Onsen am Dach mit Blick aufs Meer ist sehr schön. Das Personal war sehr Service-orientiert und bemüht, allerdings war die Unterhaltung auf Englisch manchmal nur mit Übersetzer möglich. Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

- raquel (7/5): - It was the second time I stayed at this place, because I had a good experience the first time I visited. The room is spacious. The service is nice. You can reserve the downstairs private onsen for a very reasonable price. There is an onsen bath on the rooftop overlooking the ocean. Both times I’ve been here, it has been available for women from 5:00 am to 9:30 am, but it is available to men from 3:00 pm to 12:00 am. So if you are a female and planning g on having breakfast before the 10:00 am checkout time, you have to wake up very early to be able to use it.( sunrise is nice, but still, it would be nice to have extended time there) . My first time there I had a fantastic experience with dinner, as they accommodated all my meal requirements. This time around, possibly because there were more customers, they put duck on one of my plates (I don’t eat meat, and they had received the information beforehand).

- raquel (9/5): - Dinner was espectacular. I have been to many onsen by now, and I can say that food was absolutely delicious and incredibly well presented, particularly the second night. I do not eat meat or dairy products, and they were able to accommodate this. The seafood I was served was very fresh and there was so much variety! Spiny lobster, crab, shrimp, conch, etc. Staff was very kind. The open air onsen on the rooftop alternates between men and women. Opening times for that one are 5:00 to 9:30 and 15:00 to 22:00 (I think). On day 1 I arrived at 15:00 in the afternoon and it was for men only. I checked around 17:00 again and it was still for men. On day 2 it was for women in the morning. I also went in the afternoon around 16:00 and it was for women only also. So it seems that it is for men one full day and for women the next? If that’s the case and you are going to spend one night only there, I would inquire before hand about this.

- Adri (9/5): Relaxing onsen hotel on the seaside - Very nice and quiet Onsen hotel, right on the coast with outstanding sea view and beautiful sunrises, both from the room as well as from the top floor outdoor onsen bath. Excellent food service, both breakfast and dinner with outstanding quality; free shuttle pick-up and transport to nearest train station uphill; free entrance to the nearby rotenburo beach onsen is a nice extra somewhat complicated structure of the hotel with 2 buildings and confusing connection between main and annex; outdoor onsen bath on top floor is fantastic, but washing facility requires maintenance update. English speaking capabilities of the friendly staff was sometimes challenging.

- Charmion (9/5): - The property was clean and staff friendly. Spacious rooms and onsens were perfect to wind down after a busy time in Tokyo. Hotel offers a shuttle to and from the station which is handy although we walked as it is only a short 10 minute walk to the station. We came in autumn and did not book the dinner and breakfast. There are no other food options open around and the convenience store closed early. The hotel does offer noodles.

- Jukka (6/5): Hieno ja tunnelmallinen paikka, mutta vaatisi nopeasti ison remontin - Sijainti oli hyvä matkamme varrella ja loistava, jos haluaa olla meren äärellä ja rauhallisessa paikassa. Hotellihuoneet ovat erittäin tilavat. Lähimmät ravintolat ja lähikaupat ovat usean kilometrin päässä, vain vieressä oleva erinomainen kalaravintola on lähellä. Hotellin läheisyydessä (kuuluu hintaan) oleva merenrannalla oleva onsen oli hieno kokemus, tosin palveluiltaan vaatimaton. Hotellia ei ole ilmeisesti vuosien varrella juurikaan uudistettu. Ensin saimme virheellisesti huoneen, jota ei ollut siivottu. Jouduimme vaihtamaan huonetta. Huoneissa tuoksui ja tuntui home, ilma ei ollut puhdas. Yksi seurueestamme sai hengitystieongelmia. Tatamipatjat olivat erittäin vanhat ja kuluneet eli todella ohuet. Juoma- ja kahvipiste oli kiva, mutta ei riittävästi avoinna. Miksi kahviautomaatti aukeaa vasta kello 8 aamulla??? Saimme ennakkotietona väärää informaatiota ja muutoinkaan henkilökunta ei ollut kovin ammattimaista.

- Susanne (8/5): - Die Onsen sind schön und nie voll, besonders schön, das auf dem Dach. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß. Es ist nicht weit von der Bahn, mit der man zu schönen Stränden fahren kann. Es gibt Kaffee in der Lobby. Das kleine Fischrestaurant rechts neben dem Hotel ist sehr gut. Man muss wissen, dass man im kleinen Laden im Ort und im Restaurant nur Bar zahlen kann. Das Hotel ist alt, das hat aber was. Wenn man nicht vorab Frühstück und Abendessen bestellt, kann man es für den Ankunftstag nicht mehr bestellen. Es gibt im Ort dann kaum Möglichkeiten, Essen zu bekommen und nur mit Barzahlung. Das sollte das Hotel vorab mitteilen.

- Yuri (8/5): Perfect for a summer or ocean getaway - The view of the ocean was beautiful, we did pay for the nicer room though so that is to be expected. Love the Japanese traditional style with scenery, absolutely breathtaking on a good day which we were lucky enough to have our entire stay for 3 days. The breakfast selection was quite diverse so we enjoyed the meal. Loved the bathhouse water that’s accessible from our room. Futon was a bit on the thinner side for the price we pay for. Usually at that cost, the futons I’ve had before at other stays and ryokans would be thicker so it was a bit tough on my body, but we were so tired after each day we slept heavily regardless. Still, it did ache the next day a bit. Price could be a little lower because how remote it is and hard to get to and there’s nothing around the premises. Also finding the location and correct entrance was a bit tricky as we did not rent a car and took a train. Google maps had made us take the long and strenuous way, having to take many stairs and many steep hills which wasn’t that far but the strain made it feel hard and far. So if you’re not driving a ways from the city already and decide to do the train method, helps to know ahead that there’s the stairs after the steep hill from the station you can take that takes you to the moon road which the hotel main entrance is located and not to be confused with the other hotel next door. They were nice enough not to turn us around to go all the way the other way to get to our correct hotel. Overall, beautiful view with the room interior and quite spacious.

Highly recommended the one located at level 2. Didn’t have time to try the outdoor one but it’s should be great one too! Nice Japanese breakfast is worth to be in paid
- Viacheslav (9/5): Superb - The room was really spacious, all in Japanese style with tatami and hiroen, even though I didn't book a Japanese style room specifically. There was a huge panoramic window with ocean view, and you can fully open it to step to the balcony - rare luxury in Japan. The hotel wasn't crowded - just two rooms per floor, and it has multiple onsens, all neat and well-maintained. But the key selling point for me personally was the rooftop onsen/rotenburo - the view was gorgeous, and the experience overall was pleasant/unique, unlike a few other onsens I had been to. The hotel is old and you feel it - it wasn't a problem for me, I find old places charming, but you are warned. Also, the room's bathroom feels weird and uncomfortable (but who needs a private bathroom in an onsen hotel). And the location itself - Hokkawa - feels quite boring, there is nothing to do there - no shops/restaurants/attractions - just the ocean, the onsen, and some trails in the woods. Ah, one more point: the rooftop onsen is available only for men or only for women, depending on the day. So, if you stay for just one night, there is a chance you can't fully access it during your stay. And it's not clear how to enjoy it as a family, but that wasn't my case.

Great location, 15mins walk from train station (note downslope, walk through the right side shopping alley, turn right and follow the road) 2. Free shuttle to train station in the morning after check out 3. Great views, esp from dining hall 4. Great selection of food during dinner and breakfast buffet. Be sure to do the grill!! 5. - Melanie (8/5): A relaxing stay in a quiet town with amazing ocean views. - A huge traditional Japanese style room with a fantastic ocean view. The rooftop outdoor onsen also overlooked the ocean. The ensuite bathroom water for the bath/shower would not warm up. I was told that it takes 20 minutes plus to get hot.

- Shuert (10/5): Wonderful hotel - you will not be dissapointed - The hotel was absolutely beautiful. We booked the seaside room for 3 people with breakfast included. The facilities were beautiful and it was extra fun that we got to wear the yukata. The onsen was great! While it was seaside, it was a little bit of a disappointment that there was no beach nearby
- Jing (10/5): wonderful - The hotel was very quiet, with the seaside right outside the window. I highly recommend staying for several nights. The rooftop hot spring was very comfortable, and at night, you could see the moon, which was wonderful. Our room was spacious and offered great value for money. In the evening, we borrowed board games from the hotel and had a lot of fun.
- Akane (10/5): Breathtakingly beautiful and serene. - the hotel, the room, and the view were STUNNING!!! the tatami room was absolutely gorgeous, and we had a private onsen bath on our balcony overlooking the ocean. we could watch cute little fishing boats and watch the waves crash against the shore. it was honestly breathtaking. the meals were equally breathtaking. absolutely gorgeous, delicious, and it was so much! course after course of beautiful food kept coming out and we were absolutely stuffed. i felt like we were eating like kings. it was an incredible experience and so relaxing…. i am still dreaming of that bath and the meals. i hope to return next time i’m in japan.

Getting to the bekkan (separate building) requires going down and up some stairs then going up a different elevator. Futon mat had stains. Food is nothing special.

- motohiro (8/5): 朝食のみの宿泊は気を付けて - 周りに食事処が一軒、コンビニ風の酒屋が一軒しかありませんので、夜の食事は熱川まで出る必要があるかもしれません。 それ以外のコンディションは問題ありません。 清潔な部屋と良いサービスが待っています。

- YASUHIRO (10/5): 満足です。 - コロナ禍ということもあり、３組しかいなかったため、お風呂もゆっくり入ることができました。浴場自体は大きくないので、複数家族が入ると小さいと感じるかもしれません。料理のボリュームも多く、食べ応えがありました。
- Hitomi (8/5): WiFiが弱いけど、お値段なりの満足あり。好天満月なら最高の部屋。 - 古い建物で、室内の調度品、トイレなどもかなり年季の入ったものですが、海正面の広い部屋でゆったり過ごせました。日曜日の宿泊で、お値段も3名で4万円ちょっと。 コロナウィルス騒ぎで運営再開したばかりなので空いてました。なので屋上露天風呂は独り占め状態で、太平洋の眺めもバッチリでした。夜は生憎の曇り空で月を見ること叶わずでしたが、朝は大島がどっしりと視界に入って雄大な景色の中で朝食。食事はお値段なりに美味しかったです。
