Sylvie (2/5): Very bad and disappointing experience! - The view. We stayed at Pure Guesthouse from 26 to 30 December 2025, my wife and I together with a couple of friends, occupying the two adjacent rooms on the first floor facing Hout Bay. The view over the bay is indeed very nice. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. From the very first moment, it is obvious that this guesthouse suffers from a serious management problem. There is no visible on site management, no structure and no sense of ownership of what is happening day to day. The place appears to be run remotely, and guests feel this immediately. As we say in Germany, the fish stinks from the head, and this unfortunately applies perfectly here. Given that the owners are German and also operate a wine farm and hospitality business in Franschhoek, expectations are naturally high. One would expect professionalism, attention to detail and pride in quality. Sadly, none of this is reflected in the guesthouse experience. The rooms are poorly designed and unprofessionally executed. The so called en suite bathroom is in reality a cheap and badly integrated shower and toilet installed directly in the bedroom, without proper separation or ventilation. As a result, the rooms smell humid and uncomfortable. Air conditioning did not function properly, and the overall finish is amateurish, with uneven walls and visible low cost modifications. Housekeeping was unacceptable. After the third night, our rooms were not cleaned at all. This is not a small oversight but a fundamental service failure. Breakfast was a complete disaster. Long waiting times, missing items, rotten fruit on the first morning and fridges that clearly do not work properly. Breakfast felt disorganised, understaffed and poorly managed every single day. Staff on site appeared limited and overwhelmed. While individuals may try their best, they are clearly unsupported and left without guidance. This is not a staff problem but a management failure.
Wilfried (2/5): we booked and payed for 12 nights, but left after 4 nights, did take into account the loss of 8 nights ( no refund expec - very stylish, beautiful view over the bay totally without charme, managed out of Franschhoek, 2 young girls available part time for preparing breakfast and cleaning up the rooms, never experienced such charme less guest house in 11 years

Megan (8/5): Very relaxing. Stunning property. - Beautiful place. Great location. Stunning room. Fabulous staff. No entertainment (TV) which wasn’t ideal on nights I wanted to stay in. My prime would not show shows in SA so was useless and I don’t think we should have to use our own accounts. Breakfast could be better. Perfectly edible, but not amazing.
Jonas (10/5): Exceptional - Honestly amazing! Friendliest staff we‘ve ever met during all our travels! Marcelino and Levinia were so kind, caring and supportive all the time. The room was spacious, nice and clean and the view on the city, ocean and mountains was simply stunning.

Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Overall great with lovely breakfast, nice rooms and an amazing view. Beds could be a little more comfortable, showers sometimes did not have very warm water (early morning, late evening).
Nadia (8/5): Enjoyed most our stay, small improvements would make it even better - It was our second stay at the venue. Location is great not too far from the popular locations. Beautiful and comfortable home. Not sure what the policy is on the rooms but our rooms were not cleaned for our entire stay. Not sure if we had to request it? Also breakfast is very limited and rationed no sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, only 2 rashers of bacon. Not an English breakfast more like Scottish. WiFi also had issues and it was hard connecting upstairs during the entire stay.
Valentin (7/5): Good - The whole villa is amazing with scenery views, modern facilities and swimming pool. Huge living room has everything you need for cozy evenings. Private rooms are good as well. Nice and clean bathroom. Breakfast is good but repeating day by day with not really many options to choose. Convenient parking area. Very helpful and friendly staff. The main and huge minus is wifi signal. (((( It's good only in living room area and absolutely weak and not stable in the rooms. So you can't use internet in your own room. The second huge minus is TV. There is no TV-channels at all. You have TV-set in the room but without any TV broadcasting. To entertain yourself you can use your own Netflix account, or You Tube, or other applications. Personally I don't have netflix account, so all the evenings were boring without TV and internet. IT IS ABSOLUTELY unacceptable for the price more than 200 Eur per night.
